Chapter 11: Secrets Of The Past Part 1
Leina woke up the next morning to see that she had fallen asleep in her clothes and someone had tucked her in nicely. She smiled at the thought of Laxus doing something like that, but quickly dropped the thought as she figured that he was not that type of person. Even his looks said enough about what type of person he was, which was not the type that she just thought of. She quickly dropped her wondering thoughts and jumped in the shower. Once she was clean, she headed up to the deck to see that the old man took a rest stop at a nearby island.
From where the boat was, she could tell that it was a very lively island, if the girls in dancing outfits said enough. She shook her head in exhaustion as she could only imagine what kind of trouble the old man could get into here. Leina quickly hopped off the boat and began to search for the two missing men before they managed to get themselves in some trouble. It seemed as though the island would be having a big celebration by how many decorations and entertainers she saw walking the streets. Not too far from where she stood in the busy streets, there stood Laxus and Wilson at a fruit stand.
"I was wondering where you two ran off to." Leina said with a smile as she snuck up behind Laxus. He jumped slightly before replying to her with a scowl on his face.
"He kept whining about getting some fruit so I came out with him, plus he was a bit jumpy once he spotted all of these women in their costumes." Laxus said as he regained his composure and whispered the last part in her ear.
"You want how much for these things?!" Wilson asked in astonishment.
"Unfortunately, these fruit are a lot different than the ones you had bought before. Even though they look the same, there is a big difference between the two." The man said with an apologetic frown.
"That's just downright…" Wilson said but Leina interrupted him by tapping him on the head.
"Don't you dare act a fool about the price of fruit when on a regular day you charge twice as much as you should to take people places. At least you know that these fruit are worth what he's asking, the crummy service you give for those prices aren't even worth it." Leina said flatly. Wilson huffed and puffed as he gave the man the money for the fruit and walked off.
"That was a little harsh wasn't it?" Laxus asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Nope, he's always been a pain in the butt when it comes up to his money. He is very frugal, but to the point where it is just ridiculous. Even the cheapest prices are too much for him and he has more than enough money to pay for it too." Leina said with a sigh and a shake of her head.
"That old man really is something else." Laxus said as Wilson continued to march along.
"He sure is, but he knows better than to act up when I'm around." Leina said as she began to follow Wilson.
~Later That Day~
"Go straight to your room. I can't believe you still think doing things like that is funny." Leina said with a scowl as Wilson walked by to go below deck.
"Although, what he did was pretty funny when you think about it." Laxus asked with a grin.
"You know, you don't make any of this any better." Leina said flatly, as she gave him her best glare.
Laxus chuckled as he threw his hands up in mock defense, grabbed the groceries, and took them to the kitchen.
"Someone come save me before I kill both of these men." Leina said as she rubbed her aching temples and went to her room.
"Take a break for today, I'll cook the food." Laxus said as he leaned on her doorframe.
"Huh?! You're gonna make dinner?" Leina asked in disbelief.
"I might be a man but I can cook." Laxus said with a frown.
"When you get a wife she'll be happy to hear those words." Leina said as she gave a small chuckle.
"I don't know about that, I'm not much of a family man." Laxus said as he stood up and walked back to the kitchen. Leina turned her head to the side in curiosity and followed him.
"Why not?" Leina asked as she sat on the bar stood in front of him.
"I don't know, every time I think about me being with a woman and us having kids it makes me feel weird. It's almost as if I can't see myself as having those things, and it doesn't really bother me if I don't." Laxus said as he cut up a few vegetables and placed them in a pot.
"You're not the only one." Leina said with a nervous laugh. Laxus turned around to say something back to her but he stopped once he saw that her head was down.
"That's something I can never believe. A girl that is as lively as you are, not to mention with your personality, can never say that she can see herself being alone. Actually, there is not a real man in this world that would be stupid enough to turn you down." Laxus said as he held her head up by his finger.
"I could say the same thing about you too." Leina said with a giggle.
"Not, as quickly as everyone can say that about you though. I have had my good times and bad times, we all have, but even with my change of attitude, I still feel as if something is wrong. I'll figure it out sooner or later, so I don't dwell on it too much." Laxus said as he finished preparing everything and he began to put it all together.
"Yeah, you're right." Leina said as she quietly stood up from the chair and walked back to her room. "But, then again you're wrong too." Leina thought as she stopped in front of her door and took a glance down the hall at Peony's room.
What could she mean? What is hiding in her past that relates to Wilson's daughter? You will get a good taste of it on the next chapter, until then, see ya later!
