I wasn't gonna do this. I really didn't want to do this. But you all asked and asked and asked, how could I refuse? (And for those who hate this chapter, blame everyone else…)

Jack sat silently at the kitchen table, fidgeting over a mangled weapon that had long since outlived its use. A small but powerful ectoplasm gun, though having been unmaintained for so long, no longer worked. Jack tossed the object between two hands not really paying attention to what he was doing. A whole year.

It hadn't quite hit him back then when he first found out. That his son, his own son, had been the very thing he despised most in the world. That he was really part ghost.

Some part of Jack had really felt the urge to somehow try and fix Danny to get rid of the ghost that lay inside his son. To his own beliefs ghosts were evil and anything they came into contact with could become evil. Including Vlad. Jack winced as the vague whisper echoed throughout his head. Sighing he set the weapon down and gripped his head with both hands to calm himself.

But the other part of Jack, the father part of Jack, wanted to be there for his son and to accept him for who he was and that nothing could change it. He realized that who his son was today was a part of growing up and that his ghost half was responsible for that growth. It taught his son to be time manageable, work his very hardest, love truly and of course to try to do the right thing and these were things Jack saw from the quiet boy turned superhero.

Jack smiled to himself. Danny was his son, ghost and all. It would still take time for him to fully appreciate his son's circumstance but he was willing to do anything for his boy.

Glancing back down at the weapon on the table, Jack decidedly snatched it up and tossed it in the trash. Dusting his hands off he headed out of the kitchen and down to the lab to start working on some improved ways of fighting alongside his son.

A few hours later

Red and orange sparks flew in every direction. The smell of metal permeated the air and a whirring sound bounced off the walls. On a work table a small metal cylinder with a mouth the size of a baseball lay on its side as a figure hunched over it. Sweat dripped from Jack's forehead under the mask covering his face. His expression was full concentration on what he was doing to not make any errors. A few mintutes later the welding tool was shut off and Jack removed the mask wiping his brow with the back of his sleeve.

This new weapon was specifically designed to not run on ghost ectoplasm. With Maddie at his side they had begun to explore more of the ghost zone curious to see what was really there. On one of their journeys, they had discovered these clear glowing crystals in bountiful amounts on small deserted floating island. Upon bringing them home, they realized that the crystals actually contained pure energy almost like what the ghost zone was made up of. Immediately they had begun trying to fashion weapons with the crystals as a power source but so far their efforts had been in vain.

Jack selected a crystal from table to his left. It was small and fi into the palm of his hand. The ghostly glow illuminated the area around it. Even more interesting was its prism-like effect which almost look like a contained rainbow.

Tying a electrical cord around the base of the crystal he place it in a little compartment on the side of the gun where a three-prongs made of copper were arranged in a circle to keep the crystal in place. Closing the compartment he hefted the gun into his hands to test it out. Hitting a button on the wall two test dummies rose from the floor. Taking aim he crossed his finger hoping that maybe, just maybe, the invention would work this time. Pulling the trigger, white light poured into the one dark barrel and shot like a bullet towards the dummy.

In a flash of light the dummy was gone and stuffing rained from the ceiling. Jack laughed loudly before taking aim at the other one and blasting it too. He raised the weapon in the air,

"It works!" He shouted in his usual boisterous way.

Setting it down he planned on working straight away on another one.

"Jack?" Maddie called from the top of the stairs to the lab.

Jack turned planning on telling her the great news about the power crystals but was silenced when he noticed the look on her face.

"I think… I think Danny might be missing…"

Dun dun dun. Yes I have decided to include what has been up with his family a bit. Why no Sam or Tucker? Well they're on vacation and don't know about Danny. Also this is kinda from the first day Danny went missing just to clear that up (they're not that unobservant lol)
