Clary woke up the next morning in her bed. She could barely remember the night before but to her surprise she didn't have a hangover! Jace had obviously been in her room as he had left his stele on her bedside table. Clary got out of bed. She was still in her clothes from the night before and smelled of alcohol. She threw the clothes off and jumped in the shower. After her shower she changed into some of her own clothes and grabbed hers and Jace's stele. She shoved them into her mid calf length boots that she was wearing. She only ever wore her thigh boots when Isabelle made her and her parents couldn't see her!
She wondered up the corridor and found church laying outside one of the empty rooms. She bent down and stroked him and he purred.
"Hey, church where's Jace?" Church stood up and walked down the hallway. Clary followed him and he lead her to the door of the living room.
"Good cat," she said and with one last stroke she entered the living room.
To her surprise it wasn't just Jace in there but everyone! Even Luke and her mom who was holding Beth.
She went over to her mom and Luke and said good morning. She held out one of her fingers for Beth who took hold of it. Clary couldn't get over how cute she was. All dressed in a tiny pink baby grow. Clary just wanted cuddle her all day. She kissed the top of her head before walking over to sit next to Jace on the other couch.
"Morning!" He said and kissed her cheek.
She reached down and pulled out his stele from her boot. "You left this!" She said.
He took it and put it in his belt. "Thank you! What's wrong you look confused Fray?!"
"It's just...this is probably going to sound crazy but we did go to Pandemonium last night and-" she lowered her voice at this part. "And I did get drunk right?"
"Yes. Why are you asking?" He looked amused.
"Why don't I have a hangover?"
He chuckled. "When you were asleep last night I drew a healing rune on you! They can cure hangovers aswell. Handy! But you were so drunk you didn't even realise that I was drawing a rune on you. You just carried on sleeping!"
"Ohhhh."
Just then Jocelyn came over carrying Beth.
"Clary, you want a hold?" Clary definitely wanted to hold her baby sister. She took her hand out of Jace's and put her arms out to receive the baby. She was so light. And beautiful. Her eyes were open and she was staring up at Clary. Clary gently rocked her.
"Hey beautiful." Said Clary. She kissed her sisters cheek. Other than Jace and her sister she was unaware of anyone else. She held her sister for ages and whenever Jocelyn would come and ask Clary if she wanted her to take the baby Clary would say no.
Clary couldn't help but think, when looking at her sister, that at least she would grow up in this world knowing she is apart of it. Jocelyn came over again for what must have been the seventh time. Clary could tell she was dying to have Beth back. "Don't worry you can have her back now!" Jocelyn smiled.
And then Clary felt the pain in her head again. It came on slowly.
"Mum take her now! Quick! NOW!" Jocelyn looking confused but quickly took the baby from Clarys arms just as the pain came on fully.
"JACE" she screamed. Jace who was sat next to her held her hand and she heard him speak in her ear. He knew what was coming, so did she.
"Clary it will be okay. We are all here. No one can hurt you." The pain was bad. Clary screamed and curled up in a ball on the couch Jace still holding onto her hand. She held his hand tighter willing for him to not let go because if she could feel him there then she wouldn't be as scared. Her head throbbed and ached. And then he was there. He was stood against the same wall he had been stood against last time.
"It's working, I'm through. Tried to put some sort of block on your mind didn't you? Well it didn't work! Did you really think you could keep me out?" The pain in Clarys head had eased a lot but it was still there.
"Get out of my head!" She shouted out loud. She felt Jace's grip on her hand tighten.
"No. By being in your head it allows me to communicate with the clave without getting too...close. I had wanted you to be killed. You see when one of the fairy knights came to me and told me that they had failed in getting rid of you and the others I was very angry. But then he gave me the lock of your hair. You see I had to have a backup plan just in case the Seelie Queen failed. And then I realised I was glad you weren't dead. You served more of a purpose being alive."
"You bastard!" She shouted.
"Now now sister do watch your language remember we have an audience. Well at least you do." She opened her eyes and saw everyone staring down at her with a worried look on their faces. It was weird. She could see everyone but she could still see Sebastian. Keeping her eyes open made her head ache more. She looked up at her mom who was still holding Beth. Then she heard Sebastian's voice in her head.
"Ahhhh, this must be my new little sister!"
Clary felt overwhelmed with rage. "NO!" She screamed and closed her eyes. He could only see what she could see, if her eyes were closed he wouldn't be able to see her.
"Fine my new little step-sister."
"No, she is nothing to do with you. Don't you ever even talk about her."
"My, my someone is a bit overprotective! And may I remind you Clarissa we are all related by blood."
"No the only blood that runs through your veins is demon blood. There is nothing good about you and you are not my brother or her brother."
"I have had enough of this conversation. I need to go. I have...plans to attend to."
"What? That's it just dropped in my head for a chat" She said through gritted teeth.
"My dear Clarissa, I only came to warn you that you cannot win. And also to find out what your plans are. The beauty of being in your head is that I can see into your thoughts. Maggie Horngrove. The Seelie Queen was stupid to give you any information but I can assure you that by looking for her you will not find anything. Call off the search. It will only get you in more trouble than your already in for. And if you don't, then don't say I didn't warn you. I will take down anyone who stands in my way."
"Get out, get out, get out, get out!" She screamed.
"Goodbye Clarissa. Don't worry I will be seeing you again soon. Oh and by the way as your brother I do not approve of you being dragged out of a club by your boyfriend" He smiled and then disappeared form her head. She hadn't been thinking about last night, in fact she couldn't even remember it. He must have seen them last night. She felt sick. Tears streamed down her cheeks. She opened her eyes and everyone was looking at her still. She turned to Jace who was looking at her with a worried expression on his face and wrapped her arms around him. He wrapped his arms around her and stroked down her hair. She didn't care that everyone was watching.
