Ragnar was still glaring at the demon. He felt so much rage, he remembered what that thing had done to him, but he couldn't forget what he did to his master. However, his thoughts were focused on how the thing even ended up here.
"You sure this is the demon your master sealed away?" Hiccup asked.
"There's no doubt about it," said Ragnar.
"I wonder why it was transported all the way from the northern continent to Lunar Island," said Toothless pondering.
"You don't think this demon has something to do with the island's curse, do you?" said Ruby.
"I wouldn't be surprised if it did," said Ragnar not looking her in the eye. "It may be enclosed with ice, but that thing is still alive."
"I like to know, why those three from before and this Cold Emperor of theirs want with this thing," said Hiccup.
"I don't know, but if that ice melts and Deliora is revived… there's no way we'd be able to stop it," said Ragnar.
"I hate to tell you this, but I think the ice is already melting," said Hiccup.
"But that's impossible!" Ragnar yelled. "My master, casted a spell called Ice Shell on this demon, enclosing it in a form of ice that can't be melted. It's so strong that not even you could melt it Hiccup."
"Then explain this," said Hiccup gesturing to the cave floor.
They gasped, because on the cave floor, was water. The water was rushing out of other tunnels but no doubt led to the ocean, but it was clear that the ice was melting.
"How! Why would they do this?!" Ragnar yelled.
"All excellent questions and to answer them we need answers," said Hiccup. He then turned towards the tunnel. "I say we go find those guys."
"Yeah," Ruby agreed.
"No!" said Ragnar firmly. The two of them stared at Ragnar, who hadn't removed his glaze from the frozen Deliora. "We stay here and wait."
"Wait for what?" Toothless asked.
"For the moon to come out," said Ragnar.
"Why does the moon matter?" Ruby asked confused.
"I have a feeling that the curse on this island and Deliora are somehow connected to it," said Ragnar. "And I heard those guys we saw earlier said something about collecting moon light."
"I heard that too," said Ruby.
Hiccup sighed. "Okay, Rag, we'll wait."
So they began to wait for nightfall, but it was extremely boring. As they sat there, Ruby can't but notice that Ragnar hadn't removed his gaze from the frozen Deliora. She began to wonder what that thing had done to him, Hiccup seemed to know, but she didn't like to ask.
Ruby sighed. "I know I agreed to wait, but this is so boring."
"Don't you have a spirit that can make this waiting more enjoyable?" Hiccup asked.
"Actually, I do," said Ruby and pulled out Lyra's key. "Open Gate of the Harp! Lyra!"
A bright light shone in the cave and once it faded, they saw a beautiful young woman with a harp in her hand standing in front of them. She had blond hair and sky blue eyes, her clothing was just a plain, white, lace dress and light blue sandals.
"I haven't seen you forever, Ruby," said Lyra smiling and approached her. "Say… how come you never called me anymore? It's not fair, I'd love to help you out, but you just ignore me."
"You're the one who told me you were only available three days a month," Ruby reminded.
Lyra was taken aback by this comment. "Are you sure about that?"
"Well, this conversation is amusing, if nothing else," said Toothless.
"So, what would you like to hear me sing? Any requests?" Lyra asked hopefully.
"Nope. Whatever you want," said Ruby.
"I think I've got a song you're going to love, Ruby," said Lyra.
"Lyra's got the most beautiful singing voice," Ruby explained.
"Can't wait to hear it," said Hiccup.
Lyra then sat down on a rock and began to play her harp. The sound that came from was so peaceful it made Hiccup forget all about Deliora and just listen to the beautiful melody. Then Lyra began to sing and Ruby was right it was the most beautiful singing voice he'd ever heard and he had heard a lot of singers on his travels.
Words are born into air,
And quick fade out in the wind.
But they find their way inside you,
Where they live on forevermore.
As Lyra song, Ragnar began to remember the days he spent with his master. She had been like a mother to him.
When the skies are dark and full of rain,
Look inside your heart.
The light, so warm will come and glow,
Shining just like the sun.
You can see, just how much you've grown,
How strong you are.
A love will open up to you,
And it starts from the day that you, first heard those words.
He then remembered all the lessons that Ur taught him and the number of times he'd had fallen on his face. She was patient, she kept on pushing him so that he could pass his limits and it worked, pretty soon he mastered the basics of Ice Makers Magic and she just smiled.
Ragnar then began to cry and this wasn't caught unnoticed by the others.
"Ragnar? What's wrong?" Ruby asked in a concerned tone.
"Nothing," said Ragnar as he brushed the tears away from his eyes. "I'm fine."
"You seem upset," said Toothless.
"Well, one of Lyra's talents is singing songs that relate to what her audience is feeling," said Ruby.
"Was it the song that made you cry?" Toothless asked.
"Leave him be," said Hiccup. "He just needs time to… deal with this."
"Maybe I should sing another song?" Lyra suggested.
"No offence, but I think we should remain quiet," said Ragnar. "We don't want to be found out."
A few hours later, both Ruby and Toothless were sleeping on the stone floor snoring peacefully. Hiccup, however, was focused on Ragnar, who hadn't moved an inch in the last few hours.
"You should try and get some sleep," he suggested.
"I'm fine," said Ragnar.
"Rag, I know what this means to you," Hiccup sighed. "But I think it's best if you don't focus on that demon."
"I didn't tell you my history so that you could rub it in my face," said Ragnar. "You have no idea how I feel."
"Yes, I do," said Hiccup closing his eyes.
Ragnar raised his eyes and realise what he said. He forgot that Hiccup had lost his mother when he was only a few months old and that his master had disappeared as well.
Ragnar turned to look at Hiccup and looked at him guiltily and said, "I'm sorry."
"It's all right, but were all friends here and will help you through this," Hiccup said placing his hand on Ragnar's shoulder.
Ragnar smiled. "Thanks, Hiccup."
Then the ground began to shake and Ruby and Toothless awoke.
"What's that weird noise?" Ruby asked.
"I don't know," said Hiccup.
Then suddenly a magic circle appeared on top of the cave and purple light began shone through it and landed right on top of Deliora.
"It's a beam of light," said Ruby.
"Shining down from the ceiling," said Hiccup confused.
"But why is it purple?" Ragnar asked curiously. Then he realised what it must be. "It must be moonlight."
"What's going on?" Toothless asked.
"It's shining on Deliora," said Ragnar.
"I don't think that's a coincidence," said Hiccup.
"Then let's go," said Ragnar. "We have to find out where light is coming from."
They nodded and they ran back down the tunnel. They soon found a staircase that led them back up into the temple and saw a Magic Circle raining down moonlight from the ceiling.
"Why would someone cast a Magic Circle inside this old temple?" said Ragnar.
"Let's find out," said Hiccup.
They then ran to the top of the temple.
When they got there, they saw some kind of ritual going on. There were people dressed as temple elders you would see in the temples devoted the gods. They were all standing in the circle holding hands and chanting some kind of spell.
The four them hid behind some rubble and looked at them curiously.
"What are they doing?" Hiccup asked.
They then saw several Magic Circles in the sky and they all seem to be leading towards the moon as a great column of purple light shone through them.
"The moon," said Ragnar.
"It looks like these robed figures are chanting some spell to collect the moonlight," said Hiccup.
"And shine it on Deliora," Ruby added. "But what for?"
"It's a Dispelling Spell called the Moon Drip," said a voice.
They turned and saw Lyra had followed them and was hiding among them.
"What are you still doing here?" Ruby asked.
Lyra ignored her and continued to stare at the ritual that was going on. "I see, so that's what they are trying to do," she said.
"Mind you feeling in for the peanut gallery here," said Ruby.
"They using the Moon Drip spell to melt the ice around that demon underground, so they can resurrect it," said Lyra.
"What!?" Hiccup gasped.
"They can't!" Ragnar snapped. "The ice used in an Ice Shell can't be melted."
"I hate to say it, but that's not entirely true," said Lyra. "While the Ice Shell is strong, it can be melted using Moon Drip. Focused moon energy can break any magical spell."
"Idiots!" Ragnar snapped clenching his fist. "They've never witnessed the wrath of Deliora."
"I think what the islanders believe is a curse against them is actually side-effects of the Moon Drip," said Lyra. "Concentrated moon energy can contaminate the body. I'm afraid those poor islanders have been exposed way too much of it."
"Then we got to stop them," said Hiccup getting up.
"Wait," said Ruby pulling Hiccup back. "Someone's coming this way."
Indeed she was right, a man wearing a large white cape, with a wide collar, golden edges and fur trimmings over the shoulders and a helmet that resembling skull with ram horns, it covered the man's upper face, revealing his mouth and nose, with a line of sharp teeth beneath it.
Behind him were the three guys they saw earlier.
"What a waste," Veger muttered. "I lost so much precious sleep for nothing. We searched all day for the intruders, but never found a trace of them."
"Maybe there wasn't any!" Torn yelled.
"I'm afraid I have some sad news Cold Emperor," said Ashelin and the Cold Emperor looked at her. "We thought we had intruders during the day, but it seems they got away somehow, I cannot speak of love in this situation."
"Intruders?" said the Cold Emperor, his voice sounded as cold as ice.
Ragnar eyes widened, he recognised that voice.
"So that guy is their leader," said Hiccup.
"Has Deliora been awaked yet?" Cold Emperor asked.
"It should be later tonight or tomorrow," said Ashelin.
"The time has almost come," said Cold Emperor. "If you see those intruders again, kill them. I don't want anyone getting in my way."
"They must've been villagers," Ashelin guessed. "They're the only other people on this island."
"Then destroy the village," Cold Emperor ordered.
"Yes, sir," said Ashelin.
"As you wish," said Veger as Torn growled.
"What?!" Hiccup gasped.
"But the villagers didn't have anything to do with it," said Ruby.
"Yeah, we got to stop them," said Hiccup.
"It's a shame there has to be bloodshed," said Cold Emperor.
Ragnar just stared at the Cold Emperor as if he'd seen a ghost. "That voice," he said. "No. It can't be."
"I won't sit around and let them harm the villagers," said Hiccup getting up. "We're the intruders you're after!"
Everyone stared at him.
"Guess there's no going back now," said Ruby reaching for her celestial keys.
"I wanna help out too," said Lyra.
"Sorry, Lyra, you're not suited for battle," said Ruby.
"Ah, you're no fun," said Lyra and vanished.
The Cold Emperor and his comrades then noticed the Dragon Tail emblem on Hiccup's left shoulder.
"I know that Mark," said Ashelin. "There from Dragon Tail."
"Interesting," said Veger. "Those villages must have gone to the Viking guilds for help."
"Don't worry about them, go and eradicate the village" said Cold Emperor.
Everyone stared at him.
"What?!" Ruby gasped.
"But why?" Hiccup asked.
"Anyone who stands in my way, whether deliberately or not, is my enemy," said Cold Emperor.
"Then the name Cold Emperor suits you, because you definitely have a heart of ice," said Hiccup.
Suddenly Ragnar ran past him and charge at the Cold Emperor.
"Why you!" He yelled. He then brought his hands together. "Stop this crazy ceremony, right now!"
He then slammed his hand onto the floor and created a tower of ice spikes sending it straight at him. Cold Emperor and his comrades dodged the attack and the Cold Emperor raised his hand and the same kind of magical circle that Ragnar used appeared.
The cold Emperor then slammed his hand onto the floor and created a tower of ice spikes straight at them too. However, unlike Ragnar's, these ones were larger and there were many more than them. The two ice spikes collided and shattered.
"He's an ice Viking too," Toothless gasped.
Ragnar glared at the Cold Emperor. "Lyon!" he snarled.
Hiccup and Ruby gasped. Ragnar knew this guy!
"How could you," said Ragnar. "Do you have any idea what you're doing?"
"Oh, Ragnar, it's been quite a while, hasn't it," said Lyon.
"So that's Lyon," said Hiccup and Ruby on Toothless stared at him dumbfounded. He knew him too.
"Why would you revive Deliora?" Ragnar demanded.
"To think that you were one of the Vikings called to this island to help the poor villages," said Lyon. "Did you come knowing you would find me? If not the gods have a strange sense of humour. Not that it makes any difference to me."
"An acquaintance of yours Cold Emperor?" Veger asked.
Lyon ignored him and said, "Do as you are ordered, I can handle the intruders on my own."
"Yes, sir," they said and ran off.
"You're not getting away from me," said Hiccup and ran after them.
"Hiccup, don't go near him!" Ragnar yelled.
But too late, Lyon raised his hand and cold air surrounded Hiccup. Before Hiccup knew it, ice will slowly covering his body.
"Hiccup!" Ruby yelled.
"Toothless, get Ruby out of here!" Ragnar ordered.
"You got it," said Toothless.
Toothless grabbed Ruby and the two of them flew up into the air, leaving Hiccup and Ragnar with Lyon.
"Wait!" Ruby yelled.
Ragnar sent tower of ice spikes at Lyon again, but he just created an ice shield with a flick of his hand.
"I can't move," said Hiccup.
Indeed, he couldn't move, because his arms, legs and head were free, but the rest of his body was encased in ice.
Up in the air, Toothless was taking Ruby a safe distance away from the temple. Ruby, however, was not happy about this.
"Hold on, we can't leave Hiccup like this," said Ruby.
"He was hit with a type of Ice Magic that instantly freezes the air," Toothless explained. "If we stayed there any longer we would have been frozen too."
"Who cares? We gotta say them," said Ruby.
"To make it any harder that is," said Toothless. "Besides, who would help the villagers if all of us had been frozen?"
Ruby eyes widened when realisation hit her. Toothless was light, if they were frozen who'd be able to stop Lyon's flunkies from destroying the village.
"I'm sorry, Toothless I wasn't thinking," said Ruby apologetically. "Now, let's go and say that village."
"I thought you would never ask," said Toothless.
Meanwhile, Lyon was looking at Hiccup and Ragnar. Though he was looking at Ragnar more than Hiccup.
"You distracted me long enough for the girl and the cat to escape," said Lyon. "Chivalrous, but ultimately pointless. There's no way those two could stop my minions."
"I wouldn't underestimate them," said Hiccup.
"Sorry about this, Hiccup," said Ragnar.
"About what?" Hiccup asked.
"This!" said Ragnar and gave him a big push.
Hiccup then began to roll down the temple into the forest. "Ragnar! What are you doing?!" he yelled as he rolled down the cliff.
Ragnar now then turned his attentions onto Lyon.
"I see you're reckless as ever," said Lyon. "Wasn't he one of your allies?"
"My best friend in fact, but you and I both know that with one spell you could have blown up that ice and him with it," said Ragnar.
"So, you chose to send him safely outside of the range of my magic," said Lyon. "That was a very clever move."
"I don't understand, why you're trying to pull the superior act with me, Lyon, you're not!" said Ragnar angrily and took a step forward. "Where not Ur's student anymore."
"I am well aware of that… painfully aware," said Lyon and removed his helmet. His eyes were ice blue and he had snowy white hair, though his face was very stern and lacked any emotion. "Our beloved teacher is no longer of this world."
"Her final act was sealing that monster away," Ragnar reminded. "Are you really so careless that you try to destroy our masters legacy?"
Lyon glared at him. "Don't delude yourself," he said. "We both know you're the one who killed Ur," Ragnar looked down at the ground ashamed, "and yet, you don't seem to feel any guilt. How cruel."
Meanwhile, about a mile away from the temple, Hiccup was trying to pull himself onto his feet. It wasn't easy, with all the ice covering him, but he managed to succeed.
"Oh, Rag, why did you have to fight him on your own?" said Hiccup.
He then tried to melt the ice off of him, however even with his fire the ice wouldn't melt.
"Ah, his eyes is as strong as Ragnar's, it'll take me hours to melt for this," said Hiccup. He looked over the temple. "Too much work to climb back up, my best bet is to return to the village."
He then slowly made his way towards the village, try not to topple over from the weight of the ice.
Meanwhile, not far from the island, a pirate ship was making its way to Luna Island. All of the pirates were lying on the floor unconscious as if a storm had hit them, all except for the captain, who funnily enough wasn't even in charge of his own ship.
"Why do ya want ter go ter Luna Island?" the captain asked looking over his shoulder.
"Just shut up and steer," said a very fierce female voice.
"If ya drop us off somewhere ya can have the boat," said the captain nervously. "Please I'm begging ya lady. I've heard the islands curse and anyone who steps foot on its soil, turns into a demon."
"I'll take that chance," said the fierce voice again.
"But why do you have ter go there?" the captain asked dumbfounded.
"Rules are broken and the guilty must be punished," said the voice. "And that all I can tell you."
"I fear for those you are about to punish," said the captain, "because no one can stand against Astrid, the Valkyrie Queen of Dragon Tail.
Indeed, Astrid was the one commanding the ship and she was heading straight for Luna Island to bring her teammates back to Dragon Tail.
Meanwhile, on Luna Island, the remains of Lyon's minions were looking down as Ragnar and Lyon are ready to fight one another.
"Enough with these games, Ragnar," said Lyon tiredly. "You're the one that murdered Ur, so just admit it." Ragnar didn't say a thing still looking ashamed. "I'm surprised you have the gall to even speak her name!"
He then raised his hand and an ice sculpture resembling a puffer fish slammed into Ragnar. Ragnar crashed into some of the temples rubble and slowly got to his feet.
"What's wrong?" Lyon asked. "Don't tell me the guilt is finally getting to you. I'm warning you, don't try to interfere. Whether you like it or not, I'm resurrecting Deliora."
"I won't let you," said Ragnar.
Lyon then tossed his helmet to the ground and raised his hand. "It's like old times, but I've grown much stronger since then," he said. "Ice-Make: Eagle!"
Then several eagle ice sculptures flew out of his hand and charge at Ragnar.
"Ice-Maker: Shield!" Ragnar yelled.
Ragnar then created his shield, but the eagles flew over it and pounded him.
"While your specialty is creating in inanimate objects, Static Ice-Make Magic, mine is creating living creatures, Active Ice-Make Magic," said Lyon. "Did you forget my ice has the ability to move?"
Ragnar ignored him and jumped into the air, he then placed his hands together. "Ice-Make: Hammer!"
A large ice hammer appeared in front of him and he slammed it towards Lyon. However, Lyon wasn't fazed by this.
"Ice-Make: Ape!" he yelled.
Suddenly, an ice sculpture of an ape appeared behind him and smashed the hammer into pieces.
"How pathetic," said Lyon. "You still only use two hands when casting your Ice-Make spells."
"Yeah, because Ur taught us," Ragnar reminded. "Single-handed spellcasting is incomplete and unbalanced."
"Well, I'm the exception to that rule," said Lyon. "I surpassed Ur skill level a long time ago."
"Shut your mouth," Ragnar growled.
"Regardless, ever since we've been children you've never been able to land a single on me," said Lyon.
Ragnar ignored him and placed his hands together again. "I'm a lot stronger now than I used to be," he said. "Ice-Make: Geyser!"
Suddenly he froze the ground in front of him, creating a tower of ice spikes that surrounded Lyon. All of Lyon's minions ran screaming, but the tower of ice spikes broke apart and Lyon just stood there as if nothing had happened.
"Nothing has changed," said Lyon. "I was always the superior student and I'm still stronger than you. I was able to master single-handed Ice-Make Magic, while you still have to rely on two hands."
Ragnar just growled.
"It's just like the old days," Lyon continued. "We may have chosen different parts, but we're frozen in time, our rankings as Vikings never change."
Lyon raises hand and the Magic Circle appeared over his head. Next moment, a dragon made of ice grabbed Ragnar and tossed him into the air.
"That's why I'm resurrecting Deliora, to prove that I am more than Ur's star pupil," said Lyon as Ragnar crashed to the ground. "As a child, I only ever dreamed of one thing. The day I surpass Ur's abilities as a Viking. But you ruined it for me, Ragnar. After she died I thought my lifelong dream of surpassing her had been dashed. Until I realised, there was one way. If I can defeat Deliora, a demon so strong that not even Ur could vanquish it, then I would have surpassed her power, my dream finally becoming a reality."
"Listen to me, that thing destroyed everything we cared about," said Ragnar trying to make him see reason, "and you want to bring it back, just to prove how strong you are… that's insane! Please, you can't do this!"
Lyon glared at Ragnar with such hatred he had never seen. Next moment, several smaller ice dragons appeared for the ground and struck him.
"'Please, you can't do this'," said Lyon and attacked him with several ice eagles. "Funny you say that, those were the exact words we said to you that fateful day. Sure you haven't forgotten?" He then summoned another ice ape to attack Ragnar. "It's because you challenged Deliora that Ur lost her life!"
"I can't stand you even speaking her name in my presence! Be gone!" Lyon then summoned another ice dragon to attacking him. "This is the end, Ragnar!"
