Hey!

Sorry it took so long.

Am I the only person who can't believe it's already 2015?!

Pretty insane, isn't it?

*So let us all celebrate for more than one reason- Percy's humanity is nearing. It's very close now. And when I say very close I mean like, by next chapter. Writing Percy Jackson as an emotionless jerk is way harder than you think.

*I would like to respond to one review which was posted to one of my earlier chapters- but I still feel like some others would be asking themselves why Chaos doesn't tell the fates to shove it. It's much simpler than you think. Say Obama decided one day that he felt like going ahead and raping a few people, just because he's the American president, and can supposedly do what ever the hell he wants. News flash for those out there who were innocent up until this AN: He can't. A person like Obama (or in our case, Chaos) is supposed to set an example for others. If he decides to do whatever he wants, and screw the law- that's basically telling all of his subjects that none are needed.

*On a completely unrelated subject: You lot are really not helping me ponder things... POLLS ON MY PROFILE! (And if you're a guest- reviews are very much welcome:)

Enjoy the chapter:)

Chapter 11

-London, 1491-

"Elijah, why is death so feared when living death is a blessing?"

It was a stormy night, mid-winter, and Elijah was making sure Percy truly went to sleep, unlike the previous nights on which he and Kol did as their hearts desired all night long.

"Vampirism is no gift, Perseus. I do wish you would see this, and stop listening to my brothers." Elijah had spent 6 months trying to sway the boy away from his obsession with immortality, but it was pointless, for so like his brother- Percy desired power, and eternity at his hand. He hated being told what to do; therefor the more Elijah tried to talk him out of it- the more he was sure he was ready to be immortal.

"But why don't you see it, Eli? You can do whatever you want! You can protect the people you care about, and you can be yourself without being hurt. You have forever to live, and you don't even have to feel pain or anything at all! You can be free of hate, and anger, and loneliness, and pain, and betrayal, and…" There was a longing look in the child's eyes as he spoke of this, so Elijah grabbed him by the shoulders, leaned forward, and shook Percy a bit.

"Perseus- none of that is a gift. If I ever were to make you immortal, I would have you swear to me that you would never let go of your humanity. Yes, you would not feel pain, or anger, or loneliness, or betrayal- but the people who love you would feel those things because of you, my s…" He'd nearly slipped up, and called him a son. It was a truth. When he'd been human, before his love for Tatia, Elijah had been married, and was nearly a father, but had lost his beloved wife and unborn child to a fire set on their home. Elijah had longed for a son all his long years, and then Percy showed up, and he felt as if he suddenly knew what being a parent was like.

"Please don't think I'm your son." Percy whimpered. "I don't want to be the reason you're a bad person."

Elijah frowned. "What do you mean?"

"All fathers are bad, and I like you because you aren't bad." Percy explained, pulling the heavy blanket up to his neck, shivering slightly in the cold.

"Why do you say that?"

"Well my birth father abandoned me, and my father was very unkind to us all. My friend, Anna, told me that her father left her mother when her father disowned her from their family- including many riches. And you and Kol and Rebekah always tell me that your father was no good, and Nik will never speak of him." Percy's eyes were wide, sadness shining in them. "And it makes me wonder if being a father makes you no good. I don't want you to be like them, Eli."

Elijah rose from his chair, and sat on the edge of the bed. "Perseus- being a father doesn't make one bad. Never consider for a moment that you… We- are at fault for having uncaring fathers. They were as we knew them long before we were brought into the world. There are more fortunate people all around the world who have the good fortune to be loved by both their parents. And if you'd allow it to me- I would happily give you that experience. You are so like a son to me, Percy. You don't know how good it feels."

Percy smiled uncertainly at him. "Well in that case I'd like it a lot if you were my father. You're much nicer than my other ones."

Elijah laughed, and kissed the top Of Percy's head. "Get some sleep, my boy. You know how Niklaus feels about tardiness when it comes to hunting." The boy gave a laugh, and closed his eyes, falling nearly instantly into a deep sleep.

Hours later, Percy woke up- the storm still raging outside, the room darker than it had been before. The young boy threw his feet out of bed, and tiptoed into the hall. There was something outside.

"Elijah?" He called into the dark corridor. "Rebekah? Nik and Kol if that's you I swear I'll kill you." Percy sensed a presence behind him- one he was unfamiliar with.

Slowly, the young boy turned around to face the person. It was a man- in his later 40s, perhaps early 50s, with shoulder length light hair, and Kol's eyes.

"Who are you?" Percy asked, but he had a feeling that he knew just who he was facing.

"Who I am is not important. I'll assume that you are Perseus, correct? Your family has grown quite anxious about your presence in a home of vampires. I've been asked to retrieve you, so you'll forgive me that this may hurt a small bit."

Percy had not the time to register what happened before his world was consumed by the darkness.

-Atlanta, 1899-

"Do you have it?"

Nadia hadn't been back for long. She'd gone to Mystic Falls some days ago to retrieve the moonstone from the Lockwood's. She found it within 2 days, and had then found it near impossible to leave without killing anyone- so naturally 2 or 3 bodies littered the ground.

Nadia threw the stone on the table.

"Still doubting me, I see."

Cassandra laughed. "I ceased to doubt you years ago, dearest. Has Klaus returned word to you?"

"No. Last I saw, they were trying to find a way around this deal. Rebekah has demanded that I be killed, Klaus agrees with her, but On a slightly more brutal level, and Elijah is trying to maintain peace as they bicker. Not much as changed. Of course- this was 6 months ago, but knowing that family it takes longer than that for things to change."

"True. But one can never be to safe. We need to relocate again."

Nadia sighed. "Is there no other way to do this? We have not had rest for 6 years, and we shan't have it until Klaus is dead. Perhaps my mother was right, Cassie. She attempted to find a way to survive. She would have had you not had her killed." The younger of the two could not hide her bitterness from her aunt.

"Nadia, I thought you knew I Did what was best. We've spoken of this matter many times before. You said you understood my decision."

"Well I lied." Nadia snapped angrily. "She was my mother- your sister. And you sent her to her death without a second thought. I cannot accept that the woman who has been the nearest to a mother that I ever had killed the one person I cared for most with no remorse like the m..."

"Nadia!" Cassandra shouted over her nieces rant. "Control your emotions, child. They are a weakness."

"What happened to embracing emotion? To them helping keep the monster at bay? What happened to that Cassandra? The woman who taught me how to keep myself I under control- and help people in stead of harming them? I'm sorry, lelka. I cannot help you any longer."

"Nadia, listen to me..." Cassandra's attempt at negotiations was cut short when her neck was broken. Nadia stared up in shock at her aunts attacker.

"Nadia, is it?" It was a short, innocent, doll like girl- barely 16, with beautiful dark hair, and sharp eyes. "I'm Annabelle. I do hope that this meeting will be pleasurable on both our parts."

-LINE BREAK-

-Rome-

"How did you get so good at this?"

Lexi was laying on the grass beside Stefan- whom she'd grown very close to- staring up at the clouds, wondering how Anna and Katherine had been since she'd taken whet leave.

"I suppose a student is only as good as their teacher before them." She said sadly. Her heartache was never Ending. It only grew more painful every day- knowing that she loved a man who could no longer love her back.

"He does love you, you know." Stefan said, sitting up. "Percy. Humanity or not, if he let go of the love you shared, he's an idiot. You deserve better Than this, Lexi. And I hope that you do find happiness- even if its with someone other than him."

Lexi sat up, laying her head on her best friends shoulder. "How can I love anyone else? He was... Percy is the only man I've ever loved- and to consider loving someone else... It makes me feel like I'm betraying him, Stefan. I can't live without him, but I can never be with him. How is this fair?"

"It isn't." He whispered back. "I loved Katherine just as much, Lexi. And she's dead. Don't waste the time you have with him. He may drop dead any day."

"Stef..." She wondered whether she ought to tell him. It could do no harm. After all- the whole goal of Katerina's plan had been for Klaus to believe her dead- but he knew she lived now anyways, so it couldn't hurt. "Katherine's not dead."

"Not dead? Lexi, what are you talking about?"

"She wasn't in the fire. There was a tomb under Fell's Church spelled by Emily Bennett. And some weird witchy magic thing that locked the tomb, and something happened... I really don't know the details... Basically- she is alive. I've seen her."

"She's alive? You're serious?" A new hope kindled in his eyes.

"I am." Lexi said with a small nod.

Stefan hugged her tightly. "You don't know how happy I am to know this- but for my brother. Not for me." Lexi's smile faltered a bit. "I never really loved her. She compelled me to be in love with her. With Damon... There was something genuine. He loves her for real." There was no bitterness in his tone as he stood up. "Thank you, Alexia Branson, for helping me so goddamned much. I can never repay you."

Lexi stood and hugged him. "Just promise me... when you find her- don't let her use you like she once did. Friends we may have been but she's still the biggest bitch in existence."

Stefan laughed, putting his coat on, preparing to leave. "I promise. Again- thank you."

"Just remember, Stephanie:" Stefan rolled his eyes at her. "If I hear anything about another stupid blood bender... I'll find you even if you're on the moon."

"Never gonna forget it."

"Best friends?"

"Always and forever, Lexi. I promise."

-LINE BREAK-

-Atlanta-

"Who are you?" Nadia asked.

"I thought we'd already passed the introductions. I'm Annabelle. And you are no doubt Kathy's kid, and I'm not senile, so I still remember Cassie. It's kinda hard to forget her." Anna was keeping her cool, yet there was an impatience about her when she spoke to Nadia. "I want to know what interest you have in Perseus and Katerina."

Nadia frowned. "My mother is dead. Cassandra was sure of that. As for Perseus- she hopes for his death by Klaus' hand any day now."

Anna's sweet features twisted into a scowl. "What do you mean she was sure of it? What was her involvement in the massacre?"

"She's the one who told the council. She told them everything, and promised the Lockwood's a high price for my mothers death. Perseus was supposed to die along with her, but he was traveling when the time came."

"And the other vampires?" Anna asked dangerously. "Was killing them her as well?"

"No. She only wanted her siblings dead. My mother wanted to hide from Klaus, and the massacre was her plan." Anna was clearly unhappy with this information, but whatever her concerns- she kept them to herself.

"What do you want with the moonstone? I wasn't very pleased to find my lovely little friends dead in Mystic Falls."

"Cassandra made a deal with Klaus. She said if they killed Perseus she would give him the moonstone."

Anna nodded appreciatively. "Well points for cunning. That was a brilliant move on her part. But seeing as you two are here, and Percy is still ripping through the locals of Louisiana, I'll assume Klaus cares about him more than you thought."

Nadia agreed.

"I can no longer side with her, I fear. She accuses Klaus of monstrosity because he daggers his siblings, and she is killing her own."

"Yeah, well get yourself a new moral compass. You two on the same side is exactly what I need. How do you feel about helping me restore your uncle's humanity?"

Nadia sucked in breath.

"It is a futile attempt, Pearl's child." Cassandra had woken up, and was massaging her neck. "I'll admit, I'm a bit offended you attacked immediately, Annabelle. We could have struck a deal without violence."

Anna snorted. "Don't go all saint on me, Cassie. You and I never saw eye to eye."

"I think it had something to do with the height difference..." Cassie said Waspishly, and Anna huffed indignantly.

"Ignoring you, bitch." Anna snapped. "It just so happens, that Percy is far closer to humanity than you may think. He's lonely. He's lost everyone he ever cared about one way or another- and the closest he has to family is trying to change him. He needs someone who will love him unconditionally. Kathy dying is the reason he hit the switch. If one sister flicked it off- the second one, who comes with a wagon load of guilt, will have it flicked right back on."

"And what if it doesn't?" Cassandra asked, before disappearing into the night.

-TIME SKIP-

-Mystic Falls, December 19th, 1902-

"Cassandra, please."

"I've stayed my hand long enough." Cassandra had indeed Kept herself a fair distance from her brother for 3 years, but she had Lost her patience when word spread that 4 girls- all 16- had been found dead near the Mikaelson mansion in New Orleans. "I was fooling myself. Perseus was fully himself when he murdered myself and my daughter. I let myself have hope where there was none to be found in the first place."

"Lelka, he is better." Nadia pleaded. Despite their disagreement- without her mothers sister, she was nothing. She had no one but her, Cassandra- who'd taken care of her for over 400 years now. They could disagree for all she cared- as long as they were never parted. "Just let him see you. Talk to him. Show him you live! It will stir feelings of guilt even in the most heartless man!"

"And if it doesn't?" Cassandra repeated her old inquiry with a fragility that Nadia had never seen in her before. She seemed very insecure, and full of pain. "I know I was never as close to him as Katerina. I know I abandoned them to fend for themselves in the mad place we grew up in. And even when Katerina expressed her worries for him- I did nothing. But he was... He is my little brother, and I do love him dearly. And though he may have let Katerina's death take such a great toll on him- my survival may mean nothing to him. And I would not be able to bare the knowledge that I meant so little to him."

"But you meant the world to him! Do you not realize it? Annabelle had a plan, if you would just listen!"

"Do not mention that girl." Cassandra snapped. "I always sensed she had only her best interests at heart, and she did not prove me wrong. She simply wants revenge for her mother's sake."

"You are making absolutely no sense, Cassandra!" Nadia yelled in frustration. "You are trying to find a connection between unrelated things when all sense is laid before you on a silver platter. Perseus is all there is left of your family. Our family. Without him there is nothing left. If you do not believe in redemption- believe in the never ending love you shared as brother and sister."

Cassandra sighed. "There really is no winning with you, is there?"

Nadia only smiled.

-New Orleans, New years eve, 1903-

"You are lying." Percy hissed furiously. He could sense the emotions trying to resurface, fighting against the wall he'd set up against them- but he would not let them in. Humanity was pointless. "My sister is dead, Elijah. Both of them, in fact. One was a stupid slut, and her boyfriends got her killed. The other... she was sweet on the lips, I'll give her that."

Elijah was looking straight at his face, and just for a moment he was sure he saw a small bit of guilt right there.

"Perseus, I've... We've seen your sister many times over the course of the last 4 decades. She is quite well- other than the fact that she's worried out of her mind about you, and is hoping beyond anything that you will let someone into your life."

Percy laughed. "This has to be the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. Even after her death you pine after Katerina like a lost puppy. Have you been hallucinating her? Dreaming of her beneath you when she was an innocent human, whispering sweet nothings to you throughout the night? I know who my sister was, Elijah. And she never loved you."

Elijah felt a bubbling anger and resentment beneath his skin, and his remark was at the tip of his tongue, when they were interrupted.

"If emotions are so pointless to you, baby brother, why bother with them at all?" Percy's skin went white, and Elijah looked at the woman before him. She was quite beautiful, with pale skin, and hair as black as a ravens soft feathers. Bright blue eyes blinked at him from elegant features. She looked like another version Of Katerina.

"You were dead. I killed you myself." Percy said, his eyes wide as dinner plates.

"Indeed. I can still feel the prickling of all the blood being drained from my body. And the lifeless bodies of those I loved littering the ground around me as I died."

"Ah, yes. What were their names again? There was Eddie boy..."

Cassandra's eyes blazed with anger. "Edward."

"That's the one." Percy said mockingly. "And the little girl... That's right. Carmela."

Cassandra screamed, and pounced at her little brother, slamming his head against the wall until he bled. "You killed all my loved ones! You abandoned us to die at the hand of one you call a brother!" She growled into his blood-soaked ear.

Elijah was laying on the floor with a rather broken neck, Rebekah and Klaus were not due to return until evening, Kol was never around- and Marcel was traveling. There was no one to hear or see the scuffle.

"Correction: I left you to die at the hand of an insane murderer. I don't care about Klaus. And I'm stressing the you in this, Cassie. I took Katerina, and I couldn't care less what happened to the lot of you." Cassandra's grip loosened, and Percy managed to throw her off. "And now that I know what tortures you even more than the deaths of your loved ones- I can torture you for an eternity, With the knowledge that no one cared about you. Face it, Cassie- you're all alone in this world."

Cassandra felt her anger grow more, but deep down, a voice kept telling her that maybe- Anna was right. Percy did feel lonely. She remembered one of the things Katerina had told her about their brother. She'd said he never suffered alone. If he was hurt- he'd make others suffer his pain alongside him.

"You mean Kathy's little bastard?" He laughed mirthlessly at her shock. "Didn't expect me to know that? I know everything about little Nadia, Cassandra. And let's just say your little murder attempt hurt me. I guess I'll just take it out on her. My next stop is Nadia, Cassandra. And you'll live an eternity knowing it was your fault."

She could no longer contain her rage. Cassandra grabbed a stake, and pinned him to the wall, the wood in his chest inches from his heart. Percy stopped struggling, and just a trace of emotion- a bit of fear was in his wide eyes.

"You took my first born daughter from me, Perseus." She growled. "You will not take my second one as well."

"Cassie..." Percy said weakly, and Cassandra could see some guilt on his face. "Carmela... She..."

She pushed the stake deeper into his chest, making him gasp a bit. "Do not speak her name!" She spat. "I should kill you for her memory. You took my family from me! You shall take no more of it. Any last words, brother?"

Her grip on the wooden shaft tightened, her eyes wide with a bit of disbelief of what she was doing.

"I'm afraid I can't allow you to take any of my family either." Percy had not been the one to speak. Cassandra's eyes widened with fear, but before she could react, her heart was in the hands of the hybrid standing behind her. The eldest Petrova fell to the ground at her brother's feet, her skin turning grey.

Percy stared at her in shock, before falling to his knees at her side.

"Cassandra..." He whispered pleadingly, shaking her body in a hope to wake her. "Cassandra please... I'm sorry! I'm so so sorry, just please wake up!"

Klaus looked at Percy as he shook the dead woman, the stake still in his chest as he begged her to wake. Rebekah stood a bit behind him, her eyes wide with shock.

His humanity was back.
