Chapter 11

Emily sat on the bed that Tony and herself used to share. Yesterday was the day that Gibbs had forced the two to break up. Tony had decided it would be easier for both of them if he moved back to his apartment. Emily and Jack had helped him move his belongings back to his apartment, and then they returned to the safe house without Tony. The whole experience had been hard on Emily and she wasn't sure how she was going to handle the rest of her life. Whenever Emily thought of Tony, it almost brought her to tears. She hadn't slept at all last night, and she didn't figure that tonight would be any different.

Michelle and Tony were both lying down on the bed that they shared, her head resting on top of his chest.

"So, how's your dad doing?" Michelle asked him.

"As far as I know, he's doing good," Tony replied, "I know that he still has a couple of NCIS agents guarding his room, and he's still being heavily sedated right now, but the doctor believes that he's going to make a full recovery,"

"Well, that's good news," She answered.

Tony nodded, as he carefully rolled over, hovering over Michelle, "I love you, Michelle,"

"I love you, too," She responded, before he connected his lips with hers. Passionately kissing her.

Michelle ran her hands up his back, before reaching his hair, where she buried her hands, holding him there. The kiss eventually led to making love, which eventually led them to collapsing in eachothers arms, and falling asleep.

The next morning, Emily was getting to work, after -again- a night of absolutely no sleep. She knew she shouldn't feel sorry for herself, but, when Gibbs had pulled away the only thing that she loved the way she loved Tony, she couldn't help it. She hadn't gone to work yesterday because she was helping Tony move his belongings back to his apartment, and she wouldn't dare let her co-workers see her. She was a complete wreck yesterday, and today, she decided that she was only a ninety-eight percent wreck, which was as good as it was going to get. Pulling on her jacket she smelled coffee brewing in the kitchen. She walked out of the room, after grabbing her purse, and made her way to the kitchen. Jack was standing by the counter, drinking a cup of coffee.

"Hey, Em," Jack greeted her, seeing her pull a mug out of the cupboard.

"Mind if I join you?" She asked polietly, pouring herself a cup of coffee.

"Please do," He responded, looking towards her, "How you feelin?"

Emily took a deep breath, this was really the last thing she wanted to talk about, but, everyone was just worried, and she respected them for that.

"I'm doin' ok, I guess," She admitted, taking a sip of the hot coffee.

"Ok..." Jack replied, not believing a word of it, "Tell me how you really fell,"

She closed her eyes, there was no way she was going to get away with lying to him, he was like a human lie detector, "The truth..." Emily started, opening her eyes again, "I feel like shit,"

"That's more like it," He agreed, feeling sympathy for her.

"I fell so hard, and so fast for him, that getting up is going to be near impossible," Emily admitted, "And the hard part is, is knowing that he didn't want it this way either, he didn't want to leave me, Gibbs forced us apart,"

"I can't believe your boss would do something like that," Jack pondered.

"I heard he was the one of the best field agents that NCIS had ever had, and now, I hate his guts, he tore mine and Tony's relationship apart, and he thought that us being in a relationship was going to effect our jobs, wait til' he sees what this does," She said, finishing the cup of coffee, "I have to go to work,"

"Ok, see ya later, Em," Jack replied.

Emily nodded, and waved, walking out the door. When she arrived at NCIS, she noticed Tony's car parked in the parking garage, 'this is going to be a long day,' she thought to herself.

Michelle woke up and noticed Tony still sleeping next to her. She looked at the clock, eight-thirty, Emiy had already gone to work. She couldn't believe she hadn't heard her. Jack was probably already awake, he had probably been up for several hours now. 'That man was like a machine,' she thought to herself, smiling, 'he could stay up until one o'clock in the morning, and then wake up at four, and have enough energy to go all day.'

Her thoughts were interupted by Tony, "What are you doing, sweetheart?"

"Thinkin'" She replied, looking at him, and smiling.

"Well, that might even be more dangerous than letting you cook," He joked with her.

"Stop it!" Michelle whined, climbing over Tony and straddling his waist.

"Is this my punishment?" Tony asked, resting his hands on her waist.

She leaned down and rested her hands on his chest, "You wish," she mumbbled before connecting her lips with his.

Emily sat at her desk, furiously typing on her computer keyboard. She figured the more work she took on, the less time she had to think about Tony. But, with him sitting across from her all day, at his own desk, that was pretty hard.

"Emily," McGee said from across the room. Emily didn't notice anything, "Emily!" he repeated a little louder this time.

She snapped out of whatever trance she was in, "Wh.. What? I'm sorry,"

McGee stood up and walked over to her desk, "You ok?"

"Did you hear?" Emily asked, looking up at him.

"Hear what?"

"Gibbs force me and Tony apart," She told him, almost coming to tears.

"Oh.. Emily... I'm so sorry," He said, "but, I still need the reports from last week,"

"Oh, ok, yeah, here" She replied, handing him the reports.

"Thanks," McGee replied, then added, "Look, Emily, I really do feel sorry for you, I hope it all works out,"

Emily nodded and continued working. Tony and Emily ignored eachother as much as they could, the rest of the day.

Tony, Michelle and Jack all sat around the kitchen table with a deck of cards. They each had a hand of cards and there was a draw pile in the middle.

"Jack, do you have any kings?" Michelle asked Jack.

"Go fish," Jack replied.

"Michelle, do you have any fives?" Tony asked.

"Here," Michelle handed him two fives.

Tony discarded the rest of his hand, in a set of three fives, "I win!"

"You know, winning gold fish is not that big of an accomplishment," Michelle informed him.

"Against Jack it is," Tony boasted.

"Oh, please, I let you win!" Jack replied, defensively.

"No you didn't," Tony contradicted.

"I could've of shot ya," He replied, "Then I would have won,"

"We are playing a family friendly game, and you want to shoot me!" Tony replied, mock offended.

"The game would be more fun with guns," Jack said.

"That is probably true, but this is a kids game, and we were just playing it because we were bored, we don't need to bring guns into this," Michelle said to them.

"It would be more fun, though," Jack repeated.

"Whatever, you two have been agents to long," Michelle informed them, standing up and walking into the bedroom.

The end of the work day, finally. Emily quickly gathered her gear and walked out of the office. Driving back to the safe house she realized that she needed to go grab her pajamas from her apartment. She couldn't continue sleeping in the t-shirt that Tony had lent her. She pulled into the parking garage of the apartment building, hoping to get in and out of there before Tony came back from the office. She quickly made her way up the stairs to the fifth level, and into her apartment. She went into the bedroom, and grabbed her pajama pants out of a drawer, and a tanktop from her closet. Walking out of the bedroom, she heard someone open up the door. She set down the pajama pants and the tanktop on the floor next to the bedroom door, and drew her gun. The person that had walked in, was obviously stronger than her, when he took her gun and pinned her up against the wall.

"Baby, there's no need to shoot me," A familiar voice said to her.

"Derek!" Emily said, loudly, "What the hell are you donig here, breaking into my apartment?"

"I want you back, Emily," He admitted.

"Derek, I told you already, I am happy with someone else!" Emily lied, he always managed to get to her, when Tony and herself weren't a couple.

"Yeah, about that, I asked around before I left that crime scene, nobody said that you were a couple," Derek contradicted.

"Ok, yes, at that point, we weren't a couple, but, we are now," She tried, hopefully.

She heard footsteps out in the hallway, and hoped it was Tony coming home from work. She heard a knock on the door.

"Emily, I saw your car in the parking garage, are you still in there?" Tony's voice said, from the other side of the door.

"Tony!" Emily said, loudly and distressed.

"Don't come in here, I will shoot her!" Derek threatened, holding Emily's gun up to her head.

Emily quickly disarmed him, and pinned him beneath her, "Tony! Get in here!"

"Emily..." Tony replied, walking into the apartment, seeing her ontop of Derek.

Derek then threw Emily off of him, and pointed his gun at DiNozzo.

"Derek, don't you dare shoot him!" Emily said, pulling herself off of the ground.

"Well, if he's the one that took you away from me..." Derek started.

"No! Don't you dare blame him for that, that was your fault," She yelled at him, trying desperately for him not to shoot Tony.

"It wasn't my fault, so I made a stupid mistake, we all do it," He said, now pointing his gun at Emily.

Emily put her hands up in a surrender position, "You made a stupid mistake, and now, I'm with Tony, and he has made me happier than you ever did,"

Emily could see Tony walking up behind Derek. He heard Tony approaching, Derek turned around and shot Tony. Emily walked up behind Derek, disarmed him, and handcuffed him.

Emily leaned down next to Tony, and placed her hands over the bullet wound.

"Tony, I need to roll you over," Emily informed him.

Tony nodded, as Emily pulled his body up, so she could see his back.

He moaned loudly in pain, "Ok, Tony, I've got a exit wound, it was through and through,"

"Emily..." Tony said weakly.

She was almost in tears, "Yeah,"

"I love you," He said, before he closed his eyes and gave into unconciousness.

Emily leaned down and kissed his forehead, "I love you, too,"

Emily pulled his cell phone out of his suit jacket and dialed Gibbs.

"Gibbs," He answered.

"Tony's been shot," Emily blurted out.

"What? Where are you guys?" He asked.

"We're at my apartment, you'll also need to send over agents, I have a man hand cuffed here, he was the one that shot Tony,"

"Ok, two medics and a field agent are on their way, they should be there in ten minutes," Gibbs informed her.

"Ok, thank you," Emily replied, closing the phone, now all she could do, was wait.
