Hey Guys, here is your long awaited chapter, this is my longest chapter so please enjoy.
Chapter 11: The very first day
September 1, 2018-
I did my usual morning routine and by nine, the whole house was awake. Everyone was getting ready to leave for the train station. At ten, all of us had left the house for King's Cross Station. It was 10:30 when we all reached the train station. Mrs. Weasley led all of us to Platform 9 ¾. Apparently muggles can't see anything magical because when Rose ran into a wall between platform 9 and 10, no one seemed to notice. It was actually funny how the entire situation was; I was actually nerve-wracked a bit by the whole idea of running into a wall, literally. But when I reached the other side, I couldn't describe the feeling I had. On top of the wall that I just ran into was a hanging sign with a 9 ¾, Hogwarts Express. Everywhere were children, parents, and even some pets. The train was a mahogany red, polished to its grandeur. Children were already boarding the train. By the time everyone was across to the platform, Rose was lost somewhere in the crowd. The Weasleys all scurried their way to the nearest train door, the rest of us followed quietly. At the door, everyone bid his or her farewells. I hugged Jo-Anne, Carrie, Jeremy, and Gobby. Later, everyone else hugged me. Fern was supposed to meet us at the platform but I couldn't find her. After my birthday, Fern returned home and met us frequently later on. Now that I think about it, I don't know much about Fern asides from her passion for fashion and her tendency to say impolite words. But it doesn't matter to me, its her personal life, she'll tell me when she wants to. Rose, Ronnie, Mionly, Andrew, and me got into the train, loading our luggage along with us. The train was about to leave, so saying our last farewells; we progressed into the train and tried to find an empty car. After 5 minutes of searching around, we finally found an unoccupied cabin. After getting settled, I remembered that Lily also had brothers going to Hogwarts.
"Hey, doesn't Lily also have brothers going to Hogwarts?" I asked.
"Yeah, we haven't told you about them yet, sorry." Said Rose.
"Lily has two brothers, James and Albus, both of them are in Gryffindor. James is in his fourth year and Albus is in his second." Explained Mionly.
"Oh."
There was running outside the cabin and suddenly the door opened. Fern's face poked through the gap by the door.
"There you are! I've looking for you guys for 15 minutes!" She exclaimed. Shoving through the door, she came and sat next to me. "Sorry I took long, so what's up?"
"Nothing much, I'm just glad I'm away from Mom now, she was fussing so much, I can finally have room to breathe." Said Ronnie.
"You shouldn't say that, I personally think its sweet." I said. And what does he mean by away from Mom?
"I know what you mean Ronnie. I'm also glad I got rid of my dad; he's pretty defensive and attached to me, exactly like glue or something." Said Fern.
Should they be saying this? Their parents are… "You guys really shouldn't be saying that."
"Why? Its not like they're hearing us." Asked Ronnie.
Are they kidding me? "Of course they can. They're right there." I pointed towards the open door; the adults suddenly wore a surprised expression. Ronnie and Fern looked around the car, looking confused.
"Okay, we'll play along. Hi, Dad! Followed me from the train station?" asked Fern, waving at empty space.
"I'm not kidding, can't you see them." Five shakes of the heads only confirmed my suspicion. "Mrs. Weasley, why won't you say something?" Mrs. Weasley looked at the other parents and nervously took off the cape she was wearing. Along with her, Mr. Weasley, and Ginny also took off their capes. Everyone jumped from surprise; Fern had a hand on her chest with a huff. Why are they so surprised? The parents all gave me looks that were mixed with shock, worry, and surprise while everyone else interrogated them.
"How did you know?" asked Mr. Weasley.
"What is there to know; I saw you." I replied. The parents all looked at each other, and back at me.
"Are all the parents on the Hogwarts Express?" asked Fern.
"No, only the supervisors." Replied Ginny. She saw our faces of questions. "We'll explain everything later." And with that, the three parents left. After that, we didn't see even another glance of them.
-Somewhere in the Hogwarts Express-
"How did she see us Hermione!" Asked Ron.
"I don't know!" She exclaimed.
"Well then find out!"
"I'm trying!"
"I can't believe she saw us even though we had invisibility cloaks on." Stated Ginny.
"Did she use the Homenum Revelio charm?" Asked Ron.
"Couldn't be, she didn't say an incantation and to top it off, that charm is way to difficult for her to learn and it can only detect presences, not show who they are. Even a prodigy wouldn't be able to do it." Explained Hermione.
"Then how?"
"I'm going to have to research about this. Ginny, you should go and inform that husband of yours, it seems like this year is going to be special." Said Hermione.
-Train Car 2, Cabin 4-
"We should get ready, guys. We'll be reaching soon." Said Rose. With that, all of us went to get ready in our uniforms. Then for the rest of the ride, we all had some treats that a kind woman sold to us from a trolley. The train stopped at 4:30 in the evening. We've reached Hogwarts. Getting off the train, we were met with a crowd of students.
"This way everyone! This way!" Called a voice. A very big man came to view. He had a big, thick, long beard streaked with gray. He seemed about 11 1/2 ft. tall, being as wide also. We approached the man.
"Hi Hagrid! Everyone, this is Hagrid. Hagrid is the Keeper of Keys and Grounds." Explained Rose.
"Why it's a pleasure t' see you 'gain Rose. Would you guys perhaps be first years?" He asked. We nodded politely and he gave a kind smile. "Well alrighty then, let's get a move on!" He started marching away, and every student followed. For the next 15 minutes, we traveled to the school; first we walked a bit, and then later crossed the lake surrounding the school, by boats. Scratch that, not school, castle. It was amazing! It was exactly like one of those fairytale castles in Disney stories. I was awestruck; the castle rose high, encircled by towers and magically lit windows. As we reached the school, chatter could be heard from every student, excitement filled the air more than oxygen. Hagrid opens the gates, and inside was a majestic interior. The walls looked ancient but not old, the hall itself was worn but mystical. It reminded me of the books I've read in the past few days, it fragranced of magic. We traveled through a hall and a flight of stairs until we reached another set of grand doors. "Alright, listen up! Behind these doors is the Great Hall; this is where we have our meals. You guys will get sorted into your houses when we get inside. All right?" A few of us nodded, some of us simply said yes. " 'Kay then. Let's go in." Hagrid opened the doors and proceeded in. The hall was beautiful, the ceiling looked like the night sky and there were candles lit in mid air. There were five immensely long tables spaced evenly in the hall, at the far end was a higher table where adults were sitting at. As Hagrid lead us to the front of the hall, students from all the tables whispered sincerely. I even saw Rose among a group of friends, which I'd assume was at the Ravenclaw's table. When she saw us, she waved and flashed a thumb up. Hagrid stopped in front of a pedestal and waited there. As soon as he did, a young beautiful woman came towards us. She had dirty blond hair with grey eyes, which seemed distant.
"Welcome first year students! I'm Luna Lovegood, the professor of Herbology. It is my pleasure to help sort you all into your houses. As I announce your name, please come forward and sit on this stool. As you do, I will place this hat upon you and your house will be determined." The hat was made of brown leather and the point of the witch hat was gracefully bent downwards, a feather balanced on its side. "Now lets begin. Robin Adam… Julian Alfrez…" The woman kept on going down the list of students. Soon enough, she reached the H section of the list. "Andrew Heinz."
Andrew walked towards the stool and sat, Ms. Lovegood placed the hat on his head. It barely touched his head and it declared Andrew in No House, as the male honor student. Whispers were echoed down the hall and to my surprise there was no other noise. No cheers, "welcomes", or even "good lucks". Not even from the No House table, just stoic faces. In fact, no sound was heard from the No House table at all the entire time. When everyone else cheered for the new students in their own houses, No House was silent, like the solemn mood at a funeral. I tried to put it at the back of my mind and attempted to focus at the sorting ceremony. Before I knew it, my name was called. I walked toward the stool and sat on it. Ms. Lovegood placed the hat on my head. Instantly, the hat came to life.
"Oh! Now what do we have here hm? A child of great but dead parents?" I felt a flicker of anger in my heart. "Where should you be placed? This is very indeed difficult to determine. One side would be your bravery and knowledge while the other would be the spirit's evil. Gryffindor or Slytherin? Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff?"
"Wait. You know about her. How?" I whispered. How could this hat know about Aaroline? Then the thought hit me. Mom.
"That is correct. I know your family well as I know this school well."
You can read my thoughts! As a reply, the hat made my head nod.
"I know your family, destiny, life, which is why I ask you, which house would you prefer?" asked the hat.
You are more experienced at this question, you may choose for me.
The hat laughed out loud and declared "Honor Student of No House!"
It was nice meeting you Mr. hat and I would have loved to talked some more but obviously right now is not a good time. Next time we meet, I'd appreciate it if you were prepared with some answers. Good-bye then.
"I will wait for the day Missariene Marol, daughter of Helen and Trion."
After a while, Fern was called up and got placed in No House. She grinned widely and shrieked a tiny bit, eagerly coming to sit next to me at the No House table. Later on, even Mionly and Ronnie were placed in No House. This cannot be a coincidence. After the ceremony was over, a young man about in his late 30's walked towards the owl shaped podium in the middle of the pedestal.
"Welcome students to a new year at Hogwarts."
I've seen him before, who was he again?
"I am going to inform a few changes this year."
Hmm… Headmaster Harry Potter!
"This year, Hogwarts if hosting a tournament, the Four Lions challenge. I have made a bet with the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic that Hogwarts will prove it's more talented than their school." The entire school busted into chatter. "Quiet down now! As I was saying, the tournament consists of four stages, the Quidditch stage, the exam stage, the dueling stage, and the animal control stage. The Quidditch stage is a game between a team representing the Beauxbatons and a team representing Hogwarts. To determine which team plays for us, there will be games between all the houses, the house that wins the most games will ultimately take part in the tournament as Hogwarts' Quidditch team. The first House match will be in a month, till then, I'd advise you all to prepare for it." Mr. Potter paused and let the information sink in for everyone. Then he continued. "Along with that, there are a few restrictions I'd like to remind everyone of. Like every year, the forbidden forest is forbidden. I trust no one would like to die this year. The dungeons are also off limits. With that, we have officially finished formalities, and you all may now dig in." He waved his hands dramatically, and then food appeared on the tables. Just like that, POOF! Magic… Everyone started to fill his or her mouths and plates with delectable food. Especially Fern.
"Doesn't the tournament sound exciting? Though I wonder what Potter bet with for it?" asked Fern.
"No one knows what Uncle Harry thinks of, for all we know, he could've used the school to bet with." Stated Ronnie. That's when I started choking.
"-Cough- Uncle –Cough-Cough- Harry!" I rasped.
"Yeah, Harry Potter is my uncle. Lily's dad, Aunt Ginny's husband, Hogwarts' Headmaster, Harry Potter." Replied Ronnie, making me blush a tiny bit out of embarrassment.
The surprises just keep on coming.
After dinner, Mr. Potter said a few other notices such as when the Quidditch try-outs begin and about our schedules, etc. When he finished, we were all guided towards our House dorms. We went up a flight of stairs, which moved ever so occasionally. When our guide stopped in front of a human-sized portrait of a pretty girl, I didn't know what to think. The girl in the portrait moved! She looked at us and asked for the passcode. Our guide muttered something and the portrait swung open, revealing a hidden passageway. Inside, was the No House's common room. Our guide told us the girls' dorm was at the right staircase and the boys' dorm was at the left one. And with that, he left us to wander the room. Andrew left to go to his room and so did Ronnie. We had nothing to do in the Common Room, so Mionly, Fern, and me also left to go to our rooms. All three of us shared one room, which we were happy about. For the rest of the time, I read a book, and talked to the girls at the same time. Highness wasn't in my room, so I got worried. She may have grown in the past two weeks, but she was still a baby dragon. I opened the window of the room and blew my whistle. I waited, and waited, and waited, until I could hear light flapping of wings. A small, white figure was coming towards the window. Highness landed clumsily on the window ledge. There was a letter in between her mouth. I took the letter and looked at its contents.
"She has grown well. I hope the whistle is of some use. I wish you well for your day tomorrow. Good bye."
Who are you? I looked at the letter and then at the back. At the bottom right corner, there was a signature. Cerberus. I took a piece of paper and started to write. Dear Cerberus, I don't seem to know you, but I would love to. I feel as if you are a long lost friend that I never knew I had. I want to believe I'm right. Am I? My only question is how do you know me? If you can't answer that than at least tell me if I can trust you. Because I could use a friend like you, someone I can tell everything. I don't usually trust people that easily but I have a strong feeling that I can trust you. Prove me right. If you do, I won't hesitate telling you everything about my life. And if you do know me Cerberus, then you know I mean everything I say, whether it's on paper or through verbal use. Good night. Missariene. I folded the paper and put it in an envelope, handed it to Highness, and Highness took off with the parchment in her mouth.
Till tomorrow then…
