It turned out that full moon would be Hero's last at Hogwarts. The night of the full moon Hero was followed to her attic room by a Hufflepuff who had been getting suspicious of her. He had blocked her entrance to the room and she changed in front of him. She attacked him. She left the school as soon as she woke up. She couldn't live with what she had done. Shortly after, Shettiah got deported back to Egypt.
The victim of her werewolf attack was a 6th year Hufflepuff named Ethan Mathers. He died of his injuries a few days after the incident. His death was the first of many to stain Hero's innocence.
Hero and Remus ended their relationship during his summer vacation after having a huge argument. Hero was the one to decide that it was not going to work anymore. She told him that she was not the same person that he started to date in Hogwarts. At the end of their summer anything that was left of their relationship disappeared for Remus when he went back to Hogwarts and Hero went to join the death eaters. The last words Hero ever got from Remus were ones of hatred. It was a letter stating that he despised her and would not hesitate to attack her if she came anywhere near him.
The letter broke Hero's heart. She amerced herself in her role as a deatheater as away to try and ignore her hurting heart. She quickly became famous for all the wrong things. She seemed to be the perfect follower of the Dark Lord until he found out the truth and the tables turned once again only a year later.
(Page Break For the Last Time)
"Can can I say goodbye to someone?"
The Dark Lord thought carefully for a moment. The woman in front of him was one of his most trusted followers only to find out she was a trader the whole time. She did not deserve to have her final request honored, but then again she did do many things to put him ahead in the war. He came up with a thought if she could do it then she could have her last message but he highly doubted she could when staring death in the face.
"Yes, but only by way of the patronous. Regulus will do the honors after the message and he will be there to make sure you do not divulge any more of our secrets."
"M…m…me m..my lord?" Regulus stuttered.
"Yes, you. Do you have a problem with that?" There was a hard edge to his voice daring Regulus to question him and pay the consequences.
Regulus gulped. "No milord. I'm simply shocked that you would give me this honor."
"As you should be."
Regulus led her to a room with a single open window with black drapes flowing around it in the breeze. The door closed behind him. He looked at her wand in his hand and then Hero.
"How is this going to work?" He asked her. After hearing everything she has done he was very skeptical of the woman in front of him.
"Don't worry Regulus. I'm not going to try anything." She reassured him and he handed her the wand with a small doubt in the back of his head. "I knew this day was coming. It's time I pay for my crimes. You're a good person Regulus. Don't think of this as you killing a person, but a monster because that is what I have become a monster. You will be doing the world a favor." She said after seeing the fear of what he would do to her in his eyes. Her voice was strong but soft. "Expecto Petronium."
"What can you possibly think about that would be strong enough to produce a patronous?" He asked her curiously.
"Remus."
Regulus stared at the dazzling white lion that Hero had produced. It was beautiful. He looked back at Hero and saw tears running down her face. She made no attempt to hold them back. He stepped into the shadows of the room to try and give her some privacy.
"H-hi Remus," Hero choked out. She took several big breaths to try and calm herself before continuing. "I know your probably wondering why the hell Hero is even talking to me when I specifically told her that I didn't want to ever hear her voice, name, or anything to do with her again. You have every right to stop listening to this message. I would understand if you did. I would like to explain why I did what I did. Is that okay if I do that?" She asked Regulus in the end. He nodded his approval.
"Okay. Remus I ask you to try and remember something now. The day that we spent walking around and throwing mud at each other. Can you remember it? You asked me why I was kicked out of divination and I refused to tell you exactly why. That was the day that I saw what I had to do. I saw this. I saw that by joining Voldemort's side that I would save you from my fate that I have now. I saw that I had a chance to save everything that we worked towards when we were in school. I passed information to Dumbledore secretly. He was the one who knew my true reasons for joining the deatheaters.
"I knew that in order to get more information from Voldemort I had to make it believable. I had to make everyone hate me. It was the hardest thing I have ever done, lying to you. I almost couldn't do it. I almost doomed the Order because I couldn't lie to you."
She paused for a moment. "I'm sorry to bore you with this if you're still listening. I know you hate me. I hate myself so I can understand that. I killed all those people. Lives can't be replaced like vases and fingers can be. I destroyed something that can't be replaced." Hero broke down crying. After a few minutes, she began to speak again but her voice was ruff and broken. "I don't want your forgiveness Remus. What I have done cannot be forgiven. I just want you to remember me as that shy 6th year Gryffindor girl that was deathly afraid of fly and the first and hopefully not the last girl to reject Sirius Black." She let out a peal of maniacal laughter. "Please remember her. That's all I ask. Don't remember the woman who has murdered so many. That shy girl knew that she would die and everyone she ever cared about her would hate her even after her death. She did it to give you a chance. She didn't want you to have her fate because she knew that you would do this if she didn't.
"With the information I have giving Dumbledore you will have a head start against Voldemort. I know that the news of how I really died will not be found out because Voldemort is too proud to admit that he had been betrayed. I can tell you this. His forces have gone down quite a few as a parting gift from me. The whole reason I have sent this message is to say goodbye to you. You are the love of my life. I never stopped loving you. I want you to move on past me. Don't let the love you once had for me dictate your life. Fall in love again. Don't waste your life pinning away after me. I'm gone. You have to move on. Don't let me get in the way of your future. Give everyone my love and tell them I said goodbye. I can only hope that I made a big enough difference and this war ends soon. I love you, Hero.
"Okay Regulus hurry up. I'm already late for my date with death and I wouldn't want to keep him waiting. He isn't a very patient man." She gave him a smile and a thumb up.
"Avada Kadava!"
Hero's body fell to the floor. As the wand fell out of her still warm hands the lion ran off to find Remus. Regulus looked down and the body and shed a tear. Hero was a wonderful person and did not deserve the hand fate dealt her. He resolved to join her silent crusade and help fight against the Dark Lord in secret. He would not let the silence of lies that tears people apart affect him. He would bring the man responsible for so much pain down.
