"Superboy!"
Felicity groaned, jumping up slightly, "Give it back!" She clawed at the air, pouting as the boy of steel raised the object of her want up higher. He peered at it, blue eyes squinting at the small writing.
"You keep muttering under your breath. It's annoying." Superboy deadpanned. He didn't bother to return the notebook and instead continued to stare at it.
"It's math. It's always annoying! Besides, your stupid static isn't annoying me!" Felicity quipped back with a jump as she once again tried to get her notebook back.
She had decided to work on her math homework here at the cave after her brothers started bickering over who would do the dishes. Felicity attempted to intervene and get them to stop arguing, but one thing lead to another and now here she was, at the cave, looking for some peace and quiet to do her homework.
The only other person that was here at this time was Superboy- and that was A okay with Felicity. Though the clone could be brash and loud, he was minding his own business watching static on the TV (again). She said hello, got a grunt in response, and sat down at the dining table to work on some math.
Until the clone decided to interrupt her mathing.
Superboy didn't bat an eye as he held the notebook just out of Felicity's arms reach, ignoring the frustrated girl, "The answer should be 46.34."
Felicity blinked at the clone as he dropped the notebook back on the dining table. It landed with a flop and the blonde scrambled to pick it up quickly, an annoyed "you're wrong" sitting on the tip of her tongue. Before she could say another word, Superboy spoke up.
"You forgot to take the square root of the whole before multiplying by pi."
She grumbled to herself, eyes flickering over her calculations and work as she frantically pushed buttons on her calculator until finally, with much annoyance, she conceded. Superboy was indeed correct.
"When did you get so good at math?" She asked, glancing up at the clone through thick lashes as she erased the wrong answer.
He shrugged, muttering nonchalantly as he stared at the wall behind her blankly, "I guess Cadmus deemed math important."
An awkward silence settled on the duo at the mention of the genetics lab. It was a topic no one on the team- or League- really talked about anymore. The clone liked to play the tough boy act, but anyone with a brain could tell the topic bothered Superboy so Cadmus became an almost taboo topic.
And for good reason.
Just thinking about the genetics lab and that night gave Felicity the heebie-jeebies. To even think about the fact she- and the others- were almost cloned sent shivers down her spine. That night could've gone a totally different direction than it originally did.
She glanced back up at the clone, watching as his gaze returned to the static on the large TV. He was still stood by her though, arms crossed over his chest and a blank look on his face.
Wonder what's going through his mind?
Felicity chewed her lip, glancing down at the rest of her math homework. She sighed and glanced up at the clone through thick lashes, "Care to test your algebra skills?"
Superboy glanced over at the girl and shrugged, not really having anything better to do, "Sure." He pulled up a seat and sat next to the girl, his shoulder brushing his. Felicity smiled at him.
Maybe math wouldn't be so bad now...
MOUNT JUSTICE
Smack.
Falcon laughed cheerfully, fist-pumping the air as the holographic puck slid into her opponents goal. Robin deflated as the girl continued to beam, the holographic ice hockey table whirring to signify her win.
The Boy Wonder groaned, shaking his head with a soft smile, "You win again, Fal." She continued to smile brightly as Robin looked around at their comrades, stepping to the side and asking, "Who's up next?"
"Me, right here!" Kid Flash's hand shot up as he chomped down on his banana, flashing Falcon a winning smile, "Let's see if you can beat the Wallman, Flick." He stepped up and stood where Robin once stood.
Her heart panged, smile immediately being wiped from her face. Whereas Kid Flash seemingly had no trouble rolling back into friend mode, Falcon was finding it to be a tad bit more difficult. Albeit the speedster had mostly stopped flirting with her, so that made things a smidge easier, but at the same time, it also hurt. Instead of calling her babe or beautiful like he once did, he just called her Flick. Which was apparently her new nickname.
In a moment of slight panic and a less than graceful move, Falcon stepped to the side, immediately whirling on the person who was closest to her, "Aqualad!" She exclaimed, trying her darndest to keep her voice steady, "W-why don't you uh... play against Kid?" The blonde rubbed the back of her neck, fearing the blush that was dusting her cheeks, "I don't want to be hogging the whole game."
If anyone noticed her odd behaviour, no one said anything- out loud at least- though Kid Flash did look slightly dejected as Falcon stepped to the side and Aqualad took her place, "Thank you, my friend."
Robin elbowed her side as she fell in line with him, but she promptly swatted his arm away before crossing her arms over her chest. Some things just did not need an explanation.
Kid Flash eyed the girl, watching as she picked at her fingernails absentmindedly, completely ignoring his gaze. He frowned, but didn't say anything as his game with Aqualad started up, the Atlantean being allowed to take the first shot.
Ten minutes passed by, Kid Flash only being a point ahead of Aqualad. With a final flick of his wrist, the puck went flying, sailing past Aqualad's hand and into the goal. He took a bite of his banana, grinning appreciatively as he was congratulated for his win.
"Recognized: Superboy: B-Zero-Six."
Falcon perked up, turning to face the clone with a grin on her face, "Hey Superboy!"
"How was Metropolis?" Miss Martian piped up. The two girls shared a look as Superboy stormed by, a grunt being the only sign he heard them as he spoke no words. It didn't take a telepath to know he was angry- but why was the question.
"Ready to begin training?" A voice called out and Falcon turned, watching as Black Canary stepped into the center, Martian Manhunter at her side.
Miss Martian perked up, eyes brightening as they landed on her uncle, "Black Canary! Uncle J'onn!" She shot forward, arms wrapping around the older Martian. A movement in the corner of Falcon's eye caught her attention and she glanced over as Superboy watched the small exchange, a scowl on his face.
Just as he turned to walk off, Falcon stepped in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder, "Are you okay?"
Superboy glanced down at the girl before brushing off her hand, "Fine."
"You don't look fine." She might've been trekking into an unsafe territory, but something was obviously eating the clone- most likely Superman- and things weren't going to get any better if he didn't just talk.
"Tch."
"Superboy ple-"
"Stick around." Superboy stopped and Falcon turned, Black Canary staring at the two with her hands on her hips, "Class is in session."
Falcon spared the clone one last look before falling in like with Miss Martian as Black Canary stepped into the center of the room. The floor lit up white beneath her as she turned to address the team, "I consider it an honor to be your teacher. I'll throw a lot at you. Everything I've learned from my own mentors-" She winced as she slipped off her jacket, revealing fresh bandages wrapped around a wound on her arm, "And my own experiences."
"What happened?" Miss Martian gasped, worried.
"The job," Black Canary replied shortly. She tossed the jacket to the side, where it landed in a heap on the floor, as she propped her hands on her waist, "Now, combat is about controlling conflict; putting the battle on your terms. You should always be acting, never reacting. Now, I'll need a sparring partner."
Falcon glanced down the row of her teammates before deciding to raise her hand and volunteer, but before she could do so a certain speedster beat her to it.
"Right here!" Kid Flash said, his hand quickly shooting into the air as he pretty much inhaled his banana, an impish grin on his face, "After this..." He swallowed the last bite, peel falling limp in his hands as he aimed at a nearby trash bin, "Swish," He tossed the peel into it, "I'll show you my moves."
Oh, Jesus Christ.
Black Canary didn't seem put off by the flirt, in fact, she looked relatively amused before she smirked, instantly charging at the unprepared speedster with a punch. Kid Flash managed to dodge said punch, only to have his feet swept out from under him as his back hit the floor, a circle appearing under the teen that read "Kid Flash: Status: FAIL."
"Ugh..." Kid Flash groaned, eyes trained on the ceiling as he laid on the floor, "Hurts so good..."
"Good block," Black Canary complimented, offering Kid Flash a hand, "But did anyone see what he did wrong?"
"Oh, oh! He hit on the teacher and got served?" Robin offered not so helpfully. Falcon snickered softly, hiding her grin behind her gloved hand. Kid Flash shot Robin a look, one that he extended the blonde's way as he realized she was also giggling.
"Dude!"
"Falcon?" Black Canary called out, turning to the girl. She sobered up immediately, standing slightly taller as her eyes met the older blondes own pair.
"Y-yes?"
Black Canary gestured to the center ring and to Kid Flash, who still stood in the center, "Care to join the demonstration?"
Falcon opened her mouth to protest but instead she agreed because how does one say no to Black Canary?
She stepped forward hesitantly, taking Black Canary's place as the older woman stepped out of the ring, hands once more propped on her hips. Kid Flash smirked at her, though there was a hint of slight unease under the smirk, "Now I get to show you my moves, Flick." The speedster sent her a wink and Falcon frowned, unsure if he had just tried to flirt with her or what.
"Begin!"
Before Falcon could really register what the older blonde had said, Kid Flash had charged her way. He aimed a punch at her and Falcon bent backwards, landing in a bridge position as his fist sailed above her face. She kicked up, foot connecting with the speedsters jaw as he stumbled backwards before she landed back on her feet, sinking into a crouch.
The two eyed each other, neither wanting to make the first move before Falcon surged forward, slightly catching Kid Flash off guard. The speedster retaliated by launching another punch, one that was easily avoided as the blonde spun the side before performing a round house kick, catching the speedster in the chest. As he stumbled a few steps, she sunk down, sweeping her foot under his legs, mimicking the move Black Canary had just performed.
With a slight yelp he fell to the ground, once again landing on his back as the words FAIL popped up beneath him. Falcon offered the fallen speedster a hand and helped haul him to his feet.
He rubbed his jaw, eyeing the lithe girl beside him, "Man, Flick, that's one powerful kick you've got there."
She laughed slightly, rubbing the back of her neck as she smiled shyly at the speedster, "Haven't been skipping out on leg day lately..." She joked.
"That's for sure," Kid Flash laughed.
Black Canary stepped up to the duo, a small smile on her face, "Good," She nodded before she turned towards the rest of the team, "You should never allow your opponent to dictate the terms of-"
"Oh, please," Superboy interrupted the older woman, a snarl on his face. Falcon could already tell this was not going to be good, "With my powers, the battle is always on my terms."
With a mischievous glint in her eye, Black Canary turned her attention to the Kryptonian, "Then prove it."
Superboy growled before he lunged, only for Black Canary to grab his arm and use his weight against him, tossing the clone into the air before he slammed into the ground with a loud grunt. Falcon flinched and Robin burst into laughter, only for Aqualad to nudge the young hacker causing him to place his hands over his mouth, an attempt to stifle his laughter.
With a huff Superboy clambered to his feet, anger surging through his body and Black Canary nodded, "You're angry, good- but don't react, channel that anger into-"
Completely ignoring everything Black Canary said, Superboy charged, a primitive roar leaving his lips. He made a move to tackle the older blonde, only for her to flip over him, causing the clone to stumble forward before she swiped her foot under his legs, knocking him to the floor much like she had done to Kid Flash.
He landed with a thump, Robin once again laughing beside Falcon. She nudged him rather harshly, the hacker giving her a light glare as she stared at the clone with concern.
"That's it!" Superboy roared angrily, brushing of Black Canary's extended hand, "I'm done!"
"Training is mandatory."
Superboy turned towards her, Falcon stepping forward slightly, as he opened his mouth to snap back, but before he could there was an incoming transmission. Batman appeared on the screen.
"Batman to the Cave. Five hours ago a new menace attacked Green Arrow and Black Canary," Batman reported, straight to the point. Falcon figured that was where Black Canary got her injured arm. A satellite feed appeared on the screen and the team watched as various League members attacked an unknown robot. "The attacker was capable of studying then duplicating the powers and abilities of its opponents. Arrow called in reinforcements, which nearly proved to be disastrous as our foe gained more and more power with each new combatant."
Falcon winced as she watched her brother, Hawk, get tossed not so gently into Superman on screen, Dove quickly racing to their aide.
"Whoa..." Kid Flash breathed out, stunned, "One guy with the powers of the entire League?"
Yeah... talk about devastating.
"In the end it took ten Leaguers four hours to defeat and dismantle the android."
"An android?" Robin inquired, "Who made it? T.O. Morrow?"
"Good guess, Robin, but no," Batman replied, "Red Tornado doesn't think so."
"The technology bears the symbol of Professor Ivo," Martian Manhunter remarked from behind the team. Falcon glanced back at him, noting his calm demeanor and shook her head. She had completely forgotten he was there.
"Ivo? But Ivo's dead." Aqualad began, confusion lacing his voice.
Black Canary sighed, glancing at the team with a grim expression, "So we all thought... or hoped."
"To make certain this threat is permanently neutralized, we're sending two trucks carrying the android parts to two separate Star Labs facilities in Boston and New York for immediate evaluation. Every precaution is being taken," Batman explained, a holographic map appeared on screen, the two separate routes highlighted, "There will be four additional decoy trucks to create confusion in case Ivo, or anyone, attempts to recover the remains. You will be split into two undercover teams to safeguard the two real trucks."
"Yes!" Kid Flash cheered, beaming brightly, "Road trip!"
Falcon had to admit, she liked the thought of a simple mission.
"So now we take out your trash?" Superboy scowled, glaring up at Batman.
The Dark Knight hardly seemed fazed, "You have something better to do?"
The clone opened his mouth to say something, but caught Falcon's gaze. Blue eyes met masked ones and he closed his mouth, shifting his gaze to glare at the floor.
"Coordinates recieved," Aqualad announced, pulling out a GPS, "We are on our way."
LITCHFIELD COUNTY
The team stood to the side, hidden behind some bushes with their motorcycles. Each of them were decked out in biker gear, courtesy of Batman himself. Granted Falcon felt rather out of place in the leather ensemble. She much preferred the kevlar and nylon fabric of her normal suit.
But alas, leather was much more appropriate for a mission involving motorcycles.
When the signal was given, Falcon slipped her helmet on over her head and revved her engine, speeding off after Superboy and Robin, en route to Star Labs New York.
As the trio fell in line behind their designated truck, Falcon couldn't help but appreciate the feeling of being on an open road on a motorcycle again. She missed her motorcyle- another hook up from Batman. Being a League member definitely had perks. And being the younger sister of two League members also had perks. Once Hawk and Dove had officially joined the League, Batman had been kind enough to supply the two with motorcycles for more convenient transport around Manhattan and New York, even going as far as to give Falcon her own.
Transportation and fighting crime in a big city had never been easier.
"If dislike is the opposite of like, is disaster the opposite of aster?" Falcon glanced over, eyeing the Boy Wonder as he weaved his motorcycle between hers and Superboy's, "See, instead of things going wrong, they go right!"
"Pretty sure aster is a type of flower."
Robin shrugged at the girl, "Words can have more than one meaning," He glanced over to Superboy, who's blue eyes were focused on the road ahead, a pout on his face, "And clearly you're not feeling the aster. What's wrong?"
"Canary," Superboy scowled, "What business does she have teaching combat skills to a guy with super strength?"
"Super strength isn't everything, you know."
"Yeah, besides, taking down stronger guys is part of the gig," Robin shrugged, "Canary learned the hard way. Same with Batman and, well... Falcon and me."
Superboy's scowl deepend, clearly not happy with his friends responses. Falcon sighed heavily as she glanced over at the clone, "Your powers shouldn't define you as a hero, Superboy. Just look at Robin and me... we both lack powers, yet here we are."
"Exactly. You two don't have powers. So what would you know?"
With that said, Superboy sped off, Falcon staring after him, mouth slightly agape before she pressed her lips in a thin line, "Dick." She muttered under her breath, eyes narrowed as she attempted to ignore the hurt feeling she felt.
Robin chuckled softly as he shook his head, "He's sure as stubborn as Superman is."
"Yeah, cause that's a good thing."
Before the younger hacker had a chance to respond, a shadow flew over the duo's head, causing the two to look up. Falcon sucked in a breath as Robin's eye twitched.
So much for a relaxing road trip...
"Are those robot mokeys!?"
"Robin, Falcon, Superboy. Our truck is under attack!"
"We noticed!" Robin shot back as he and Falcon sped up, falling in line on either side of Superboy.
"I hate monkeys," Superboy growled.
The robotic primates dove after the truck, attacking it from all sides and cracking the windows.
"Robin monkeys!" Robin cackled, clearly amused, "Totally Ivo's tweaked style!" He pressed a button on his motorcycle and the back end detached, floating up into the air and transforming into a little drone.
"Superboy, Falcon, switch your motorcycles to battle mode!" Robin shouted at the two.
"Dont' need it!" Superboy snarled. Falcon nodded as an acknowledgement, preparing to press the button before she found herself suddenly in the air, Superboy's arm wrapped around her waist.
She screamed as they flew through they air before landing on the truck with a thump, Falcon doubling over as soon as Superboy let her go, "You have got to stop doing that!" She yelled at the clone, removing her helmet before chucking it at the nearest monkey.
Superboy didn't bother responding, instead launching himself at the nearest monkey and smashing it too pieces. Falcon rolled her eyes, jumping back as a monkey flew her way. Before it could get too close, she whipped out a few knives from her jacket, launching one at the monkey. It lodged in its head, the monkey falling to the roof as sparks flew from the wound.
Falcon kicked the monkey off the truck, flipping forward and tossing out a few more knives. They lodged in their targets, a handful of monkeys falling lifeless to the roof with a thud. She spun around as Robin flew over her, escrima sticks in hand. The blonde ducked to the left, kicking a monkey as the hacker knocked one to the side as well.
"Argh!"
The angry cry sounded and Falcon whirled around, eyes widening as Superboy covered his eyes, obviously in pain. The strangled cry of his name escaped her throat as she watched the monkeys pick up the clone and fly off with him and depositing him in the cornfield.
"Don't worry about him!" Robin shouted, tackling Falcon out of the way of a laser. She glanced over at the Boy Wonder, mouth open to respond just as an explosion rang out and the truck swerved violently side to side.
Falcon held onto Robin as the driver attempted to steady the truck. A tire blew, sending the truck careening to the right and the blonde's grip on Robin increased a bit more.
"We need to bail!" Robin exclaimed through gritted teeth, clutching the birdarang he had stabbed into the roof of the truck with as much strength as he could muster. Falcon nodded and the two clambered to their feet, steadying themselves as much as the could.
The Boy Wonder swung his way over to the driver's side door as Falcon held onto the mirror. He told the driver to get out and together the three jumped off the truck, just barely managing to land in the grass before the truck crashed.
"Everyone alright?" She rubbed her head as she stood up, glancing over to where she thought she saw Robin and the driver land. Falcon got a groan in response and she rushed over to Robin, watching as he set the nearly unconscious driver down.
"I'm fine but-"
"I don't want to hear it." Falcon crossed her arms. If the throbbing pain in her forehead was anything to go by, her little roll in the grass left her with yet another souvenir.
It was beginning to be a trend and she wanted it to stop.
Robin shook his head but didn't say anything, instead just handing a small rag to the girl as he walked towards the road to find their missing partner.
"Superboy!" The hacker shouted as the clone jumped into the air, an enraged shout following him as he jumped away.
"Aqualad to Robin and Falcon. We lost our cargo. Did you-"
"It's gone," Falcong reported back, sharing a glance with Robin.
"And so's our partner!" Robin added on, annoyance lacing his voice.
"Aqualad to Superboy. Radio your position so we can help you!"
"I don't need help!" Superboy roared, "Don't want any!"
"Superboy? Superboy!?"
"Aaaaaand he's gone," Falcon scowled, "I'm pretty sure he ditched his comm."
"Super!" Kid Flash cried sarcastically, "Now we can't even track him!"
"He's out of my telepathic range," Miss Martian added, "This Professor Ivo, if he is alive, seems to be two steps ahead of us. Maybe we should contact Red Tornado?"
"Isn't he the one who told us we needed to work things out on our own?"
"Falcon is correct. Tornado wishes for us to handle things for ourselves. This mission can still succeed if we can recover the parts before they are reassembled."
"Great! Accept, you know, we have no idea where to look!" Kid Flash shouted.
"Not helping, Kid." Falcon shot back, watching as Robin walked off, examining a downed monkey a few feet away. She walked towards the Boy Wonder, watching as he pulled out a USB cable and plugged it into the monkey's head.
"We'd have heard by now if the decoy trucks had been attacked, right?"
"We would assume that, correct."
Robin's holocomputer popped up and he began typing on it, fingers flying across the keys. A few seconds later he exhaled, letting out a short laugh, "Aha! The parts have GPS! The monkeys can track the signal, which means I can track them with the one I captured!"
Falcon gently nudged the monkey with her foot, "I don't think captured is the right word."
Her comment was brushed off, "It looks like both sets of parts are converging on... Gotham City!"
"That far south?" Aqualad breathed out, "M'gann and I will not get there anytime soon. I am sending Kid on ahead to meet you. Aqualad out."
"Definitely a disaster. Heavy on the dis."
And Falcon couldn't agree more.
Gotham City
By the time Kid Flash reached the duo, it was nearing sunset.
"So, you changed too?" Robin asked with a laugh and Falcon glanced over, noting how the speedster was also in his normal hero attire.
"You kidding? I feel naked in civvies!" Kid Flash laughed, giving his best friend a smirk. It quickly shifted into a frown as he noticed Falcon and Robin's positions. She sat behind him on a single wheeled bike, arms firmly wrapped around his chest with her chin resting on his shoulder. She looked comfortable. Almost too comfortable for his liking.
It was a bit of an intimate position, but had Superboy not destroyed his and her bike, this would so not be happening.
"Hey, Flick," He called out, causing said girl to look at him. The speedster extended his arms, waggling his eyebrows underneath his goggles, "Care to ride with the Wallman?"
She didn't hesitate to respond with, "I'm good." She frowned. No way she wanted to ride in his arms all the way to Gotham City.
Kid Flash chuckled nervously as Falcon returned her gaze forward, he had kind of wanted to hold her in his arms. But he had ruined his chances of that ever happening, didn't he?
"Still tracking those parts?"
"They were headed through Gotham, but now they've veered," Robin reported, eyeing his GPS, "Wait! Dude! They're headed to my... uh- Gotham Academy!" He quickly covered himself as Kid Flash gave him a bemused look.
Robin veered the bike, heading off in the direction of Gotham Academy and Kid Flash followed suit.
Kid Flash zoomed ahead, disorienting the android as he sped by and grabbed Superboy, pulling the clone out of the android's path of destruction. He looked worse for wear.
Falcon flicked her wrist, a knife with a small bomb attached to it flying through the air as Robin launched a barrage of birdarangs beside her. The android merely reflected the incoming projectiles utilizing Martian Manhunter's powers.
"Access: Red Tornado." A red tornado appeared, whipping through the gym as it made a beeline straight towards them, the force of the wind throwing them all into the wall.
Falcon groaned as she collapsed to the floor, barely having any time to recover as she was swept into Kid Flash's arms, the speedster racing away just as the android blasted the spot they once were with Captain Atom's blast.
The blonde wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her head into his neck as debris rained down on the two, Kid Flash skidding to a halt behind the bleachers. He set Falcon down, placing a hand on her shoulder, "You alright?"
She nodded, "Good. You?"
Kid Flash gave her a curt nod as a response, a quirky grin on his face before he sped off, exiting the bleachers on the other side of the gym. Falcon shook her head as she followed after him, obviously at a much slower pace.
She slipped out the other side of the bleachers just in time to see Kid Flash get hit by a Canary Cry and go flying through the air, landing with hard thud in the middle of the bleachers. The android turned towards Falcon, and she just barely managed to roll out of the way in time to avoid the same fate as the speedster.
The android still had its eyes set on Falcon, once again accessing Captain Atom's powers. The beam came shooting her way as she darted off, panting as she dove back under the bleachers, the beam cutting through the wood above her. She stumbled momentarily before catching herself and racing back towards the other side of the gym, the android having stopped its assault on the blonde.
"Access: Superman."
Falcon ducked out from under the bleachers, eyes widening as she watched Kid Flash struggle in the android's arms, his grip continuously increasing. She quickly whipped out more throwing knives, preparing to launch them before something shot by, causing the android to access Martian Manhunter's powers again.
Kid Flash fell to the ground, quickly scrambling to his feet and darting away before he could be grabbed again. Robin threw a birdarang, Falcon doing the same but with one of her knives. The android turned to the two, "Superman," it said before two beams shot out of its eyes.
Kid Flash appeared just in time, speed tackling the two out of the way. The three landed in a heap with grunts and Falcon rubbed her head as she shimmied out from under Kid Flash. She stood up and extended her hands to the two boys, each of them accepting the offered help.
"WANNA SEE ME CHANNEL THAT ANGER?!"
Falcon glanced over as Superboy roared in anger, charging at Ivo. The speedster frowned.
"Great, he's gone ballistic again!"
Robin grinned, sharing a look with Falcon, "Maybe not."
"Amazo! Protect your master! Priority Alpha!" Ivo cried out, squealing as he stumbled down the bleachers, Superboy staring angrily after him.
Robin ran towards Ivo, who had fallen to the ground and was being lifted into the air by his monkeys, "Anyone wanna play keep-away?"
"Oh! Over here!" Falcon cried, kicking the evil professor to the side.
"Me! Me!" Kid Flash called excitedly, rushing towards Ivo.
"Superman." The android said, stomping the floor hard. The floor shook violently, a shockwave shooting through them and towards Kid Flash. Falcon jumped onto the lower levels of the bleachers to avoid it, racing across the room with Robin at her side while the speedster got caught up in the shockwave, being tossed across the room once again.
The two powerless team members slid to a halt at the end of the bleachers, launching their designated weapons. They flew through the air, the android as their target.
"Martian Manhunter."
The android density shifted, the flying projectiles sailing through him harmlessly just as Superboy landed in front of it. Turning its head, the android prepared another attack just as the clone's fist surged forward, sinking into the androids head just before it solidified once more. As soon as it regained tangibility, the android's head sparked before promptly exploding.
The body fell to the ground with a heavy thunk, rolling onto its side lifelessly. Robin darted towards the downed android, skidding to a halt next to it on the ground.
"Help me disassemble it, now!"
"Dude, the guy has no head." Falcon and Kid Flash shared a glance. She simply shrugged.
"Do not take any chances!" Aqualad called out, racing into the room with Miss Martian on his heels. The Atlantean raced to Robin's aide while the Martian flew to Superboy's side.
"Superboy, are you alright?"
"Fine," Superboy breathed out, barely sparing Miss Martian a glance as he looked between Falcon and Robin, a soft smile on his face, "Feeling the aster."
Robin glanced up from his look, a smile on his face as Falcon chuckled, leaning on Kid Flash as he threw an arm over her shoulder. The team stood in silence for a moment, the only sounds being the clanking of metal as Robin and Aqualad worked to disassemble the fallen android as they each took a moment to recuperate.
"Hey!" Falcon glanced up, meeting Kid Flash's concerned glance, "Where's Ivo?"
Gone.
Oooooof cooooursee.
MOUNT JUSTICE
Falcon yawned, covering her mouth as Aqualad gave the mission report, "The Amazo android is in pieces again, safely being analyzed at the two separate STAR Labs, but Ivo escaped, and since he originated the tech, he is arguably more dangerous than the android."
"Capturing the Professor will be a League priority."
Martian Manhunter crossed his arms over his chest, "But we understand your mission encountered other complications."
Falcon shared a look with Robin before glancing over at Superboy, who had his eyes trained forward. Nobody spoke up as Batman stepped forward.
"Complications come with the job. Your ability to handle them has impressed the League."
"The whole League?" Superboy spoke up, glancing at the Dark Knight with hope.
Batman glanced over at the clone, "Given time, yes," He nodded, "Krptonians, as you know, have very hard heads," There was a glimmer of a smile, "Of course, there's no shame in asking for help. That's why the League exists. Because there are some problems we can't handle individually."
"Please," Robin scoffed, scowling, "If we needed help, we'd never get the chance to ask!" He pulled out an arrow, one that was used to save Kid Flash's life, "Look familiar?"
Falcon crossed her arms as she watched Batman take the arrow, "It seems like you guys were following us."
"Like you don't trust us!" Kid Flash tacked on.
"We didn't follow you," Batman said calmly, handing the arrow over to Green Arrow, who pulled out his own arrow. A quick look at the two and it was obvious they weren't the same arrow.
"And... that's... not your arrow..." Robin said slowly, coming to a realization, "But that means!"
"Speedy!" Kid Flash grinned and Falcon scowled.
"He has our backs!" Aqualad commented with a smile.
"Oh not that jerk," Falcon huffed, ignoring Miss Martian's confused look. She hadn't met the hot headed archer yet.
"Come on, Flick! He's not that bad," She merely rolled her eyes, ignoring what the speedster said as he sped forward, grabbing the arrow from Green Arrow, "Souvenir~!"
"I'm ready," Falcon looked back as Superboy walked over to Black Canary.
"Good," She said back, placing a hand on his shoulder, "Because I'm here."
The older Leaguer squeezed his shoulder softly, giving him a soft smile before she walked off with the other Leaguer's disappearing into the zeta tubes. Kid Flash, Aqualad and Robin headed down the hall towards the kitchen, most likely tagging along with the speedster as he added his newest souvenir to his collection. Miss Martian had followed them as well, leaving Superboy and Falcon alone together.
"Listen," Superboy started, rubbing the back of his neck, "I'm uh... I'm sorry. For what I said... earlier."
Falcon smiled softly, stepping towards the clone. He looked confused for a moment as she threw her arms around him, and even stiffened at the initial contact before relaxing and returning the gesture, "It's fine, Superboy," She pulled away, smiling up at the clone, "Just remember, I'm always here to talk, okay?"
Superboy smiled, a true and genuine smile.
HALL HOUSEHOLD
Felicity slipped through her front door, shutting it as quietly as possible. She hoisted her duffel bag higher up on her shoulder, locking the door behind her as she stepped into the dark house. The blonde tiptoed across the main foyer, trying to stay as quiet as she could and even going as far as to avoid the one spot she knew squeaked when someone stepped on it.
She has just about passed the living room when the light flicked on, causing the girl to flinch. Felicity grimaced, a sheepish look on her face and she turned towards the person who had turned the light on.
"H-hi dad.."
Irwin didn't look amused, "Do you have any idea as to what time it is?"
"Nighttime?" Felicity shrugged.
"It's almost two in the morning!" He nearly shouted, standing up from his spot on the couch. The blonde rubbed the back of her neck as her father approached her. She racked her mind for a halfway decent excuse as to why she was home so late... but she couldn't come up with a single thing that didn't involve telling her father she was a superhero. Her dad looked at her expectantly. When it was clear she wasn't going to say anything, Irwin sighed, "Felicity, sweetie, I know it's summer time and I know you're a teenager, but this is getting ridiculous. You can't keep coming home at odd hours of the morning and not checking in with me!"
Felicity looked at the ground, digging her toe into the floor. She wished she could tell her father the truth- but he just wouldn't understand!
"I'm... I'm sorry..." Came her sullen response and she glanced up at Irwin, "I just lose track of time when I'm out with my friends. I promise I'll start checking in with you more!"
Irwin sighed once more, noting the earnestness in his daughter's eyes, "That's all I ask." He enveloped the girl in a hug, placing a quick kiss to her forehead before ushering her down the hallway, "And now we both should be off to bed."
Felicity stepped inside her room, dropping her duffel bag to the floor, "Night dad," She called out, poking her head out her door, "I love you!"
"I love you too, Felicity," Irwin chuckled, clicking off the living room light and stepping into his own room.
As the blonde closed the door behind her, Irwin shook his head, closing his own door with a soft click.
What was he going to do with that girl?
Hey guys! Long time no see, huh? Ah the perks of being a full time college student! :P
If you noticed, I kind of have a new chapter layout and I really like it! So expect it for future chapters! Disclaimer will always be at the top with the main author's note at the bottom!
I hope to start up replying to reviews in the next chapter! lol sorry for sucking.
Honestly, this is one of my least favorite episodes of Young Justice so it was kind of hard to get through, but I also kind of had fun writing it?
Just so you guys know, I'm probably going to be sticking with Wally/Felicity as the main ship/endgame but with like a side of Superboy/Felicity? It's not going to be a love triangle by any means or anything, but I'm gonna kind of play with things and I do want Superboy and Felicity to be bros irregardless of Felicity's main ship.
And thank you all for all the awesome reviews and support! It really means and lot and definitely inspires me to update more! ^^
