Hey! Sorry to keep you waiting! Here's the next chapter!
Annabeth's POV
Annabeth closed her eyes for the fiftieth time, hoping to sleep. But she couldn't.
She looked around her cabin. All of her friends were asleep. And everything seemed all right. Everything was in the right place.
And still, she had a feeling in her gut. Like someone was telling her: 'Be on your guard'. And so, she looked around a last time. She wanted to sleep!
And then, she caught a glimpse of a glint. She turned her head round and tried to find it. She couldn't believe what it was.
A nylon string.
Completely forgetting about sleep, she stood up and tested it. It was much more resistant than it looked. She thought it could resist her weight. Then she followed it. It passed through every room in the cabin.
'What is this thing doing here? And why?' she thought to herself.
Then it hit her like a hammer.
'Connor and Travis' she remembered. It was her cabin's turn to be tricked in the night.
But she would stop this! She had to defend her cabin! But she had to do it alone.
She put on a coat; it was windy outside. She took out her Pokedex and Pokeballs, and released Piplup and Eevee. Luckily the flash didn't wake anyone up, except a girl who stood up, mumbled something and went back to sleep.
She then took her New Yankees cap, and, as a last resort, her dagger. She remembered Athena giving her the dagger as a token of thanks. Her cap worked now. She put everything except for her Pokeballs in a backpack.
'Ready?' she whispered to her Pokemon. Luckily they understood they had to be quiet, because Eevee nodded and Piplup's eyes shined with excitement.
'Let's go then!' And they quietly scurried outside.
The wind was blowing strongly, even though it was middle spring. The trees' branches looked ready to fall off at any moment, and the wind obscured vision. Plus, flying leaves made it even more difficult to see.
'Just how those two would want it.' she thought. It was a clever strategy. No one wanted to go outside to investigate because of the cold, and if something fell down people would probably assume it was just a branch or a rock (the wind was that strong).
It was a miracle she kept track of the string. It twisted between trees and paths, and it was confusing to follow. Finally, she arrived where the twins were. She hid behind a large rock, and her Pokemon did the same (just in case). She put on her cap, and she faded. Her Pokemon's looks were confused, but when she touched them (and Piplup nearly had a heart attack) they knew what had happened.
Then she heard talking.
'They are going to have such a suprise!' said one of them.
'Yeah, there are going to be wet... literally. Ha ha ha! Good plan, Connor!'
Did they really have to shout that loud? She decided to forget that; even though Connor and Travis were sons of Hermes, they were as stealthy as an elephant.
She looked at her surroundings. It was filled with trees and rocks; if she lost them, it was over. The wind was blowing stronger than ever; it was a miracle her cap hadn't flown away.
Then she looked at the strange mechanism that was behind them. The nylon string was connected to a sort of propulsor? She had no idea. And that was her flaw in her plan.
'HEY, IDIOTS!' she shouted. Connor and Travis both jumped in surprise, but quickly recovered.
'Who's there?' Connor asked.
Annabeth sighed. These two were stupid. They really didn't recognize her by sound?
She took her hat off and stared at them like a mother to a kid that has broken her china.
Connor's terrified expression changed into a grin. 'Oh, it's only you.'
Travis also grinned. It was hard to tell which was which. 'Well, sadly, the grand Annabeth Chase WON'T be able to stop us. Right, Connor?'
'Right.' Their eyes gleamed like tigers about to eat prey, and Annabeth knew this was going to be a short conversation if she didn't do something.
That left for her usual tactics: talk, trick and delay until she knew enough.
'Well, thanks for that little speech, but YOU won't be able to stop me.' she responded. Her eyes were gleaming in challenge, while keeping an angry face. 'So! First question in the test; what is this machine?'
Travis nudged the thingy. 'This? This is a I-don't-know-it's-name-but-it's-very-cool machine. Long story short, this has been programmed to propel the buckets of water along the nylon string into your cabin and then turn them around and drop the water in your face!'
'Uhhh... What buckets?' she asked, trying to contain the fear in her mind.
'Here!' Travis dramatically gestured to a file of buckets filled with water. Each of them were as big as a bin of the cabin. 'One for each. But only for you, Annabeth, you will get two giant buckets!'
'I think I'd prefer a shower, thank you very much.' she responded, trying to ignore the evil-smiling faces. 'And, where did you get this machine?'
'An Hephaestus kid made it for us. We hipnotized him.' Annabeth was shocked. He said it so casually... 'As for the string, it's a present from our father.'
'Well... Piplup, Eevee, go!'
While talking, Annabeth was reaching for her Pokeballs.
'Oh, so you want a battle, huh! Well, I don't say no! Duskull, go!' said Connor.
'Gastly!' shouted Travis.
The first thing she thought when she saw their Pokemon: 'They have the same personality as them.'
One was a black, spherical Pokémon surrounded by a purple toxic gas. It had a wide, pink mouth with two visible fangs. Its eyes seemed to extend past its round body, visible eyelids surrounded them.
Her Pokedex said it was Pokemon 92.
Gastly
Gas Pokemon
Born from gases, anyone would faint if engulfed by its gaseous body, which contains poison.
The other one's body was a black robe with two bones on its back. It had a mask that resembled a skull and had a single eye that floated between the eye sockets. Resuming, it looked like a mini Grim Reaper.
Scanning it, her Pokedex said it was Pokemon 355.
Duskull
Requiem Pokemon
It loves the crying of children. It startles bad kids by passing through walls and making them cry.
'That's not very nice!' she thought.
'Well! We're ready! Let's see if you are able to stop us!'
Annabeth's Eevee and Piplup VS Connor's Duskull and Travis' Gastly
'Normal-type attacks won't work against them! This is going to be tough...' Annabeth thought. But she was sure she was forgetting something... Of course, she couldn't reach it.
'Let's start! Gastly, Lick!'
Gastly let out it's tongue (slimy, disgusting and bigger than Gastly itself) and Annabeth realized one thing; they didn't want to be touched.
'Dodge!'
'No! Duskull, Astonish!'
As her Pokemon tried to jump out of the way, Duskull appeared out of nowhere, scaring Piplup out of it's wits and leaving it paralyzed with fear. Gastly licked Piplup the same way Percy licked ice creams, and Piplup was so scared it fainted. Not really fainted, just momentary. Piplup would recover in minutes. The bad thing: she wasn't sure she had minutes.
'Two versus one. This' going to be easy.' smirked Travis.
'Gastly, Night Shade!'
'Duskull, you too!'
Twin streaks of ghostly shades quickly approached Eevee, who dodged them. They continued attacking, relentlesssly, and he dodged all of their attacks.
'Stop moving around! Gastly, Hypnosis!'
Blue waves emerged from Gastly's glowing red eyes. Annabeth thought: 'Well, at least I have a solution for insomnia.' as she stiffed a yawn.
For Eevee it was much worse. At first it easily dodged them (they weren't very accurate) but then one hit him. Eevee swayed and tottered, and collapsed to the ground, snoring.
'Well, the end. We'll just defeat your Pokemon and make you sleep.' Connor said.
'Gastly, Shadow Sneak!'
'Duskull, you too!'
Beams of shadow approached Eevee fast, and Annabeth thought: 'I've failed.'
But when the beams connected (creating an explosion by the way) she expected Eevee to be covered in dirt and wounded. She didn't expect it to be waken up, completely unharmed except from the explosion that still ringed her eardrums.
And she remebered.
Just as Normal-type moves didn't affect Ghost-types, the same was in viceversa.
Connor and Travis panicked.
'Do you have any move that damages and isn't Ghost-type?' asked Connor.
'No... wait, yes! Gastly, Sucker Punch!'
'How can a blob punch?' Annabeth thought.
With amazing speed, Gastly attempted to ram Eevee, covered in darkness.
'BubbleBeam!'
An army of fairly quick bubbles slammed into Gastly with such force that it stopped the attack. It quickly retreated, disappearing.
'Damn, they are Ghost-types! They can become invisible!' she thought.
She turned around and saw Piplup standing proud. Apparently the explosión had woken Piplup up as well, and she ordered the BubbleBeam.
'If close combat doesn't work... then attack and hide will!'
'Water Gun!'
A small torrent of water splashed into Duskull. It quickly dissapeared.
After that it was more or less like this: Duskull or Gastly would appear, shoot an attack and retreat before her Pokemon could hit them. Occasionally they would create a distraction so the other one could attack.
Annabeth knew it was about tiring her Pokemon, and it was working. They were exhausting themselves. She needed to think of something! And then, she remembered.
'Piplup, jump into the big water bucket!'
'Don't let Piplup do that, Gastly! Lick!'
Gastly, tongue hanging out, approached Piplup, grinning.
'Eevee, intercept and Bite!'
Gastly's grin melted. Too late, it tried to change direction.
Eevee, teeth glowing with a dark aura, chomped down on Gastly, and threw it to the floor. But it hadn't fainted.
'Piplup, Whirlpool!' Her secret weapon.
Piplup started to spin and spin and spin and spin, creating a Whirlpool. Normally, it would have been quite small, because Piplup created the water, but then, the whirlpool started to absorb all of the water of the giant bucket and all of the water of the buckets, becoming bigger than a tree.
Piplup suddenly came out of the whirlpool, somehow grabbed it and, with fury, hurled it at Connor, Travis and the Pokemon.
'Crud.'
A water explosion shook the entire place and Annabeth held her breath as she was engulfed in water. After what seemed like an hour, but was ten seconds, the water parted, quickly draining into the earth.
She looked at the effects. Piplup was talking with Eevee as if bragging, with Eevee sighing. Duskull and Gastly had both fainted (obviously) and Connor and Travis had passed out.
'You mess with me, you see what you get.' she said as she walked to her cabin with Eevee and Piplup to take a shower.
Finally, Chapter 11 COMPLETED! Thank you very much for all the support, with 19 favourites! I'm sorry I can't update sooner.
You see Gastly using move it usually can't learn by any means (respectively, Shadow Sneak for Gastly). That's because I think some Pokemon should learn moves they can't learn. If you've got a suggestion for a move for a Pokemon, or a suggestion for a Pokemon to someone; do it! Please review!
