THIS STORY IS NOT DEAD YOU GUYS! I REPEAT; NOT DEAD!

I'm sorry this is late. I kinda got into a slump where I didn't feel like writing anything at all but I'm over that now and have been writing nonstop. The only reason why this is so late is because I've started it at my Nana's house but I had trouble getting over here to finish.

Anyway I just want to say a big giant thank you to every single one of you guys! Seriously, everyday I check my email and see a new follow/favorite/review for this story. I never, ever, ever would have thought that this would be so popular! EVER! AND THIS STORY ISN'T NEAR BEING DONE YET!

You guys are so nice to me. ;w;

Rise of the Guardian's belongs to Dreamworks and William Joyce

Eros' words bounced around in Faith's head for the rest of the week. Even though she really did understand his words, the blonde still couldn't help but wonder about Alex. Eros never flat out said whether Alex was 'the one' or not. He only said that he couldn't force him to fall in love with her...but would that always be the case?

After all even if he didn't fall for her this night, what if he did later on down the road? No one could predict the future so who's to say he wouldn't? Plus she was a nobody at Burgress High so obviously Alex must like SOMETHING about her to even speak to her, let alone ask her out. And what if-

"Faith!"

Said girl jumped in her seat, being shaken back to reality by Carol's call. Faith blinked her brown eyes and shook her head, looking up at the elder woman who was at the kitchen sink washing the dishes.

"I'm sorry Grandma. What did you say?"

"I said don't you think you need to start getting ready for the dance?"

Faith turned her head, glancing at the clock on the wall. 5:25. The dance started at 7:00 and Alex said that he would pick her up at 6:30.

"HOLY CRAP! I'M GONNA BE LATE!" Faith screached, flying from the kitchen chair, knocking it over in the process and then proceeded to run up the stairs faster than an Olympic runner.

. . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . .

"And...done." Carol smiled as she finally finished fixing her granddaughters hair. Miracously Faith had managed to take a fast shower, brush her teeth, dry her hair, change into her dress and had Carol do her hair and makeup all in time. There was only five minutes to spare as they waited for Alex to come.

"You look beautiful honey." Carol smiled proudly at her granddaughter.

Faith blushed a little and looked away. "Thanks. Do you think Alex will like it?"

"If he doesn't then the boy's obviously got brain issues." Carol chuckled.

"Grandma!"

"I'm teasing dear. Alex will think your gorgeous." the elder woman reassured before her smile fell.

"What's wrong Grandma?" Faith asked concerned.

"It's nothing honey...I just wish that your mother didn't have to work tonight so she could see how beautiful you look right now."

Faith's eyes flashed with a hint of sadness but Faith still kept her smile plastered onto her face. "I-It's fine. I know Mom's busy a lot."

"Lemme go get the camera. This moment needs to be captured!" Carol suddenly exclaimed excitedly.

"Aw no, come on Grandma. I look horrible in pictures."

"Oh hush child you look fine. Now wait here!" and with that she skittered out of the room. Faith sighed, and shook her head in amusement. With any luck Alex will show up before Carol found the camera.

Splat!

Faith jumped hearing the noise and whipped around, smirking upon seeing what appeared to be a snowball splattered against her window. A finger appeared and began to draw a smily face in the snow, on the window. The blonde shook her head and went over, opening it.

"If you wanted in you could have just said so."

"Yeah but this is more fun." Jack replied floating in. He landed on the ground, freezing the area of the carpet under his feet. "So what's..."

The winter spirit trailed off upon finally noticing is friend. Instead of her usual orange turtleneck boots and jeans, Faith was wearing a pink and white prom like ball gown. The top part was white and the bottom part fanned out into a slightly poofy, sparkly pink skirt. Her usual red head band sat tucked neatly on her head as her blonde curls fell down in little ringlets passed her shoulders. A pair of red flats on her feet.

"Wow..." Jack whispered.

Faith felt her face heat up as her friend continued to stare. "Jack?"

"..."

"Jack!"

"Huh?! What?!" the frosty teen exclaimed shaking his head and coming back to reality. "I-I-I uh...Wow! Faith you look...different..."

"Bad different or good different?" she asked feeling self conscious.

"Good different. D-Definately good different." Jack said trying not to stare. "What's the occasion?"

"Tonight's the night of the dance remember?"

Jack suddenly remembered what day it was and frowned. "Oh yeah...so I take it your still going with Alec?"

"It's AleX, Jack." Faith corrected, putting emphasis on the 'x'. "And yes I am. I don't lounge around the house in ballgowns for the heck of it."

Jack bit his lip and twirled his staff around. "Okay..."

"What's your problem?" Faith asked getting annoyed. "You've been acting weird ever since I told you that he asked me to the dance."

"What's my problem?" Jack asked offended. "I don't have a problem. No problem in the slightest. Nope. None at all."

"Your lying Frost." Faith glared placing her hands on her hips.

"I am not!" the Guardian exclaimed.

"Yes you are!"

"Am not!"

Faith bit back a reply and sigh. "Look, I don't want to fight but...Something's bothering you and I want to know what."

"Nothing's bothering me, Faith." Jack repeated, looking at the girl in the eyes. "I...I hope you have fun at the dance." he said forcing a smile.

Ding Dong~

"That's Alex." Faith said glancing to the door.

"I'll let you get going then." Jack mumbled. "See ya Faith."

"Jack!" Faith called out but the winter spirit just flew out the window and into the night. Faith frowned and felt her heart sink. Why was Jack acting like this?

"Faith! Alex is here!" Diane's voice called, snapping the girl out of her thoughts.

"I'm coming Mom!" she called down. A small smile grew on her face. Fine then. Let Jack be that way. She wasn't going to let him ruin what was sure to be the best night of her life.

With a newfound determination, the blonde set out and headed down the stairs spotting her family talking with Alex. Faith stopped at the top of the stairs and felt her breath leave her body as she looked at her date. Goodness he was so handsome in a tux!

"And so I put him in a headlock and..." Grandma Carol trailed off as he spotted her granddaughter standing ontop of the stairs. "OH! You look so beautiful honey! Your growing up so fast!"

"Grandma." Faith groaned, cringing and blushing in embarrassment, her blush only growing worse when she heard Alex's laughter ring out through the room.

"You do look really nice though Faith." the boy smirked.

"Y-You think so?" Faith asked as she started down the stairs.

"I know so."

"Oh! Wait! Wait! Let me get the camera before you leave!" Carol squealed and ran off to go get said object.

"Honestly Mother! Just let them go." Diane huffed.

"One picture isn't going to kill them! Now smile." Carol commanded as she came back, camera in hand. She held the camera to her face pointing it at Faith and Alex. "Now move in closer you two."

"Yes Ma'am." Alex chuckled wrapping an arm around Faith and pulling her closer. Faith forced a smile as she tried to slow down her quickly beating heart as Carol snapped away on the camera.

"Alright. You two love birds go on and have fun." Carol said once she was satisfied with the amount of photos she had taken and shooed the two teens out the door.

"Don't be out to late now." Diane called.

"We won't. Bye!" Faith called back.

"Nice meeting you two." Alex added as he headed towards his car.

"Oh um, I thought we was going to walk to the dance?" Faith asked awkwardly. "I don't live to far away from the school."

"Nah it's alright. I don't mind driving." Alex shrugged and opened the passenger side door. "Your chariot awaits M'lady."

Faith smiled and got into the car. "Thank you my good sir."

Alex just grinned and shut the door, going over and getting inside the drivers side of the door. "You ready to go?"

"Yeup." Faith chirped grinning widely.

"Then let's do this thing!" Alex exclaimed, sticking the key in the ignition and driving off. Both of them unaware of the glaring icy gaze of a certain Guardian, watching them from a nearby tree.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

When they arrived at the school, Faith stood in awe as she and Alex entered the gym. The gym had been decorated to the nines. A soft pink light filled the room and paper heart were strung up everywhere. A disco ball hung from the ceiling and slowly spun around, casting little lights everywhere. A table sat off to the corner, various type up snack foods and drinks sitting upon it. The other students already dancing on the dance floor as 'Safe and Sound' by Capital Cities blared through the speakers.

"Oh wow." Faith breathed. "This is beautiful."

"I guess." Alex shrugged. "I looks kinda cheesy if you ask me."

"I don't think so..." Faith objected though mostly to herself.

The two stood in an awkward silence for a moment before Alex linked his arm through her's. "Wanna get a snack?"

"O-Okay." Faith smiled shyly as he lead her to the snack table.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . .. .. . . . .. . . .

The rest of the night went on fairly well. Faith and Alex danced, laughed, snacked and goofed around. Faith had never been so happy before than she had been that night. Only meeting the Guardians could come close to this happiness she felt. The dance was perfect, the atmosphere was perfect, Alex was perfect; it was all just a dream come true and nothing would ruin this moment for her.

"Hey Faith." Alex suddenly asked.

"Yeah?"

"I'll be right back. Gotta head to the bathroom real fast." the black haired boy said standing up.

"Oh alright. Hurry back." She teased.

"Wait for me out on the dance floor. I got a surprise for you when I get back." he said smiling mischieviously and winking at her before he disappeared in the crowd.

"A surprise? What could that be?" Faith wondered. She shook it off and finished off her punch before making her way to the middle of the dance floor. She weaved her way through the crowd until she reached the center of the dance floor, bopping to the beat a bit as she waited for Alex to return.

"BOMBS AWAY!"

The crowd suddenly parted and Faith heard a noise from above her head. She looked up just in time to see a tarp open up above her, releasing a rainfall of rotten spaghetti, lettuce, sauce, eggs and carious other messy foods. All of which landing right on her.

Faith just stood their mortified as she felt the slimy noodles slide down her back and the eggs get all in her hair. All around her the sound of laughter broke out as the students laughed and pointed at her. Kevin and his friend's being the loudest of them all.

"Aw dudes look! The babies gonna cry!" Kevin hollered as Faith felt the tears well up in her eyes. She struggled to find a come back. She wanted to say something that would hurt them as much as they hurt her but all that the poor girl managed to get out was a strangled sob and she ran to the bathroom.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Faith turned off the water as she threw away yet another paper towel. She managed to get out most of the food from her hair but her dress was completely ruined. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her golden curls were now knotted and stained with tomato sauce and egg yolk. Her beautiful pink and white dress now stained and ruined. She had washed off a lot of the makeup as she washed her face but her eyes were still black underneath from crying. She just wanted to go home now.

With a sigh the girl left the bathroom. The dance had resumed as if nothing had happened and the janitor had cleaned up the food from the floor. She looked around and spotted Alex talking with his friends.

"Did you see her face? Priceless!" Alex cackled.

"Bro I know! That was epic!" Alex's friend Emmet agreed.

"Alex, man, I can't believe you managed to actually asked that freak to be your date." Another friend, Adam, exclaimed.

"I know." Alex shuddered. "But it was all a part of the plan. Pfft! On the drive up here she just kept saying about how excited she was to come here and crap like that."

"What a loser."

And that was it. Faith's body began to shake with sobs and the tears poured from her eyes. With a choked out sob, she ran and burst through the gym doors down the hall, out the school and into the night.

She just kept running, and running. Why? Why did they all hate her so? What had she done to deserve this? Why were they so mean? Why-

"OH!" she yelped as the heel of her shoe broke, sending her to the ground. She just laid there and cried. She cried, cried, cried till she couldn't anymore.

"Faith?!"

She didn't even bother looking up. She felt a cold breeze blow and then icy cold hands grab her shoulders and pull her to her feet. Teary brown eyes met concerened blue.

"Faith, what...What happened to you?" Jack asked looking at the girl confused and worried.

"You were right! You were right about Alex. He only asked me to the dance so he and the others could make a fool out of me." She sobbed wiping her eyes. "I can't believe I was so stupid as to think he actually liked me! They're all right. I'm nothing but a big loser."

And with that she ran off.

"Faith!" Jack called after her but she didn't stop and just kept running. Jack frowned feeling his heart ache for his friend. Faith didn't deserve any of this.

He sighed and looked up at the moon. He had to do something. How could he make her smile again?

Remember to review. Bye guys! :)
