Chapter 11
Here's some feels for whatever measure (: advancing the plot~ lol, double mare
Jack screamed as he felt the blistering heat sink deep into his flesh. He saw nothing but the blinding white light, he felt nothing but agony, he could smell his own flesh burning. He knew it was going to scar, probably badly at that. The webbing fire branched off into his flesh, the electricity pulsing through him. He could feel himself falling, he knew he would undoubtably fall fast, even with the wind trying to cushion his fall. He wasn't entirely certain where his staff was. He probably dropped it a few minutes ago.
He felt himself hit the ground-hard. He even saw stars, at least from what he could tell. They looked kind of like stars. Jack listened intently, fear taking hold of his rapidly beating heart. He slowly opened his eyes once he got the world to stop spinning. He gasped when he looked up. He wasn't expecting them to already be there.
"Who you gonna run to now, frost? You know what'll happen if you disobey me again. Maybe you just need a reminder?" They grinned sadistically before slamming their staff down on jack's arm. Spring green metal glistened with the crimson liquid.
Jack awoke with a start. His breathing was fast, he was sweating and panicking. "It's done and over. Im not alone now. I'm safe now... I'm safe now." he repeated to himself in an attempt to calm down.
Jack stayed curled up for a few minutes, until he was able to breath properly. He slowly sat up and walked to the bathroom, his hand trailing along the wall. Jack took off his jacket and splashed water on his face. Once he decided he was calm enough, he looked through the cabinet. It was mostly empty, but there was a liquid concealer and mineral powder that gave him an idea. If bunny was so worried about him before, then he wouldn't be if there wasn't anything to worry about. He could always hide his pain from everyone, hide his scars. And he would continue to do that for as long as he could. Afterall, how could they trust someone that couldn't even obey on their life? Someone weak, someone that could be taken so easily?
Jack snuck out of his room and looked out the window. It was early, still dark outside even. He could guess that bunny hadn't come to check on him yet. He may have been tired earlier, but he could remember the conversation well. He could tell bunny was still planning on checking on him, and he planned on actually looking better. He even had a plan in mind.
Bunny walked through the hall, going to one specific room. One that contained a specific winter spirit. Once he arrived at the room, he knocked lightly. He waited a moment. Hearing nothing, he assumed that jack was still asleep, so he decided to go in. Once the door was open, he found that the room was empty. The giant ocean blue bed was a mess, but the room was otherwise clean.
"Guess I'll have to go lookin' for 'im, then"
Bunny turned and began searching the house. He paused to listen, his ears raised and attentive. He could hear something downstairs, which he could only assume was jack. He decided to check it out.
Once bunny made it to the bottom floor, he followed the sound of things falling. He stood in the den, turning right and finding the shiny double doors that led to the kitchen. He took a deep breath before he opened the doors, revealing jack.
Jack stood on top of the counter, he was reaching for something in a cabinet just over the fridge. Bunny cocked a brow before clearing his throat
'Just a little further' jack thought to himself, leaning heavily on the fridge. He didn't notice the pooka watching him from the doorway, or the counter that was previously poorly repaired by elves that didn't want to get into trouble for mistaking a hammer for a meat tenderizer. He leaned forward a little bit more before he heard someone clear their throat, startling him and causing him to slip and fall, bringing the broken half of the counter with him.
"Jack!" Bunny shouted out, feeling bad for startling the poor teen. He rushed to his side, helping him to stand back up
"Why would you sneak up on me like that?!" Jack exclaimed, rubbing his elbow that was still throbbing
"Sorry, I didn't think you would fall and almost break your neck. Are you okay jack? Let me see"
Jack glared at the pooka as he rolled up jack's sleeve to look for any injury. He pulled his arm back, whining at the pooka, "let go, I'm fine. I just hit my funny bone. ...Ironically, it's not funny though..." He grumbled, picking up his staff.
Bunny remembered how jack didn't want to show him his arm earlier. 'Maybe he's self conscious?' He wondered. "Jack..." Aster started
Jack turned back to the bunnyman before asking "what?" Curiosity making itself notable in his voice.
"You know you can tell me anything, right?"
"Yeah... Why?" Jack asked, raising an eyebrow, his head tilted to the side.
"No specific reason, frostbite."
"... You're acting weird today." Jack said before going back to trying to get whatever down from the cabinet.
"What are you lookin' for?" Bunny mind asked, looming over jack
"I'm trying to get down the bowls. Why did he have to put them so high up?" Jack asked aloud
Bunny smirked, before pushing jack aside and pulling out a stool. "Hold up. Ya don't have at climb up on everything. Just ask if you need help. And I promise I'll do the same." He said as he climbed up and grabbed the metal bowls down. (I still don't get why people get bowls made of the heaviest thing they can find. Or metal. That's weird...)
"I'm just used to climbing, I guess... Even I know neither of us are actually going to ask for help." Jack grumbled the last part absentmindedly.
Bunny hopped off of the stool, handing jack a bowl and placing the rest in a low cabinet. "It doesn't have to be for everything, at least ask when it's dangerous. What do ya need a bowl for, anyway?"
Jack thought for a moment before responding, "I was getting hungry... Do you know if there's any cereal or anything? I didn't see any before..." He trailed off.
"Yeah, it's just in the dining room. Follow me." Bunny stated before half dragging the winter spirit along with him
I've been typing these here and editing them... The internet was down for a while, so I couldn't do school work or scholarship sign ups :/ at least I can update this. It was the only one I had left off, so I could only work on this one then. The internet is back, at least for now. It'll storm again soon, so I'll sit outside and watch for a while. What's everyone's favorite weather? I like rain and snow (:
