BPOV
I woke up to an empty bed. I wondered where Edward had gone. Maybe I woke up late and everyone was in the kitchen. I rolled over, and found a note lying on the bed side table. It read, 'Went out for a bit, Bella. I'll be back soon; Alice will take care of you. Love, Edward'. I yawned and hopped off the bed, still in my PJs. I pulled on the clothes Alice had given me, the green shorts and pink tank top.
I walked into the kitchen and saw Tanya making coffee. I was about to turn around and run back into Edward's room, but I decided against it. I wasn't scared of her.
"Oh hello, Bella," Tanya smirked at me, her sweetness was so bitter it wanted to make me puke.
"Hi." I replied sharply. She grinned to herself, stirring the spoon around in her cup. She looked me up and down, giving me dirty looks. She raised the cup to her lips.
"I don't know what he sees in you." She muttered before taking a long sip. I ignored her comments and grabbed myself a cup to make coffee as well. She turned around to face me and watched me intently.
"Edward deserves better, don't you think Bella?" She said, laughing quietly. Ugh, I hated her so much.
"Who do you think you are, Tanya?" I raised my eyebrows. Who was she to say I didn't deserve Edward? I already knew I didn't, but how dare she say so? I only knew her for a day! She laughed again.
"Listen, Bella, I've been Edward's friend for years now. I come to live in his house every year, I know him better than you do, if you even know him at all. Look at this way, he's basically perfect, and you're…not so perfect." She sneered at me. "You're not even pretty. Your pairing is pretty pathetic." She rolled her eyes, and started to walk away. Before she left, she turned around to face me again.
"And by the way, he'll dump you as soon as possible, just like all his other girlfriends." She laughed wickedly, as her words cut through me. My self esteem had dramatically decreased and my knees started to feel wobbly. Alice came around the corner looking solemn yet angry all at once, and wrapped her arms around me.
"Bella, that's not true. Nothing she said was true. You should see the changes I see." She tried to comfort me as I pressed my face into her shoulder and quietly sobbed. "Before you, Edward never took an interest in anyone. He was alone, and not that he minded, though, it hurt me to see him like that. After he met you, he's so much happier, more optimistic; he's so full of life now. That's thanks to you, Bella; I wouldn't have chosen anyone better. You are one of the most beautiful, smart, and funniest people I know." The sobbing had stopped now, and I looked up at Alice with teary eyes and gave her a smile. "You're ten times better than Tanya, Bella. Edward knows that too." She led me into the kitchen and we finished off our breakfast.
EPOV
I had been awakened by the sound of my cell phone buzzing. I looked beside me, and there, Bella was sleeping soundly, nuzzled into her pillow. I reached over to grab my phone when she spoke.
"Edward…" she croaked. I was afraid that maybe I had waken her up too. "Edward, bring back some kiwi, and a refrigerator. Thanks Edward, I love you." I laughed silently and kissed her forehead.
"I love you too, Bella." She fell back asleep instantly. I reached for my phone. Apparently, I had a new message from a number not known to me. I opened the message, and was a bit taken back by the words in it.
You took her from me, pretty boy.
You took my life. Meet me at the beach at seven in the morning.
Sweet dreams, Eddie.
Jacob.
I found this very silly. Yet, I had the feeling that I should go. I needed to talk to him anyways, Bella wasn't his. I knew his intentions in the message. He would most likely get violent. No, I wouldn't hurt Jacob. He was, after all, Bella's best friend. She wouldn't want me to hurt him, and so I wouldn't.
I glanced at the clock; it was almost time to meet him. I got up and got dressed, and left a note for Bella, so she wouldn't worry. I quietly snuck out of the house and into my Volvo. The landscape passed by as I headed to the beach, the trees a blur in my window.
I had been waiting for a good twenty minutes before he showed up. He was walking slowly, with his hands in his pocket, and the biggest grin plastered on his face.
"Hey, Eddie," He called to me.
"Hello." I replied politely. He was about a meter away from me now. He looked up at the sky, rocking on his heels.
"Why would you do that? She's mine." He turned back to look at me, his expression was menacing.
"She isn't yours, Jacob." I shot back at him.
"I've known her longer than you have; she's too good for you." He spat at me, coming inches closer. Well, I already knew Bella was too good for me. I must be very lucky to have her in my life. I didn't need to hear it from him too.
"I know that." I whispered. Jacob was coming closer, looking exceedingly irritated. Jacob retracted his arm, ready to punch. His arm shot forward, but I caught it in my hand.
"I don't want to, and I'm not going to hurt you." I said through clenched teeth. I so badly wanted to punch his face, but I would not, for Bella.
"Hah! You don't strike me as a coward, Edward." He spat again. He retracted his arm once again, aiming for my eye. I dodged his blow, he may be strong, but I was fast. Frustrated, Jacob lunged for me, pinning me to the ground. He punched me once in the chest. This didn't hurt; hours working in the gym had finally paid off. I got up and brushed myself off quickly.
"This is pathetic, Jacob. I'm leaving, Bella is waiting for me." I turned around to walk back to my car.
"Fine. Take Bella, she's not even that pretty. She's not worth it!" he called from behind directly me. That was it. How could he say that about his best friend, whom he loved? I wouldn't hear a word against Bella. I turned around and shot my arm straight at his nose. He staggered back, both hands covering his now bleeding nose. Instead of fighting back, he turned around and walked away.
I got into my car and drove back to Bella. My love, my life.
JPOV
I had failed in defeating Edward, in gaining Bella. But fighting him would do no good. Why was I here? Why didn't Bella love me, her best friend who had always been there for her? I was beyond frustrated by now.
"This is pathetic, Jacob. I'm leaving, Bella is waiting for me." He turned around. I ran up to him so that I was directly behind him
"Fine. Take Bella, she's not even that pretty. She's not worth it!" I blurted out, not even knowing what I was saying. Bella was the most beautiful woman on earth. Edward turned around, his emerald eyes on fire. He shot his arm at my nose. The warm, red liquid flowed down to my chin.
I deserved that.
Bella was so worth it.
A/N: Edward prevails! Hurrah! All the characters have issues, tut tut. So, I might bring Jacob back, later on in the story. Near the end maybe, but im gonna let Edward and Bella get cozy first.
