Chapter 11 = I [Almost] Killed Detective Rose

Just as Kate was about to stab Detective Rose, Detective Rose grabbed the dagger for evidence and took Kate by the arm. "What are you doing? Let me go! I demand you let me go!" screamed Kate.

"We have been looking for you, my dear. I think you are not as angelic as it seems," replied Detective Rose.

"Well, don't blame me, ma'am. I've been acting under orders from my master," said Kate. Franklin was in ghost formation and he heard Kate saying this, so he crept behind her.

"Who's your master so I can talk to him?" Franklin then put his hand on Kate's back which made her eyes turn green.

"I mustn't tell you," she said. Then she took the dagger from Detective Rose's hand and walked away. But, she then turned around and asked her, "Where's your husband?" Detective Rose tried to ignore her by not listening. Again, Kate's eyes turned green and she took her by the neck choking her.

"My… husband is… in the… ballroom," said Detective Rose choked up. Kate then let go of her and Detective Rose fell to the ground unconscious. Kate then dropped a twenty dollar bill on her chest.

"Pleasure doing business with you," she said. Then Kate walked off with no sighting.

Five minutes later, Detective Rose woke up and found the money on her. She was terrified and didn't want her husband to get killed so she ran downstairs screaming. Just as she was running, she ran into Mrs. White and they both fell to the ground, but this time Detective Rose was okay.

"Have you found Kate yet?" asked Mrs. White.

"I have and I will never see her ridiculous face again!" Detective Rose said angrily.

"What happened?"

"I found your daughter in the attic and she had a dagger in her hand. I stopped her and that little devil child choked me to death!"

"That sounds terrible. Kate would never do such thing."

"Oh she did, and if you don't believe me then look at this." Detective Rose didn't know Kate took the dagger away from her, so she tried pulling the dagger out of her pocket but it was gone. "Oh no! Lynne, I knew I stole the dagger from her. She must have grabbed it while I was unconscious." Just then Wadsworth appeared out of breath.

"Wadsworth darling, what's wrong now?" Lynne asked.

"Come to the ballroom now!" he demanded. The two ladies looked at each other in agreement and ran with him. Just as they entered the ballroom, they saw Doctor Gray's body lying flat on the ground. Mrs. White then stared down at his back and saw the dagger Detective Rose was talking about.

"OH MY GOD!" shouted Detective Rose. At the same time, Mrs. White fainted. She now believed Detective Rose that Kate wasn't angelic after all.

Back in the study, Wadsworth was asking Detective Rose questions. "Was there anything strange going on out there?"

"Well, Wadsworth, I took her by the arm and she said she was acting under orders by her master. Then I noticed a twenty dollar bill on my chest after I woke up. The weirdest thing was that Kate's eyes would turn green!" replied the detective.

"Wait. I know who it is." Wadsworth then narrowed down the clues. "Orders, master, bribing? Franklin…"

"Who?"

"My father's soul still lives in this house. He probably thinks I shouldn't have married Lynne. Then why was he using Kate for orders?"

"Maybe because he doesn't think she's normal…"
