Gríma Wormtongue P.O.V
"Events haven't gone according to your liking, talking trees destroying your home, defected Orc numbers increasing," I say to Saruman.
I love being the bearer of bad news especially since I was forced to spy on the battle of Helms Deep and then come back all the way to Isengard again. It was an awful duty, lowly duty. I am slowly starting to be treated more like his slave rather than his apprentice.
"What! Gríma there is no way that is possible, I thought I put an end to that nonsense," He replies.
"Nonsense Saruman? I saw at least a few hundred Orc's fighting alongside the men of Rohan," I counter him.
He actually looks more worried or rather that he may take them more seriously.
"Did any survive?" He replies.
"Yes, a few are with the group that are travelling here, it won't be long before they arrive. Gandalf, Aragorn and Théoden are among them," I answer him.
I am so glad my King is alive but I don't doubt he'll hate me still. That destruction I saw could not be forgiven, even if I didn't approve of it I still wasn't by his side.
"There are also two Hobbits that are with the talking tree maniac," I say, adding to the list of his woes with glee.
He promised me so much but I received so little for my service. I am still tortured with pain. With the battle organising and other duties he has yet to teach more magic. I can't stand the sight of him any longer, I leave his company.
While I am walking back and forth like a trapped beast I hear a voice calling for Saruman. Is it that maniac tree or have they finally arrived. I hesitate at the window not sure what to do.
I open the window but stay out of their eyesight, don't want to get an arrow to the eye. "Who is it? What do you wish?" I shout out of the window.
"I know that voice, and I curse the day when I first listened to it," I hear my King shout. Just as I expected, at least he is alive still.
"Go and fetch Saruman, since you have become his footman, Gríma Wormtongue!" Cried the wizard.
I slam the window in anger, I go to Saruman.
"They're here," I announce to him.
Saruman tries to use his voice to persuade my King to become allies with him, but he was not fooled. Wish I can say the same about me, I hate being here. I wish to go back to my true home but that is not possible.
He mocks the Orcs for taking the side of men, after trying unsuccessfully to get them to come back to his side as well. I need to help my king but what can I do, I am hopeless. I eye the sphere, the connection to Sauron. If Saruman doesn't have that connection it would be harmful to him.
Perhaps I should give it to them. Gandalf now is offering freedom to Saruman. I get angry at this, he of all gets to be free? Why is he offered such luxury. He has enslaved so many.
I can't hear what is being said from the visitors below or Saruman all I see is red, there is a buzzing in my ears. I will surely faint with the hated that fills me. My body shakes, FREEDOM for Saruman? How dare he.
I run to the sphere, my hand hesitates above the sphere. I quickly pick it up and throw it out to the people below. The hate subsides and I collapse sitting on the floor breathing heavily. I am glad I was able to help my King. Saruman is going to hate me for this.
Seconds passed, Waiting for the punishment from Saruman scares me.
I gasp as the door was kicked opened. "You traitor," Saruman hisses.
"It was an appalling shot I know, I missed hitting that Gandalf," I tell him.
He rushes towards me, I can't stop the shriek that escapes my lips. He starts choking me, the curses sharpened the pain throughout my whole body.
He stops then turns and looks out the door. He doesn't explain why he is leaving, but I don't care. I crawl up into a ball in pain on the floor.
I hear yelling and disturbance downstairs, they decided to attack? After a few minutes passed I notice the pain has vanished. What, I get up wondering what this means.
I leave the room, how am I going to escape?
"Come here Wormtongue?" Gandalf calls in a great booming voice.
What, is this a trick, do they plan to kill me?
"You're outnumbered, if you come willingly we won't kill you," Gandalf replies.
I don't understand, they were offering freedom to Saruman and they charge in here. I walk slowly down to where the voice of Gandalf came from.
I turn the corner, I gasp, Saruman is dead.
"I remember you clearly offering freedom to this man, what changed! What purpose do you have with me," I cry.
I start to back away a little.
Gandalf lets out a breath slowly, "Nothing's changed on my part, I was willing to give Saruman freedom but with the stubbornness of the Orc's, well in particular Vruurk," He says then stops talking to me to point to an Orc behind on the floor dead as well.
"Events didn't go according to plan ...
"Everything went according to plan Mojoka! Saruman is dead and the curses have lifted," One of the Orcs interrupts.
Curses?
"What curses?" I hiss.
"The curses that controlled our minds, Saruman was in our thoughts convincing us to do his bidding continually. TO CONTROL. Now we have our freedom of our minds, what better freedom could you imagine?! To be able to have control of you own thoughts is something not to be overrated," He says with glee, I have never heard glee from an Orc ever. The connection severing between the Orcs and Saruman is due to his death.
I cringe at this realization.
"It was Saruman all along!" I shout.
I start pacing back and forth, "That's why he never helped to get rid of the curses I thought were placed by that Nazgûl," I hiss.
"Stop pacing Gríma and explain what you mean," My King says.
I explained everything, sparing no detail. What would be the purpose of lies now? I was just explaining that I threw the connection to Sauron on purpose to give to my king, when I was interrupted.
"Can we please help Vruurk now! Can we end this non-stop chatter," Another Orc interrupts, This was from an Orc that was cleaning Vruurk's head wound. So it's not dead after all.
Vruurk's P.O.V
Freedom is the last thing that Saruman deserves, The other Orcs are in agreement. We attack.
"Vruurk, No!" Gandalf cries to me.
"NO what Mojoka, No freedom for us? To be kept as slaves with everyone else not caring. You said I had a purpose! This is it!" I cry back.
"His staff is broken," Gandalf replies.
"And that did nothing! Why do you think Zlog over there is still trying to get unbound to attack us!" I reply.
"Kurve," Zlog hisses at me then spits on the ground. Proving my point.
"What if the control works after his death?" Aragorn says.
"Then I would be furious but at least he will be dead!" I reply angrily.
"Vengeance is not making you think clearly Vruurk," Gandalf counters.
"Either kill us Orcs or open this door for us Gandalf, whose side are you on? Saruman's or the side against Saruman?" I reply.
With this announcement the other four Orc's stop trying to open the door and quickly have their weapons raised. Reluctantly I raise mine too.
Five against how many? Tactics go through my mind, if we attack Aragorn first ... I get upset. How can I go against them now. Why can't Gandalf see reason.
They raise their weapons.
"If you fight us Saruman would win Vruurk," Merry says.
"If you were telling the truth that you're not as evil as you look, you wouldn't attack us!" Pippin adds.
I never intended to harm the devious little ones.
"You're wrong Merry, Saruman has already won," I reply then drop my weapon at their feet.
"You might as well kill me like you intended from the very beginning," I say.
"Enough melodramatics, pick up your weapon Vruurk, you will need it, for when I open the door ..." Gandalf says.
He lifts his staff, white lighting escapes the staff and the door is swiftly opened ...
"Will you ever wake up? It has been so long," I hear a voice whisper.
How long I wonder, I do feel quite stiff.
I open my eyes, such beauty, where am I?
"Vruurk," The voice says.
I turn, it's Aragorn? At least I think it is.
"You're a royal? Should have known," I finally say.
He laughs then says, "Yes I am a King now, I have wed the beautiful Arwen and a lot has happened. Saruman and Sauron have been destroyed. You're in Rivendell."
"Rivendell, why? " I say then start to get up, "It's a place run by Elves," I continue. Why would they allow me in here.
"Like I said a lot has changed, you're not fully an Orc now," He says.
"What," I shout, I notice a mirror is in the corner of the room. I walk slowly over to it, worried of what I may see.
I don't understand, he is right I am not fully Orc nor am I completely elf either. More or less I look the same but not as harsh features. My ears are more elf like, not as crooked. My skin! It's like velvet chocolate without the patches of grey I use to have. What is this! I turn away in horror and face Aragorn.
"Why did this happen?" I hiss.
"We actually think it has something to do with you being what you call defects when the curses broke, this didn't happen to all Orc's," He replies.
"I am not the only one who changed? That's a relief, still would take a while to get use to it," I say, I eye myself again. I notice my hair has been braided like an elf. I notice my hair tie from Grorgbag still survived. I smile.
"So you must be hungry? Everyone has only just begun to eat, join us," He says.
I follow him to the kitchens, by us he meant Merry, Pippin, Gandalf and Gimli.
"You're up!" Merry shouts.
"Kept us waiting long enough!" Pippin adds.
"Frodo will be next any day now I am sure, take a seat lass," Gimli says.
It was the longest and most enjoyable feast I have had yet. The Hobbits were really easy to listen to, they wanted to keep me updated about all the adventures I missed. Merry's adventure with Éowyn made me glad. So she was able to kill the witch king, with the help of the devious Hobbit Merry! Théoden and Gríma died in the battle fighting alongside each other.
After all these events where told to me I am shocked about how much I missed, "It would have been amazing to be a part of all this!" I say annoyed.
"You would have been most welcome," I hear someone say behind me. I turn and notice it's Legolas.
I smile and nod at the elf, "Thank you," I say.
"Aey'ela faal meviran ilcelv, Vruurk ela lean lae filw iloanam ilcc," Legolas says this to Aragorn.
I smirk, "That's still annoying," I mutter.
The elf then sits and join us, not long passed when another Hobbit came to the kitchen out of breath.
"Mr Frodo has woken up!" He cries.
I was very fascinated by this place, it's a rare thing to find that I am welcomed here. After lengthy discussions with Frodo and the company, I decided to walk around and take in the sights which normally would have been hidden from the eyes of Orcs.
I was sitting on a bench in the rose garden when Legolas entered my view.
"I have something to show you Vruurk, follow me," He states.
I follow him, just when I was about to complain about how much further he leads me into stables.
"Tarien!" I shout. She jumps a little in joy at seeing me.
I hug her around the neck and pat her. In my enthusiasm of seeing my horse I didn't realise until much later that Legolas had left.
"You're most beautiful," I say to her.
I hear someone roughly take a breath, I turn to see who it is.
It's an Orc who has been changed. I had wondered if any stayed here.
He takes a step closer, "I don't agree, you're the most beautiful," He says.
