A bit of clarification
I meant to put this in the A/N at the bottom of chapter 10 but completely forgot until I was reading it over after posting it. So here it is now.
Skye's family dates back to before the Auld Alliance between Scotland and France (I don't remember what year the Alliance was originally formed, but I do know that Mary Stuart's marriage to the dauphin helped to re-strengthen it).
Also, Skye is a Lilin (male Liliu), a descendant of Lilith in religious (Herbrew, I think) lore. Traditionally, Lilins feed off of sexual energy and would seduce men to ensure the continuance of their kind, and are considered to be the first succubi. I have altered this for the story to where they are beings that absorb their lover's magical ability into themselves via sex. So she is not a succubus, but is close. Her family doesn't believe in love, sex for love, or marriage. They get to know a lover for no other reason that to see how powerful they are and, if said lover is deemed powerful enough, they mate, house and care for the witch (financially) during the pregnancy, but then take and raise the child within the family with no other contact with the mother. A wizard who is the father of a Lilin's unborn child is abandoned the moment the pregnancy is confirmed.
I haven't decided whether or not to explain all that in detail in the story, so I thought it only fitting to give a little note of clarification in case I did decide not to, or to only allude to little fragments here and there, so that there wasn't any confusion. :) Hope it helped. Let me know what you guys and gals think so far. -SIMP
