Chapter 11: Robberies and Visions

Caspian's POV

"Any signs of break-ins?"

"No, My Liege."

"Anyone in the artillery room in the past day?"

"None that we saw while we were on duty, My Liege."

"Any noises, suspicious sightings?"

"Nothing that we saw, Your Majesty."

I pressed my fingers to my temples, massaging it slowly in hopes of ridding myself of this painful headache.

How could an entire room of weapons just disappear without a trace, with guards on duty by the door?

It simply did not make sense.

"You did not hear anything from inside the room?" Peter asked once more, pacing up and down.

We only had one big chamber in the whole castle, at the training grounds, where we locked up our artillery for war-time use. It was guarded 24/7, for it was one of the most important rooms in the castle. It was the most important room when it came to wars.

"Nothing at all. We just noticed a light from the gap between the door and the floor beneath us, and so we opened the room, and there was nothing. It was absolutely empty." Joesphil, the guard on duty, firmly replied.

"Forgive us, Your Majesties, we have failed in our duties." Shenckle, the other guard, spoke up apologetically before lowering his head in shame.

"From what you report, it seems like you could not have done anything to stop it anyway. It's not your fault, don't blame yourself." Lucy kindly spoke.

"You're dismissed." Susan said with a gentle smile. The guards bowed once more to us before walking out of the room, Keladry walking out with them as well.

"Some magic was used." Ella murmured.

"Jadis and Jadin." Edmund spoke up, an angry look on his face.

"But how could they? If their magic really is this strong, why didn't they do this before? Why only now?" Lucy questioned, to which Ella chuckled stoically.

"Because they're Jadis and Jadin. The unpredictable duo."

"What are we going to do? They've taken all the weapons, how are we going to get them back? How are we going to fight and defend ourselves?!" Lorenzo shouted, fraught with panic.

"Calm down Lorenzo, there must be a way." I replied, wracking my brain for a solution.

"Um, if I may?"

We all turned to Serena, who up until now was just quietly standing behind Peter.

"Go ahead Rae." Peter encouraged.

Th rest of us glanced in confusion at one another.

Rae?

Where did that come from?

Nonetheless…not exactly the worry at the moment.

"I could help you get all the machinery and weapons you need. But I cannot tell you how. You must just have faith in me."

Serena spoke quietly, but at the same time, firmly, not blinking even once as she looked at Peter.

Peter watched her for a few moments, and it seemed like everyone had held their breath as we contemplated Serena's words.

Why couldn't she tell us?

Serena was brought to us by Aslan; that would mean that we could trust her right?

But what did she have to hide?

And why did she need to hide it?

"Alright."

"What?" Edmund exclaimed, walking up to Peter, "You're just going to trust her? Just like that?"

Serena looked down, a little upset from Edmund's brazen outburst, and to be honest we were all taken aback.

"I mean, no offense Serena, I'm sure you mean us no harm, but you have to understand, we barely know you. And why is it you cannot tell us how you can get a whole army's weaponry just like that?"

Edmund did have a point.

"Aslan trusts her, so I trust her Ed. If Serena says she can help us, then let her help us." Peter replied, a hint of anger in his voice as he spoke.

Edmund just let out a breath and ran a hand through his hair, "Alright, but if this blows over…"

"It won't."

Peter turned to Serena and smiled at her, "Do whatever you need to do, Rae."

By this point almost everyone in the room had their jaws dropped.

He spoke to her with such tenderness, and she actually smiled back. This was definitely a first.

How did the 2 of them go from barely speaking to each other to having nicknames and secret smiles?

Well, I suppose it was a good thing that they were getting along, since they were getting married in a few weeks' time.

"I'll have it sorted by tomorrow morning." She spoke as if she were a guard who had just accepted orders, and with a small curtsy, walked out of the room with her head held high.

"So, you and Serena are getting along well." Lorenzo winked at Peter, to which Peter merely rolled his eyes with a hint of a smile on his face.

"Pete, I hope you realize I didn't mean to offend Serena right?" Edmund spoke apologetically, which shocked us quite a bit because he never spoke like that usually.

"I mean, I would never want to upset dear Rae."

Ah yes, there's the Edmund we knew.

Ed was just grinning cheekily at Peter, and we all chuckled at the annoyed face Peter had when he realized Ed was teasing him.

"Alright, that's enough."

"I mean Pete, you got pretty offended when I spoke against Serena, oh sorry, I meant Rae."

"Let it go, Ed."

"Oh come on, you tease me about Ella all the time! Right El?"

There was no reply from Ella, so we all turned to her direction for she was standing by a pillar behind us all.

"ELLA?!"

The sight that lay before us made my stomach drop.

She was lying on the floor, shaking quietly, her eyes closed and her face covered in sweat. We all rushed to her, crying out her name.

Edmund grabbed her shoulders, shaking her, "Ella? Open your eyes! Ella?" He was brushing the hair out of her face, looking worried and helpless as he watched his wife convulse on the floor.

"What's happening to her?" Susan cried out, and Lucy fumbled to get her healing cordial out of her belt.

Suddenly, Ella stop shaking, and she just went limp in Edmund's arms. We all held our breaths, her chest was still heaving thankfully, meaning she was still alive.

She awoke with a jolt, springing upright as she gasped for air.

"Shh, Ella it's okay, shhh," Edmund wrapped his arms around her and rocked her gently back and forth. Ella had such a panicked look on her face, and her eyes were red and glassy.

"El, what happened?" Peter voiced our exact thoughts.

"I-I saw s-some-t-thing." She stuttered, shivering a bit as Ed held her tightly, stroking her hair to calm her down.

"What did you see?" I prodded gently after a few moments of silence while she tried to calm herself down.

Finally, she just looked up at Edmund, tears in her eyes.

"What did you see El?" Ed softly asked, cupping her cheek.

"Dragons."

Ella's POV

"So, you had something like…a vision?"

I looked at Lucy, noting how confused she seemed, and shrugged, "I don't know what it was. My head just started hurting really bad, there was this bright white light in front of my eyes, and I see it, I see three great dragons, gliding through the air."

Edmund's arm tightened around me as I went quiet, recalling those images which just kept flashing in my mind.

He had carried me back to our room, the others following behind. Currently, both of us were sitting on our bed, him holding me, with everyone else standing around us.

"Did you see anything else?" Caspian asked, his arms folded as he leaned against the window of our room, his brown shirt almost camouflaging with the brown curtains.

I looked down for a heartbeat before shaking my head.

"What could this mean? Is this, is what she's seeing, a vision for the future?" Susan shakily asked, her eyes growing wide with worry.

"Perhaps."

We all went silent, the only noise coming from the rain outside pelting against the windows.

I tried to stop it with my mind, but I was too weak. Besides, the rain always calmed me down, so I just let it continue.

"How're you feeling?" I heard Ed's voice from beside me, and I turned to look into his concerned chocolate eyes.

"Weak, tired, my head still hurts."

I was usually one to never complain, but I could not help it this time, I felt like complete crap.

"Alright, I think we should let Ella rest. Let's go." Peter said as he clapped his hands twice, ushering everyone out of the room.

As Lucy closed the door, I sighed and rested my head against Edmund's shoulder.

"Do you want to sleep? Need any water?"

Typically, I hated it whenever Ed tried to baby me whenever I was sick, it made me feel useless and as if I could not take care of myself.

But right now, the state I was in, I did not mind a little affection.

"Just lie with me, please."

I closed my eyes and snuggled into Edmund's chest, smiling as his arms wrapped around me securely, making me cozy in my little sanctuary.

After a few moments of silence, with his just rubbing little circles on my back for he knew that always calmed me down, he suddenly spoke.

"Hey El?"

"Hmm?"

"You sure that's all you saw?"

I bit my lip, contemplating what to say. I really hated lying to my husband, but at the moment, saying anything else would just cause more problems. I was going to deal with it myself, without involving the others.

"Yes Ed, that's all I saw."
