Hello everyone! I know these pesky author notes are hard to avoid, but listen up. I have felt as if this story is getting very dry. Like most humans, my ideas are very limited. So instead of pondering ideas for a romantic love story, I thought I might change it up a bit and add some drama and action. I will also add an expansion of characters from the show for more dialogue. This way I can expand my idea range and be able to post quicker. Sorry for the inconvenience. Well, on with the story.

~Mordecai~

It was a cold winter night. The grass was soaked with excess rain water leaking from the grey skies. The large expansion of land was coated with wet rocky terrain. I trudged my way towards the brightly lit park house in front of me. I had wrapped myself in a warm winter green coat. My feathers were soaked and felt heavy against the force of gravity. I heard the pattering of rain splashing against the concrete ground, surrounding me in a wave of puddles. Eventually, I had gotten to the soaked, slippery stairs. I pushed myself up the stairs and proceeded to walk towards the squeaky door. However, just as I put my hand onto the door knob, I felt a presence watching me from beyond the fog. I turned around hoping to meet the figure who was gazing at me. I felt the feathers on my neck stand up on end, but not a soul or a sound could be heard in the distance. I decided to shrug it off and walk into the warm sheltering house. I stepped far inside and dried my feet upon the rug. I set my coat down on a nearby counter and walked towards the neatly decorated living room. I gazed upon the brightly lit television. I watched as the screen flickered I'm front of me. I heard loud munching noises and the sound of someone scrummaging through a cellophane bag. I gazed down at the furry brown and black creature. He appeared to be eating a bag of salt and vinegar chips and holding a controller coated in grease. An evil grin plastered my face as a sinister idea formed in my head. I leaned forward upon the couch in a ready stance. I reached out and quickly grabbed his flimsy shoulders.

"Raaaah!" I yelled, thus earning a scream protruding from the creature as he tumbled forward and onto the coffee table. I sat back and laughed. A tear protruded from my eye as I could not contain my laughter.

"Not cool!" He yelled at me as he brushed his fur off. He stood up and met my gaze. I felt hatred and non amusement form in his eyes.

"You were so scared!" I nagged him.

"I was not" he scolded at me, "Just a little surprised." He shot back. He hopped off the polished coffee table and stared at me. I was grinning from ear to ear. "Stop talking!" he shouted as I opened my beak for more accusations.

"Whatch you playing, Rigby?" I asked changing the subject, my gaze drifting from his, towards the brightly lit television in the back.

"MineTurtles!" Rigby exclaimed loudly, "Wanna play? He asked, with a look of excitement plastered upon his face. I eyed the television suspiciously before nodding my head.

"Sure!" I reluctantly gave in to his wishes. I sat down and proceeded to grab the slippery controller from the floor.

"Ugh! Rigby really, how do you get so much food in these?" I asked profoundly. He shot me a look of hatred before setting up the game. After hours of contently playing mindless video games, I decided to grab a quick drink.

"Rigby you want anything to drink?" I asked.

"Sure!" he accepted my request, and I set out on my journey towards the fridge. Upon heading halfway there, I received a text from my buzzing phone in my hoodie pocket. I take it out and examine the message.

Margaret: Hey Mordecai, I was wondering if your free tomorrow?

Mordecai: Yea, why?

Margaret: A new amusement park just opened up not to far from here, and I was wondering if you'd like to come?

Mordecai: Really? Sure I'd love to come!

Margaret: Great! Bring a friend to?

I put my phone away, happily walked to the fridge, grabbed two cans of fresh soda, and set them down upon the coffee table.

"What took so long?" Rigby asked without taking his eyes off the screen. I felt a smile form upon my face.

"How would you like to come to an amusement park with Margaret and I?" I asked well grinning. Rigby quickly paused the game and drifted his gaze towards mine. He had a look of confusion and bewilderment plastered on his face.

"Seriously?" He asked, obviously shocked that I would bring him along.

"Why not?! I said, "It'd be fun!" I watched as the mainly depressed Rigby sprung up into the air with excitement.

"Thanks dude!" he said as he quickly fist bumped me. Rigby is a great friend. He really is like a brother to me, I mean most of the time we spend together is us just having good fun. We mostly screw things up and his childish behavior gets us into wacky adventures. Some of them are more or less than regular. But, nonetheless we end up fixing the problem in the end. Also his childish ways end up getting on my nerves, and sometimes I just want him to grow up. Nonetheless he's really cool to hang around, and I have to admit that the adventures we go on are far more eccentric than any date I've ever been on with Margaret. And no matter what craziness he gets me into he's still my bro. Upon pondering Rigby's definition, my brain began to slowly shut down. A wave of drowsiness washes over as I watched the content Rigby hit random buttons on the controller.

"I'm going to bed, dude." I yawned at him. He paused the game and turned around.

"I'll be up there in a minute!" he smiled, then quickly turned his gaze back towards the colorful television. I stroked the back of my head feathers as I walked up the stairs. Quickly, I opened the door to my room and let my eyes adjust to the darkness. I hold out my hands reaching for my bed in panic. I quickly drew my foot forward and slammed it upon my dresser. I muffled my panicked scream in agony.

"Son of a nutcracker!" I held back my words as much as I could. Eventually, I crawled into the warm embrace of my bed. I let the feeling of drowsiness wash over my numb body, and pull me towards the eternal darkness.

The next morning I was woken up to a loud banging noise. I shot up out of bed, not caring where the covers landed. I stood up and stretched my legs out before going to investigate. I opened my door and looked around the hallway. The loud banging seemed to be protruding from downstairs. I couldn't make out any audible dialogue coming from the sound. I slowly walked down the stairs with caution. I peeked through the doorway. The kitchen was brightly lit with orange and red light. I watched the ball of brown and black fur panicking.

"Rigby!?" I yell towards the small mammal. His gaze shot towards mine with a look of shock.

"Mordecai, help!" he yelped at me well backing away towards the wall. My eyes began to fully grasp at what I was looking at. Red and orange flames came bursting from the kitchen oven. My eyes began to fully widen as a feeling of panic struck my heart. I rushed towards the emergency fire extinguisher but it was to late. The flaming fireball had enveloped the entire route towards the fire extinguisher. Sweat began to pour down my head. The pores in my skin were naturally opening up. Quickly, without thinking, I jumped into the flames. My mind went rushing as I felt waves of pure heat envelope my body. It wasn't long before I began to process that I was on fire. I dove down towards the ground in pain. The feeling of burning to death washes over me, as I feel the flames extinguishing on my entire body. My feathers were fading from there original shade of deep blue. I made eye contact with the fire extinguisher. I eyed the thing like it was a god, before sprinting towards it. I slid on my knees and grabbed the red extinguisher. I pulled the safety guard out and quickly pulled the trigger. I let the white foam envelope my entire body and surroundings. I watched as the flames began to retreat from me. I spun around in circles to put out as much of the fire as I could. Soon, it was over. The fire had died out and all that was left in the room was grey cloudy smoke. I looked around inhaling, filling my lungs with smoke. I coughed, trying to look for a source of oxygen. Instantly my mind stopped and I felt my legs gave out. My lungs were fully filled with smoke and carbon dioxide. I uttered three last word before I collapsed onto the cold hard floor.

"Rigby you fu-"

My mind went unconscious for what seemed like days. I remember having coughing fits, waking me up from my unconscious slumber. Eventually my eyes made contact with one another's. My mind slowly tried to form an image for me. My world was left swirling. I felt dazed, dizzy. Eventually, I ended up picking myself from the ground. I sat upright and began to process what had just occurred. My mind was still on the verge of collapsing again. I turned around, hearing a faint but audible mumble. My eyes met the thick black round eyes of my so called brother. His eyes were plastered with concerned.

"Rigby, what happened?" I asked knowing god well what occurred. He frowned at me and gave me a sincere apology.

"I was making a cake for tonight, but-" he cut off leaving me to gather the rest of the evidence. It wasn't hard to contemplate what happened well I was asleep. I sat back and rubbed my forehead delicately, a burning headache began to form.

"Uh, Mordecai?" Rigby was trying to harness my attention. I turned my gaze to the raccoon with a look of annoyance upon my face. However my eyes were met with a clean glass plate. The glass had showed my reflection. Unable to process my thoughts I asked, "Who's that?!" Rigby gulped before replying.

"That's you!" he turned his gaze from mine, to guilty to look. I stared at my features. The fire took a huge toll upon my physical approach. I stared at myself in shock at what I had become. My once blue feathers were now a navy blue and coated with white foam. I looked away from my reflection and shot up. Rigby was caught off guard by my recent outbursts, and nervously backed away. I eyed him with a look of hatred.

"What have you done to me!" I yelled straight at his vulnerable face. His gaze shifted from mine and towards the bland wall. He was unable to look at me, but I somehow thought he still could see me in his peripheral vision. I quickly stormed away from the charred kitchen and trudged my way upstairs. I opened my bathroom door with fury and stared in shock. In the mirror was a charred, ugly, battered looking me. I quickly turned on the faucet in a panic. I began to wash my face, hoping that the black char would soak off. I dried my face off but to see no color difference. "Great" I thought in annoyance. I'm a navy blue jay for the rest of my life. I rested my head in my arms and proceeded to let out my emotions. Questions fled through my mind, like, "What is Margaret going to think of you?" or, "What is society going to call you?" a tear shed down my face and dropped on my arm. I felt like a part of me died in that fire, whether it was my self esteem or physical appearance, I don't know. All I could hope for now is positive feedback from my new look. I stepped into the shower and proceeded to get rid of much of the color as possible. Instantly the burning hot water slapped my red hot skin. Forgetting I was burned.

After hours of scrubbing and trying to get the black color out of my feathers, I gave up. I got out of the shower and got dressed into an a outfit. I wore a gray sweatshirt with jeans and a pair of grey vans. I put my hood up and stared at myself in the mirror. I was secretly hoping to hide my color from other people.

Feeling satisfied with my color hiding, I walked downstairs. I looked at the clock and hoped it wasn't to late to meet up with Margaret later.

"Mordecai?" I heard a faint audible voice from across the room.

"Yes?" I asked with an annoyed tone. I watched as he slowly walked towards me, hands behind his back. His head was hung low as he asked, "Am I still allowed to come to the amusement park with you?" he was twiddling his thumbs waiting for my approval.

"Fine." I uttered. "Catch up though!" I yelled as I stomped my way towards the garage. "Were taking my car!" I yell before closing the door and hopping in.

"Yes!" I hear Rigby yelling excitedly. I quickly checked on my appearance in the rear view mirror before backing up. I don't want to be seen like this, especially with Margaret.

I quickly drove in the amusement park parking lot, hoping to find a parking space. I dialed Margaret's number and we both directed each other towards a parking spot together. Rigby, being the child that he is, opened the door before I even parked the car, earning him a nasty landing on the concrete.

"Ah, dude really!" he yelled at me.

"Your fault!" I quickly retorted back. I pulled the keys from the ignition and stepped out of the vehicle. I closed the door and walked towards Margaret's vehicle. I opened the car door for her as she stepped out.

"Thank you, gentleman!" she said before stroking my cheek softly. I swear, I could never get tired of Margaret's contact and being. She struck into my world like an abrupt thunderstorm, and she was utterly perfect. I eyed her exquisite features almost instantaneously as she got out of the vehicle. She was wearing a cute blue sweater with skinny jeans and brown boots. However, I was snapped out of my daze by the questioning of Margaret.

"Should we get going then?" She persuaded me along. Just then I heard another faint door closing. I turned my gaze towards the faint sound to see a small mole with brunette colored hair exiting Margaret's vehicle.

"Hello, I'm Eileen." She exclaimed with happiness.

"Yes, this is my friend, Eileen!" Margaret explained to the group.

"Hi I'm R-Rigby." Rigby outstretched his hand for her to grasp. She happily shook his hand and smiled.

"Glad to meet you Rigby?" She looked confused as to why the raccoon was making exquisite eye contact with her. After the group introduced themselves to her, we made our way towards the entrance of the park.

"It sure was nice of you to invite your friend along." Margaret whispered to me.

We locked arms well we walked in line.

"I really didn't want to!" I blurted out before catching my thoughts.

"What, why?!" She asked concerned.

"N-Nothing!" I stammered out wanting to change the subject from the fire incident. Margaret didn't need to know what happened, but she had to find out at some point, it was only a matter of time before she discovered it. I don't even know what her reaction would be. Would she think I'm ugly? Then again these thoughts raced through my mind like a bullet, causing me to lose focus of my surroundings. I snapped back out of it and was tugged along by Margaret as we made our way into the park. The commotion of loud screams and laughing filled my eardrums as I walked slowly into the decorated park. The park was decorated with colorful lights and different assortments of plants. I couldn't help but to feel like a kid again. Fun rides were scattered along the land of the park. I watched as animatronic dinosaurs roared in there place. Margaret tugged me along towards the map of the park. We then gathered a plan together. Margaret and I would go alone and leave Rigby and Eileen to do whatever, and we'd later meet up here at closing time. After parting ways with the group, a series of questions began to form in my mind.

"So, how long have known, Eileen?" I asked Margaret.

"Well almost four years now, we met each other at a university, and we've been friends ever since." She smiled at the mentioning of her best friend.

"Which ride do you want to ride!" I asked well fiddling with my hoodie to make sure it stayed on properly.

"Why are you wearing a hoodie on when it's really warm out?" she questioned, ignoring me.

"No reason, I'm just really hot, to be honest!" I shot out a little to abruptly. Margaret, thankfully, shrugged her shoulders and kept walking with me.

Eventually we made our way to the first ride.

"The Tea Cups?" I asked her skeptically, reading the sign above it.

"Trust me it's fun!" Margaret laughed as she tugged me onto the ride. We both sat down in what appeared to be a large pink cup.

"Uhhhhh?" I asked her, not knowing exactly what was going on.

"Trust me!" she said as she scooted closer to me. A blush formed upon my face as she got closer. Without thinking, I quickly put my arm around her. Thankfully, she didn't try to shrug it away. The ride had started up with a loud steam release noise. I began to feel the movement of spinning. It wasn't long before I figured out what this ride was doing. I heard Margaret's laughter to my right as the wind in her hair began to blow around. Quickly without realization, I grabbed my hoodie in panic hoping it stayed in place the whole ride. Thank heavens it did not come off. I happily slumped down in the chair. Eventually, the ride came to a stop and we both got off, laughing and giggling.

"What next?!" I asked her in excitement as a wave of adrenaline filled me.

"What about the Silver bullet?" Margaret asked happily.

"Roller-coaster?" I asked in fear.

"What's the matter Mordecai, are you scared?" Margaret teased me.

"What, No!" I yelled dismissively. In truth, I was really worried about my hoodie coming undone. As we made our way towards the roller coaster, I tightened my hoodie and sighed.

"Come on this will be fun!" Margaret cheered happily, "Why are you so down today?!" Margaret asked in a more nonchalant tone. I could tell Margaret was getting inpatient with my sulking mood. I decided I'd try and put on a more positive appearance, for her sake. We both eventually got on the ride together. We were strapped in and ready to go.

"Are you okay? I'm very worried about you." Margaret questioned again as the ride started.

"Look I'm just nervous okay!" I yelled over the loud clanking of the roller coaster, rising to the sky.

"Over the roller coaster?!" Margaret questioned again. She grabbed onto my arm as we neared the peak of the hill. I threw my arm back in pain as her hand squeezed onto the burn. "Okay, what's up?!" she asked, and before I even knew what happened, she lifted the hoodie off my head.

I watched as a tangle of mixed emotions splattered her face. Instantly, I felt the floor give way. I felt as if I was being taken off the earth. My stomach felt weightless in my body, and instantly I plummeted towards the safety of the ground. My thoughts were thrown around in my skull as I was being slingshotted around the cart. My brain was throbbing with emotional pain and physical pain, as the ride came to a complete stop. It's funny how I still didn't even know the ride stopped. My mind was rushing with fury and hatred. I wanted to be left alone. I didn't even want to hear what Margaret had to say About my new look. I got out of the cart without making eye contact, and I ran. I ran as fast as I could away from her. My eyes were buried deep in the palm of my hands. I didn't care where I was going, just as long as it was away from her crude remarks. Instantly, I felt hated. I felt as if every living life form on earth wanted to hurt me. It really is a troublesome feeling. I quickly slumped down by a fake plastic tree, hoping I ran far from her, far from anybody for that matter. I sat and sulked in my arms for what seemed like hours. I opened my eyes to see a running red robin coming straight at me. She came towards me well panting.

"What do you want?" I said as I buried my face into my blackened navy blue arms. It only reminded me of who I once was. It's as if this new color was faltering with my mind. It made me behave differently, as if I was someone I am not. Margaret caught her breath and managed one word from her delicate beak.

"Why?" she asked in an annoyed tone.

"Why what?" I asked her back.

"Why'd you run away from me like that?" she asked. Her anger subsided as she saw the state I was in. Her emotions diligently changed into concern.

"I was scared." I began between sobs, "Of what you would think of me." I added in pain. I truly didn't feel like uttering another word. But it was Margaret who drifted me from that thought.

"Think of you?" She questioned. It was at this point I shot up from my sulking position. I stood up before her gaze.

"Look at me!" I yelled angrily, "Look at what I am!" I added clenching my teeth. I wanted to bash a wall in right now at how angry I was. "I'm a freak!" I yelled defeatedly.

"No your not, Mordecai!" Margaret calmly replied, "Don't say that." she grabbed me by the shoulders. Instantly a wave of pain shot through me. My shoulders went numb as my body gave in. I collapsed onto the ground in a heap of pain.

"I'm burnt you..." I stopped myself before I could call her anything. Margaret backed away in fright by my sudden outburst. "I'm sorry... I'm just in a lot of pain!" I panted heavily.

"Mordecai, I will always love you, no matter what happens to your appearance." Margaret began, "I fell in love with your soul not your appearance." Margaret then proceeded to wipe a tear from her face. I felt absolutely horrible now for running away. That's how you fix problems though right? You run away from your problems don't you? "The appearance is just a bonus for me!" she winked at we as she slowly grabbed my hand. I tilted my gaze towards the floor, realizing the truth. "It's your personality that I fell in love with, is what I'm trying to say!" She stated, " I couldn't care less if your feathers were all gone." she smiled. "Do you feel better now?" She asked me. I slowly lifted my chin up to meat her gaze.

"Yeah." I silently replied. She then proceeded to awkwardly hug me, careful not to touch my body.

"Now come on we got more rides to ride!" She happily tugged my hand along. "Would it be wrong to say I like the new dark look?" Margaret laughed at me, and for the first time today, I actually laughed with her.

"No, not at all!"

Okay done. Did you like the new Character selection? I might add more couples to this story, so stay tuned. This chapter took forever. I wanted this chapter to be humorous but have a message at the end. I think I did a really good job. Leave a review and tell me how you think I did?! Please!
