Enjoy!
The two rushed through the streets of New York City. They made a short cut behind a few buildings. Ones the girl knew from her school days.
"Can't you believe we discovered this?" Jewel nearly shouted," Well, my mom did, but can you believe it?"
"I mean, Berlin, it's the perfect place to hide them! Someplace we never would've guessed to look," Larry said," Never been there before. Also I wanted to-"
Before he could speak, the two squeezed past the garbage bins and onto the sidewalk. They saw that was about to lock up. They ran up the museum steps, almost out of breath as they made their way yo to him.
"We figured it all out," she said, showing the papers.
"I'm sorry?" He asked.
"The code," Larry panted," we know where they're going. We know where they have the Egyptians and the tablet.
The director couldn't believe his eyes and ears. In under twenty-four hours had the two crashes cked the code. To McPhee, it was very impressive. He opened the doors up and led them into the office, making sure the windows were blinded. He hoped no one was listening in. Larry locked the door and awaited for the coding to begin.
"So," Jewel said," we figured out the thieves wrote in German. Unfortunately, we don't know German, online translators aren't trustable and we couldn't decode it."
"However," Larry said," my wife- Jewel's mother- figured it out and wrote it in English."
studied the papers in complete shock. He was still impressed by his companion's hard work and mind power to decoding! Yet, when he looked up, a panicked look on his face."
"What did you tell your mum this was?" Dr McPhee asked with panic in his tone.
"Actually," she said,"Larry told her it was for a story I'm writing."
"Good," he said," can't have anyone finding about what this truly is."
The girl then explained how each hidden capital letter was part of a puzzle. They all connected in the end, showing the work she did. The female guard circled the word BERLIN on her paper to show their location. McPhee let a laugh out and hugged his friends. They (awkwardly) hugged him back, as he'd never done this before. In fact, Jewel had never seen him smile like that. Or seen him smile in general.
"Both of you really saved the museum," he said," now we need to get to Berlin soon. I'll tell them you're coming tomorrow."
"Wouldn't the police-"
Larry remembered the talk he had with Jewel. He decided to keep his mouth shut, knowing she wanted her own museum adventure. As called them, the two stepped outside.
"Germany, here we come!" He laughed," this is gonna be one heck of a trip. We need to pack and tell your mom and-"
"I don't know if I want to go," his step daughter admitted.
"What?" Larry raised his eyebrows," You wanted a museum adventure, and Berlin is the perfect start."
"It's just," she said," I haven't been out of the United States in- well, ever. I'm not used to big places, like you."
Half of that was a lie. They lived in New York City- of course she was used to life like that. She hated the idea of going to Germany, only because of an irrational thought. Of someone that could've taken the artifacts. Larry came closer to her.
"Jewel," he mentioned," you don't have to be afraid. I know it's weird to travel out of of the country. And the whole situation- but I wouldn't let anything happen to you or the others. I promise."
The girl knew her stepfather would watch out for her. More than her real father could. She thanked him, with a smile on her face. Larry went to speak, but Dr McPhee rushed out. He confirmed they were going to Berlin in a few hours.
"Do you need anything for your trip to Deutschland?" He asked.
"I have some things in mind," Jewel said with a sly grin stuck to her face.
She walked down the hall to the exhibits. Pointing to certain ones, the three put them in the crates and shut them up. watched as the two left, for they'd been packed up and ready to leave at five in the morning. This plan was perfect, but on the other side of the world, tragedy was coming down.
