Chapter XI: Your Dreams Are So Hungry

Vlad

"If I could only read this blasted book," I hissed in frustration looking at the glyphs inscribed on the papyrus pages of the ancient tome. It was like looking at alien language and resembled no tongue ever spoken in the history of man.

"You know Plasmius if it wasn't for the fact you were trying to banish me I could help you read it," Abramelin chimed in as clenched my teeth in anger. I cannot wait to exorcise this parasite from my body.

I got from the table and walked out into the balcony looking out towards Atlantic City, New Jersey where I was staying for this mission. "What are taking those idiotic vultures so long," I asked myself as I walked back into the room and stretched out my chanting, "reperio." An orb of black energy appeared showing the mansion that I sent them to. I zoomed into the interior library and saw them looking through the books.

"You shmegege does that look like a dictionary to you?" the leader squawked looking at a book a wingmen found in the room. They had books strewn across the room in an attempt to find some way to translate the book I stole.

"Don't shrayen at me, I'm 2008 years old and I can read!" the wingmen snapped as the conversation switched to all Yiddish and zoomed away from the ancient idiots to the books on the ground.

There were all types of ancient tomes and scrolls all written with the same language as the Book of Exorcisms. However there was something about one book lying in a dark corner that got my attention. It was dusty and seemed older than the rest.

"Could it be?" Abramelin asked as I raised my hand zoomed in to inspect it. Something about it drew me to it as well a power unlike anything I had ever felt in my life. "It is, the Book of Desires," the mage sad happily.

"Book of Desires?" I asked him curiously, the name sound appealing but the last time I delved into magic I ended up regretting it.

"Yes, Plasmius, the Book of Desires with it's power to make all you dreams come true," Abramelin said as I smiled thinking of what I could do with that book.

"Okay coast is clear," I said peeking out of the out of the secret passage way that lead back up from the catacomb like shelter into Zile's office.

"Good, because I want to get out of here," Connor said as I crept down the ladder to where others were waiting. I don't blame the spazz for wanting to leave the chamber we were in.

It was a dank chamber not entered by humans since the 1950s. Dust collected in every corner and a musty smell permeated the room from the mold which hung on the walls the only decoration in the drab gray room.

"Follow me," I said as I started to climb up the ladder again and opened the hatch into the office.

"So this is Zile's office?" Sam said looking at the luxurious suite that Mr. Zazic used as his office. It was a monument to his ego and wealth. Paintings decked the walls; there were facsimiles of famous works from all over the world including a copy of the Mona Lisa.

In the middle of the room was a large wooden desk with two letter Zs made of platinum on the front of it. It was made of rare zebrawood. The chair behind was also made of the rare brown and black striped wood and upholstered with silk.

"I knew Zile was rich, but like this," Tucker said as he walked behind the desk and sat down, "I bet old Vlad doesn't have these things huh Sam," he said but the Goth said nothing. "you okay Sam?" he asks seeing Sam sulk in a corner.

"Zile is jerk, I mean look at this a pencil made from purpleheart wood, it's an endangered species and he uses it for pencils?" she steams as Speed rolls his eyes.

"Look we don't have time for this, we need to get into Zazic's computer and get out," he says turning to Connor who is already hooking up Zile's hard drive to his laptop. "Did you find anything?" he asks as the redhead nods.

"You bet I have, it seems Zile has been spying on that Plasmius guy that gives Danny a rough time," he says showing me a video recording of Vlad Masters. "Talk abou…," he began to say as he heard a noise outside the doorway.

Clockwork

I frowned as stared at the book on the floor of that mansion. The Book of Desires is a powerful and dangerous artifact and if he were to get his hands on it, there would be no stopping him. The Observants told me that it was lost forever.

"Blast the Observants," I cursed as I stroked my beard and turned away from the mirror and left for my private chamber. I would need help if was to ensure that Plasmius or Abramelin would not be able to use it.

I walked into my room; it was a simple chamber with a bookshelf being the only piece of furniture. It was lined with various texts of many subjects and artifacts from bygone eras.

I looked at the various items on the shelf, religious texts; relics; tomes on mysticism and the Occult, but one item got my eye. It was an ancient crystal; it was made of Tiger's Eye Quartz and was inscribed with various symbols on it.

I took it the object from it's resting place and placed it in my hands, "I hope this works," I said as I closed my eyes and focused my energies on the crystal.

Uncle Fester

"Do you really think he did it?" Wednesday asked as we walked into the dungeon. I loved the dungeon there was nothing like the smell of rusted iron and moldy stones. The chamber was built during the Inquisition by Althalos Addams, who unfortunately was the first person to be tortured in it.

"I don't know, but the evidence is particularly condemning," he said as he smiled at the various contraptions especially a particularly nasty looking device, "Ah, the instep borer, poor Balor Addams was tortured with it in 1214 for witchcraft," he said reminiscing as he walked over to the wheels where the culprit was secured.

Lurch was standing by the crank making sure the young hooligan didn't try anything funny but honestly the sheer terror of the room. "Turn?" he asked Gomez solemnly as the youth shook his violently. Sweat was pouring down his brow and was breathing rapidly.

"What is this about anyway, if it's about sleeping in your cemetery I'm sorry," he pleaded as Mortica smiled.

"He's so sweet and has a sort dark aura around him," she said as the kid chuckled nervously, "I almost feel bad putting him on the wheels," she admitted, "can't we give him water torture instead, it's much more humane," she said as the thief nodded.

"Sorry, dear but we must be firm, Lurch give it a quarter turn to show the boy what's he's up against," Gomez said as Lurch turned the wheel.

"AHHHH," the crook screamed as his body started to be pulled apart. Tears ran down his face magnifying his electric green eyes that pleaded with the butler to stop.

"Now, we're began the questioning," Gomez said smiling as the culprit swallowed hard.

Danni

"Danny, this isn't funny anymore," I shouted through the streets of Chinatown scanning through the masses of people hoping to find my brother in this vast expanse of a city.

It is an amazing city the buildings are a mixture of Asian and modern while English signs share space with Chinese letters. I could smell spices and exotic foods in the air making me hungry.

"Maybe, I could use a snack," I said placing as hand on my stomach as it growled in hunger. "There has to be a place to get something to eat," I told myself walking around trying to find a restaurant or snack stand. "I guess it would help if I spoke…," I began to say until something caught my attention.

A few blocks away, there was an red building, it looked like it had been standing for some time. On the top of the building half lit neon sign with the symbols:

配药学

but what really made me uneasy was that it looked like a man was breaking into it. "This may not be Amity Park or the Academy but that creep will learn not to steal in Ms. Danni's neighborhood," I said as I changed into Danni Phantom and flew towards the building.

Zile Zazic

"Blasted power box," I hissed as I walked into the utility room in the basement of the academy. When I had this place designed I insisted that it uses a rare Ununbium power source. One atom of the stuff is enough to power this entire building for 1,000 years (it pays to have money and the power to use that money to buy such things).

I turned on my flashlight and looked around the room. Nothing was out of place, not even the lead suits that are used to replace the power source meaning the Ununbium core was still inside and safe. However the lock on the door was breached and the door itself was open.

"How could this have happened?" I asked myself as I walked up the ladder and looked at the delicate circuits inside checking for breaks. The circuitry was intact and the bright silver blue color of the wires meant no spikes in power were present.

I was about to walk down when I noticed the Cesium regulator was disconnected. The regulator is what transforms the Ununbium's radioactivity into electricity and this academy is the only place on Earth that uses it. Judging by the wires that were cut it was intended to only affect circuit Epsilon 1, which powers my office.

"Someone tampered with power," I said realizing what happened and walked down the ladder. I looked around for a minute trying to see if someone was hiding here but they had escaped or so I thought. I noticed that dust was disturbed on the cover to the nuclear shelter. "So they think they can get away," I

said smiling getting out my cell phone and entered a special code and sent through the academy's network to be carried out.
