Thank you guys for sticking with me. It means a lot to me.

Five days ago..

A queen sits upon her iron throne. She watches her servants scurry around and go about their business which happens to be the business that she gave them. Their measly lives are so easy to end for her. She could kill them in many different ways and they wouldn't even see it coming. But she doesn't kill them. They have to do the tedious little tasks that she doesn't wish to do herself. A lot of contracts have starting coming in. Contracts to take lives of course. Some were not important at all. Some were just people wanting to kill people. She would send the lower ranked assassins for those contracts. Such as one of her new recruits.

One of the new recruits goes by the name of Wesley. Wesley is a ruthless man who takes too much fun in ending lives and robbing people. It makes sense though since he was previously in a tribe of reckless bandits. The reason he left them was because he killed them. All of them. He just saw that they weren't fit for him to be a part of. So he decided to join the guild. And the queen let him. She merely saw him as an expendable. That's all. She didn't see hidden any power within him and he was no protégé. God no. He was just another grunt. The assignment that Wesley received was to kill a happily married couple. It sounded horrid but that was the nature of this work. It got ugly. It was just a matter of when it did. The newlyweds were named Carley and Matthew. They had just recently recently gotten married but at the expense of the client's happiness. Matthew had stolen Carley from the client and now the client wanted them both killed. The reward was quite high for a common contract. 2,000 gold coins to be exact. So with his first contract, Wesley left the castle never to return.

Several days had passed and the queen had learned that Wesley had been killed. She also found out that he had accomplished his contract as well. The client kept true to his word and paid up, but since Wesley had been killed in the process and had no next of kin, the entire payment went to the guild.

Now we come back to what is happening now. A figure in a black cloak is now walking up to the queen. He approaches her and bows.

"I have important news to share, my queen."

"What is it?"

"I've just received word from one of our spies that Finn the human is gone."

"Gone? What do you mean gone?"

"He has been reported missing."

"So you're telling me Finn the human has disappeared?" She asked

This now peaked her interest most definitely.

"I wouldn't say he disappeared. There's still a chance he could come back."

"But is he gone?"

Her servant quickly shut his lips and took a deep breath.

"Yes."

The queen rose from her throne and smiled wickedly.

"Call forth the council and tell them to meet me in the conference room immediately."

"I'll be sure to do so." He replied as he began to walk away

"I'd appreciate it if you came as well."

"Of course. I will see you there." He said

The assassin quickly exited the throne room leaving the queen to her own devices. He made his way down a couple hallways and made his way to the mess hall. He spotted two of the queen's newer members of her council sitting down talking to each other. They were fairly young gentleman and the only reason they were even brought up to be part of the council was because they were brilliant strategists. The two men were at least five or six years older than him while he was barely reaching twenty two. One of them had black hair while the other had red.

"I heard that he was killed on the job." One of them said while he ate a piece of a potato.

"That's a shame. He seemed to have a lot of potential in him." The other replied

The assassin walked up to the table and crossed his arms.

"What're you two up to?" He asked them

They looked over at him and smiled a bit.

"We were talking about one of the new recruits."

"And I suppose you two were talking about Wesley?" The assassin inquired

"Yes. I was just telling Ferrick here that Wesley had a bright future ahead of him before his demise." The one with green hair said

"He did not." Ferrick replied

"We do not have any future worth smiling for here." The assassin said firmly

The two looked flabbergasted by the assassin's response.

"Well, that is certainly a darker view of things. I would have expected more of an optimistic view from you, Ri-"

"Do not speak my name, Gideon. I don't use it for a reason." The assassin glared

"Ah, yes. You prefer your codename.. well, whatever you desire to call yourself does not excuse your pessimistic views about life here within the guild." Gideon scolded

"Whatever. Look the reason I decided to talk to you two is because the queen wishes to meet with us and the rest of the council in the conference room immediately."

"What for?" Gideon questioned

"She has plans. Finn the human has left the land of Ooo and she wants to go to work immediately."

Gideon and Ferrick looked at each other. They both got up.

"Yes. Well thank you for letting us know, Grimlock. I'm sure the queen has something important on her mind that she needs to discuss. We'll be going now."

Grimlock watched as Ferrick and Gideon left the mess hall.

"Fucking assholes.." He muttered to himself as walked away

The crunching of snow could be heard as two horses trotted through the snowy ground. The cold unforgiving winds of the north were howling. Two riders could be spotted on top of the horses. One of them wearing a white cloak that hid most of his features and had goggles on along with a white bandanna covering his mouth. He also had a mechanical arm that gave the occasional creak every now and then. The other wore a heavy, husky jacket made out of bear furs with wolf fur running around the collar. He also wore patchy jeans made of various animal skins. A scar decorated his left eye. He looked to be a young man in his mid twenties with a light beard that slightly defined his chin. He had dark green and blue eyes that shone dimly and dark brown hair that covered his forehead. He looked over to the rider in the cloak and sighed. A silence had befallen the two leaving room only for the labored breathing of the horses they rode on.

"How much further until we reach The Ruins?" The rider with brown hair asked

"Not much further." The cloaked rider answered

They continued riding as the winds picked up.

"How long has it been since we've been back here? Two years?" He asked

"Yeah." The other rider replied

"Things sure do change.."

They trekked up the snowy hill and reached the top. When they looked out they saw ashes and remnants of a fallen kingdom. The trees surrounding the kingdom were all charred and fallen over. There were numerous craters in the ground and the main castle itself was just a heap of debris. The cloaked rider sighed as he looked on.

"There's our target. Let's not waste any more time than we have to." The brown haired rider said as he begun to ride his horse down the hill.

The cloaked rider followed suit.

Finn was standing in front of the old treehouse. It'd been a little over a week since he had been back here but it had certainly been one hell of a week. Marceline was still trembling with anger and it was quite obvious to her partner.

"Marceline, please calm down. We'll figure this out later."

"I.. am.. calm." She said through gritted teeth

"Look at me." He said as he faced her

She ignored him and kept on growling.

"Marceline, look at me." He said firmly

She turned towards him and saw the calm look he had on his face.

"We'll deal with what happened later." He told her

The anger inside her then diminished into a smaller flame as she took a deep breath.

"Okay." She said as they both started walking towards the fully bloomed willow tree.

Once inside they both discovered that Jake and BMO were nowhere to be found.

"Jake?" Marceline called out

No response.

"Jake, I'm back." Finn yelled

"Where do you think he went?" Marceline asked him

"Knowing him he probably went to Lady's house.."

"Oh. So now what?"

"I don't know.."

"I think I'll go to sleep." She said

"Yeah, me too."

They both went into his room and stopped when they realized there was only one bed.

"Uhh.. what now?"

"I'll go back downstairs." Finn said

"Why are you going back?"

"So.. you could sleep on my bed and I'll sleep on the couch.."

"Oh.. okay."

Finn turned around and started climbing down the ladder slowly.

"Finn, wait."

He paused at the top of the ladder.

"Why don't you sleep with me?" She said softly

He looked at Marceline and saw the loneliness within her eyes. He climbed back up and smiled.

"Are you asking what I think you're asking?" He asked

She blushed bright red.

"N-no!"

"I didn't know you were scared of the dark, Marcy."

"That's not what I meant when I asked you to sleep with me."

This was when Finn decided to be more.. mischievous. He leaned in closer and whispered into her ear.

"Marceline, I don't think we're ready for that just yet."

She nearly fell out of the covers.

"Oh my gog, Finn, no!"

"I was just joking, haha."

"Just shut up already and lie down with me already doofus."

Finn placed himself on the bed right next to her. A smile escaped from her lips as she felt his warmth appear beside her. She gave him a small kiss on his cheek and sighed.

"Finn?"

"Yeah?"

"What do you think'll happen now?"

Finn paused. What was going to happen? There was a war coming along with his recent acquirement of void essence flowing through his veins. The unknown was staring him in the face and he was going to have face it sooner or later, but the real question was when.

"I don't know."

It's been quite a while now. Does anybody even still remember this story or even read it? Well things are still uneasy with me seeing as that it took me nearly three months to post a new update. I've been gone quite a while now and I need to get back in the saddle of writing this story once again. Also as you can tell there has been another name change. Flotus is now my username, which is somewhat pointless considering that you guys already know my real name, but ehh.. it doesn't affect me that much anyway. In recent months I've been completely occupied with work but now I have more days off which means I can have more time to write. I'm working on the next chapter for this story as we speak and before you groan, yes Grimlock is a new character that will come into play. Also the Guild of Assassin's is also playing a key role in the war to come with our hero Finn right in the middle of it. Needless to say tensions will rise up, tempers will flare and there is going to be blood spilled.

Now I see that this story has 60+ reviews. Seems like you guys like this story well enough so now I'll tell you the original pitch for this story. Okay, so first off, this story was originally supposed to be a very long one-shot that dealt with Finn asking Marceline out and her saying no. Finn would tear up after she gave him her response and he would spend the next several months trying to win her over until he reached the age of 22. Then he would stop seeing her and that would make her depressed. Three years after Finn stops seeing her, Marceline would go see where Finn went off to and discovers that he met a human girl around his age and that he fell in love with said human within the period of those three years. Marceline then sees the ring on her finger and realizes that Finn married her and that he didn't invite her to his wedding. Struck with all kinds of emotions, Marceline snaps at Finn and calls him all sorts of things. Finn then calms her down as a father would do his child and begins to explain that he never knew that she felt feelings for him because she never reciprocated. He then says that he met the human girl and they simply hit it off and three years later they just so happened to be married. He then says that he still loves Marceline. Marceline then kisses him and he accepts it. Marceline then asks him to leave with her. He ponders it for a second but tells her no. she asks why not and he says that if he left that he would be a bad husband for doing so and an even worse father. That's how Marceline discovers that Finn is going to be a father. Marceline begins to tear up and hugs him. They then begin to talk as old friends and discard the romantic tension between them, deciding that what they had was simply just a crush.

Thinking in retrospect, maybe the title of this story would fit the original pitch better. Whatever. I still might do something with the original pitch and if any of you guys like the original pitch I may just give you the rights to it. *wink wonk*

Anyways, if you liked this intermission, leave a review and DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS. I like answering your questions. Also if any of you guys are fans of Homestuck I was also thinking of writing a fan fiction for it, but not until I'm done with these Adventure Time ones. Well take care guys and girls and hopefully we'll meet again sometime very soon.
