Chapter Eleven: Day Five
When Kaiba's door opened he didn't even bother to look up from his computer as footsteps entered his office. He waited for whoever it was to announce themselves and tell him whatever message could have waited until he was done.
His fingers slowed down when the intruder didn't say a word or try to gain his attention. After another five minutes his fingers finally stilled as his eyes traveled up...his heart thumping in his chest as his mouth fell open slightly in surprise.
"Yugi?" he questioned in astonishment as he examined the man standing in the center of his office, cobalt eyes lingering approvingly on the sculpture of his chest coming through the gray t-shirt he was wearing.
"We need to talk."
Kaiba raised both eyebrows in surprise as Yugi ONCE AGAIN threw him off guard. His smile was small as he shook his head, a deep chuckle escaping his throat before he could stop it.
"Only you Yugi, could take me off guard three times in the matter of a week."
It was no wonder why Kaiba fell for him the way he did...
His eyes were full of admiration as Yugi blushed so sweetly, the sight endearing as he cleared his throat and tried to keep his face stoic. Of course he failed, but it was cute to watch him try anyway.
"Do you think we could maybe go somewhere else to talk? Someplace less stuffy?" Yugi questioned, his eyes trailing over the walls of Kaiba's office before meeting the CEO's smoldering gaze once more.
Kaiba's stare was unwavering, causing Yugi to switch feet in discomfort, his cheeks still dusted a light pink.
Without a word the CEO stood up, brushing the wrinkles out of his white button up shirt and slacks. He shut down his computer and walked out from behind his desk, Yugi watching his every move through thick lashes.
Kaiba noticed how Yugi was looking at him; curiosity and contemplation in his wandering gaze. It didn't unsettle or concern him one bit, so he pretended to not notice the scrutiny he was under and allowed Yugi to dissect him bit by bit.
Kaiba had nothing to hide.
"I know a place. Follow me Muto," he said offhandedly, glancing down at Yugi as he walked past him.
Yugi blinked as he met Kaiba's eyes, his conflict clear in his amethyst gaze. And then the moment was gone as Kaiba kept going, Yugi following only a moment later. He nodded to his receptionist, letting her know that he was leaving.
That was why he kept her around. She was competent and he didn't even need to actually say a word to her in order for her to know what to do. Besides, Kaiba felt no need to announce his comings and goings.
He led Yugi to the elevator, pushing the button for the garage and then holding his hand up to the scanner.
"Seto Kaiba, authorized, " the machine said through the speaker before the elevator began to go down.
Yugi's eyes were wide in wonder as he looked at the scanner, leaning closer to the CEO as he did so. Kaiba remained quiet, too afraid that if he spoke Yugi would realize what he was doing and back away.
He was slowly getting used to being near Kaiba and the CEO didn't want to ruin it. If today went how he hoped then he wouldn't have to worry about scaring Yugi away for much longer. He was curious to know what Yugi was hoping to gain from seeking him out and getting him away from Kaiba Corp, so for now he was going to play along and simply sit back and wait for Yugi to make his next move.
The elevator stopped as the metal doors opened, Kaiba exiting as he made his way over to one of his many cars.
"Wow," Yugi mumbled as he took in all the expensive machinery, some of them not even released yet.
Kaiba smirked as he glanced back at the younger man, loving the way his eyes were glistening as he looked around. The CEO stopped in front of a silver R8 Spyder, unlocking the doors and mentally smiling in amusement at Yugi's wide-eyed gaze as he appraised the car in approval.
They both slid into the vehicle at the same time, settling back into the comfortable leather seats. Kaiba let the convertible top down before expertly leading the car from the hidden garage before taking off down the street.
Yugi's laughter carried through the wind as he took off his bandana, allowing the wind to do as it pleased. Kaiba drove fast as he zoomed through traffic, speeding up even more once they reached the outskirts of Domino.
Yugi's laughter increased when he took a sharp turn and fishtailed expertly, the car never once doing something that he didn't want it to do. Briefly Kaiba glanced over at Yugi, his heart nearly stopping in his chest.
Yugi's eyes were sparkling like purple jewels, his face flushed in enjoyment. When Kaiba realized how he felt for Yugi he never imagined that he would have a moment like this with him; a moment where it was just them enjoying themselves. He wished for it, dreamed of it, but actually having Yugi there with him was enough to make him smile and never want to stop driving.
There was no Kaiba Corp, no rivalry, no pressure, no judgment; just them and the freedom to let go and be themselves.
They were untouchable, the Sun shining down on them and the air sparkling with electricity.
Yugi turned to meet Kaiba's eyes, his smile wide and gaze soft. His eyes were glowing from within, Yugi's purity and internal light much too bright to be contained. A moment passed as two heartbeat fluttered, eyes shining in unspoken emotion before both men turned their attention back to the scenery.
Kaiba slowed as he turned off the main road and on compacted dirt, forced to go slow so to not kick up too much dirt. After about fifteen minutes he pulled up to his destination; an isolated two-story beach house that was painted an off-white with deep blue shutters.
Kaiba parked the car, putting the hood back up before exiting the vehicle. Yugi followed suit, his gaze in the distance where waves were gently hitting the shore, a happy light filling his eyes.
"What is this place Kaiba?" he asked as he followed the CEO into the beach house.
Kaiba looked around, pleased that the caretaker was keeping it clean for when he decided to take a break from the rest of the world and rest in peace.
"This is where I come to get away from Mokuba and Kaiba Corp. Sometimes even I need a few moments of peace," the CEO teased, glancing over his shoulder in amusement when Yugi scoffed.
They walked through the living room which was decorated with tan leather couches and giant bookshelves. Kaiba didn't want there to be much in the beach house besides the basic things. There was no TV or internet; it was a place Kaiba went to when he didn't want to be bothered by the outside world. Yugi was the best reason he's ever had for going all the way to the beach.
Kaiba led him out into the large backyard, smirking to himself at Yugi's astounded gasp. The backyard gave a perfect view of the ocean down below; the water glistening a crystal blue and the pure white sand looking like small diamonds as it glittered under the Sun's light. The wind was a little cool though it balanced out the harsh rays of the Sun, the smell of salt and flowers teasing their noses pleasantly.
Kaiba had bought his place since it was up on a grassy hill, close enough to the beach where it can be enjoyed but not so close that he had to worry about the water rising and damaging the property. Its height gave them a perfect view of the empty beach down below.
The view was breathtaking.
"Wow! Kaiba, it's beautiful," Yugi praised from beside the CEO, his voice soft and full of admiration.
The silence was comfortable as both men sat down in the grass, the wind playing with their hair as they watched the birds in the distance circling around looking for food. Kaiba closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of having Yugi willingly at his side. The feeling was indescribable, and for the first time in a long time he felt truly at peace.
They were sitting so close that their hips were almost touching, Yugi's unique scent blending in with the smell of flowers and saltwater pleasantly. Kaiba couldn't remember ever feeling so comfortable and light.
It was a strange feeling, and once upon a time not too long ago he would have denied himself these foreign emotions. He was an idiot for ever denying himself the way he had.
"Kaiba."
The CEO opened his eyes and glanced to the side. Yugi wasn't facing him, but Kaiba could still see the softness of his face and the unsteady rise and fall of his chest.
"When did this start?"
Kaiba knew exactly what it was that he was asking him. He turned the words over in his calculating mind, trying to find the best words to use so to not scare Yugi off. Right now he was confused and fighting himself causing fight or flight behavior, and Kaiba didn't want to say the wrong thing.
"The day I knew for sure what I was feeling was the day you dueled the Pharaoh and won."
Yugi gasped in surprise as he turned to meet Kaiba's gaze. "For that long?" Yugi whispered softly, his eyes searching Kaiba's face for any lies.
The CEO smiled a little bitterly, his eyes hard. "I said that was when I realized it. It began long before that."
Yugi blinked and placed a hand on his chest, taking a deep breath and then letting is out shakily. "Are you serious about me Kaiba?"
The CEO scoffed. "Like I would waste my own time," he said arrogantly.
Yugi laughed tenderly, shaking his head in amusement as he glanced at Kaiba from the corner of his eye. "You and that ego," he whispered, his tone soft and warm.
Kaiba could feel his expression soften just a tad, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "I do get carried away sometimes," he mumbled in amusement.
"Sometimes? Need I remind you of Battle City? We dueled on a freaking blimp!"
Kaiba laughed at Yugi's accusing glare, not able to help himself. He looked like an annoyed kitten and it was beyond attractive how his eyes narrowed teasingly, mirth sparkling deep within his gaze.
When he was done laughing Kaiba found Yugi watching him with a small smile, the setting Sun casting a bewitching golden glow upon him seductively. The wind blew his tri-colored hair into his face, making Kaiba frown in displeasure as the angelic face next to him became shielded from sight. With a strong and steady hand he pushed the golden locks out of Yugi's face, his fingertips brushing against his cheek tenderly as Kaiba tucked it behind his ear.
No words were spoken as gentle blue met wonder-struck amethyst, everything else fading away into the background.
And then the distance disappeared, their lips connecting softly.
Kaiba felt Yugi gasp against his lips, the contact sending shivers down both their spines. He intertwined his fingers through Yugi's hair, pressing his lips against the smaller mans passionately. The CEO didn't want Yugi to ever doubt his intent again.
He gently nipped Yugi's lower lip, causing him to open his mouth slightly in surprise. Before he could pull back Kaiba's tongue was sensually sliding against his, slow and hot as he poured all the feelings he could muster into this one kiss.
Kaiba had no idea where they would go after this but he was going to use this once in a lifetime moment to his advantage. He was going to enjoy it.
The kiss quickly became heated, Yugi responding with a ferocity that coaxed a pleased groan from the back of Kaiba's throat before he deepened the kiss, their chest's nearly flesh to flesh.
The next thing the CEO knew Yugi was on his back in the grass, Kaiba in-between his legs. The feeling of the smaller man beneath him was better than he had ever imagined. The feeling of Yugi responding to his kiss made his heart beat faster than he ever thought possible.
The moment was delicious and precious. It was a moment that regardless of what happened next the formerly frigid CEO would always cherish. He believed that he would never have the chance to be this close to Yugi and that he was too far for him to reach. Kaiba always loved being right, but for the first time he was happy to be wrong.
The kiss slowed down to tender nips and pecks before Kaiba pulled back to take in his masterpiece. Yugi's eyes were half-lidded, his pink lips swollen and tender as he gazed up at Kaiba in amazement and surprise.
He couldn't even begin to describe how he felt in that moment, seeing Yugi under him breathless and wanting, lit up by golden lights and looking at him with passion.
He couldn't help it, like the selfish, self-centered person he was Kaiba swooped in once more with gentle pecks, his eyes closed as he savored the sweet taste that was Yugi before finally pulling away. He affectionately brushed his nose against Yugi's as he took a deep breath.
"I'm hardly perfect Yugi, but I'll do my best if you'll have me," he whispered, his voice husky though soft.
He leaned back, bringing Yugi up with him so they were sitting up instead of laying down.
There eyes met once more but no words were spoken as the day faded out. In Yugi's eyes there was clarity and shock though the fear was still lurking within.
It was step in the right direction but there was still much to overcome. Kaiba refused to give up. If he had to he would fight the world to keep Yugi at his side and woe to anything that tried to separate them now.
Yugi belonged to Kaiba; Kaiba belonged to Yugi; and he would use the rest of his days proving just that to his former rival if he had to...
Up in the sky's beyond the clouds in a world unseen, crimson sparkled in happiness as they watched the scene play out down below.
"It's about time..."
