Chapter 11

"Okay, let's try this one more time," Raven said after an exasperated sigh.

"Raven, we have done this for too long," Kori was infuriated and wanted to stop practicing for a long time, but it seemed as though her friend wouldn't let her, "why can I not take a break?"

"You know why Kori. It's not my fault that you agreed to do this. I'll admit that I didn't believe that you would actually agree to do this, but you did. You signed up for this, now you have to complete it. Now, are you ready to try again?" Raven had her arms crossed at this point and raised an eyebrow. The way she stated her question made it sound like Kori didn't have a choice. She didn't, of course.

"… Alright. But you must promise me that we will have a break once I fail?" Kori pouted. Seeing that Raven wasn't impressed, Kori had widened her eyes, thread her fingers together and held them in front of her chest, and curled her lower lip.

Wow, different person and yet the same face. Well, I guess that means that Starfire is still in there somewhere… Hopefully… Raven thought as she fell to Kori's demise. "Fine, we can take a break if you don't get this one. If! Kori! If!" A person who didn't believe in themselves or others, that definitely wasn't Starfire-like.

"Thank you," and with that, Kori had resumed in her meditation form and closed her eyes. Her thumb and middle finger were joined with the top of them lightly pressing against each other. Legs were crossed and breathing was deep and evened out. Once she felt calmed enough, again, Kori let Raven's word turn over in her mind.

"Now, the way my powers work is through emotions. I must suppress them so no consequences can happen. If I ever lost control…well let's just say that I will never lose control." Not wanting to get into her background at the moment, Raven moved on. "You once told me about how your powers functioned and, lucky for us, they also rely on your emotions. The only difference between you and me is that mine depend on all of my emotions while yours solely focus on anger, happiness, and confidence. Now, what I want you to do is remember times when you felt these emotions. Whether it was just recently or something you remember. Anything will work."

"And if I cannot think of a time when I felt these?"

"Believe me, you will. Alright, tell me when you have a memory in mind and tell me which emotion it's based on." With that, Starfire took her position and thought over everything that happened to her recently. Let's see, there was that time when she held Silkie in her arms. It wasn't until everyone had left her room that she had felt a warming sensation filled her heart and she felt affection towards the little worm-like creature. Was that good enough? Maybe…

"Raven, I believe I have a memory of happiness."

"Really? Good, now I want you to sit like how I'm sitting. With your legs crossed, eyes closed, and your middle finger and thumb pressed together on both hands. Good. Now let's focus on your breathing. Take a deep breath, in…" Raven demonstrated by inhaling through her nose and making it obvious as well, "…and out…" then she blew it out from her mouth. "In through your nose…and out through your mouth," another demonstration. "Keep doing what I'm doing and tell me when you feel at peace." They both continued to do so and it wasn't until a few minutes after when Kori had told Raven she was ready.

"Okay, now it's time to bring back that memory. Do you remember how you felt?" Raven opened one eye and looked at Kori. She was able to see a her lips slightly turn upwards and there was a calming in her voice.

"Yes, it wasn't until after you all left my room when I had decided to be with him. There was a beautiful feeling I felt in my heart and I remember feeling love, so much love, towards him. I grew close to him, sooner than I expected to be honest, and we spent the rest of the night cuddling." Kori sighed and opened her eyes to see a surprised and happy glint in Raven's eyes.

"Kori, can you tell me who you're talking about? Is it Robin?" Please let it be him, please let her remember her feelings towards Robin. A confused look spread across Kori's features as she cocked her head to the side.

"No, it is Silkie. Why would it be Robin? Were we close before?" A million questions popped into her mind as she wondered why Raven would suggest him. Then again, Kori felt weird whenever she was around him. And when they were walking in the halls her first night here, she had asked him if he was with Raven. When he said no, she was relieved. Who is Robin to me?

There are so many directions I could go with this story right now. I have a lot that I need to do with the stories I'm working on and one idea keeps popping up after the other. I started school last Wednesday and I already have a bunch of homework. Then again, I signed up for these advanced classes. This means that I won't have enough time to write since I had to get up at 4:30 for this chapter. I'm usually fine with only 3 hours of sleep but that doesn't matter that I still don't get tired once in a while. I hope you liked this chapter and know what I'm going to do for the next three or so chapters. Please review and all that other good stuff! I don't own anything but Warner Bros. and DC Comics do!

Always yours,

light is in the dark

P.S. I don't think I can finish the whole chapter so this is it for now. I'll try to update later.
