Chapter 11
House of Pain, 1990
He was once again looking at the runes of Mirror Room as they, he and his Aunt, had named it. He had done this many time after he had come back to his own time. He had admired the hard and somewhat dangerous work that had gone in to the runes. He remembered, how when they first think of their ritual, that they didn't want for the ritual circle to disappear. They had finally come to think of mirrors. How that had happened was a mystery, but they had and they both had liked the idea.
Flashback, House of Pain, 1937
It had been Valedros' job to brew the potions that they needed to soak the mirrors in. That had been very dangerous as both of the potions were toxics. Even one mistake and they both could die. But Valedro wasn't genius for nothing and the potions turned up perfect.
His job had been as dangerous as Valedro's. He needed to find a way to combine all the runes from different tablets. You usually weren't supposed to do that as the tablets weren't compatible, but he had found a way. When he had finally cracked it, the feeling he had gotten was addicting. Pure power had flew in his veins and he had felt invincible. Same had happen to Valedro. As for why, they may have used their Magic in the mix. If anyone had had even the tiniest clue what they were up to, those people would have forbid them and confiscated their work. Untasted combinations of runes, potions that they invented, and their very Life-forces was volatile at it best and catastrophic if out of hand. They did it anyway.
End of Flashback
Mameha sighed. It would take years until his body and Magic would be ready for the ritual. He would just concentrate on other things in the meantime. He wasn't worry about not doing well at Hogwarts. The amount of studying he had done was astronomical. Anything and everything that interested him, he had at least read a book or two about it. Had done so for years now. Mameha was sure he could take O.W.L's and N.E.W.T's and even Masteries if he wanted and still know more than most people ever would. It was the practical application of Magic that he lacked. Or more precisely, Wand Magic. Wandless and Wordless Magic was easy as breathing for him but Wand Magic… that he found hard, restricting.
But that wasn't so important now. What he had found about Valedro was. The infuriating, son of bitch had gone underground and no one, and he meant that, no one could find him. He had asked Vampire Court, some Werewolf Clans, even had tried to find his Soul-Mate inside the Veela Court but nothing. Gerald had his spies all over the world, but nothing had been found. And that in itself was telling. It meant that Valedro was waiting for him. Waiting, watching and probably laughing his ass off for his attempts to find him.
He missed more and more Valedro. Mameha remembered how little time it had taken to get use to sleeping next to Valedro. The little touches, the not so secret glances, the hugs and fleeting little kisses they had shared. All of it, he could remember and wanted more. He just knew, he would be out of control when his body would finally hit puberty. He sighed again as his heart contracted. Never again would they be separated by anyone he vowed. With final look around the room and he went to tell his Aunt, that he would miss dinner as he had some important business with Gerald at the bank and would have dinner with him there.
Gringotts, 1990
"Ah, my child, what brings you here today?" Gerald's warm voice asked as Mameha walk through the doors.
"I am pleased to see you to, Gerald." Mameha said with only sliver of frost in his voice. "I am here to claim the Lordships of my Houses of course. As I couldn't do it until my Magic was mature enough to handle the strain of the Rings will no doubt give, so now that I am about to start Hogwarts, it seemed time as any to get them." he said nearly hissing.
"Yes, I seem to remember something like this, when we last spoke before your trip to the past." Gerald mused. With tap from his long finger, a small section opened, and he took out several ring boxes.
"I took the liberty to call these Rings earlier. Even then they only just arrived here before you came." Gerald continued. Mameha just nod as he sat down on his chair.
"Now you know, that Valedro has already claimed Slytherin Lordship as well as the rest of his Lordships but what you may not know is that, Valedro left you a letter. A letter, that would be given to you when you would come and claim your Lordships. He was very demanding on it actually. So, here, the letter." Gerald said with sad and pained voice.
Mameha on the other hand was close to apocalyptic rage. Rage that soon simmered in reluctant acceptance. It wasn't Gerald's fault that Valedro was bastard. His lips formed demonic smile. When he finally would be able to talk with Valedro again… He would make sure that he knew the errant of his ways.
Silently Mameha took the letter from Gerald and without even looking it, placed the letter inside of his kimono, near his heart. Not that anyone would see it, but to him, it meant that his wayward future husband was little bit closer to him than moment ago.
"Please, tell me I don't have to keep all of these rings at my fingers all the time. Not only would it be unpractical, but it would also just screams "Rob me! Rob me!" And both of us knows what happens to the people that try that sort of thing with me." Mameha said exaggerated voice of concern.
"Of course not, my Dear. The rings can be willed to become as one or they can be willed to become a bracelet with the rings being the charms of it." Gerald answered with the same tone.
"Good. Now, which order I will be placing my rings and what fingers do they go?" Mameha asked with more politely voice.
"Frist would be the Emrys, then Le Fay. After that would come Gryffindor and Ravenclaw Lord rings. It will not matter which one will go first on these two. After that will come the Peverell Lordship Ring and then Selwyn Headship ring. Selwyn line is technically speaking older than Peverell line but Peverell's made their Lordship ring first so there you go. After these two comes the Potter Lordship ring and the Black Lordship ring. Evans family doesn't have Lordship ring as it is only few hundred years old line made up with mostly Squibs and Muggles. Your Mother was along with your Aunt were the first Magical's in the line over a hundred years." Gerald explained to Mameha.
Mameha hummed as he stood up from the chair and walked the few steps to the desk, where Gerald was waiting for him to come and take the rings.
"As for which fingers they go, middle finger of the left hand is mostly used for Lordship ring and the ring finger of your right hand is usually used for Heirship ring." Gerald continued as he took beautifully made silver thin bracelet out of it case. He indicated Mameha to give him his left hand to him, so he could wrap the bracelet on it.
He watched as Mameha took the Ermys Lordship ring from it box and looked over it. It was very simple ring. Made out of pure gold with only Celtic knot on it for decoration. Mameha slipped it on his finger and after a few seconds it shrinked to fit his finger. A new Lord for the Emrys line had been found.
Willing the Emrys Lord ring on the bracelet, Mameha took the Le Fay ring. Made of obsidian, the ring was pure black. There were no outside signs of decoration but on the inside of the ring, there was a Latin sentence, that when translated went; We are always with our Loved ones. Again it took few seconds for the ring to shrink down to fit Mamehas finger. After several millennia, the next for head for the Le Fay family had taken his place.
Moving on to the Gryffindor ring, Mameha had to fight of the sneer that threaten to take over his face. The ring was ghastly, made of pure gold and decorated with huge red diamond. Mameha quickly put the ring on and waited for over ten minutes for the ring to finally approve him and his personality. As the Gryffindor ring shrink down, he got the feeling that it only did so because of his Father had been. He had read about the Gryffindors and he was the opposite for them. He only looked after what he considered his and would sooner trough everyone under the bus than save someone because it was the "right thing to do".
Looking at the Ravenclaw's Lord ring, Mameha was surprised. He had thought, that he would find nice, elegant piece of jewelry but he was wrong. The Ravenclaw's ring was made of bone and it had some old runes carved on it. Some he recognized, some he didn't. Those that he did knew, translated to Love, Eternity and Death. There were two others, but no matter how he tried, he could not translate them. Mameha looked at Gerald with raised eyebrow but got on a shake of head back. Even Gerald didn't know these runes, so they must have been family secrets of Ravenclaws. After a few more seconds, Mameha slipped the ring on and waiting for a minute or two, it shrank down to fit snuggly on his finger.
Taking the Peverell ring next, he saw that it had been made by twisting silver and gold together. On it was small white pearl with two teeny tiny diamonds on both sides of it. Very beautiful on its simplicity. The ring shrinked down the moment it was on his finger.
Selwyn ring was made of gold too. But it had a dozen small light blue topazes on it instead of one huge stone. Very pretty piece of jewelry. He put it on and waited for a few seconds for it shrink.
With mixed feelings Mameha took the Potter ring out of its box next. The ring was made of rose gold it was already in his least favorite ring list, right after the Gryffindor one. Nothing could top that awful thing. Like sad, the ring was made of rose gold and it had three medium size white pearls on it. With a sigh, Mameha slipped it on and once again waited nearly ten minutes for the ring to finally acknowledge him as the rightful heir and Lord of the Potter line.
Taking the last ring out of its box, he looked the ring critically. Made out of black opal the ring glittered when light hit it just the right way. It also had some silver runes etched on it. A closer looked however pointed small crosses on it. Those crosses were made out of snakes. This made him smile a little. What would be better way to slap Christianity on the face than this ring. He slipped it on and felt the ring shrink immediately. Willing the last ring to appear on his bracelet with the rest of the rings he took his seat once again.
"Now wasn't this exciting little adventure. I was sure for just a second than that the Gryffindor ring and the Potter ring would reject you. But I guess, blood truly does rule in the Magical world." Gerald mused as he watched how Mameha played with his new bracelet. He smiled to the child. It had taken years for Mameha drop his masks and just be himself in his presence, but it had been worthy of the time. To be able to see this gentle, maybe even bit of a child-like side of him instead of the cold and indifferent mask he wore, made it all worthy of it.
"I believe now that we are done with the business, we should go and have nice dinner in the new restaurant, Midnight Paradise, don't you agree?" Gerald says.
"Yes. I have heard only good things about it but haven't had the time go there myself." Mameha answers as he looks at Gerald. Seeing as Gerald had stood up and was looking at him, he too stood up from the chair he had been sitting on and linked his own hand with Gerald's. Together they made quit the pair and many eyes were drawn in to them as they walked slowly through the Gringotts and then down the Diagon Alley over the Knockturn Alley, where they were lost from the crowd following them.
