Disclaimers and all that stuff
Author's Note: I don't like the way this chapter turned out but it was necessary and I don't know when exactly the Weasleys went into hiding. Just a warning, next week I'm helping out at a camp next week in the morning, but I should still be able to update. Please review
The Monday after Percy had been invited to the Burrow for dinner, he received an letter from his dad. It said that Thursday at six would be a good time for them. Percy quickly sent a response back saying that Thursday would be perfect. He couldn't wait for Thursday to come, it was such a nice feeling to be back with his family. Well, most of his family anyways. He still had Ron and Ginny to apologize to, but he could afford to wait for them. Ginny was still at school and Ron was probably off with Harry and Hermione who knows where, doing who knows what.
On Thursday evening, a couple minutes to six Percy apparated to his childhood home. When he entered the Burrow, he saw his mum hurrying around the kitchen making dinner. When she saw him, she gave him a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"It's so good to have you home Percy," she said. "Your father's in the living room waiting for you. Dinner will be ready in about ten minutes."
"Okay" said Percy. As he made his way to the living room, he wished that there was someone else having dinner with them, so it wouldn't be quite as awkward. Percy had always been the quiet one of his family. He had never gotten involved with any of the big discussions. He normally just sat quietly during family meals and just let the rest of his family do the talking. When he entered the living room, his dad stood up and came over to give him a hug.
"I'm glad you could make it" he said letting go of Percy.
"Me too" said Percy softly.
They sat together in an awkward silence until Molly told them dinner was ready. When both Percy and his dad were seated, his mum entered, levitating the food in front of her. Percy noticed that it wasn't as much food as his mum normally made as it was only the three of them. Though it was still a lot of food for three people.
"So Percy" his mother started. "The twins told me you have a girlfriend."
"Oh they did, did they" replied Percy his ears going red. He made a mental note to kill the twins the next time he saw them.
"Yes they did," his mother continued. "They told me she's the girl who managed to make you see the truth." Percy hadn't wanted to talk about either of these topics tonight. "So tell me, how'd she do it?" His mother looked eager at the prospect of finding this out.
"Well... Ummmm... I don't know" said Percy wanting this conversation to be over.
"Oh come on, you must know" she urged him. "Any women who can change a Weasley boy's mind must have amazing persuasion skills." Luckily Percy was saved from his mother's interrogation by his father.
"How're things going at the ministry for you, Percy?" It was another topic Percy hadn't wanted to talk about, but it was better than the other topics.
"They could be worse" replied Percy honestly. "I think they're starting to believe that my allegiance has changed." His father gave him a look of sympathy.
"I've been thinking that we might have to go into hiding."
"So things are pretty bad for you too?"
"They know that the rest of the family openly supports Harry. They haven't done anything yet, but I don't think it will be long before they do something about it" he father said grimly. "But I want you to know that you're welcome to go into hiding with us."
Percy thought about this for a little bit. He knew that things were going to get very bad, very soon, but he knew what would happen if he went into hiding. They would take Audrey and do whatever it took to find out where he was. He had to put Audrey's well being before his.
"Thank you for the offer, but I can't accept it. I have people I care about and I don't want them to get hurt because of me."
"A true Gryffindor" said his mother sadly.
"I just wanted you to know that the offer's always on the table" said his father.
"Thank you" said Percy, and he meant it.
After this the conversation started getting a bit lighter. They started talking about the rest of the family. Percy found out that Ron was in fact off with Harry and Hermione, but his parents didn't know what they were up to.
"Dumbledore left them with some sort of mission, but they wouldn't tell us any more than that" said Arthur clearly worried about his youngest son.
"I just don't know what that man was thinking. I mean leaving an important mission with a bunch of teenagers, we could've helped them with it" said his mum angrily.
"I'm sure they can handle it" said Percy, trying to placate is parents. "All three of them are capable of looking out for themselves."
"I'm sure you're right" said his mum calming down a bit. " I just hope they're okay."
It was eight 'o' clock before Percy finally left the burrow. He had promised his parents that he would come for dinner again next week.
It was almost a week later when Percy received an letter from his father.
Dear Percy,
The whole family has gone into hiding. I cannot tell you where, but we are all safe. We won't be able to write anymore because they could track the owls, but I hope you stay safe. Destroy this letter as soon as you have finished reading it.
Love,
Arthur
Percy wasn't happy as he destroyed the letter. He had just gotten his family back and now they were gone again. He intended to do everything he could to help end this war so he could have his family back.
