50 Years Later

Heather shuffles out of the boat with her wooden cane. She grabs the red marker that is hooked to the calendar on the wall. She puts a red x on today's date just like she did every day since she left Alejandro on the island.

"Tonight's the night." Heather says to herself feeling excited and nervous at the same time. For the first time in ages she had something to look forward to. All of the other members of the Total Drama Cast already got some form of happy ending. Duncan turned his life around and eventually married Beth. They had a beautiful daughter. When she got older and met a guy she liked, Duncan acted tough and overprotective to his soon to be son in law. He didn't fool anyone when he cried while walking his daughter down the aisle and even more so when his grandson was born. Scott and Courtney got married and had a son who grew up to be a lawyer. Lindsay and Tyler got married and had twins which neither of them could tell apart. Gwen and Trent got married and went all around the world together after Trent became a rich famous musician. After breaking her restraining order, Sierra had six children and four grandchildren with Cody. Izzy and Owen got married and opened up their very own restaurant together. Owen died of a heart attack at the age of 62 due to his unhealthy lifestyle. She's been dating Noah three years later. Harold and Lashawna got married and had two kids. They got divorced for three years, but got back together. Lightning and Jo got married and built a gym. They were often visited by Brick and his wife Eva. Jo died in a fatal car accident at the age of 47. Geoff and Bridgett became the new hosts for a game show. Mike and Zoey got married and they named their children after his personalities (except for Mal). Justin continued modeling after Anne Marie and Camren invented an expensive anti-ageing cream. Sam made a new world record for how long a person could stay alive in Pacman. His wife, Dakota got a job at the circus. Chris, Blainley, and Chef made their own tv show about competitive cooking. Katie and Sadie lived in the same nursing home and stayed inseparable. DJ helped Dawn with her animal rights movement. Ezikeil starred in a zombie movie. Stacy and B ended up getting married because he was the only person who could listen to her. B, Stacy, and Camren even built a time machine together.

Everyone was happy, but not Heather. Heather spent fifty years without starting a family. She longed for the bright future the others had. That was a sacrifice she was willing to take for the person who saved her life. But that's all about to change today because Dawn will raise the blue harvest moon again tonight. Heather is glad that she will finally see Alejandro again, but she wished she was still as young and beautiful as she was when he last saw her. Her raven black hair has turned grey and her face has more wrinkles, but she figures that it isn't as bad as being a zombie. She stares at the sky eagerly. Sunset. In just a few more hours she would finally be able to turn him back.

"Are you sure you can hold the moon up this time?" Heather asks Dawn who is standing beside her.

"Yes. The only reason why the spell couldn't hold up last time was because I had to resurrect Alejandro, show him the past, and raise the moon all in one week." Dawn says.

"You better not mess this up." Heather grumbles.

"Are you sure you want to go out there by yourself?" Dawn asks.

"Don't worry about me." Heather says walking across the doc with her cane firmly in her hand. Her stiff joints have a hard time moving her saggy body through the beach. She isn't about to let a little sand get in her way. Heather hears a frantic squawk of a bird from afar. Her instinct tells her to follow it. Under a canapé of tree branches Alejandra is sitting hunched over on the ground with a dead vulture hanging out of his mouth. He shakes his head trying to break its neck. Drool and blood drips down his long straggly white beard. Heather gets hi attention. He doesn't seem to recognize her. His wounds have been infected. He smells like death. He still has Beth's friendship bracelet around his wrist. Heather tries to approach him. He backs away dragging his mangled legs behind him. He growls at Heather.

"Don't you growl at me." Heather says. Alejandro rakes his dirty fingernails down her leg. She whacks him over the head with the cane. She plugs her nose and kisses him on the cheek nearly gagging.

Some old lady with some serious personal space issues is standing over me holding a cane over her head. My head throbs. There's no way I'm letting her hit me again that's for sure. I spit out the bird that's hanging out of my mouth. Did I just eat that thing? I cough up a mouthful of feathers. The old woman laughs at me. I back away further and give her a puzzled look.

"It's me you idiot." The old woman says poking me with her cane. I move her white hair out of her face.

"Heather?" I tried to say. My voice has gone completely. I got so excited that I nearly knocked her off her feet. I didn't think she was ever coming back. Heather is so loyal to me. I can't remember a thing about being a zombie. I didn't even realize that over three quarters of my life is over.

"I missed you too." Heather says smiling at me.

Dawn takes me off the island and takes me to a hospital. My legs have to be amputated. I got to meet my nephew who always calls me Uncle Al. I just wish I was able to get down on one knee to propose or even ask her if she'd marry me. Instead I just gave her a ring and let her put two and two together. I never got to walk or speak again, but at least I got to stay with Heather for the last years of her life. As she got older she was too sick to do anything and eventually she died. Then life got boring. Nobody tormented me or put hot sauce in my cereal or painted my toenail pink or soaked my false teeth in lemon juice. One day I'll see her again when Dawn thinks my time here is up.
