I Do Not Own Shugo Chara!
"Akiko-chan, what's wrong?!" Kokoro frets, flying up and down in worry.
"I… Wedding… Dream…" Akiko takes a deep breath, regaining her composure.
"I had a dream, and it was Ikuto and Amu's wedding. I showed up late, and Eito had a girlfriend. Er, fiancée."
"Oh, that's terrible!" Kokoro shrieks.
"If Eito and you don't end up together…. Ahhh, Efude!" Shiori cries, floating downwards.
"Continuing, Eito was standing outside in my dream. He said…. He said 'iMinami's nice, and all, but… I don't want to marry her./i' Then Nagihiko came out and Eito said he wished I was still there. Then an older me showed up, and Eito was all like 'What the hell?!' and then they all went in, and Eito introduced Minami and I, and it was terrible!"
Akiko's breathing has fastened, and she falls back on her bed.
"Akiko-chan, you don't look well," Kokoro sighs. She floats up, laying her small hand on Akiko's forehead. "Gosh, you're burning up!"
Akiko shivers, pulling her covers up. The sun's soft glow fills her room as it rises, the sky turning shades of orange and pink. Her mother comes in Akiko's room, sighing.
"Akiko, let's go! You're going to be late for school!" she mutters, standing at the foot of Akiko's bed.
"I don't feel well…," Akiko mumbles. Her mother walks over, laying her hand on Akiko's forehead.
"Mmm… you're running a fever. I'll call the school and let them know you won't be there today. Who do you want to bring your homework?"
Akiko thinks for a moment. "Kawamata Eito."
Her mother nods and walks out of her daughter's room, closing the door softly behind herself.
Groaning, Akiko lets her body fall backwards, pulling the covers above her head. About 10 minutes later, Akiko's mother enters Akiko's room again.
"Akiko-chan, take this. It might help you feel better." The black-haired woman hands a pill to her daughter, smiling softly.
Akiko looks at it for a moment, then pops it into her mouth, washing it down with a gulp of water. Mrs. Kawakami smiled, then left Akiko's room once again.
Akiko sighs, a long, deep, exasperated sigh. She falls asleep after a while, her chest rising and falling in the soft glow of the sun. Akiko's day consists of sleeping, and almost only sleeping. She wakes up for small periods of time, but falls asleep again.
About half an hour before school would be let out, Akiko finds herself awake.
iCrap… if Eito's coming over to drop my homework off, I can't be looking homeless!/i she thinks.
She slowly gets up from her bed, walking around her room to grab a few things. She grabs her hair brush, clean pajamas, and her slippers. She changes from a ratty, old, torn t-shirt and ugly sweat-pants, to a purple tank-top, and blue plaid pajama pants.
Akiko brushes out her long, red-brown hair, falling to just past her shoulder blades. She crams her feet in her slippers, standing before her mirror. She hears a knock at her door, and the door opening. A few mumbles Akiko can't make out, and….
"Akiko! Eito's here!" her mother calls.
Akiko waits a moment, then exits her room, bounding down the stairs. As she hits the landing, her mom walks away.
"Well, you don't look sick," Eito laughs.
"Yeah. My mom gave me some miracle medicine this morning," Akiko replies, smiling. She brushes her hair over her shoulder, gazing at her friend.
"So, I uh, I brought your homework for you…"
"Oh, yeah, thanks."
"Do think you'll need any help?"
Akiko leafs through the papers, glancing at a few. She selects a math paper, holding it up.
"Did he go over this today?" she ponders, referring to their math teacher.
"Oh, yeah… I'll stay and help you if you want," Eito offers.
"I think I'm gonna need help."
"Yeah, mental help!"
"Shut up, turd!"
"No!"
Akiko beams at her friend, and punches him in the arm.
The Ace and Rook walk to Akiko's room, sitting on her bed. Eito helps her with almost all her homework, and they're both laughing and joking and having fun.
"So….. uh…. I had this dream, where…," Eito starts, after they finish Akiko's homework.
"Where what?"
"Well… it was Ikuto and Amu's wedding…."
"What?! I had a dream like that, too."
"What happened in your dream?"
"Well… You stepped outside for a moment, during the reception. And you said something about… Your fiancée was nice, but you didn't want to marry her…. Then Nagi came out and you guys were talking…. Then I showed up, late, and…"
Eito's jaw drops. "Seriously?! Mine was like that, except you were about to marry this guy…"
"Wow. That's kinda spooky we had dreams so similar."
"Yeah….," Eito mumbles. Akiko gets the feeling there's something he isn't telling her.
"So uhm, at the end of my dream, my future self goes into the bathroom, and she says she wishes the future you weren't engaged to this chick; She still had feelings for you…," Akiko says.
"….Wow."
Still, there's something he's not telling her.
"So, uh, I'd better be getting home…"
"Yeah, of course, of course. I'll walk you to the door."
The friends walk down to the door, they say bye to each other, and Eito leaves. Akiko trudges up to her room, falling on her bed, to stare at the ceiling.
iThere's something he's not telling me…./i
