A/N: IMPORTANT NOTICE, PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THIS BOOK/FIC.

If anyone has noticed yet, but the chapters have all shifted around, most notable is the 'Asteroids' Chapter is not the first anymore.

Two Reasons for this:

1) The Story didn't flow that well with that chapter being the first one in the Prologue series, now it is demoted to the last to make it make more sense.

2) All the prologue chapters have all been rewritten, so that all of the issues with Chief's mental issue been sorted and are now linear, the chapters have been spell checked properly and been beta-ed, twice, just so that they all are right. This is what I have been doing in return for all the support that I have gotten over the past week, I thank all of you for it.

Now onto the adventures of Chief while he is aboard the Normandy and his interactions with some of the crew and his Promethean Bodyguard/Friend, Who now has a name!

Commander in Chief

Chapter 11

The Spark

March 2185

Master Chief – Sierra 117
Normandy Crew Hall

I had already made my way through the slow elevator and up to the Crew deck, where Shepard's XO was, on my way, I was thrown a few stares by the humans in the hall who were eating their food, I swiftly ignore them and move in front of the door and see a green Holographic projection of a circle, with binary written all over it. I put my hand on it and the circle starts to spin and then the door unlocks and opens to a woman sitting at a desk in the back of the room, surprised by my appearance. There was silence.

I broke the ice with a salute and with my greetings. "Hello, I was told by Shepard to come and see the XO as soon as I was settled in?" I ask as well, seeing if she had been informed already of my presence. "That is you right?"

"Yes that is me. And why are you saluting? This isn't a military vessel," The Woman asks.

"You are a higher rank than me, I am suppose to salute to Commanding officers."

"What rank are you?" She inquires.

"Master Chief Petty Officer." I reply instantly.

"Ok, what is your name?" She continues, filling out a datapad in front of her.

"Master Chief, or Chief. Service Tag S – One - One - Seven" I answer.

"No formal name to be represented by?"

I think for a minute, thinking about giving her my first name, these are different people than the people I am use to, should I? No. They are not counted as friends yet, they will not earn that privilege. "No. My name was striped of me when I signed up for my training." I say, a half lie/truth. Not wanting to give to much away at once.

"Ok, then, any previous battle history?"

"Numerous battles of Reach and Halo. None of these exist anymore, they were eliminated as I finished my mission against my enemies."

"Ok then, I've never heard of them, but I'll put them down." She types it all down and moves along. "Medical History, any issues with your health?"

"No, Ma'am."

"Ok, Weapons specialisations?"

"Any weapon on the battlefield, I was trained to work with anything that I could find. But I think I will be more comfortable with the firearms I have brought aboard with me."

"That is fine with me. Ok, your file is complete and you are registered as a member of the Normandy crew, you with not be fined for property damage while we are out on mission, also you are to be equipped with the standard military specifications of armaments, but I she you've got your own." She turned around and grabbed something off a rack and brought it over to me. "Hold out you arm for me." I did as instructed. She put a bracelet kind of thing surround my wrist and as soon as she was finished, the device produced an orange glow which form into a shape around my whole lower arm.

"What is this? I'm seen Shepard with one."

"This is an Omni-tool, an tool that can be used for everything from on the battlefield to just storing pictures of things you like." I come tell what Cortana was thinking 'Ooh! An new thing to use!' But before that could happen, the light on my wrist turned from orange to blue. Obviously saying that she had entered the hardware and was looking into its processes. "It's not suppose to do that. " She looked at it confused and I turn my speakers off to speak with her.

"What are you doing? Your not suppose to be messing around with this stuff until I exit the room. Now leave it until I have finished getting the new stuff, then you can have a field day with it." My message was received loud and clear as the tool went back to its original orange colour, making the look on the woman face go away.

"That was odd, did you have anything to do with it?" I shake my head in the lie that I just pulled. "Ok then, next is a Medi-gel canister that I will give to you." She went behind the desk and pulled a red canister out and placed it in my hands. "This will give you relief from pain and encourage tissue repair, this will work much faster than anything you have in there." I place it into a pouch on my belt. Ready for replacing the bio-foam in my systems.

She continued "One last thing is this." She pulled up her own glowing, orange, Omni-tool and type in something to it which made my hand pulse with the light as it was telling me that I had a file inbound. "This is a HUD for your use, it marks target it your range and give them a box for you to shoot at, it also has a approximate health and shield bar for the enemy due to their vital and does the same for you. Displaying you vital signs and shield at the bottom of the HUD.

"Thank you, but I've got my own, I'll see if any of this is a useful addition to it, thank you for everything, do I need to be stationed anywhere?"

"No, not so far, we haven't seen your combat abilities first hand and we have not run test to see your strength and weaknesses overall, so you can do anything you want as long as it is not harmful to the ship." She says and I nod as I open the door behind me to leave the room, going back into the crew hall, might as well go back to the cargo hold if I have nothing else to do. Before any of that, I was intercepted by the Turian, Garrus. Putting me on edge, still not wanting to trust these new aliens

"Hey, where you going?" He asks I was just getting into the elevator.

"Going back to my hole in the cargo bay to take stock of what I have. Why?" What does he need my for?

"Well, your little flying robot thing is having an argument with the ships AI, something about data being inconclusive and such, you might want to calm him down before he goes all aggro on her."

"Ok, where is he then?" I step out of the elevator.

"He is in the AI core, just go through the med-bay and there is a door at the back of it, go through there and you should find him, EDI, the ships AI and Legion, a Humanoid robot that can talk."

"I'll be on my way then, you want to come with me just in case things get out of hand?"

"Sure." We both make our way to the outside of the med-bay and enter it to an old woman tending to Shepard broken arm and Tali next to him, obviously comforting him.

The old woman looks up from Shepard to see me walk in. "So you are the one who broke his arm? Well you did a good enough job that he requires professional medical attention, at least he made his way here instead of being ordered to, hmm Shepard?" All that was replied was a huff and a slight laugh as me and Garrus made our way into the AI core. Coming into sight was Spark and the Legion that he was talking about, they was shouting at each other with a blue Hologram speaking up every now and again.

"Why do you wish to help these species? These species are not as relevant to this issues as the Reclaimers on this ship." Spark said as Legions plates on his head rose and descended as he pointed out the issue.

"But why are the humans so special in your eyes? All species should be treated with the same respect as yourself, we cannot be forced to choose over one another, that is making everyone indifferent." The hologram rejected.

"We agree with the AI, in the past when species make another seem all powerful, 78% of the time, this exchange would end up in a war, be it civil or intergalactic." Legion added.

"You must see that this is the problem with your community in general, sharing the power with other species make them weaker, that what the Forerunner's did with the Precursors but when they tried, we instigated war and won because we did not rely on others to protect or help, that is what the Humans have done in the past 500 years of me being in service." I wanted to end this before we have another issue with AI again, not wanting another enemy in the ship.

"Calm down the three of you, Spark, you have a different view to everyone else in the room, just let your opinions be and don't express them, even if you want to, just keep a cap on it, if you want to talk to another person who has the same views as you, go talk to the Knight in the cargo hold."

"But, Reclaimer, you came from where I came from, you must share the same as me. You had the war between your species and the Covenant. Even your ancilla has seen all you have seen." He said and all of the people in the room looked at me expectantly, waiting for an answer.

"What is this ancilla? According to this unit, that means you have an AI on board with you, may we talk to it?" Legion asked. I put my hand up to the back of my helmet and pulled out the chip of Cortana and put it n the pedestal in front of me, she popped up in her blue form and looked at them. Garrus turned his head at the form, obviously not wanting to look at the 'naked' form of Cortana.

"Hello there, I am Cortana, Service Number CTN 0452-9, what would you like to talk about?" She turn to her right to see Garrus not looking at her. "What?" she questions. Then realises what the problem is. "Oh, really? I'm not even a real human!" She exclaims.

"No… why?" He moves his head back to look at her and here confused face returns back to her happy one. "Ok, I'm fine with it, just warn me next time ok?"

Cortana put her hand to her head and just sighed. "Fine. Can we carry on?" Legion nodded and I left them to talk about there differences.

Garrus moved back with me and we went into conversation. "So, why do you have a 'naked' AI?" He asked.

"I don't know, all I know is that she was the second AI to be made from a Human's DNA and that she was given to me to help me on the battlefield and other things." I reply.

"So you have been hiding a AI in your head all the time you have been here, even if it is only an hour, if I was back on Citadel Security, C-Sec, I would be arresting you and you would have been executed for having her. AI are banned in Citadel space, so keep her out of earshot when you are around there, especially if we are on the Citadel." We talked about other things, like the weaponry I had, well at least I could say without breaking NDA and other things, even if it looked like there was no ONI in this space.

Once we had finished about everything that Garrus wanted to talk about. He was so avid in his guns and everything that surrounded him, even if he was an unknown aliens, he was surely polite to me, being an new guy here. Cortana was still talking to the trio of AI and then I saw the Humanoid robot pick her chip up and look at it, she wasn't liking it being around her, so in one swift move, I grab its arm and moved it so fast that it lost its grip on it and I caught it back, placing her back in the slot in my head. "Anything he got?" I had to ask.

"No, he just wanted to see what architecture I had, I said no, but he carried on like I didn't ask. Thanks for the catch by the way."

"Wasn't hard, he wasn't paying attention. Anything you pick up on this galaxy?

"Yeah, a lot in fact, we will have to sit down and talk about it, there is a lot to discuss about our well being in the galaxy. But that's for later. Spark was always arguing about the Forerunner dominance on other 'Reclaimer' stuff, but noithing that made them hostile though, we also made a deal between each other that our past that I went into a bit to be kept back from the others, including Shepard, just so that we have no-one wondering where we came from, we have a temporary alias and back ground for now, you know, until you want to disclose anything further, we'll do it slowly, make sure we don't drop anything heavy on them."

"Ok, thanks as well, that will come in handy for what's going on, but the rest for later." I turn my audio back on. "Spark! We got to get moving! Get down back to the cargo bay and wait for me, I want to discuss with you about the weaponry and other stuff, Classified Intel."

"Ok, Reclaimer, we will wait for you." He floats off and through the cargo bay, with Shepard looking at me through the door as he made his way through.

"You were in there for along time, anything you need to tell me?" Shepard wondered.

The Ai, EDI, popped in before any of us, even Legion. "Nothing to report Commander, just exchanging data and having an disagreement about where we stand on Aliens with Spark."

"Ok then, you can leave before I kick all your asses out of there, even yours Garrus." He chuckled and laid back down on his medical bed. "Oh, yeah, Chief?" I looked at him with my attention. "Thanks for busting my ribs as well, you've doomed me to the med-bay for even longer." I just looked at him.

"If you want, I can break your legs if you want me to, I'm sure I can handle it." I respond with the taunt.

"Oh, no please don't if I stay any longer, you will have to guard to entrance just so I don't escape." He mouthed something after of the terms of 'Please don't' I just chuckled and left him with Garrus by my side as we went back to the mess hall.

"You want anything to eat? You can't be still not hungry after all that." He said beckoning me towards the mess.

"Nah, I'm still fine, if I do get hungry, I've got my rations that don't taste like shit."

"Ok then, your loss." He says as he disappears into the mess as I walk my way towards the elevator, back down to the cargo bay. As I was waiting, I heard a huff from behind me and when I turned around, I saw a man that looked like he was in his 50's and had a scar running all the way down his face with a white eye which replaced his right one, making it look prosthetic, he was wearing an Orange and black armour with multiple tattoos along his arms.

"What you looking at, No-Face?" He insulted me right out of the gates? Maybe the Human race is not as good as I thought?

"You do realise this is a suit of armour and that I am Human?" I reply.

"Yeah, well I don't give two damns about you goddamn past, No-face." He walked past me and went round the corner and into the same area that Garrus went. I walked into the elevator and pressed the button to go down into the cargo aby, with the Hologram popping up in front of me.

"Sorry about that, that was Zaeed, our resident Mercenary, he can be a little blunt sometimes, don't worry, he won't cause you any trouble." She says.

"It's okay, I've seen far worst than that in my Missions."

"Logging you out Chief."

As I make my way into my little hole on the cargo bay. Just behind a Tank that had just been positioned there for some reason, I put Cortana's chip on the desk and let her pop up in front of me, with me sitting down on a box that could support my weight. Before any conversation could be started, we were interrupted by a green glow being the Knight who walked round the corner, wanting to find me.

"What can I do for you Er… You got a name yet?" I ask.

A hiss was heard before he started to talk. "No, we have no connection back to the Forerunner network, although we found our Serial number being PK 56448. The PK being in your language, a abbreviation of Promethean Knight. Though no Formal name can be found for me."

"EDI, made an appearance again next to us. How about a different language? Wenrum. The white Knight of the Salarian, another race of the galaxy." She put in her opinion, which made the knight stop twitching and think.

"Ok, we will take that name and become it. My name is Wenrum. The white Knight of the Reclaimer." I had to double take that after he said that. Seriously? He is taking a name after a alien race? A bit better then Spark who was still opposite to being in a group with them. "With that sorted, I came here to ask you about the Human race, as in our Universe's one, not these, what are you like?" He asked, a very in depth question that I couldn't fathom to answer myself as I have only been a proper human for about 10 years,. Cortana will know more than me, I'm sure about it.

"Cortana, can you educate Wenrum in the Human race." I say, she takes the point and waits fro him to continue, but asking one question first.

"Anything in particular Wenrum?"

"Human civilisation from the Forerunner-Era in general." He says.

"That's a blind spot on us, but we've got enough data from terminals in our travels to help you, may I ask why you want to learn about it?"

"While you were away from the cargo hold, I was left with my data processes, my thoughts, and I went into a storage that made me see a file that had the view from the Human-Forerunner war, I think it was the Human side, I want to get data from you or your ancilla to see if it correlated with what I saw.

"That's fine with me" I say as I lean back on the crate behind me. "Cortana can educate you with what we got, I'm just going to get some shut-eye if you don't mind." I hear Cortana start to read off what we had got as I let my eyes drift into sleep, a long, awaited sleep for the Reclaimer.
