Chapter 11
Vacation
Daddy sent my gifts through the Mirror Portal. He got me a journal to write in. Jazz got me a photo album. I wasn't sure what to fill it, with other than pictures of Fal. I missed him. Daddy let him call so he could get his bedtime story. Daddy wanted to talk to me, but he never did. I couldn't because I was reading to Fal and he didn't like it when I stopped for too long. I think Daddy didn't know what to say. He always hung up after Fal got sleepy.
"Maybe you need to tell him you want to talk. He probably doesn't want to upset you." Damian told me after our last video chat.
"Yeah. I think that's it." I nodded. I got plenty of other presents, but I used Daddy's a lot. And Raven's blanket. I like blankets. They were cuddly. I was happier now that I had time to myself. I had felt bad for leaving Fal behind, but he knew I needed this. Daddy did too, but I think he forgot that I still loved him.
I got out my Mirrorphone and called Daddy,"Hi. How are you?"
"Uh..." Daddy flamed a little bit. I heard the crackle of flames until he got it under control.
"I miss you." I told him.
"... You're not mad?" He whispered.
"No, I wasn't feeling good when I left. I still love you. I don't want you and Sparrow to fight anymore. Ok?" I asked.
"Ok. I wasn't sure if you were ready to talk yet so, yeah." He awkwardly paused. I thought some more before saying anything.
"Are you ok?" I wondered.
"Uh, yeah." He said quickly.
Jack B. Nimble's POV
I said that too fast. She's going to guess something's wrong. Ever since the fight happened, I've had a voice in my head saying Cocoa hates me. I know this is bad and I should get help, but I can't help feeling that somehow it's true.
"Daddy?" Cocoa, my poor baby, asked. I can't tell her. It'll just add to her stress.
"I'm kinda tired." I hadn't slept in days. I've been going to strip clubs to hide from Fal. He reminds me of Cocoa.
"Ok. Love you. Nighty-night." She waited for me to say bye.
"Love you. Bye." I hung up.
I needed to find Joseph's number again. He could help me. If he calmed down.
Badwolf's POV
Jack was looking through papers, trying to find something. He found it and dialed the number. He paced and just was restless in all. Fal was asleep. Jack kept his voice low as he yelled at the guy on the phone. Then he hung up after a few more minutes.
I went the door I saw a few times a year and knocked. My little bro answered, "BW?"
"I came to check on you." I said, not lying.
"You looked up where my address to see how I was? You're scary." He squinted at me. I come over to watch football via Translocation app.
"Ouch. Can I stay here for tonight? The well's closed. You have two spare rooms, right? You said Junior and Jazz stay here sometimes." I frowned, knowing Fal was in one of them or his mother's room. I couldn't really check.
"Yes, take a spare." He sighed.
"What's wrong? Don't lie to me." I walked inside and closed the door.
"Noth- I don't wanna." Jack knew I'd hit him if he said nothing.
"Jack." I warned with my serious villain voice.
"I don't know how you'll react." He turned away.
"You're my brother. I want to help you." I admitted before realizing I never told him that I thought of him as a brother.
"Who adopted me? Was it your mom?" He asked, amused and trying to get away from the question.
"No, I just like to think that you're my little brother. Let me help you." I begged, coming inside.
"I'm fine." He lied. I raised my eyebrow. His lip quivered but he didn't say anything.
"No, you're not. I know you. You always get excited at Christmas, but your sister told me you hardly showed any emotion when you opened your presents." I told him. His mom doesn't like me, but Jane is nice.
"I did too." Jack said like a little kid.
"You're upset. I know you are. C'mon, talk to me." I turned into a wolf to do my puppy eyes.
"That's not fair," He pouted. After a minute, he couldn't stand it anymore and said,"You're a jerk."
"But I'm your jerk." I smiled.
"I'm afraid Cocoa won't forgive me for what I did. She said she's ok with it, but it's only been a week." Jack sighed.
That was heavy stuff I wasn't expecting at 1 am. I paused,"I'm sorry, man."
"It's just a fear." He frowned.
"No, you didn't know how Cocoa would react and you were afraid." I told him.
"I know. Can we go sit down? And talk about other stuff?" My little human brother asked. I followed him to the couch. He couldn't talk about Cocoa right now, that's ok. At least, I know what's wrong.
"I really do think of you as my brother. You're annoying and always bother me." I teased.
"I am not. You always want me to grade your papers for you." Jack shot back.
"But you never do." I pointed out.
"No, but somehow we get our work done when we're together." He mused.
"Were you at a strip club last night? I thought you didn't like them." I asked, smelling the odd mix of alcohol and women.
"I was hiding from Fal." Jack looked away. Think, think.
"Remember when Grimm thought we were lovers? That was weird, huh?" I got drunk and Jack had to take me back to my dorm. I accidentally held him hostage because I thought he was my son or something. He's pretty good about not holding that over my head.
"Yeah. You almost bit him. I wouldn't let you make out me if you had tried. I didn't know you well then." He laughed.
"You would have, too. He kept asking if I wanted kids. Yeah, you're a demisexual, right?" I heard Jack say yeah and felt him put his head on my shoulder. This was a special moment. I stayed still and let him rest. We didn't talk for a few minutes.
"BW?" My friend/adopted packmate murmured. He was close to falling asleep.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Love you." He drifted off. I carried him up to his room, it took a couple tries to find his room, but I did it. I tucked him into bed and went to find my room for the night.
