Here's another chapter. Slightly late, but I've been busy and probably will be for the next while. I won't stop writing but the chapters will most likely be more spread out (though I've said that before). Anyway, read, review and enjoy.
Chapter 11
"Jaune?" Pyhrra saw the boy's shoulders visibly slump and the shouting stopped.
"Hehe," she heard him chuckling, "Hehe… haha… hahahahahaha! Ahahahahahahahaha!" The boy stood up, laughing half-mad, looking up at the ceiling, "Oh GOD yes!"
"Jaune…" Pyhrra was a stranger to feeling scared but watching her leader's mind effectively break apart creeped her out beyond belief. She backed up slightly, unaware that she had instinctively brought her shield up to defend herself.
The boy looked over his shoulder with an insane grin on his face. For a second, Pyhrra thought it was a trick of the light but she definitely saw them: Jaune's eyes were orange. "So, its nice to finally talk face to face, hot stuff," Jaune lunged at her, swiping aside the shield and kicking her legs from under her. She was so shocked by the sudden attack by her partner she didn't mount a defence. Within seconds, she was disarmed and straddled by the boy she liked who was currently a psychopath. Jaune- no, Felix had his knees pin down her arms leaving his own to wrap around her neck
"Jaune-" she said, shocked.
"Wrong," he leaned closer till their noses were touching, "Jaune's gone out for a bit. Its Felix now and God does it feel good,"
"What, but Felix-"
"I never existed outside of this body. Jaune's locked me away for seventeen years. Now, I'm high on living and its time to have some fun," he drew Crocea Mors, "Ok, sweetie, tell me the sword you want in you. I'm not picky which. It'll tear Jaune up either way,"
"You sick bastard," she spat at him. Once it dawned on her that the boy in front of her wasn't Jaune anymore, anger boiled up and she tried to break his nose with a headbutt.
"Wo-hoo," he pulled his head back just in time, "Still feisty, I see," he drove the sword into the floor next to Pyhrra's neck, "Good, wouldn't want you giving up that easy," he pushed the hilt so that the blade would cut through her neck like a paper cutter. But, even pinned, Pyhrra's hand glowed black and the blade slowed to a halt just barely connecting with her skin. Only her Aura was stopping it from tearing through but that was depleting quickly. Felix's face scrunched up in frustration but he couldn't move the blade any further.
Pyhrra began to work her hand free of Felix's pin but it was taking too long. She needed more time. "Not bad, pretty thing," the killer smirked at her defiance. He continued to press down on the sword while slowly moving his hand to his waist, "For someone who's never fought the real me before, you learn fast, but not fast enough,"
Pyhrra was too busy to notice before Felix draw his knife and by then it was too late. The serrated blade cut into her just below the ribcage. Everything became a red haze in light of this new agony. All the fight in her left as she screamed in pain but Felix had already let go of the sword. He giggled, "You may have only fought me once but I've been sparring with you for months. All those weeks watching you through my brother's eyes have finally paid off," he withdrew the knife and the blood started to gush. "Having fun in there, little brother?" he whispered, knowing just who was watching.
Pyhrra moved her hands to stop the bloodflow. Even half delirious, she was showing her expertise. But Felix knew his blade and his trade well. The amount of internal bleeding and punctured lung he'd just caused was fatal without medical help. All he had to do was sit back and watch. Enjoy the show, he mentally told his mental roommate. "AH!" Felix suddenly felt a hot spike run through his temple, "Wha- gah!" He put a hand over his face. He could feel his brother thrashing about trying to hurt Felix by messing up their minds. The result was extraordinary. "Stop it, you little- ah!" Felix stumbled back, tripping on a stray book and crashing onto the floor. He listened to the voice in his head, "Let her go? Oh, you want me to save her? Go screw yourself, I told you this would happen… You think you can make me? Go ahead. That was a neat little trick turning my newfound freedom against me but don't think I'll break that easy." In response, Felix began to scream even louder but now it was mixed with laughter, "Go ahead…" Felix dragged himself up using the bed, "Take your best sho- aaah!" he collapsed again. "Oh God, that's annoying,"
He remained kneeling for a while, before remembering what was happening around him. If no one had heard Pyhrra screaming from the knife attack, they definitely heard Felix's little episode. "Damnit. I guess we'll have to leave that for later," he said as he looked over Pyhrra's bleeding body. He opened up the window and vaulted over to land on the ground below. His Aura cushioned the fall admirably. He looked back up before moving on, "A shame," he sighed, "I was enjoying making you watch her die,"
Ruby led the knight towards Jaune's dorm. Now that all the shock of his arrival had passed, Ruby was able to get a good look at the head of the Arc family. He was burly, that much was clear even under all that bulky armour. His face was neither childish nor particularly mature looking, giving some weird, almost unnatural, ageless quality to it. As a result he looked much younger that he should be, his twenties maybe? But he must definitely be in his forties to have a son Jaune's age. He had the same straw blonde hair as his son but it was much shorter than Jaune's and looked quite dry compared to his son's who often alternated from smooth to greasy and back. His eyes however, didn't resemble Jaune's at all. Instead of blue, they were bright orange. Strangely though, at least to her, he wasn't carrying a weapon despite his apparel, but she didn't bring it up. Once they got to their floor she pointed towards the JNPR dormroom "There, Jaune and the others live next to us,"
Jacob nodded and approached it but paused when he saw it slightly ajar and the lock smashed. More worrying were the moans of pain coming from inside. He pushed the door open and was assaulted by the all-too-familiar stench of spilt blood. On the ground was a girl dressed like a gladiator with a deep wound in her torso. One cut. Neat. Just enough to kill her if unassisted. "Felix," he said under his breath.
"What's going on? I tho- oh God!" Ruby pushed her way past him and covered her mouth as she looked upon the sight of her friend's prone figure, "Pyhrra!"
Jacob moved to knee beside the girl, "Ruby get bandages, there should be some nearby."
"Our dorm," Ruby rushed out of the room. The old knight quickly looked around, taking in the clues and signs of the fight. The way she was lying suggested he jumped her from the window side of the room and from the red marks that looked like fingerprints on the window frame, he suspected that's how Felix got out. The weapon? Obviously his knife. Felix rarely used anything else for his attacks. Given the amount of blood loss, he couldn't have been gone for more than a minute.
"Damn, he slipped away," he gritted his teeth. His chance to take Felix down quickly was gone. He'd now have to hunt him. This wouldn't end well.
"Here," Ruby returned with a roll of bandages and a first aid kit.
"Good, get help but be careful. I wouldn't put it past Felix to still be lurking around,"
Once the redhead left, Jacob got to work, "So," he said to himself, "This is the famous Pyhrra you mentioned. I didn't realise you have a crush on a sports star, Jaune," he smiled to himself and got to work saving the girl's life.
So, when I said the last chapter didn't sit well with me on paper? Well, I've already started on the next one and its really pissing my off so the next chapter probably won't be for a while until I can get it right. Comments and criticisms are appreciated.
