Chapter 11: A Living Nightmare
"Are you okay?" Jason asked Sam, looking her over. She was clutching the two younger children to her, who were both crying.
"I'm fine." She glanced at the little kids, then the older two. "Are you guys alright?"
"We're fine." The girl answered. "Where are they?"
"Who?"
"The others."
"What others?"
"Sam, I found Emily. There was a girl named Rebecca, someone named Amelia, two little boys, and a little girl."
"Are they safe?" the older boy questioned.
"I don't know. I know that Rebecca and the three children got off."
"There were more." The girl said. "A new baby. We didn't see it, but I could hear it crying. It just came, maybe last night? I'm not sure."
"Ava." Sam mumbled, tears filling her eyes. "Jason, we have to go back in there."
"Sam! Jason!" Nikolas ran down the stairs. "I've got Ava!"
"Oh my God." Sam reached out her arms, pulling her daughter into them. "Thank you, Nikolas." She kissed her baby. "Thank you so much." She looked back at the girl. "You said more. Was there someone else?"
"Another little girl. She's been there for a while. How old do you think she is, Logan?"
The older boy (apparently named Logan) shrugged. "I would say at least five."
"I'm sorry, who are you guys?" Nikolas questioned.
"Helena's children." The girl answered. "She's led us since we were all born."
"What do you mean 'led' you?" Jason wondered.
Nikolas sighed. "Mind control. This is the exact same thing she tried to do to Sam and me when we were younger. She's set on controlling everyone in her family. But I don't understand who all of you belong to, because I know you're not mine and you're not Sam's."
Logan shook his head. "We have no idea who we are. We just have names."
"So you didn't know all the children?" Sam asked. "It's just you and…"
"Caterina." The older girl supplied. "The little boy is Colton."
"What about you?" Jason looked at the crying little girl who was standing near Sam, cowering away from everyone in fear. "What's your name, sweetie?"
"Scarlett." She mumbled.
"Viktor called her Scarlett Adelaide Nikoletta. Apparently she's the ultimate Cassadine." Sam whispered. "What does that mean?"
"I have no idea." Jason answered. Sam turned back to the kids.
"How many were there? The three of you, you said you knew there were two other little girls, a new baby who I'm guessing is my daughter Ava, and a little girl who is about five."
"There are more children, but we don't know them. They limit how much we interact because they're scared we might try to work together and escape."
"I helped three children, a woman named Emily, and a woman named Rebecca off the boat. There were two little boys, one who was pretty young and one who was probably four or five. There was a little girl too, but there's no way she's five."
Before they could see anything else, they saw a woman climb out of the wreckage in the water. She had a little girl in her arms.
"Amelia!" Caterina gasped.
Sam's eyes widened. "She looks just like…"
"I know." Jason agreed. He and Nikolas ran over to help. Nikolas held the little girl as Jason lifted the woman up.
"We've got to go." Nikolas told Jason and Sam. "Let's get back to the car where everyone else is."
Jason lifted up Scarlett, who buried her face in his neck and clung to him tightly. Logan lifted up Colton, and Sam carried Ava. Nikolas walked next to Caterina and Amelia and carried the little girl, who looked about five, so they were guessing she was the child Caterina and Logan knew about.
Once they got back towards where the cars were, it was pandemonium. Random children were everywhere and they didn't know how to handle it all.
"Daddy!" Jake ran over to Jason, reaching his arms up. Jason tried to pass Scarlett off to Carly, but the little girl refused to move.
Emily went to her brother. "Let me try." She leaned forward, whispering something into the child's ear. Scarlett shook her head, so Emily said something else to her, and then she took her from Jason.
"We need to get somewhere safe." Amelia stated. Carly, Robin, and Patrick stared at her with their mouths open in shock, seeing that she looked identical to Claudia.
"My house." Carly suggested. "We need to contact the police."
Lucky stepped forward. "I took care of it. They're going to send a few officers to take statements and everything so we can figure out who all of these children belong to."
Sam noticed the look shared between Emily, Rebecca, and Amelia, but she didn't say anything. They ushered everyone into the cars (which was difficult) and then headed towards Carly's house.
"We need to start from the beginning. We'll have everyone introduce themselves, okay?" Sam said, taking charge as soon as everyone was comfortable in Carly's living room. Michael and Morgan were with Sonny tonight and Jax was out of town, so there weren't extra people to add to the confusion. "I'll start. My name is Samantha McCall. I'm married to Jason, but we're in the process of getting a divorce. We have a daughter named Ava, who is four months old, and we just found out today that apparently Jason's son Jake, who is three, is also mine."
Jason was sitting next to Sam, so he picked up where she left off. "I'm Jason. Sam and I also had a daughter we were going to name Lila, but she was stillborn."
"I'm Carly. I have three kids- Michael is 18, Morgan is 13, and Josslyn is 11 months. I'm married to Jax, but he isn't Michael and Morgan's father. Tonight, I was told that Josslyn might not actually be my baby because she could have been switched at the hospital."
"I'm Robin, and this is my husband, Patrick. We have a daughter named Emma who is almost three." Her eyes filled with tears. "Well…I guess she's not actually Patrick's after all. Emma was conceived from in-vitro because I have HIV and according to Helena, our stuff was tampered with and Emma is actually Nikolas's."
"I'm Nikolas and I have a son named Spencer, who is four, and twins who I was lying and said they were mine named Adrienne and Aiden, who are almost a year old. I learned today that Adrienne is actually mine, Aiden is not. I was engaged to Emily before she supposedly died in a car accident in 2007." He smiled at the woman sitting next to him.
Emily picked up from there. "I'm Emily. Jason's my older brother, and I was engaged to Nikolas, but Spencer isn't my biological son. I was taken by Helena in the middle of 2007." She sighed and looked down at the baby boy in her arms, who she had been holding onto for most of the night. "This is my son, Brennan. He's five months old."
Nikolas turned to Emily in shock. "You have a son?"
"I think so. He has my eyes." He watched in confusion. "Helena used Rebecca, Amelia, and I as incubators for babies she created through in-vitro."
Everyone was surprised to hear that. They knew Helena was demented, but didn't think she was that crazy.
Lucky sighed. "My name is Lucky. I've been married to Elizabeth Webber twice, and both times she cheated on me. Before I married her the first time, she had a son named Cameron who is six, and I've been acting like his father since he was born. We got married; she cheated on me and had Jake with Jason, though I guess he was never really hers, and tried to pass him off as mine. After I found out he wasn't, we got a divorce. We worked through our problems and got married again and she found out she was pregnant, but she had been cheating on me with my half-brother, Nikolas. She had Adrienne and Aiden and told me that they weren't mine, but today Helena and Viktor told us that Aiden is actually mine. Oh, and for a little while, we thought that Sam and Jason's daughter Ava was mine, but it turns out that was just a set up and we never actually slept together."
Rebecca started speaking next. "I'm Rebecca. My biological mother was Paige Bowen, who gave birth to both Emily and I. She sold me on the black market and a relative of Viktor and Helena ended up buying me. They've been trying to raise me to be a model Cassadine, but they didn't think I was forming well enough. I found Emily by accident, and then I was brought into the whole incubation plan."
"My name is Amelia. You all say I look like someone named Claudia, but it isn't a story like Rebecca and Emily's because I have no idea who that is. I don't remember much from my past, but apparently, my parents were some cousin of Helena's and after they died, she took me in. They used to give us drugs to try and confuse us so we wouldn't have a chance to escape. I was given too much and I was in a coma for three years. The first thing I remember when I woke up was giving birth to a baby."
Because all of the adults had gone, the kids picked up from there.
"My name is Logan Aleksander Cassadine and I'm sixteen. I've been with Helena and Viktor since I was born and I have no idea who my parents are."
"I'm Caterina Noelle Cassadine. I'm fourteen years old. Helena said that my father died and my mother didn't want me, so they gave me to her after I was born." She looked down at the baby she was holding. "This is Colton Mikhail Cassadine. He's eleven months old. Amelia gave birth to him, but he's not hers. He, Logan, and I have been kept in a room together since he was born and we've been taking care of him."
The little brown eyed boy who had caught Jason's attention when he first went onto the boat was next. "I'm Dominic Ezra Cassadine and I'm five. I'm a big boy now, right Becca?"
"You're right, baby." Rebecca smiled at him in approval. "Tell them your name, sweetie." She nudged the child next to her.
"Wiwa Victowia."
"Lila Victoria Cassadine. She's two." Rebecca translated.
"I'm Scarlett." Scarlett said next. She held up two fingers. "I'm this many."
"Scarlett was the chosen Cassadine." Emily told everyone. "She was treated better than the rest of the children."
"I'm Anneliese Bellona Cassadine. I'm five." The little girl Amelia had gotten off the boat with stated. "Everyone calls me Ellie."
"So Logan is 16, Caterina is 14, Dominic and Ellie are 5, Lila and Scarlett are 2, Colton is 11 months, and Brennan is 5 months?" Sam asked. Rebecca, Emily, Amelia, and the kids all nodded. "Did you give birth to all the younger kids?"
"I had Scarlett and Brennan. Rebecca had Dominic. Amelia had Colton. Logan, Caterina, Ellie, and Lila came to us." Emily answered. "But the three of us had more children than just these."
Jason frowned. "Where are they all? Did we forget some on the boat?"
"No." Rebecca shook her head. "They could be anywhere. I'm sure there are some back in Russia, some passed away when they were born, we had miscarriages, and they gave away some. You wouldn't believe the nightmare we've been living."
