"So... Wait, let me backtrack..." I cleared my throat. "Your dad somehow escaped from his little hospital, and tried to see you?"
"Well, he didn't escape, I guess they let him go..." Ellie was curled next to my side, wrenching her hands together. We were in Ellie's favorite woods, in her favorite spot. I rested my head on the grass, taking off my hat and setting it aside.
"That's weird..." I mumbled, closing my eyes.
"It is. But strangely, I feel excited," Ellie admitted. I opened one eye and saw her pluck the grass.
"Excited?" I say. Ellie nodded.
"Yeah. I mean, I saw one of my kin for the first time. You know?"
"From what I heard not even a few minutes ago, your dad's crazy," I chuckled, taking a strand of Ellie's hair from her ponytail and tugged at it like a bell. That seemed to relax my little redhead, as she wiggled a bit in delight.
My little redhead... I could get used to this. It's funny, ever since we... came out of the closet last night, it seemed that Ellie's more delicate and attractive features were more visible to me now.
Ellie Williams. A beautiful girl. My beautiful girl...
"Who knows? Maybe my dad changed." Ellie shrugged, looking up and staring into my eyes.
"..." I opened my mouth to say something, but couldn't form any words. I decided to close the distance between us by pressing her lips against my own.
It was a soft kiss, but it still sent chills down my spine. Ellie's lips felt so full and soft against my chapped ones.
I pulled away and saw the redhead grinning. So dorky.
"Your kisses are stress-relieving, I don't think I'll ever get used to your touch." The redhead said, cocking her head to the side.
"Um... Thank you?" I question, blushing slightly.
"You're welcome, Clem," Ellie curled up next to me again, her head resting on the crook of my neck. A few minutes passed on comfortably and silently; our hands intertwined together, a few pecks on the forehead... lips pressed together.
"You know, Els, I like it when you call me Clemmy," I remarked, mentioning last night. Immediately did I see Ellie's ears turn red in embarrassment. I laughed.
"That nickname is gay, though..." She mumbled, covering her cheeks with her hands. I took one of them and kissed its knuckle.
"I like the way you say it. You can just call me that when we're alone, right?" When I heard no reply, I let go of Ellie's hand and tipped her chin up. "Right, Ellie-bear?"
Ellie blushed a crimson color. "Clemmy! That's embarrassing even for you!"
"See? You have a sexy way of calling me Clemmy!" I pecked her lips, still smiling.
"Alright, but don't call me Ellie-bear..." Ellie crossed her arms together, pouting.
"Okay..." I copied Ellie's current posture, the crossed arms and the pouting. Ellie just giggled and pushed me. "You're an idiot, Clem." She muttered playfully.
"But you love me," I laughed, spreading my arms childishly.
"Damn right I do," Ellie gave me a three-second deep kiss and sat on my lap with a "hmmph."
"I could get used to this," I remarked after a few more minutes of serene silence.
"Me too..." Ellie mumbled, absentmindly tracing my jawline. I pressed her lips against mine again, wrapping my arms around her waist. I felt Ellie coo into the kiss, taking both of her hands and capturing my cheeks.
Hesitating a little, I ran my tongue through Ellie's bottom lip, asking for entrance into her oral cavity. Before I was granted entrance, though, Ellie pulled away from the kiss and panted.
"Shouldn't you think... we should start walking around?" She asked, her cheekbones tinted pink. I looked around where we were, placed my hand on the ground.
"Why should we? I'm okay right here," I locked eyes with Ellie before adding, "I don't need to be home until seven."
My girlfriend nodded as she tugged on my hood strings a little. "That's good to hear... But, you said earlier that you would want to walk around town..."
"Els, we've only sat here for about fifteen minutes. We can sit here all day if you want." I tipped the redhead's chin up to look into her green orbs some more.
Oh, how I loved those eyes. I gave Ellie a quick peck on the lips before standing up and offering her my hand.
"Let's take a walk. It's unhealthy to sit anyways." After Ellie accepted my hand and started to walk next to me, I grinned.
I kept grinning the whole way through town, even if my muscles started to strain. I don't know why I had to grin. Ellie just made me feel happy.
"Geez, I wish I could get that comic book," I heard the redhead grunt. I turned to see her looking at me and pointing at a graphic novel.
"Can I see that?" I requested before looking at the summary in the back.
BORN INTO A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, A YOUNG, TEENAGE BOY NAMED ELLIOT FIGHTS HIS WAY THROUGH AFTER LOSING HIS ONLY HOME THAT HE LIVED IN FOR YEARS. EQUIPPED WITH ONLY AN AXE AND HIS BRAINS, ELLIOT PURSUES AN ONGOING ADVENTURE HE'S SURE HE WON'T FORGET, ALSO MEETING SOME CLOSE FRIENDS ALONG THE WAY.
"So, this is new?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, and staring at the title, which said, A New World.
"Yeah. I heard it was really good, too. Damn, I should've kept that twenty-dollars..." Ellie scratched the back of her head sheepishly, her eyebrows scrunched in concentration.
Hmm. I put the graphic novel back on its respective shelf. Though I didn't tell Ellie herself, I was going to save up money and buy this for her, just to surprise her.
As we walked out of the bookstore, I noticed from the corner of my eye that Shawna passed by us, immersed in the music she was listening to. I turned my head to the right and also noticed that she was talking, whilst holding hands with a blond guy.
Shawna's cheating on Duck? What... I shook my head and walked side-by-side with Ellie through the rest of town.
I'll inform Duck about this later.
"We're here," I kissed the daydreaming redhead on the lips for a split second to get her attention. She perked up at that, then looked up and grinned that it was her house we were looking at.
"Thanks for taking me home, I had a pretty good time today." Ellie smiled genuinely then, leaning in to kiss me again. It was a very soft one, but it still managed to drive me crazy. I grinned softly when she pulled away.
"Please. You were the one that made me happy today." I chuckled a bit when I made Ellie blush and gently push me.
"It's not just you that wants to make me happy..." Ellie caught me in an embrace and whispered in my ear.
"I want to make Clementine Dallas happy, too..." With that, the redhead placed a bone-chilling kiss on my neck. Gah, why did this girl have to be so intense?
"Y... You did. You made me happy, you don't... Have to go further than that." I felt Ellie smile against my neck.
"Good," She mumbled, then pulled away. Wait! Don't go... "So... I'll see you some time during school on Monday?"
"I'll try to convince Kenny to let me stay home through church, so I can see you." This time I was the one to pull Ellie into a loving embrace. Her warmth just felt so beautiful, and... Right. It felt right. The atmosphere was perfect, no clouds in the sky, everything was awesome.
Can I say awesome? Is that the correct choice of words?
"Clemmy..." Ellie murmured in my ear. "You don't have to skip church just for me. I'm not going to be upset if you have to go listen to a sermon," She pulled away and faced me. "Just because I'm Agnostic, doesn't mean you have to be."
"I know," I nodded. "I just want to hold you again..."
"You will, Clem. You will..." She promised me, pecking my cheek with her lips. After a few moments of oh, so very comfortable silence, I murmured, "I love you so much..."
I felt Ellie tighten against me, and I knew I said the wrong thing. I cursed myself as I pursed my lips and closed my eyes.
"..." I waited for the worse, even though the girl was still in my arms.
"I love you too, Clemmy."
My eyes flew open that moment, and I looked into Ellie's eyes in bewilderment.
"Are you sure?" I asked cautiously. "You don't have to tell me that so soon."
"Well, why did you tell me this soon after we started dating?" Ellie batted her eyes at me, as if taunting me. Ooh, you don't know what I can do, Ellie Williams. I may be pretty skinny, but I can still kick ass and take names.
"Because I meant it," I answered, giving Ellie a half-smile.
She then kissed me. "That's it, Clemmy. I said those three words because I meant it. You know, we could be soul mates."
I blushed heavily at that. "Els... Isn't that a little too soon?"
"But I feel it. I literally feel it deep in my gut that we'll soon get married and adopt a bunch of kids and love each other until we're old and wrinkly..." I started laughing at that, and so did Ellie after a bit of stifling.
"You have big dreams, don't you?" I asked after laughing. When Ellie nodded without breaking eye-contact with me, I gave her a deep kiss on the lips. "That's good... Very good..."
We touched foreheads for what seemed like forever, but in reality it was only a few minutes. I opened my eyes and smiled.
"I need to go before Kenny kills me." I whisper, to which Ellie whines after I said that.
"Why does Kenny have to be so strict?" She shook her head. I tipped her chin up and kissed her gently.
"He's just worried about me," I say after pulling away. After a long hug of goodbye, I waved at my girlfriend before walking off.
Next thing on my list: Convince Kenny to let me skip church for just one time, so I can see Ellie.
I kept my head down the whole time as I walked, almost not even noticing the smoke coming from the right side of me. It was when my nostrils and throat started to burn painfully that I looked up and saw that there was, indeed, black smoke coming from the bushes. Quirking an eyebrow, I carefully walked through the bushes and went through a few trees before letting my eyes meet an inflamed house.
"What the-" I started to curse, until I heard and witnessed an explosion coming from one of the windows, which made me jump and duck for a few seconds before opening one eye and standing back up, very slowly.
Why hasn't the ambulance come yet? I pondered as I slowly crept towards the flaming house. Another crack and explosion made me yelp a little, but I still somehow came closer to the house, my fingertips soon finding the warm doorknob.
Lips pursed, I let that itching hand fall back to my side. What am I thinking? No one's in that house, it's probably just some punks wanting to entertain themselves...
I started to turn around, but that voice came back to me again.
You KNOW someone's in that house, Clementine! What are you waiting for, you wuss? Go inside and save that person! And as if on cue, I heard a woman screaming from inside the house. It was barely audible, but I could still make it out.
"Dammit..." I took off my jacket and threw it out into the gravel. "The things I do..." I slammed my shoulder into the already-weak door, and of course it broke down and burned with the fiery depths of Hell. I immediately ran inside with my eyes squinting and my throat burning. I coughed before I yelled out as loud as I could, "Can anyone hear me?!"
After a few seconds, I heard a yell back. I followed that yell for a few seconds before I yelled out again, "Let me follow your voice!"
"I'm over here! Upstairs!" The woman yelled back. I looked to my right and saw stairs, but they looked like they were going to burn down any moment now.
"Oh my..." I sighed before shaking my head. "Oh well. YOLO..." I took a step on the stairs, and immediately I heard harsh creaking.
Please God... I took another step, more harsh creaking. Please... Protect me. I need you, Jesus...
As if he heard me, the stairway never broke down into charcoal until I was off the last top step. There was a bit of crackling, before I felt something sting the nape of my neck to my forearms. There was a sound of something exploding.
I sighed and took off my hat to wipe off the sweat that was enlarging all over my face.
Thank you, Jesus...
I turned around and made a run for it, almost running into, but jumping over gaps, and almost getting burned to death by a bunch of falling walls.
Then I saw... Her. That lady that yelled for my help, laid dead beneath my feet as I entered what used to be, her bedroom.
"Oh no..." I whimpered, almost falling to my knees. "I couldn't make it. I'm... So, so sorry..."
Then I heard a cry. I perked up and looked towards the closet where the cry could have came from. I kicked the door until the power of my kicks left a hole in it.
And I don't know how, or why, but like a desperate idiot, I punched at the hole until I saw a little boy, clad in his pajamas. His pale, innocent face was swollen from crying so much.
"Come here!" I yelled through the cackle of the Devil himself. "The hole's big enough for you to crawl through!"
The boy obliged to my order, and I scooped him up in my arms as soon as I caught him. I covered his face with my baseball cap to keep his face from burning in the debris, whilst holding his head with one hand while holding his lower body with my other.
And I ran. And ran. And ran.
And ran some more.
I kept running.
I coughed through the smoke as I started to feel tired. But I kept trekking on, with that dead woman's son in my arms.
I will prevail your son...
All thoughts ran short when I felt something jarring my back. I screamed at the burning pain as I threw the young boy before I hit the ground. It hurt like no other, it literally felt like Hell.
Through the agony, I saw the boy just standing there. "Go!" I threw my arm in the air. "Go without me! Your life is more important!"
"No!" He shook his head, and jut his little arms out to grab my burning hands. He pulled as hard as he could, while I helped him; and with slim success I was freed from the agony I was in.
I didn't look back, though. I looked down on the boy and scooped him up in my arms again, running as fast as the speed of light before finding a window and jumping through it. I ducked my head down and closed my eyes tightly as the glass shattered all around us, I felt a few stings on my face, but I didn't give a flying fuck about what was going on with me. All my worries were on the little boy.
I felt cold air, and soon I landed on my back on gravel. Because of the pain my back was already in, I screamed painfully with the boy still in my arms.
"Sir, look! There's a little girl with a little boy!" A nearby man yelled out. I scowled slightly at the fact that he called me a little girl, but everything I felt quickly faded when I started to feel sleepy.
Just a little nap won't hurt... I thought throughout the commotion and the little boy being taken from my arms. Darkness soon overtook me, and I welcomed it with pleasure.
Psst, hey you! Yes you! It's almost midnight, and it's kind of cloudy... What the heck am I doing with my life.
