Fifteen-year-old Hinata Hyuga was having a rather pleasant dream the morning that the strangest thing in the Konohagakure happened. She dreaming of her long-time crush Naruto Uzumaki. He had been whisked away on a mission to rescue the Fifth Kazekage, Gaara, almost as soon as he had gotten back to the village, so she hadn't gotten to see him yet.

In her dream, she and Naruto were resting on a park bench in Senju Park, one of Naruto's arms was wrapped around Hinata's shoulder. It was a beautiful day in the dream, nice and warm, and peaceful. It was just the two of them, out on a nice, relaxing date.

However, it was suddenly interrupted by a tapping and tugging at Hinata's face, and then something shaking her shoulder. Hinata simply groaned and sleepily brushed it off as she shifted in her sleep. Whatever was deciding to interrupt her sleep decided to try again, but this time, by pinching her nose and rubbing its head against hers in an attempt to wake her up.

"Mommy...? Mommy, waaake uuuppp," An urgent voice called to her through her sleepy haze. Hinata slightly wondered if her dream had changed and that she was now dreaming about her and Naruto's future children. However...it seemed too...real. And physical. "Come on, Mommy!"

The voice sounded like that of a four-year-old boy, a bit impatient, but adorable all the same. Hinata turned her face towards the sound of the voice, slowly opening her eyes as she woke up. And what sat before her...nearly made Hinata gasp...as well as nearly faint, of course.

It was a four or five-year-old boy wearing a pink t-shirt and black shorts. He had spiky blonde hair, large blue eyes, and two whisker marks on either cheek. He looked like a tiny version of Naruto, but it was the face, the hair style and the boy's small hands that made it clear that he wasn't just a mini-clone of Naruto. The hair was more flat, and the face and hands...they were...

...they were Hyuga hands and a face-shape the same as Hinata's. Even the nose seemed like someone had taken Hinata's nose and stuck it on a Namikaze child. This child...he looked like a composition of Naruto and Hinata...as if...as if...

...as if he was Naruto and Hinata's son!

"Oh, yay! You're awake, Mommy," The little boy cheered, bending down and giving Hinata a hug with his small, chubby arms. "I thought it'd take forever, dattebase."

"What...?" That was the third time the child had called her "Mommy" and he had used a verbal tic so similar to Naruto's "dattebayo." There was no doubt...but just how was it possible...? Hinata didn't remember having children with Naruto in the last few years. Just the thought of having children with Naruto...and the process of making said child...almost made her faint.

"Mommy, is something the matter," The child asked as Hinata sat up, seeing the confused expression on the Konoha kunoichi's face. "You okay? Why is your face turning red?"

Was her face reddening? She could feel warmth in her face as if blood was rushing to her head.

"I...uh...you...you look like...like Naruto..." Hinata managed to get out, not sure what to say. "How are you...? How did you...? I'm sorry...I don't understand..."

"What do you not understand, Mommy," The child asked, tilting his head to the side, looking at Hinata curiously. "Hmm...something's different. You seem...shorter...and your hair's all long!"

"Huh? Oh..." Hinata ran her hand through her long, midnight blue hair. She had had it short for most of her life, and it was just recently that she had decided to let it grow out. But if the child had said she seemed shorter...and her hair was longer...then...did that mean...?

This child had to be from the future. There was no other explanation. But how was it possible?

"Mommy? You okay?"

Hinata smiled at the little boy, lifting him up into her lap and messing with his blonde hair a little and then tickling his stomach playfully, making the boy laugh. He had Naruto's laugh, with the tiniest hint of her own. This boy...he was proof...proof that Hinata's efforts weren't for nothing.

"I'm fine, little one," Hinata told him. "Just...a bit overwhelmed."

"Why? What does that mean," He asked her, his brow furrowing just a little.

"Well, that means that I'm...I'm just not sure what to think about all this," The former Hyuga Clan heiress replied. "I think...I think you might be from the future, because I...I don't have any children yet...nor...nor am I...pregnant...yet. Does that...make any sense...?"

"No, not really, 'ttebasa," The boy admitted, shaking his head.

"I see, well, it means that...hmm, how do I explain this," Hinata wondered aloud, pausing to think hard on just how she would explain to her future son. "It's that...I don't know you yet, but I'll get to soon, whenever that may be..."

"Oh, that makes sense, Mommy," The boy said. "Well, I'm Boruto...Boruto Uzumaki, dattebasa!"

And with that, Hinata Hyuga blacked out, the simple confirmation of the boy's last name too much for the young Hyuga to bear. Boruto, meanwhile, cried out in alarm and started shaking his mother's shoulder urgently, trying to get her to wake back up. He had never seen Hinata faint before...so this was kind of scary to him.

"Uh...I'll go get help, Mommy," Boruto decided after a little while, getting up and quickly running out of the room. His father, Naruto Uzumaki, was nowhere to be seen...and this didn't seem like the Uzumaki house, so he guessed that he wasn't going to find his father anywhere nearby.

Boruto ran quickly through the halls of the Hyuga Compound until he found two Hyugas sparing in the training area. One looked like his Aunt Hanabi, but way smaller...and a young man who Boruto didn't recognize at the moment. He had a Konoha headband on around his forehead, which struck Boruto a little odd, as he didn't know any Hyugas who did that. Except for Ko.

But...it wasn't Ko, and Boruto could tell. Ko, or "Uncle Ko," as Boruto sometimes called him, had short, spiky black hair, and this guy had long, brown hair almost reaching his waist. Also, while Ko usually wore dark clothing, this person was wearing all white.

"Aunt Hanabi! Aunt Hanabi! Come quick, something's wrong with Mommy," Boruto cried out, racing towards his aunt at top speed. The whole "coming from the future" thing hadn't yet sunk in, so Boruto didn't quite know to not approach anyone suddenly like this. "Aunt Hanabi!"

"Huh, what in the world...?" The ten-year-old Hyuga Clan heiress narrowly dodged a Gentle Fist strike from her opponent as she turned to face the four-year-old charging towards her. "What!?"

"Wait, isn't that...?" The brown-haired shinobi looked at Boruto, perplexed at what he saw. "No, that's impossible... Don't tell me one of Naruto's Shadow Clones is running around as a little kid."

"That doesn't really make sense," Hanabi Hyuga, younger sister to Hinata Hyuga, pointed out to her cousin, sixteen-year-old Neji Hyuga. Hanabi bent down before Boruto and smiled kindly. "Hey, little one, are you lost? And...why were you calling me Aunt Hanabi?"

"Because you're Aunt Hanabi," Boruto answered, as if it were common sense. "Why else?"

"Hmm, he acts like Naruto, too..." Neji thought aloud, then activated his Byakugan and looked at the kid's chakra network. Definitely that of a young child, however, his chakra wasn't just all blue. There were patches of gold, purple and red here-and-there, as if his chakra wasn't entirely human, but also reminiscent of Naruto's, as well as Hinata's. But there was something about the boy's right eye that he couldn't figure out...it seemed to be pulsing with chakra. "What the...?"

"What is it, Neji," Hanabi asked, turning towards her cousin.

"The boy's chakra...it seems a lot like Naruto and Hinata's," Neji replied. "But there's something about it...something about it that seems almost...divine. I don't know how else to explain it."

"What chakra," Boruto asked, a little confused. "I have alotta chakra. Some from Super Great-Grandpa Hagoromo... Super Great-Grandpa Hamura... And even Kurama, too!"

"Hagoromo? Hamura? Kurama? Who are they," Hanabi asked Boruto curiously. The name Hamura sounded familiar for some reason, but the other two names, she wasn't quite sure.

"They're...they're...uh...can't really remember," Boruto admitted with a shrug. Then, he turned to face Neji and smiled brightly. "Hi, I'm Boruto Uzumaki! Who are you, dattebasa?"

Definitely like Naruto, Neji thought as he stifled a small chuckle. But why does he look like a miniature version of him...? But his face and hands...too much like a Hyuga to be a coincidence. And that eye...the chakra coil was like the Byakugan...but seemed much more powerful. What is going on here? "Pleased to meet you, Boruto Uzumaki, I am Neji Hyuga."

"Neji? Wait, like Uncle Neji," Boruto gasped excitedly. "But I thought you lived really far away! Mommy's never taken us to visit you before, but I've heard a lot about you!"

Something about that revelation from little Boruto told Neji something. One, Boruto was somehow from the future...and the son of Naruto and Hinata. And two, Neji was probably dead in this future. "Really far away" could imply "not in the village," which made no sense if Neji was alive in the future, he would live in Konoha as he was a Konoha-nin and a Konoha citizen.

"I see," Neji said, feeling his chest tighten a little at the thought. Then, he turned to Hanabi. "I think what's going on is that Boruto is Naruto and Hinata's child...but somehow from the future."

"That'd make sense," Hanabi agreed. "But how? I thought time travel only happened in stories!"

"As did I, untilknow," Neji stated. "However, think about it, Hanabi. If there are jutsus that can revive the dead...wouldn't jutsus that could send people through time also make sense?"

"I guess..." Hanabi picked up her future nephew in her arms and stood up. "So, just how did you get here, Boruto?"

"I don't know," Boruto said, then his eyes widened as if he remembered why he had been trying to find his aunt and uncle in the first place. "But we need to be quick! Mommy needs help!"

"What do you mean, what happened," Neji inquired, concern creeping into his voice. He had never been that fond of his cousin, but was now beginning to respect her a little more.

"She passed our for some reason," Boruto cried out. "Come on, we need to help her!"

"Oh, she'll be fine," Hanabi said, giggling. "Hinata just does that...especially when it has to do with Naruto..."

"What do you mean," Boruto asked, getting rather confused. "Why would Daddy make her faint?"

"It's a little complicated, Boruto," Neji replied. "But, in the time we are in currently, your parents aren't together yet. So, Hinata tends to faint around Naruto...it's weird, I know."

"Really? Well, we gotta fix that," Boruto declared. Hanabi and Neji both sighed. If they knew anything about Naruto from either listening to Hinata or from personal experience...it was that Naruto could be rather rambunctious, hyperactive...and once he put his mind to something, there was no stopping him. It only made sense that his son would be pretty much the same.

The only question was...just how did little Boruto get here?

Hanabi, Neji and Boruto quickly made their way back to Hinata's room, careful not to let Boruto be seen by any Hyuga Clan members that might start asking a million questions. When they got there, they found that Hinata was awake again and fully dressed in her shinobi attire.

"Elder Sister, you awake again, yet," Hanabi asked, knocking on her elder sister's door.

"Yes, Hanabi, I'll be a moment," Hinata called back from inside as she strapped on her shuriken holster around her lower right thigh and attached her ninja tool pouch just behind her left hip. Then, she walked to the door and opened it to see her sister, her cousin...and Boruto.

"Yay, Mommy's okay," Boruto cried happily, reaching out for Hinata, wanting her to hold him.

"Oh, so it wasn't a dream," Hinata realized as she happily took Boruto from Hanabi's arms. She held him above her left hip, and Boruto wrapped his arms around his mother. "Wow...I..."

"He's something, alright," Hanabi said, giggling. "So, now are you finally going to tell him?"

"Hanabi, now might not be the best time while she's holding Boruto," Neji pointed out.

"Oh, come on, Neji," Hanabi protested, rolling her eyes at him. "Why can't I tease Elder Sister?"

"It's...it's fine, Hanabi," Hinata assured her younger sister. "But, yes, I should go tell him."

"Yay, let's go find Daddy, dattebasa," Boruto cheered, punching the air. Then, he lowered his fist as he remembered something else. "Oh, where's Himawari? Do you think she's with Daddy?"

"Who's Himawari, Boruto," Hinata asked Boruto.

"She's my cute little sis'," Boruto replied, giggling happily, and Hinata smiled lightly. So Naruto and Hinata had two children in the future, a son and a daughter. How wonderful.

"Well, let's go find them, Boruto..." Hinata then turned to Neji and Hanabi. "Oh, if Father asks, please tell him I have to take care of something really important for my team, okay?"

"Sure, of course, Elder Sister," Hanabi said.

"Don't worry, your secret's safe with us," Neji added. "And good luck, Lady Hinata."

"Thank you," Hinata said as she started to walk away. "Alright, Boruto, let's go..."

"Yay, we're gonna go find Daddy and Lil' Sis'!"

Little did they know, Hiashi Hyuga had been observing the scene from down the hall, having just come this way after waking up and getting dressed. He smiled as he watched his daughter and future grandson go, headed off to find his future son-in-law and future granddaughter.

So you'll finally get Naruto, huh, Hinata, Hiashi thought as he turned and walked back up the hall. I wonder if you'll become stronger than I've always hoped as well? Hitomi would be proud...
