Alicante

I stretched my arms over my head as I got up. Too bad that I was going home alone today. I frowned at my image in the mirror. My bangs were getting too long. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and got dressed.

Nero was waiting outside my bedroom door. "Hey." He said.

"Hi." I responded. I gave him a hug and we walked, hand in hand, to the kitchen. We had a silent breakfast and then went to see Jace.

Jace was pacing his room. I knocked and he turned. "Hello, Amy." He said.

"Hey, Jace." I said awkwardly. I saw the hurt in his face. "Um, I'm headed back to Alicante here in a little while so I guess this is good-bye."

Jace gave me a small hug and nodded. The tightness in his movements told me more than words ever would. I went and said my good-byes to Alec and Isabelle. Then Nero and I went to Magnus' house.

Sammra hugged me tight and told me to come visit her again. Magnus smiled at me and bid me farewell. I went back outside.

"Amy." Nero had followed me out. I turned just in time to catch myself. He hugged me tight. "I'll miss you."

I hugged him back. "I'll miss you too." I pulled away. "I have to go for now but I will be back." He nodded and I went to find my way to see the Silent Brothers. I did my best to avoid portals.

Brother Jeremiah waited for me. "Nice to see you." He intoned in my head.

I smiled tightly. "It's time to go home, Jeremiah." He nodded and I followed him into the Silent City. The quiet was oddly comforting after everything that happened with Valentine.

It took us half an hour to reemerge in Alicante. "Tell your mother hello for us."

"I will." I replied. "Farewell and thank you, Brother Jeremiah." He turned and walked away. I hurried down the streets of Alicante.

Several people smiled at me and waved. I said hi to everyone I knew and finally went home. The door was cracked and the house was dark. My steps slowed.

"Mother?" I called through the door. A small movement caught my eyes around the back of the house. I pulled out my daggers and snuck around to the back of the house. A tall boy with black hair stood, looking in the window. "Sebastian?"

He spun, his eyes wide. "Oh, uh, hey." He stammered. Something was off. "When did you get home?"

I gripped my daggers lightly. "Just now." I said hesitantly, "Where's my mom?" He looked around and shrugged. My instincts were telling me that something bad was going on here in Alicante.

I pointed a dagger at him. "What?" He asked.

"You know something." I hissed. I took a step toward him and he tackled me. I rolled backwards and almost lost grip on both daggers.

Sebastian punched me and rocked my head sideways. I brought my elbow up into his face and he pulled back a little. It was enough for me to bring my dagger up and put a shallow cut in his cheek. Sebastian rocked backwards and I pushed him off.

"You have no idea what's going on here, Herondale." He hissed.

I stood my ground. "Who are you?"

"I'm Sebastian, of course!" He said. He looked like Sebastian but he didn't fight like Sebastian did. Sebastian normally knows how to block my low blows but this boy… This boy had no idea what I do when I fight.

I launched myself at him and drove my daggers forward. He dodged the blades but not me. I knocked him to the ground and hit him with the hilt of my dagger. It knocked him unconscious. I saw that his hair was an unnatural black. I pursed my lips and dragged him to the back door. It was unlocked so I drug him into the bathroom.

"Mom!" I called out. "Amatis?" She was nowhere to be found. I sighed and went back to the unconscious boy. I ran a wet comb through his hair and it came back blackened. "It's dyed?"

I quickly washed the dye out of the comb and then dragged him into the back room. One of the cabinets was cracked open. I barely glanced at it as I tied the boy to a chair.

I brushed my hands off and looked around for a bucket. "Where did she put that bucket?" I asked myself.

The cabinet burst open and my mother hugged me. "Amelia!" She exclaimed. "You're home!"

I laughed and hugged her back. "Hi, Mom." I said. "What were you doing in there?"

She looked around. "Someone was trying to get into the house so I hid." She shrugged and I shook my head slightly. "Why do you need a bucket?" I pointed at the boy in the chair. "You tied up Sebastian?"

I shook my head. "That's not Sebastian, Mom." She looked confused. "Give me the bucket and I'll show you what I mean." She handed it to me and I filled it with water. I set the bucket behind the boy and grabbed a cup.

Amatis sat across from him and watched me take the dye out of his hair. "He's blonde?" I nodded. "Who is he?"

"Let's ask." I tossed a cup of water in his face. He woke up spluttering. "Who are you?"

He growled at me, "Sebastian Verlac."

I shook my head. "No, you aren't Sebastian."

"I am."

I dumped more water on him. He spluttered and shook his white blonde hair out of his eyes. His eyes were a deep black. He glared at me and my mother. "What are you?" She asked.

An evil smirk crossed his lips. "The worst thing to happen to Alicante." He hissed.

I brought the back of my hand across his face and he grunted softly. "Yeah, the worst thing to happen to Alicante got beat by a girl." I said sarcastically. "So scary."

"Once you meet my father you will regret doing that." He said softly.

I kicked his chair backwards and he fell over onto his back. "Who's your father?" I asked him. I planted my foot on the base of the chair and looked down at him. He glared up at me. "Hm?"

A demonic sound emerged from his throat. "Valentine Morgenstern." A groan sounded in my throat. He smiled. "You know him?"

I walked around and bent down next to his head. "Your father has played a nasty little trick on my brother and his own daughter." I said dryly. "He is a very evil man and I can't wait until Jace gets his revenge."

"Jace?" He asked.

"Amy." My mother said. She looked frantic, "Don't." I gave her a disapproving look. She bowed her head and left.

"My brother's name is Jace, yes." I said. "Why?"

The boy laughed. "He and I have the same name, I know who he is." I must have looked shocked. "I am Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern, Valentine's oldest child."

I growled softly and kicked him in the face to knock him out. After that was done, I got up and stormed off. This is going to be an interesting few months.
