Note: This is more of a sequel than a last chapter but it's up to your interpretation.
July, summer break
Len POV
Months have passed since Rin's confession. Honestly, day by day her cheeks get redder and redder whenever I'm around. Her cold, ugly personality seemed to just melt away and form into some sort of...other creature. It's so amusing how she still tries to be harsh in her attitude and words.
School is on hold and summer break just begun. Whenever I get sort of bored and all my friends are busy, I contact her. Visiting her now considering the heat is too much work. But we're still in touch...most of the times. To be honest here, I do honestly like her, but I don't sincerely love her as much as she seems to with me. This certainly makes me feel like some sort of insensitive presumptuous person. I guess my feelings will someday become a bit stronger.
A ring reverberates through my room. I lazily get up from my bed and set down my fan. I swiftly answer the phone with a touch of the screen without looking at the caller ID. I already have a feeling of who it is.
"'Ello?"
"Len! Uh hi!"a high voice pierces through my ear. I knew it, Rin.
"Wha'ddya want Rin?" I scratch my head. Silence fills between the conversation.
She clears her throat. "I'm so freaking bored. We have to go to the newly opened amusement park. I just got some free tickets for two. Meet me there now or else...Satan will come knocking on your door."
I burst out laughing while falling back on my bed. The fan that lied on the edge bounced off. "Satan? Really? What's with your threats lately? They're so lame. Now you got no points or anything to threaten me with. How p—"
"Just hurry up and leave your house already!" she screams through the phone. I flinch and pull the phone away from my ear.
"But it's so hot outside! Do you not check the weather?" I reply. She stays silent. I sigh. "Fine I got it I'm coming okay? See you in a few minutes."
Hanging up the phone, I stuff it in my khaki shorts. I hustle down the stairs to the front door. Turning my head, I check the wall clock. 3:55 pm. It's already this late? I tuck the heels of my feet into the shoes closest to me. I take a deep breathe before stepping out in the blazing heat. I turn the knob. A wave of heat instantly blasts on my face. I slip my sunglasses on, and for once they are actually not used for decoration to look cool. The sun is already getting me. I air out my shirt from the hem.
After walking for unbearable amount of minutes that seemed like hours, I reached the entrance of the park. I see Rin standing by a statue. Her apparel consists of a blouse, short shorts, and sneakers. She glances around and meets my eye.
"Len! You're so slow! Hurry up, let's go!" she shouts at me.
Rin runs to the entrance and hands the tickets to a enter the park. Screams, laughter, chatter, and freshly made food fills the air. A warm breeze dances through them. A cold hand grabs mine. She pulls me toward a short line for a very frightening attraction. My stomach drops. I bury my feet to the ground, pulling Rin backwards.
"This is not a good idea Rin. Look, there's a lot more stuff we can ride on! There's even a lot of delicious food around! Don't you like amusement park food stalls? Look over there, there's even a huge maze!" I tell her while dragging her away from the frightening thing.
She studies me curiously. "Oh my, are you trying to say that...you're afraid of roller coasters?"
My face instantly warms up, like it's not burning from the heat already. I scratch the back of my head and she breaks out laughing. She pulls me into an awkward embrace and snuggles against my chest where people walk around us. Some girls who walked past us looked at us with dreamy faces. I tear her away from me.
"What the heck are you doing in the middle of public?" I scorn.
She stares deep into my eyes. Her cheek muscles lift into a smile I've never seen before. This smile, it emanates so much pleasant feelings with no hidden dark bipolar emotion. For some strange reason, my pulse quickens. If only she would smile like this everyday, I would have already fallen big time for her. Her eyes are a rather deeper shade of blue today. Her hair glows in the glaring sun. Her cheeks are rosy and shiny from the rays beating down on us. She seems to be...shining today. I hear my blood filtration pace pound against my ears. Shoot.
"Rin," I flash a charming smile. "you really should smile like that more often." her eyes widen. "It'll be a great chance to increase the possibility of you getting kidnapped."
Later that day, 6:20 pm
Rin POV
Summer break started and I got really lonely for some reason. It was the first time I experienced the feeling of being isolated. Then and there I realized how much of a loner I was and it came to me as terrible shock. I hastily called Len this morning for a quickly planned date and here we are. All attractions were tried except for roller coasters, which took up about 60% of the attractions, and Len is actually afraid of roller coasters. It made me want to squeeze him to death. The arrogant god is afraid of something. The thought makes me smile. I did force him to get on a coaster, and afterwards he nearly fainted. We took a short break on a bench, me serving as his pillow, and it's not like I liked Len to rest on my lap. Definitely not...even if it does make me want to pet his silky hair and examine his sun-bathed face. The sun set, and we're eating at the closest restaurant in the park.
"Hey," Len says. He's staring straight through my soul. He gently bends over the table and reaches for me. He's so close right now I can smell mint and chocolate. That scent again? I close my eyes, not knowing what to expect. "you got a leaf in your hair."
I open my eyes. He plucks the leaf out of my hair. I gaze directly at his eyes and he meets mine. We sit/stand there awkwardly. Oh no, I can only hear my heart pounding right now. My cheeks are getting super warm. I suddenly feel an urge to do something. I lean closer to his face and he starts leaning back. I quickly catch up to him and sure enough, I feel his breath. I close my eyes. Lips meet lips, just for a quick second. His eyes are wide from surprise and I grin as I lean away.
"What's with you and your PDA today? Are you sick? Did you hit your head? Did someone make you take drugs? Were you force-fed alcohol? Did a hypnotist hypnotize you? What's 12x3.1415?" he asks me.
I plop down on the booth an cross my arms. "No, I'm perfectly fine Len. You're suppose to say what's 1+1 not some sort of multiplication problem. Gosh, can't I show how much I despise you?"
After lunch, 7:00 pm
Len POV
After having a simple lunch at a nearby cafe, I dragged Rin towards the large glowing wheel, the Ferris wheel. It slowly rotated with glowing lights of all hues. After waiting in a long line, we entered the car. The wheel started, and we descended from the ground. City lights as far as the eye can see. The moon is hanging high in the cloudless night sky. We were left alone in the dark, silence fills the air.
"Len, thanks for today. I... it was fun." Rin quietly said.
I smiled at her. "It was fun for me too. Oh, and to return your despise..."
I swiftly move towards her. She smells like lemons. I brush away her bangs and plant a quick kiss on her forehead. Her face is completely flushed. I smirk.
"You arrogant, presumptuous, all-mighty, haughty, over-confident living god."
"Yes, Queen of Antarctica."
The car slows down to a stop. The day has ended. Our future days await us. This strange relationship of ours dwindling on the edge of something will surely turn out in a way unexpected. Well, all we can do right now is go with the flow. The flow of the unpredictable life even a living god can't defy... is what I would say if I was a super cheesy person.
Screw life, curse school, Rin is weird, my life is no longer too boring, summer started, my wallet will soon be broke because of her, and my brain is dead because of our weird undefinable relationship.
