Her view
Nagi could smell a burning incense of lavender. Opening her eyes slowly, she stares at the decorative mosaic ceiling of the sun. Nagi realizes that she is in a makeshift bed of blankets with fur edges. Her body aches when her left hand reaches towards the ceiling, attempting to touch the mosaic sun. Her eyes saw her bandaged arm. Her left arm drop to her side, she winces in pain.
'W-what happened?' Nagi thought. 'Did I lost the fight…?'
Her ears caught the door at her right side opens to reveal her mother, Hasna. She wore her hair to a side ponytail as she approaches Nagi's bedside.
"I see that you are awake now." Hasna said. Nagi looks at her mother then spoke up, "How long have I been out?"
Hasna sighs, "You and your father have been sleeping for five days." Nagi's eyes widen as she sits up quickly in her bed. She groans in pain to see her stomach is wrapped in bandage like her arm. Nagi could see her body is almost covered in large bruises from her fight. Hasna glares at her daughter, "Idiot girl, you haven't recovered yet."
The young woman interrupts her mother, "Who win the fight?" Hasna mumbles to herself about her daughter's rude behavior but answers, "It's a tie. This news has made your father irritated …"
All of a sudden, the women saw the door burst open to show her father in a loose robe to show his upper body cover in bruises and bandages in different places. Behind Rais is Inas who looks worn out from the man's behavior.
"Nagi, you will take responsibility to be the next head of this clan." Rais orders but only to get hit in the head by Inas' fist.
"It's a tie! Now go back to your room and rest before you will make your body worse." Inas shouts. Rais flinches from Inas' voice then apologies. Nagi felt a bit of sympathy for her father since she knows her grandma is scary when she is mad. He returns to his room quickly to leave the women alone. Inas let out a heavy breath, "This yelling is not good for my heart."
Inas took a seat next to Nagi's bedside; she reaches towards Nagi's chopped hair. "A shame to have your hair cut like that…"
Nagi shrugs her shoulders, "It will grow back. Don't worry about it." Half of left hair is cut off by Rais' blade while her right side of her hair is longer. She will miss braiding her hair since it took her a long time to grow it to her desirable length. Hasna stands up to grab a pair of scissors and a silver brush from a wooden box. Nagi looks at her mother in confusion. Inas have a small smile on her face and excuse herself from the room.
Nagi follows her mother's orders to sit on the tiled floor. Hasna took a seat on the floor behind Nagi. They remain quiet, Nagi felt fingers combing through her hair with a brush following her mother's fingers. Then she hears the scissor's cutting her hair.
"You should have your hair in a medium length. It will not be a distraction in battle." Hasna explains. Nagi nods her head. Hasna's mouth lifts up, close to a tiny smile. After a while, Nagi held a small circular mirror in her hand to see her haircut. Her hair is cut to a medium bob. Hasna could see her daughter liking her new haircut. Nagi thanks her, Hasna clean up the mess and left the room to let her daughter recover.
Three days past, Nagi and her father could leave their recovery room. Nagi and her parents including Inas sit in the meeting room. She faces her irritated father and calm Hasna while Inas sit a couple feet behind Nagi. Rais refuses to listen to Nagi's wishes. Hasna glares at her husband's childish behavior, "Stop this foolishness dear."
Nagi remains silent as she listens to her parents talk back and forth. Her hands rests on her lap then tighten to fists. As her parent's got louder, Nagi had enough of the bickering.
"Stop it this instant!" Nagi shouts out in a strong voice. Her parents stop their bickering to turn their attention to Nagi. Nagi spoke up, "Father, I will not take over the clan. I'm not ready to take the responsibly of looking over my family or strong enough to protect them."
Rais tries to protest but Hasna squeeze his arm to let her daughter to continue.
"I'm glad that you don't hold back in our fight. When I'm ready to take over the Asad, I want to beat you in battle to show how strong I have become." Nagi said with determination. Rais looks down with a frown on his face. Silence took over the room for a few seconds.
"I guess I was too stubborn to see your view of this matter." Rais finally spoke, "Very well, I will accept your condition. Don't think I will go easy on you."
Nagi nods, "I don't want you to hold back at all."
"Now then tell us about your travels. I'm curious about it." Rais said.
Nagi tells her parents of her new friends and her findings in Sindria. Inas held a worried expression on her face when Nagi explains Sindria's king, Sinbad and his true intentions. Rais and Hasna carefully listen to their daughter's words.
"King Sinbad, I heard about him but it's surprising that he possess such power with strong generals behind him." Rais commented. Nagi bows her head to her parents, "Don't start business or make any alliance with him. I believe he is only taking care after himself and his kingdom."
"Sometimes we question that man's motives but you confirm our suspicions." Hasna answers.
Rais speaks up, "We have a favor to ask of you Nagi." Nagi looks at Rais with confusion and let Rais continue.
"We must ask of you to visit the Kou empire and pay respects to the the late emperor of Kou as a representative of the Asad."
"Pay respects? What happen to the emperor?" Nagi look at them, worried. Rais sighs, "Three days ago, we receive a message of the emperor passed away. They sent us an invitation to attend his funeral. We cannot go since we need to look over our business. Instead I want you to go in our place."
Nagi bows, "I will go soon as possible."
Extra: Sindria
In his office, Sinbad sneezes out loud, surprising his most of his generals. He sniffles while thinking for a second.
"Something wrong Sin?" Ja'far asks.
"Someone is talking about me…probably a beautiful woman." Sinbad answers. Ja'far shakes his head and mumbles to himself, "Probably cursing at you…" His generals who heard Ja'far's comment, nods in agreement.
'Lady killer…' They thought to themselves.
