Chapter 10: Peter
Pain. That was the first and only thing Peter felt. He felt the pain of dusting into nothing. Now the pain carried on, to where? Peter didn't know. It was dark. He was alone. He knew it. Where he was? He didn't know. Even though it was dark and everything was silent, his senses were going haywire. Not very long, a headache formed. It felt like eternity, but eventually the pain ceased to exist. Then the memories came in…
'I'm sorry.' I'm sorry? Peter knew that Mr. Stark would beat himself for his 'death', but did he really have to say sorry. That probably made things worse. 'Darn it Parker. Can't you do anything right.' He thought. Peter, after beating himself down, looked around his surroundings. Orange. 'The soul stone?' The thought came to him.
"Hello, Peter." A voice came. Peter turned and saw two figures. One of them stepped forward. She was wearing a long gold dress. Her eyes were in rainbow coloured. Red. Orange. Yellow. Green. Blue. Purple. The colours sparkled. The orange was the brightest out of the six colours.
"Who are you?" Peter asked warily.
"I'm Infinity. One of the cosmic entities that have created the infinity stones." Infinity told him.
"But if you're a comic entity, why do you look human?" Peter narrowed his eyes at her.
"You look human but you are not." She simply stated. Peter's eye's widened. "Yes, we know who you are. But don't worry, your secret is safe with us."
Peter relaxed a little, "Why should I trust you? What do you want?"
"I could tell you, but you probably won't believe me. However you might believe her."
The second figure came forward. Peter's eyes widened at the familiar face.
"Hey bond brother."
"Abby?" Peter whispered. Eye's unbelieving.
Abby had ombré hair, starting with white at her roots that flowed into silver tips. She had snowy white wolf ears and tail. Angel wings that was as white as her ears and tail. Wearing a white sleeveless short high waist dress and grey leggings.
"Or should I say Albino?" Peter smirked and she smiled. She came up and hugged him tightly, "It's good to see you soul sister."
"Abby, please explain to Peter what happened. I have something else to do." With a curt nod, Infinity vanished.
"So… We are in the-"
"Soul stone? Ya, I know." Peter interrupted her, before slapping a hand over his mouth, muffling a "Oops, sorry."
Abby didn't look mad that he interrupted, just confused.
"What! No, no, no. Don't apologize. I'm just… confused. How did you know?"
"I really don't know. I just got a feeling and the thought came to me as if someone sent me a message saying I was in the soul stone. Then you confirmed it."
"Interesting."
Abby was in deep thought when Peter's face turned into one of confusion. They made eye contact and Peter seemed to nod at what Abby was trying to explain.
"Why did Infinity want you to explain? Why couldn't she?"
"I don't know…" She contemplated her answer. "I'm the soul stone's guardian. I guess you could put it that way." She shrugged, "That's basically why I'm here." She then furrowed her eyebrows, "But I can't answer your question. I'm sorry. But I will try and find you some answers."
Peter stared at the ground before looking around. He felt the urge to go run, an urge of running in one particular direction. Abby seemed to pick this up.
"I can't give you anymore information. That's all Infinity told me to tell you." She started to glow a bright white, it faded, "The others are calling. It was good to see you again brother."
"Like wise sis. Will I see you again?"
"Of course." With that she disappeared in the bright white light that engulfed her.
Peter turned to his left and felt the urge to run again. So without a second thought he ran off to the orange unknown.
If Peter knew that the Winter Soldier was in the direction he was running, he probably would have second guessed himself. But the urge was so strong that he didn't even think, he just… ran. The urge suddenly just left. Peter stopped abruptly and looked around. His Spidey-Sense were lightly tingling alerting him that someone was behind him.
"Hey!"
Peter turned around to see the Winter Soldier running straight at him. Startled he ran the other direction. Suddenly the urge returned and took over his body as he ran.
"Hey! Wait!"
Peter heard the call, but didn't stop. He couldn't, but he also didn't want too. So he kept running. Every time the Winter Sold- Bucky, he heard Mr. Stark call him Bucky-, every time Bucky ran faster, Peter ran just as fast, thank his Spidey-Sense.
As Peter ran, he observed that the soul Stone was shifting and changing. 'Probably to get people together faster.'
Peter saw someone in the distance, the urge became stronger and he ran towards the figure. As he came closer, he saw that it was the falcon. He decided that he would lead Bucky to him and then book it away. He followed through with his plan. As he ran away he heard Bucky call out to him but Peter was already long gone.
Peter kept leading people to their loved ones. How he knew where their loved was were? He didn't know. Just had the urge and he followed. He learned that with kids he had to confront them and show them that he was there to help. It was easy to tell which kids were from New York cause when he came towards them they would recognize him.
Peter kept helping people and aliens to their loved ones. He had reunited many families. Right now he was sprinting away from the Black Panther. - 'King T'Challa' -a small voice in his head provided. Yup, he has a voice in his head. Call him crazy but the voice was nothing but helpful. Anyways back to the topic, he was leading the king of Wakanda to where his senses told him where the Falcon- 'Sam' -and Bucky were. He bolted right passed them and watched from a distance and made sure that they saw each other before running off… again.
The next time he saw- well more like sensed – the three heroes was when he was helping a young boy who's name was Mark. Peter just earned Mark's trust when his Spidey senses started to tingle.- 'It's Sam, Bucky and T'Challa.' -The voice told him.
"Hey Mark, I'm gonna pick you up and I'll take you to your aunt. Is that okay?" Peter- well Spider-Man since he has his mask up – asked.
Mark nodded and Peter picked him up. And ran off. Soon Peter saw a woman come into view. Something told him that was Mark's aunt.
"Mark, your aunts right there okay?"
Mark turned to look at the woman and his eyes lit up.
"Thank you sir!" Mark hugs him and then called after his aunt
It's been about a week since he saw or needed to help a hero. But Peter was kept busing running around the soul stone helping many people and aliens alike. Right now he was just walking. Making his way towards a talking tree named Groot.
"Hey, I can help you get to someone you know." Peter told the young tree when he found him. Peter didn't know why but he took off his mask. Groot turned to him.
"I am Groot?" He asked.
Peter smiled, "Yes, I can. Come."
Peter reaches out his hand to Groot with a reassuring smile. After a thought Groot took his hand. Peter's
smile grew. Together, walking side-by-side, they walked through the soul stone. Peter lead Groot to the one the only Scarlet Witch.- 'Her name's Wanda.' -The voice informed. Peter stopped at a distance.
He turned to Groot, "I know she's not one of the Guardians. But you need to meet her first. I will return soon to guide you once more." Peter told Groot then added, "but I do have one request Groot. Please don't tell anyone about our meeting okay? Can you promise that?"
Peter looked at Groot waiting for an answer.
"I am Groot." He said nodding his head in agreement.
"Thank you Groot. Now go."
Groot stepped forward before turning around to ask one more question.
"I am Groot?"
Peter smiled, "The name's Peter."
Groot smiles before walking towards Wanda. Peter watches before once again bolts off.
Peter wasn't supposed to run into them so soon (I mean it's only been a few minutes!) but he guessed fate had other plans. He literally just led Bucky, Sam, and T'Challa to Groot and Wanda. He was just catching up with Abby when he felt the presence of the heroes.
"So that's why you have a connection with the soul stone. At least that's what I think." She told him.
"So your telling me that-" Peter was cut off when his Spidey senses started to go off. He turned to see the heroes behind him. "Abby I'll talk to you later. We have company."
"Okay! See ya Peter." She waved as she disappeared in a flash.
Peter turned to see that the heroes were looking at him expectantly. Peter just pointed in a random direction and when they turn to see he takes that chance to book it out of there. Right now he was gonna fulfill his promise to Groot and lead the rest of the dusted Guardians to him.
Leading Mantis and Drax to Quill was proved to be a slight challenge. Let's just say that both got very distracted very easily. Thankfully Peter managed. I mean, he's kinda needed for the rest of the book. Getting them to the rest was way easier. Seeing as Strange was already there.
"Can you please not tell them my identity? Those guys and the people your about to meet." Peter asked Strange.
"You can't keep your identity to yourself forever." Strange simply states, "and your going to have to tell them your identity when we get there."
"I won't be joining you in meeting the group." Peter took off his mask and he saw Strange give him a look.
"Then where will you be going?"
"There are still other people, other creatures, who are lost and alone. They need help. I'm the only one that can help. Just please. Don't tell them. I'll be around, we'll run into each other. I will just be helping others and not with you guys." Peter explained.
"I won't tell them. But I have a feeling they'll tell the others that your Spider-Man. Maybe not your real name." Strange warned.
"They can know I'm Spider-Man, as long as they don't know I'm Peter." Peter said putting his mask back on.
After showing them were the other heroes were he had a certain wasp and her parents to reunite.
Finding the wasp- 'Hope' -the voice told him -wasn't a problem. Neither was getting her parents- 'Hank and Janet' -together. Both of those tasks were easy and thanks to his Spidey senses he was able to sense were Hope was when ever she shrunk. After getting the three to the small group of heroes he had to leave to find a certain princess.
Unfortunately he had to lead the heroes to her so he made another form of himself. A duplicate or illusion. The illusion would go find the princess- 'Her name's Shuri' -while he stays and leads the group to her. And before you ask why he doesn't just lead one group to the other, well what's the fun in that. Also this would be easier for him later. After creating the illusion and sending him off, Peter waited for the heroes to notice him.
"Man, this is why I don't create my own illusions here. They take a lot out of me. Then again I can only do this thanks to the stone." Peter mumbled. He then spotted that Strange was making his way to him. So Peter started off. When his illusion came back to him, Peter got the memories it collected.
"Why did you make an Aladdin reference?" Peter asked rhetorically. He then saw that Shuri was close by. Peter led his group closer, making sure they could see her before running off to a broken family and a lost girl.
Peter didn't know what possessed him to show Lila his identity. He never did that to the other kids. Maybe showed his face to kids who weren't aliens or from New York but never told them his actual name! He also didn't know why he made another Aladdin reference- 'Aladdin's a good Disney movie. But even the author admits that she probably made too many of the same reference' -. Wait? What?! Peter was confused. Author?- 'Back on topic!' – Peter has led Lila to her older brother Cooper.
"Nice to meet you Cooper. The name's Peter Parker." Cooper just nodded to him. Peter gave a small smile but inside he was conflicted. 'Why do I keep telling these kids my name?' Peter was snapped out of his thoughts when they heard a scream echo through the air.
"Wait here."
Peter saw a man advancing towards a young boy. What got Peter fuming though was the fact that it was the same man that was advancing towards Lila. Peter immediately knocked him out webbing him once more before facing the young boy.
"Hey, I'm Peter Parker. I'm assuming you have siblings named Lila and Cooper?" When Peter asked this Nate nodded. Peter got up and so did Nate.
"Nate!" Both Lila and Cooper called. Peter smiled at the reunion before feeling the sad cries of a mother.
"Is there anyone else?"
"Yes, come."
Peter led the trio to the crying mother. He also promised them that he would be back before watching them run up to their mother. Smiling once again at the reunion, Peter knew it was time to reunite an ant's daughter to the wasp.
"Why'd you tell me your name? My daddy told me you kept your identity a secret." Cassie asked Peter while he led them to the Bartons.
"Cause I had a feeling you could keep a secret." Peter told her, before asking in a teasing voice, "You can keep a secret right?"
"Yup!" Cassie giggled, "I helped keep my daddy's secret so I can keep yours too!"
"Well good." Peter smiled at her innocence.
They walked and talked for awhile until they saw the family nearby. Peter have Cassie instructions before she ran off towards the family. Seeing as she got them to follow, Peter set off once more.
When Peter make a promise, he intends to keep it. Cause when he doesn't, he'll beat himself over it and try to fix it anyway possible. So here he was completing his promise to Groot. In the distance he saw a pavilion and under it was Gamora. Quill's dead girlfriend, at least that's what he picked up while battling Thanos.
"Are you a guardian?" Peter asked her. Peter waited as she looked him over. Then she realized what Peter asked.
"A guardian?" Gamora cautiously asked.
Peter nodded, "Yes, are you apart of the Guardians of the Galaxy?" He saw as her eyes slightly lit up.. "Cause if you are, then you know who Quill is? Mantis? Drax? Groot?"
Gamora stood up from where she was sitting and fully looked at him. "You know where they are?"
Peter nodded.
"Show me."
Peter led her towards the heroes. She never spoke and neither did he. When he finally spotted them, Peter stopped. He waited as Gamora made her way beside him. Pointing at the group he saw in his peripheral vision that she turned to look. Peter took that chance to get away. It was risky but thankfully he managed.
'Nonononono!" Peter was panicking. He didn't show it to the other heroes but after that earthquake like event, Peter knew something went wrong. The soul stone's broken along with the other stones, that much he knew. Something intervened with their release and the guess was that it was because the stones were used against each other.
Right now Peter was running around the stone alone making sure everyone was okay. However he felt another presence. One that wasn't there before. And that was concerning. He followed the presence. He followed to where he sensed where the newcomer is.
'But why is there a newcomer?'
Welp that's a wrap. It's a little late but here's the second last chapter. This chapter took more time than I thought. I went back to read, and reread and rereread every single chapter to get all the details I needed. Let's be honest, if any of the chapters were rushed it would be this one. Hope you enjoyed the longest chapter.
Anyway byeee!
