Adisa would have enjoyed the spa more if the spa attendants would stop telling her how beautiful the place was or carefully guiding her around the massive house. She only needed a guided tour for the first few days, but she now knew her way around much like she did at home.
Being so far away from her family and Loki was painful. She liked familiar and being somewhere new unsettled her. She at least had Bran, who enjoyed the place more than she did. He was always off somewhere, possibly eating berries.
She was happy though to discover that they had a large waterfall on the property so she enjoyed spending her time there. The spray from the salted water was soothing, and sitting by the water all day made her skin smooth.
There was also some sort of large fish that swam in the bottom of the falls, which would often come out when she stuck her fingers in the water. It was unlike normal fish, and instead of gently nipping at her fingers it would try to rub its scales against her.
Sometimes she got the feeling that the creature wanted her to join it, but she didn't dare. With her blindness she could see where she was going, and she more than likely wouldn't make her way back to shore. She also didn't know how to swim, she would easily drown. The very thought terrified her.
This was the same terror she felt when she woke up on her bed, Loki's hands on her face. She couldn't remember much of what happened, but she could remember the rage. How quickly it grew with in her, and how easy it was for her to say such horrible things.
He was very careful to explain what had happened, and if she heard it from anyone else she wouldn't have believed them. He had to explain to her that he and his mother thought it was best to send her away, and that they would give her a couple days to pack what little belongings she had.
Everything else would be taken care of. His mother would finish the last touches to the wedding, and Loki would see to it that their chambers would be taken care of. Adisa was unaware that there was much more than just adding her few items to their room. He was adding an entire shelf of books for her, and making sure she had many dresses to wear. He also made sure that the room would be easy for her to navigate. Adisa could only think of how they would be sharing a bed, and the idea of sharing a bed with Loki made her blush.
Adisa's ears perked when she heard the soft steps of a maid approaching. "Ms Adisa?" a woman asked stepping into the clearing. The staff often checked on her, some of them even brought her food when they figured she had been outside long enough. They were all quite kind and if she were under better circumstances she would enjoy her time.
Adisa's chest fluttered, and as quickly as she could she pushed herself off the ground running towards the woman standing in front of her. Without thinking she quickly wrapped her arms around the woman, almost bouncing on her toes with joy.
She wasn't surprised to hear a male chuckle, and feel the flesh shift in her arms because she had known the moment the woman had walked into the clearing that it was Loki. Loki loved that she always knew it was him, and how excited she would get after not seeing him for a long time.
"I'm happy you're here." She muttered pulling him closer. It had felt like forever since she had seen him last, but it actually had only been two weeks. They had an entire week left before their wedding, and Adisa was sure that it would go by painfully slow.
Loki chuckled pulling her closer to his body. He missed her so much, and even if he just had a week the impending date was weighing heavily on him. He had started to think of many things, and some of the thoughts he was having terrified him.
He had never heard of his people and an Asgardian having children, and it worried him. He didn't know if they were able to reproduce together and if they could what the effect would be. Adisa could die attempting to carry his spawn. Pressing his lips together, Loki buried his nose in her hair.
She didn't smell like her usual self, but it was still pleasant. Her hair smelt strongly of seawater, and for a moment he was lost in the thought of her hair. He hadn't even noticed that she had been chattering on about something exciting until she pulled away from him, uncomfortable with the position her back was holding.
"Are you even listening to me?" She laughed, gently pushing on him. He laughed and responded with a soft push back. Adisa smiled knowing that he hadn't heard a word she said, she could feel the stiffness in his body. Loki always over thought things, he couldn't just let things be. He always had to be one step ahead of everything.
Adisa grabbed his hands and gently tugged him towards the water fall. His hands were always cold, but she liked it. It was almost comforting to her to know, that it was always her hands that warmed his and that they were always waiting for her.
"Come see." She chimed pulling him towards the waterfall she was just sitting at. Loki was use to her phrase of 'come see', what she really meant was to come and experience something with her. As stupid as some of the things she wanted to show him were, he always took part. She always managed to surprise him, and sometimes he experienced things with Adisa that he never thought possible.
She returned to the spot she was sitting in and leaned her hand forward. Her fingers didn't hesitate as she dipped them into the water and waited for something to happen. He had seen her stick her fingers into the small ponds back home, and wait for the fish to come and nibble on them. So he didn't understand at first what was so exciting.
He didn't have to wait long to see some kind of long ferret like creature to slink out of the rocks from the bottom of the water. It slithered its way towards Adisa's fingers, flicking its black scales and flexing its jaw.
Terror gripped Loki's heart when he realised what Adisa had been playing with, and with a firm grasp he grabbed her arm just below her elbow, jerking her hand out of the water. The creature sharply turned to look at Loki opening its mouth in anger and flashing colourful lights on its skin before sinking back to the dark depths of which it came.
Loki didn't miss Adisa's cry in pain, or the way she turned her body away from him. He didn't think he actually hurt her, but he had scared her. He had never acted so rashly around her before and it was uncharacteristic of him.
"Adisa, you must be careful." He snapped, ignoring how terrified she was at that moment. He gently grabbed her face trying to calm the situation down. The last thing he ever wanted from her was to be terrified of him.
"You can't blindly go around and make friends with any creature that appears nice to you." He said firmly, his eyes catching the creature swirling around in the water. If only she knew what she was playing with. Adisa had no idea that the creature at the bottom of the pond coaxed small children into the water where it would drown them.
They were rare, and not of Asgard. So he had no idea how it ended up in the bottom of a pond at a well-known spa. Someone had purposely put that animal there, and he couldn't be entirely sure it was meant for Adisa. His gut was telling him that he was meant to find the creature playing with his wife. She was so close to death, and she didn't even realize it.
"I befriended you didn't I?" she angrily snapped, pulling her face away from his hands. She struggled to pull herself up, and angrily pushed his hands away as he tried to help her. She realized how ridiculous they must have looked. Loki was trying to help her off the ground and she was angrily batting his hands away trying to calm her down.
"Adisa, please." He called calmly walking after her; it wasn't hard for him to keep up with her. She was angrily trying to count her steps and find her way back but her impatience was sending her in the wrong direction. He tried to hold his laughter as she grew confused over the presence of a tree and tried to figure out what she was to do next.
"Adisa, my love." He called again, catching her off guard. She had never heard him call her such a thing, she was sure that the pet name was something she would only hear a handful of times in her life. She knew she would be able to count every moment he called her his love.
"Don't be angry, but you have to understand. I have made very powerful people angry, and they would do anything to hurt me. Murdering you would be the easiest way to break me." He softly whispered, pulling her gentle hands into his. He guided her body off the ground where she had only chose moments ago to sit. She had already lost herself, and had little choice but to allow Loki to guide her back to her rooms.
"That fish in the pond isn't a fish is it?" she frowned, her heart beating in her chest harshly. She didn't need a response from Loki to know she had been playing with something that worried him. It terrified her that it was so easy for her to fall into traps.
Loki sighed as he guided her towards a path that led to another garden. He didn't want to take her back to her rooms quite yet, not where women would carefully listen to every word that would be said between them. It was obvious that the women at the spa had nothing better to do then spread rumors or chatter about guests, and since Adisa was the only one there, she was the center of their attention.
"It scares me that you have made someone so angry that they would result to murder." He could hear the disappointment in her voice, he would have felt ashamed for what he had done if it hadn't been before he met her. She changed everything for him, and if she was there when he fell he doubted he would have done such horrible things. He wanted to be a better person for Adisa.
"I will fix it." He said firmly, because he truly believed he would. He was smart, and clever there was no reason he couldn't figure out a way to keep himself and Adisa safe. Loki knew it would be easy to trick, or to weasel his way out of many of their situations. He only needed his magic back. With his magic he was nearly indestructible.
"You cannot expect to fix everything with magic Loki. It didn't help you before, what makes you think it's going to work again. You can't keep running away from these things, you have to face the consequences of your actions." Her words struck him hard, and they had actually hurt him a little. Adisa was normally so gentle and to hear her speak such a way shocked him. He thought she would be supportive. His immediate reaction was to pull away from her, but she was too quick to let his arms escape from her.
"Loki. It's easy for me to tell you what you want to hear but not easy to say what you need to. I wouldn't really love you if I never challenged you to be a better person or questioned you when I thought you were making a bad decision. So please don't pull away from me." He was at a loss for words, everything inside him was telling him to break away from her, and to leave her standing in the garden. It would be easy for him to do so, but he knew she was right. If he wanted things to get better, and for things to change, he needed to change the ways he dealt with things.
"What did I ever do to deserve you?" He muttered leaning forward and capturing her lips. There was a surprised gasp from Adisa, it was the first time Loki had ever kissed her, or anyone for that matter. She could feel the heat raising to her cheeks and the way her stomach widely fluttered.
There was so much emotion between the two that neither of them really understood what was going on. Loki just knew he really had to kiss her at that moment. They would figure out things later, there was no reason to rush head on into a lot of problems they were going to have down the road. The important thing was they both knew what they were facing.
