Wolf's Bane

It's been a little over a week now since Derek has been staying with me. I had to admit it was a little weird at first, since it was kind of spur of the moment thing. But he's actually a really good roommate. He's really clean and despite our previous interactions he's pretty quiet, but the best part is that he works out a lot..shirtless. Although, sometimes I feel like it's more for me than himself.. And it's surprisingly easy keeping him a secret from Scott and Stiles. If they found out I knew all hell would break loose, especially with Stiles.

I woke up to the ringing of my phone and saw a picture of Stiles pop up, "Hurry up, we're outside."

"..of my house?" I said groggily and looked out the window to see a black Camero parked outside. "Is that Derek's car?!"

"Will you just hurry up!" Stiles cut in.

I rushed outside as Stiles let me into the back of the car and Scott speedily took off.

"Ok..so we're supposed to just drive around?" I asked.

Suddenly, Stiles's dad's voice came on the radio, "Repeat, suspect is heading on foot. We're in pursuit heading northwest."

"Is he talking about Derek?"

"Well it looks like we got our own problem, look." Scott motioned behind us.

I turned around to see a car come out of nowhere and it was gaining on us.

"Faster?" Scott asked.

"Faster!" Stiles agreed and Scott shifted gears and pressed further down on the pedal.

"Scott, I don't think you're grasping the concept of the car chase here." I retorted.

"If I go faster, I'll kill us!" He replied.

"Well, if you don't go faster, they're gonna kill us!" Stiles yelled. Suddenly the engine roared and they accelerated forward, swerving down the road.

I turned around and saw our pursuer no longer behind us, "They're gone." I informed Scott.

The radio blared, "All units, suspect is on foot heading into the Iron Works."

"That's nearby." Scott said as he drove towards the location. When we came up to Iron Works I saw a construction vehicle being hit with some type of arrows that exploded on impact. Out of nowhere Derek did a flip and hid behind it. Scott saw him and quickly pulled up beside him.

"Get in!" Stiles yelled and he scurried to the back seat with me. Derek lunged forward and got into the car. Before he can close the door I looked up to see Allison's dad with a machine gun ready to fire at us. Scott slammed on the pedal and we took off, as a flurry of bullets were being shot at the car.

"What part of laying low don't you understand?" Scott asked, with an annoyed expression.

"Damn it! I had him!" Derek yelled, hitting the glove compartment.

"The Alpha?" Stiles stuck his head up in the front seat.

"Yes! And the freakin' police showed up."

"Whoa, hey! They're just doing their jobs." he defended. Derek snapped a look to Stiles, who shifted uncomfortably.

I nudged Stiles and whispered, "What the hell is going on?"

Stiles just shrugged and continued to listen to Derek. I sat back and crossed my arms as I listened in on their conversation.

"Yeah, thanks to someone who decided he wanted to make me the most wanted fugitive in the state!"

"Can we seriously get past that? I made a dumbass mistake. I get it." Scott apologized.

"Alright!" Stiles yelled, "How did you find him?"

Derek looked at Scott and Stiles with unsure looks.

"Can you try to trust us for at least half a second?" Scott pleaded.

"Yeah, both of us-" Stiles chimed in, but Derek glared at him. "Or just him...I'll be back here." Stiles added and leaned back.

"Look the last time I talked to my sister, she was close to figuring something out. She found two things. The first was a guy named Harris."

"Our chemistry teacher? Why him?" I finally spoke up and leaned forward.

Derek did a double take at me and shook his head, "I don't know yet."

"What's the second?" Stiles asked and leaned forward, trying to push me out of the way. "Some kind of symbol." Derek explained and showed us some sort of drawing. Scott looked at it and sighed.

"What? You know what this is?" Derek asked in a stern voice.

"I've seen it on a necklace...Allison's necklace." Scott struggled to say.

Hours later and I was at my locker rustling through the mess of papers on a shelf. I didn't get to sleep much after what happened last night. I slammed my locker and was about to walk away when Scott and Stiles came running up to me with worry all over their faces.

"What is it?" I quickly asked.

Scott looked at me with a serious face, "..Jackson knows."

"Ja-Jackson knows?!" I replied with shock, "How the hell did he find out?"

"I have no idea.."

"Did he say it out loud...you know the word." I shrugged.

"What word?" Scott blankly asked.

"Werewolf." I whispered, looking around to make sure nobody was listening.

"Did he say, "I know you're a werewolf"?" Stiles cut in.

"No, but he implied it pretty freaking clearly." Scott panicked.

"Okay, maybe it's not as bad as it seems.

"I mean, he doesn't have any proof, right?" I began.

"And if he wanted to tell someone, who's gonna believe him anyway?" Stiles finished.

"How about Allison's father?" Scott retorted.

"..Okay, it's bad." I thought out loud.

"I need a cure..Right now."

"Does he know about Allison's father?" I suddenly asked.

"I don't know."

"Okay..where's Derek?" Stiles asked.

"Hopefully hiding..." Scott replied.

..or at my house...I thought to himself.

"Why?"

"I have another idea. It's gonna take a little time and finesse, though." Stiles explained.

"We have that game tonight. It's quarterfinals. And it's your first game." Scott retorted.

"I know, I know...Look, do you have a plan for Allison yet?" he changed the subject.

"She's in my next class."

"Get the necklace." Stiles ordered.

"Right. Get the necklace." Scott repeated.

"Stiles is supposed to be coming over...he might be surprised you're here.." I said to Derek.

He sighed, "Well...they would have found out sooner or later."

Suddenly Stiles barged into my room, "Who are you talk-" he began before seeing Derek lying on my bed. "This is where you've been hiding?! You've been hiding him?!" Stiles yelled looking back and forth from me to Derek.

"...surprise..." I replied and awkwardly smiled.

"Are you crazy?! What if the alpha comes?!"

"Well what other choice does he have? It's not like he can go home." I explained

"If you say one word-" Derek threatened and grabbed Stiles by my collar.

"Oh, what, you mean, like, "Hey, dad, Derek Hale's living with Andy bring your gun"? Yeah, that's right." Stiles cut in as Derek released him.

"If my friend is harboring your fugitive ass, it's his house, his rules. And we've been friends since we were in diapers, so basically this is my house too. My house, my rules buddy." Stiles said to Derek and bravely patted him on the head. Derek glared at him and acted like he was going to punch him.

"Oh, my God!" Stiles flinched.

"Scott didn't get the necklace?" Derek quickly asked.

"No. He's still working on it." I replied.

"But there's something else we can try. The night we were trapped at the school, Scott sent a text to Allison asking her to meet him there." Stiles explained.

"So?"

"So it wasn't Scott."

"Well, can you find out who sent it?"

"No, not me. But I think I know somebody who can." Stiles said as he dialed someone's number.

"Hey we're still doing lab work together right?"

"Ok, well I'm at Andy's house; I just thought I'd be easier if all three of us worked together."

"5 minutes? Ok, see you in a little bit." Stiles finished and hung up my phone.

"Who was that?" I quickly asked.

"You see..and I'm going to need you to work your magic..if you know what I mean." Stiles replied.

"...work my what?" I said in disbelief.

Before Stiles can reply I heard a knocking on my front door and when I went to open it I didn't expect to see who it was, "Oh! Hi Danny!" I awkwardly smiled.

Stiles wasted no time and asked Danny if he could trace a text from Allison's phone which Stiles knew he could do because apparently Danny was arrested when he was 13 for doing this kind of stuff. "No, we're doing lab work." Danny finally stood his ground.

"Come on! Just one little hack," Stiles begged.

"..Who's he again?" Danny suddenly asked, looking at Derek.

"Um, my cousin...Miguel, just imagine he's not here." he lied. "So anyway, I mean, we both know you have the skills to trace that text, so we should probably-" Stiles began when he suddenly threw water on me while Danny wasn't looking, "Jeez I you're such a klutz. Hey Miguel, why don't you be a doll and help Andy get a new shirt."

I glared at Stiles as I got up and went to my closet to change shirts. Derek stood up and met me. "How am I supposed to help?" He whispered. I looked around my closest before getting an idea.

"Aw Miguel, that's so nice of you to offer your shirt." I grinned and tried not to laugh. I saw Derek clench his jaw before going to take his shirt off as I did the same. From the corner of my eye I could see Danny staring at the both of us. I quickly put his shirt on searched for one he could wear, specifically a smaller one that even I couldn't fit anymore. There was a stripped red and blue one I found and happily pulled it out.

"You can wear this one in the meantime."

He let out a deep sigh and went to try the shirt on, but it was so small that it stuck to him like a glove. "What do you think Danny?" I suddenly asked.

"I-Uh-It's not his color." He sheepishly replied and Derek hastily took it off. I rummaged through as if I was looking for another shirt.

"I don't think I have anything that's going to fit." I lied.

"Ok..I'll need the ISP, the phone number, and the exact time of the text." Danny gave in when he finally stopped staring and Derek and I.

"Awesome! Ok here." Stiles exclaimed.

As Danny clicked away at the computer and I found a shirt that Derek could actually fit and handed it to him with a big smile on my face.

"I'm going to get you back." He whispered.

"There. The text was sent from a computer. This one." Danny suddenly said as he finished. Derek and I went over to them and crowded around the computer. I saw the name and my eyebrows immediately furrowed.

"Registered to that account name?" I couldn't believe what I was looking at.

"No, no, no, no. That can't be right." Stiles denied as he looked at the account name that read Melissa McCall.

"Shouldn't you be getting ready for the game?" I suddenly asked after letting Danny out.

"...no I can't...we have to find out if what we saw was true."

"Stiles. This is your first game as first line, and your dad's going to be there...me and Derek can go." I replied looking to Derek.

"Well what about you?! Stiles exclaimed.

"I'll be fine. I can afford to miss one game." I replied.

"I-I can't..I have to see for myself..come on we're taking my car. " Stiles answered before grabbing his keys and going outside.

The three of us were sitting in Stiles' Jeep staring at the front of Beacon Hills Hospital. The parking lot was empty, except for maybe one or two cars. Stiles was on the phone with Scott, he was at the game along with everyone else-except Stiles and I. He talked to him about the necklace before putting him on speaker.

"Where are you guys?! You're supposed to be here. You're first line. Man, you're not gonna play if you're not here to start."

"I know." Stiles replied gloomily.

"Look, if you see my dad, can you tell him-tell him I'll be there, I'll just be a little bit late, okay?"

"You're not gonna make it." Derek said.

"I know." Stiles sighed.

"And you didn't tell him about his mom, either." Derek added.

"Not till we find out the truth." I added as I began to follow Stiles out of the car, "Wait!" I yelled before Derek grabbed my wrist. "What are you doing?" He asked.

"I can't let him go by himself."

"Just..be careful." he replied and stared at me as I nodded back to him.

We walked into the hospital, to find it creepily empty and silent.

"...hello?" I called out, but the only response was my echoing voice.

"I'm officially creeped out..." Stiles said.

All of a sudden the sound of my phone ringing made us both jump; it was Derek. "What's going on?" He asked.

"We can't find her."

"What do you mean you can't find her?"

"She's not here. Nobody is..."

"Ok ask for Jennifer, she's been looking after my uncle." Stiles led me into Peter Hale's room, but it was empty like the rest of the hospital. The room looked completely clean like no one had even been staying there.

"Yeah well...he's not here either." I said, confused.

"What?"

"He's not here...he's gone, Derek."

There was a moment of silence.

"Andy, you and Stiles, get out of there right now" Derek yelled, "-it's him! He's the Alpha! Get out!" I dropped my hand with the phone to my side and grabbed Stiles' wrist and slowly backed out of the room. "Peter is the alpha." I gasped.

"You must be Andy and Stiles." I suddenly heard someone say. I whipped around to see a man with long hair and some kind of burn scars on the side of his face.

"What are you doing here?" Another voice spoke up. And we turned again to see Jennifer, the nurse, standing with her arms crossed and a sinister expression, "Visiting hours are over."

Stiles began mumbling and breathing hard, "You and him, Y-you're the one who- Oh, my-and he's-Oh, my God, we're gonna die."

Out of nowhere Derek came up and knocked out Nurse Jennifer.

"That's not nice, she's my nurse." Peter sighed.

"She's a psychotic bitch helping you kill people. Get out of the way." Derek demanded.

"Oh, damn." Stiles grunted as he grabbed my wrist and pulled me down. We had our backs against the wall.

"You think I killed Laura on purpose? One of my own family?" Peter walked towards Derek. I saw his eyes turn icy blue and his fangs extended before letting out a loud roar. He jumped off of the wall opposite of Stiles and I, and used it to kick off towards his uncle. Peter caught him and slammed him into the wall and then into another. The railings fell as he was slammed into them. Stiles and I began crawling away. He hid behind a counter while I took cover underneath the reception desks. I could hear all the fighting and talking going on overhead. I suddenly looked over at Stiles but don't see him there. "Stiles?" I whispered and was about to peek over the desk before someone got thrown through the glass and landed right in front of me.

"Derek.." I gasped.

He turned around revealing a bloody nose and mouth, "..get out.." he managed to say and began crawling away to lead Peter somewhere else. I see the two werewolves disappear and I leave my hiding place to look for Stiles.

"Come on!" he exclaimed, coming out of nowhere. We rush out and run to his jeep and quickly get in.

"Wait what about Derek?! Where are we going?!"

"He can take care of himself, we have to find Scott!" Stiles sped to the lacrosse field and we get there just as soon as the game ended. We got out of the car and pushed through the crowd, looking at everyone to see if it was Scott or not.

"Danny...Danny! I yelled, finding him amongst all the other players.

"Have you seen Scott?" Stiles cut in.

"Uhh...yeah I think he's still in the locker room." he replied with a confused face. Stiles and I darted off to the locker rooms and saw it was dark they quickly ran inside and saw Scott sitting on a bench with a bewildered expression.

"Dude! We have a huge problem." Stiles said as they ran into the room.

"..trust me, I know."
