Author's Note: Sorry for not updating sooner school has been busy and I've been working on my Jonathan Crane fan fiction. Reviews are always nice and remember it's only forever! Also, the dream was not caused by Jareth.
"It's a king your highness!" the dwarf midwife shouted her pointed green ears moving upward in glee. Ixtab sighed in exhaustion as the baby was presented to her. The baby fascinated Ixtab with his peachy skin and glowing mismatched eyes looking at her in confusion. Reaching her slender finger out to him, she paled at the sight of an owl claw grabbing her hand. "GET THAT THING OUT OF MY ROOM!" Ixtab shrieked causing the baby to cry.
"Miss…" the midwife attempted to plead at the raving mother. Wild eyed Ixtab pointed sharply toward the door and stated bluntly, "Out." The midwife, realizing there was no way to placate her mistress left with the swaddled bundle.
* Don't talk to strangers*
Sarah eyed the feathery creature warily as he pushed her into a remote cottage. The room was sterile and Sarah gagged as the strong scent of bleach filled her nose. Machines hummed noisily, hooked up to a rather large patient. Its skin was orange and mottled with green feathers with white, jagged teeth protruding out of its rather long beak.
"Don't worry dear and sit down. I promise mother won't bite." the creature laughed as he scratched at his pustules.
"Mother?" Sarah squeaked looking warily at the creature removing what appeared to be a first aid kit beside her.
"Yes, I am afraid she suffers from a horrible disease." the creature replied sadly while placing a green liquid on a cotton ball, "Don't worry this is just to clean your wounds." Sarah hissed as the green liquid seared against her cuts.
"What is it?" Sarah groaned as the creature began tightly wrapping gauze across her arms.
"Death, I'm afraid. A very difficult thing to cure. Thank goodness you came along!" the creature stared gleefully at her his yellow eyes gazing at her with approval.
Sarah tried to move away shocked as the creature quickly shoved a needle into her arm.
"You see mother's heart gave out and a nice pure, heroine's heart is exactly what she needs. Don't worry I'm a doctor."
She looked into the eager face as her world turned black.
*In the land of dreams*
Iridescent bubbles shined in the bright light. Memories swarmed around her in a fervent fashion. Her old room full or props and tales of lore, Her dad grinning happily at his new bride, why she pouted in her silver flower girl dress in the corner, her first play where she bowed to the applause of adoring parents, then Toby and her growing resentment, then him. This bubble was brighter than the others and as she reached to touch it, the bubble expanded and swallowed her inside. In the crystalline structure the Goblin King grinned cockily, "I knew you would come to me Sarah."
Swallowing her shock she declared, "You haven't won yet."
Jareth began to idly twist his hair and grin in amusement, "No, not yet, I'm afraid this is your imagination, and out of all the bubbles you have seen of your dreams and memories," he swept his hand to produce the bubbles before her, "yet you choose this one to go inside."
Striding up close to her, he bent low until his lips touched her ear. "Do you want to know why precious?" Kissing lightly on her ear he whispered, "You know I'm your future."
*Now back to the annoyed king*
Staring into his crystal he stared dejectedly at the disheveled girl inside and began to seethe in anger. The ignorance of Sarah was astounding! To willingly follow a stranger into their house! She seemed happier to get her heart removed by an insane creature than marry him! Well she would learn soon enough…
