Title: Smurf, Hoot, Spots and Freckles
Word count: 960, after the A/N. (1,130, with the A/N and everything above it counted.)
Warning(s): Male/Male kissing? Nothing really to warn people about in this lil fic.
A/N/: So this just popped into my mind when I was remaking my bed, and was putting my three stuffies on it. I won't make a long note here. I'll just let you get to the story. But I do have to say one thing, I managed to write this in under 30 minutes! YAY FOR ME!
It all started when he was in the hospital. People sent him stuffed bears, stuffed dogs and other stuffed animals. And he loved it! He also got balloons and flowers. The flowers died far too quickly for his liking, and once the balloons started to lose their air he deflated them and saved them. He still has all the balloons saved in a box, in the back on his closet. But the stuffed animals were and still are his favorite. He has counted them many times over. And it always comes out to the same number. 42. To him, it's the perfect number. He never told anyone about the stuff animals. He didn't want anyone to make fun of him for them.
When he went to Dalton, he only took two with him. The two that he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep without. They were a stuff cat, named Smurf (because it was blue) and a stuff owl, named Hoot. During the day he hide them under his pillows. There was no way he was going to let his roommate see them. At least not yet. He was still scared when he was just starting out at Dalton. Every sound had him looking over his shoulders, and every time someone touched him he nearly jumped out of his skin. It went like that for nearly 6 months. And then just as the school year was drawing to a close, he had gotten use to the other boys around him.
The next school year he brought a couple more stuff animals with him back to Dalton. Along with Smurf and Hoot, there was Spots (a stuffed cow) and Freckles (a stuffed dog). And that year he took a bigger chance and left Hoot and Freckles out on his bed. (He wasn't ready to show off the four he had with him just yet. So Smurf and Spots were under his pillows still.)
And that school year turned out to be even better for him. He joined the Warblers, and seemed to finally have found the group that he fit in with. He couldn't be happier. And then he did become happier. He met his one true love! The one man he would spend the rest of his life with! It may have been early back then, but as soon as he had grabbed the taller male's hand, he just knew they would be together for the rest of their lives.
But school life was much different than home life. For as far as he saw it, he didn't have a home life. He was hardly ever home anyway, since starting Dalton. And he was thankful for that. He tried not to think of his home life too much, but there were days where he just couldn't get it out of his mind. How could a father have so much hate for his own son? It just didn't seem right to him. On those days, when he was done with school he would just go back to his dorm room, grabbed all four of his stuff animals and hug them tightly as he curled up on his bed. He didn't cry though. No! He wouldn't let himself cry. That man that claimed to be his father wasn't worthy of his tears.
That was how his loving boyfriend found him one day. It had been a rather hard day for the youth. And he just wanted that day to be over already. He was so out of it, he had forgotten about the coffee date they had set up. So he was a little surprised when he felt a tap on his shoulder. His eyes shot open as he sat up quickly. He blinked several times as he tried to focus his eyes on his boyfriend.
"Who are your friends?" His voice wasn't mean, rude or cruel. He really wanted to know. Carefully he reached out and cupped the tan face in his pale hands and smiled.
"I…I…They…" He couldn't find the words right then.
Slowly, as if his hands had a mind of their own, he held out the stuff animals and gave him a half smile. Carefully he reached out and took the cat.
"What's this one's name?" He looked the cat over carefully before gazing back in the honey eyes he loved.
"Her name is Smurf." His voice was soft as he stared into glazed blue eyes.
"It fits her perfectly." His voice soft and full of love. "How about you tell me the names of your other friends?"
Taking a deep breath he held up the owl. "His name is Hoot." Carefully sitting him on the pillow, he held up the cow. "Her name is Spots." The cow joined the owl as he held up the dog. "Her name is Freckles."
He couldn't believe he just shared that part of himself with someone. But this wasn't just someone. This was the love of his life!
"Do you have a stuffed dolphin?" He asked, after carefully sitting the cat with her friends.
The tan teen had to think a bit. After all, he had 38 more stuff animals back in his room in his father's home. After a couple of moments he slowly shook his head. "No. I think I have nearly every other animal, but not a dolphin. Why?"
"Well I was thinking…" The older teen said as he leaned closer. "I might get you one. But only if you tell me something."
"Of course." He pressed their lips together for a brief kiss and smiled. "What?"
"When did you start collecting them?"
"About two years ago. When I … I…"
"Forget the question." He wrapped his arms around his boyfriend and held him close. "I understand."
A/N/ 2: So if you can't tell, this is early Klaine. Like very early. I was thinking of making it longer, but the fic ended it self here. If anyone wants a follow up I'm sure I can make something. Just leave me a review or a PM!
