AN: As more and more questions and concerns rise, I find it necessary to respond to them before writing out chapter 11. A lot of ideas are coming up, a lot of questions are coming out. I would PM the responses I find necessary, but some important ones are coming from Guest Reviewers. This won't be all of them, but the ones I need to respond to right now. Don't worry, chapter 11 is still in the works! Ok, here we go.
Priority: Monsieur A: My friend, I didn't mean to be rude when I responded to your theory. I just saw you had the wrong idea about what you based half of your theory on, and wanted to make sure you could get the right idea. I'm sorry if you thought I was "vicious". But, I need to respond to your newest reviews, and since you're a guest, I can't PM you about it. I need to respond to your entire review. So strap in and hold on!
Okay, I don't know where you're getting that from. Monika is most certainly not "the only sane person who can think independently". Do you not remember chapter 6? Yuri is the one who can think independently, considering she is the one that is self aware/omnipotent. If anyone is sane and can think independently, it is Yuri, not Monika. Monika is basically just another character at this point, not aware of what she really is. Wine in the clubroom? That has nothing to do with the story…
Richard hasn't talked to Monika because Monika is just another unaware character like Sayori and Natsuki, plus he needed to pay more attention to Sayori considering her obvious issues and Yuri because...well, you know why.
Woah woah woah! Brought her back from deletion? Gave her powers to Yuri? Okay, I think I know what you're saying, and again, you have the wrong idea. All Richard did was download a mod, inadvertently giving Yuri power, and nothing else! Monika's powers weren't stolen and given to Yuri, the mod gave Yuri the power, and it was enough for her to make her own world like the one she's from, and enough for her to suppress Monika. She is not "watching him slip through her fingers again" at all. She is just there. Unaware of any past events, which mind you, DDLC's events are included in that. She doesn't know anything about a player of DDLC deleting her. Not at all. To her, it's just a normal club week, and she doesn't know any better because Yuri suppressed her self awareness/omnipotence. She does not know that Richard played DDLC and deleted her. She doesn't know of her past in DDLC, which never even happened in this world.
He thought of her as a threat to him and Yuri because he's a little paranoid. Only he and Yuri know of Monika's past in DDLC, which again, never happened in this world, so not even Monika knows of her actions. He knows that she doesn't know, so why in the world would he bring it up to her?! She doesn't know about that! She is completely unaware! He hasn't said anything to her because he has his own priorities. Monika doesn't "need him to spend any minute of unscripted dialogue", because she doesn't know what is scripted and unscripted. She has no clue what's really going on! She's just another character, like Sayori and Natsuki. Only Richard and Yuri know what's going on. How this world is a creation of Yuri's so that she could finally have him.
You're giving Monika way too much credit and thought, here. She is not who she normally is. You need to realize this: Monika is not aware. She is not omnipotent. She is not angry at Richard for any past action, because she doesn't know about her own past actions, since Yuri made her unaware and powerless. She does not hate Richard at all, not for any reason. Only Richard and Yuri know what's going on, the rest are just characters. Monika could never bring herself to hate the character. It's just her. She always likes the MC, whoever it is. Monika doesn't see Richard as "betraying her and breaking her heart again". She doesn't know better. She just sees Richard as "a cute boy who joined my Literature Club". She does not know ANYTHING about DDLC. I'm not putting this in bold because I'm angry, I'm putting it in bold because this is my main point. And, if TL;DR: Monika is not aware, and has no clue of anything about her past. She just has no idea. Not aware, not omnipotent. Just another character.
Now, to your Sayori argument. I'm just going to start by saying that Monika is not giving him to Sayori. But I'm not invalidating your argument, so here we go into this one.
Yes, that is what happens. Or guilt if you accept her. Now, you think that might happen if she find about about #YuRichard? That's probable, actually. I mean, hypothetically. I promised that Sayori wouldn't die, and that's how it's going to be. But yes, actually. She could just be hiding her true feelings still, and he does mention that in his thoughts. She might be getting torn apart on the inside, no matter how happy she seems.
Richard doesn't need to love her in order to save her. He doesn't need to save her at all. And that goes for your next section, too. Monika doesn't need to, and won't do, anything. She doesn't even know about Sayori's depression. Oh no...dude, come on. Why in the world would Sayori be aware? Why in a blue moon would she remember Act 4? It's Sayori. She's just another character. Only Yuri and Richard know/remember anything about DDLC. She can't remember the game, and Monika doesn't either. That does kind of invalidate your next bits.
Is it possible that she doesn't remember Act 4? It's a little more than possible, considering its true. Sayori doesn't know ANYTHING about DDLC. Monika doesn't know ANYTHING about DDLC. They are just characters in the world that Yuri created to be just like DDLC, but be able to expand and change freely to Richard's actions.
To your second review: Monika is not trying to get Richard to cheat on Yuri with Sayori. Plain and simple. Refer to my bolded reasoning.
Wow. I wish I could have PMed this instead of making a C11 this, but you're a guest and so I have to. This is my response to your entire review(s). I hope you don't think I'm mad at you, again. I'm just trying to steer you in the right direction. Ok? I'm trying to help you understand what is going on here. I hope you read this and respond. But now I'm writing C11 for real, so if you do, I won't respond to you until after that unless you make an account. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a long review with your thoughts. I hope you stick around.
Phew. Ok. Up next.
Jack54311: Your theory could easily answer your question. Honestly, your theory is really, really good. I like it. Hell, that might just become my reasoning for it, even though it wasn't my plan. In any case, you give me ideas, so thank you!
CrimsonA377: Hey! It's the writer of LOVEchr again! When I saw I got a review from you, I got excited. Ok, you've got theories too. A: That is a really good thought. Oh my god, that is really good! You're pretty good at realizing what may be happening, it seems! Honestly, you give me ideas on explanations in the future, so thank you. B: That one's a lot more unlikely, but it's not bad. Ooooh, Monika's card gave you another thought? C: More likely than B, but still not very likely. If you saw anything I said to Monsieur A, Monika may have had an odd moment there, but she still isn't aware of her past or anything about DDLC at all. They are all sketchy theories, but it's good you're sharing them with me! I love to know what you guys think about the unknowns in my story! And yes, I know you're biased towards Monika. I've read your story lmao. Don't worry, Monika is not going to be unimportant the entire story. She will get plenty of time later on. Haha. Thank you for the review!
And here's C11. Hope you like it!
(*Timeskip: 6:15AM*)
"Why did you do this? Am I not good enough for you?"
"Why did you choose her over me? I think you need to be put in your place…let me remind you of something..."
"Richard...I'm so happy...ahaha...ahahahaha!...AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"NO!" I scream as I wake up from my nightmare, and sit up in my bed.
I...why did I dream of that...of Monika knowing everything...and making Yuri almost kill herself right in front of me...I just wanted to forget about that...but my mind won't let me. Monika doesn't know anything, and she won't...yeah...she won't revert to her old self as long as Yuri really did suppress her...I hope...
Sayori jolts awake at my outburst.
"Richard! What's wrong?" She hurriedly asks, and seems to lack any tiredness, even though she just woke up.
"I...I'm okay...I just had a nightmare..." I shakily respond.
"Oh no!" She exclaims, and quickly wraps her arms around me. I don't move much, and just continue to stare forward.
"It's all okay...you can talk to me if you need someone to talk to..." She quietly says, before noticing my unresponsiveness and releasing me.
"Thank you...I needed that..." I say, and give a small smile. She returns it with her signature beam.
"Hehe, you're welcome! What was the nightmare of, though?" She asks. I resist the urge to sharply inhale.
I can't tell her that. I just can't.
I shake my head and slowly turn my glance to meet her sapphire eyes, which are full of worry.
"I...I really don't want to talk about it..." I respond. She seems a little dejected at this.
"Do you...not trust me enough to tell me?" She sadly asks.
"No, that's not it...I just don't like talking about my nightmares...I'd rather just forget about them..." I add to my last comment. Her sadness fades slowly.
"Oh...alright. As long as you're okay..." She replies. I give a forced smile and nod, and look at the clock.
6:20. I was about to get awoken anyway.
I rub my eyes and get out of bed, and she follows suit.
"Did you sleep well, Sayori?"
"I did. I just felt...safe last night. I guess I can thank you for that. Hehe!" She giggles and boops my nose.
"I'm glad. Do you need to go back to your house to get ready for school?" I ask with a tinge of sadness.
"Oh...yeah, I probably should." She replies with the same tone. I nod and lead her down the stairs to my front door.
"Richard, thank you for letting me sleepover at your house...and for all of yesterday. I enjoyed spending so much time with you." She says after stopping at the door. I nod.
"I did, too. It was amazing to do it again, just like when we were younger. I loved being with you yesterday." I reply, and pat her shoulder. She smiles widely, and walks out of my house to hers. I shut the door and let out a huge sigh.
Now I've spent an entire day with Yuri, and Sayori. I really feel like Natsuki will want to do something today. But, I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about Sayori. She needs to keep up her end of the agreement we made. And...I kinda miss Yuri. Hell, I almost made the wrong choice yesterday...I want to see her again...
I pull out my phone, and realize I missed a message from Yuri about 6 minutes ago.
"Good morning, my love. How did it go yesterday after you texted me? Did Sayori end up doing it?"
I quickly type up a response.
"Yes. She confessed feelings for me. But I told her I only loved her as my best friend, and she doesn't seem hurt by my words. I'm not sure, she may be faking it. I can explain more later. Can you meet me before school?"
In less than a minute, she replies.
"Yes, I can. I'll be near your first class. See you then."
I smile and put my phone away. I take about ten minutes to change into my uniform, and freshen up in the restroom. I check the clock, and it's now 7. I go back downstairs and await Sayori's return...but she doesn't show up. I give it another 15 minutes, and she still hasn't shown up.
Something's not right. I'm done waiting. I'm going over there.
I speedwalk out of my house, shut the door, and go over to Sayori's house. As I walk toward her door, it suddenly opens. Sayori walks out to meet me.
"Sayori...what took so lo-" I cut myself off as I look at her. My answer stands right in front of me.
Woah...I've never seen her this...groomed and clean before...her uniform has no wrinkles in it, and her peach hair is carefully straightened. Not messy at all. I can smell a new perfume on her as well. It looks like she put a lot of time into her appearance...and she looks absolutely beautiful...
She quietly giggles at my sudden pause. I realize I didn't finish my comment and go on.
"Sayori...it looks like you put a lot of work into your appearence today." I say.
"Well, you know what they say! Look good, feel good!" She replies, and smiles wide.
"Then you must feel amazing...because you look...beautiful." I say with sincerity. She blushes mildly and giggles again.
"Hehe...you're not so bad yourself..." She replies, and I can feel my face heat a little. I make gestures saying "let's start walking", and she nods, shutting her door. We both start to walk to school. The walk is rather quiet, but Sayori beams brightly the entire way there. When we reach the school, we say our goodbyes and part. I walk to my first hour class, and sure enough, Yuri is waiting near the door. Our gazes meet fast, and she mildly smiles, starting to walk toward me. I walk too, and when we're face to face, I speak.
"I missed you...it's great to see you."
"It's nice to see you too, Richard..." She replies, and we both kiss briefly. I let the sensation cover me.
There's the feeling I was starting to forget...kissing my true love...
When we release, her eyes are full of almost opposites. Desire, and worry. I act on noticing this.
"After we left the club early, I...ended up spending the entire day with Sayori. And yeah, like I said, she eventually confessed to me." I say, and shake my head.
"O-Oh...but...after her confession...doesn't she...um..." She clearly doesn't want to finish her thought. I nod.
"Y-Yeah...but, I had already been discussing her depression, both before and afterward. When I told her I only loved her as my best friend, and not the way she loved me, she seemed destroyed...but I tried my hardest to comfort her, and she seemed happy. She said last night it was the 'happiest she had ever been'. We agreed that she should seek a professional to help her combat her depression, so I guess now I have to wait and see." I moderatly explain the situation.
"Okay...but does she...um...k-know about you and I?" She asks nervously.
"I...left that part out entirely. No." I reply. I figured that might ease her, but she seems even more worried.
"What are w-we going to do...when s-she finds out?" She asks.
"If she does...and I were to admit that it had been an ongoing thing...she would know I had lied to her. I told her I didn't see her as a lover, but I didn't say it was because I already had someone. She can't find out in the near future, so we have to keep pretending when we're around them..." I sadly answer.
"And so...that way, we can say it recently h-happened if they do find out..." She puts the pieces together. I nod.
"Exactly. But we never have to pretend when it's just you and I..." I say. She breaks a small grin.
"Yeah...I'm glad you were able to resolve the situation with Sayori...I know she means a lot to you..." She closes her eyes and speaks.
"I am too...but I couldn't lie to her and say I love her...I would never love anyone other than you. You are my everything. I love you." I say, and gently hold her hands.
"And I would never even consider anyone other than you, Richard. You chose to give me what no one else would. Your love. Everywhere I looked, I was hated and ridiculed. But you were different. And maybe it was fate that I found you. You mean everything to me. I love you so much..." She softly says. I take a quick glance around to confirm that it's only us in the hall, and I don't hear anyone else, either. Dead silence except for our breathing. So I look back at her, and let myself get lost in her amethyst eyes.
And I thought Sayori was beautiful...no comparison to the seraph in front of me...
I slowly lean into her, and she closes her eyes, as if she knows exactly what I'm about to do. It's more than a little obvious, though, as I forcefully kiss her. She wraps her arms around my neck and pushes back hard, catching me off-guard slightly. After a few seconds, I can feel her tongue as well. I open my mouth up moderately, and her tongue charges in to hit mine. Now, both of our tongues are engaged in brutal combat as she pushes harder than ever before. I'm in complete sensory overload. Every sense is full of her, and only her, as we intensely make out. After what feels like forever, I find myself short on breath. I finally slow down, and at a snail's pace move my lips away from hers. We both open our eyes and find ourselves breathing heavily. But, something catches my eye down the hall.
Did I just see a pink flash near the corner? Could it have been...no, no way. That can't be possible.
I let the thought alleviate from my head, and look back into her eyes, as she continues to breathe somewhat heavily. Her eyes scream three words.
"I want more."
"Yuri...that was...amazing..." I say, while still catching my breath.
"Huhu...I would concur. But..." She leads on, and gets even closer to me.
"Who says we have to stop now?" She replies, now vocally expressing the desire in her eyes.
Well...we're literally in the middle of a school hallway...how has nobody seen us yet? We shouldn't be doing this here...and yet...I want more too...
She gets a wide smile on her face and giggles, never ceasing her stare. I start to lean in for round 2-
"BRRRRIINNG!" The 5 minute bell goes off, taking us both by surprise.
"W-Wha? Oh..." She whimpers, looking moderatly dejected.
"Oh...I guess we should...get going..." I sadly say.
"Yes...I'll see you at club, Richard..." She responds. I start to gently run my hand down her hair.
"Yeah, see you then. I love you."
"I love you too..."
"I love you more." I jokingly say.
"Huhu...don't be too certain..." She replies, giggling and grinning. I laugh, and return my hand to my side. She turns around and walks away, and I find myself staring at her until she goes around the corner.
I want more. There's something deep within me...clawing...screaming...it wants more.
I. WANT. MORE.
I mentally slap myself, and remember that its time for class. Sitting down in Trigonometry, the last school day of the week starts...
(*Timeskip: End Bell*)
"Shoot, I'm going to be a little late..." I mutter to myself. I had lost track of time, and was still packing up my things as everyone else dispersed. I find myself leaving only one minute late, but suddenly, a random thought hits me when I walk out.
I should take the long way around, and swing by Study Hall. Monika might have lost track of time, again.
And so, I went to Study Hall. Sure enough, Monika was still inside, playing away at the piano. Oblivous to everything. Well, almost everything. When I stepped in, she was just finishing up, and the floor creaked beneath me. She opened her eyes, and looked at me.
"Hi, Richard! What brings you...wait...oh no! Am I late for club again?" She worriedly asks.
"Yeah...now BOTH of us are late." I reply.
"I'm sorry! I lost track of time again! Geez...what kind of president am I, that I can't even get to my own club on time..." She guiltily mutters and looks down.
"Monika, it's okay. You're a great club president. Being late a couple times doesn't dispute that." I act on her mutters. She looks back at me with her bright emerald eyes, and smiles.
"Thanks! Let's get going!" She says after covering the piano. I nod, and we start to walk to the clubroom. On the way, she speaks up again.
"Hehe...thanks for what you said on your card, Richard. I feel good knowing you're in it for the long run with u- with me!" She cuts herself off, and self-corrects.
Just like on her card...when she scribbled out "we" and put "I"...
"I made another promise, and it's just like I told you two days ago. I'm a man of my word." I reply. She smiles brighter.
"Hehe...you seem like a really nice guy." She says.
"H-Huh? What?" I quickly ask.
Did she just say that to my face?
"Ahaha, nothing!" She laughs at my reaction, looking childishly innocent. I shake my head, and don't ask again. After another minute, we reach the clubroom. Monika stops just outside the closed door, and turns around to face me, another warm smile forming.
"You didn't have to come and get me if it was going to make you late too..."
"Yes, I did. What's a club without it's president? We need you with us in there. We wouldn't know what to do without you there to give us instruction. To guide us. So, I did have to come get you." I reply.
"Aww...thank you!" She excitedly says, and I see her blush a small amount.
The all-star Monika, blushing at something I said? Hell, I barely spoke to her last year in the class we shared, except for in February when we worked together on a group project. That was the first time I really sat and spoke to the beauty herself, face to face...and I felt so nervous...worried she might be disgusted by me. But I found out she was a really nice girl, even though she was popular. She seemed to like me, too. By mid April, we talked on a regular basis. I'm still suprised I made her blush...
Wait, WHAT? Did I just have another memory? About her, this time? Oh my god...why am I having these memories...
I find myself at a loss for words further, and look down. She giggles quietly, and finally opens the door, as I enter behind her.
"There they are!" I hear Natsuki exclaim as soon as we enter. As I expected, the other three were already here. She walks right up to me.
"Richard, it's her job to be late, not yours! Geez, what took you so long?" She angrily asks.
Heh, I know just how to get out of this one. Although, it's not like I'm hiding anything...still doing it.
"Why do you care so much if I'm here or not?" I fire back.
"Uh-! I don't! I was just asking why you were late!" She replies as her temper starts to flare.
"I was seeing if our Resident President was still in Study Hall after the bell, and she was, so we both came up here a little late." I say.
"Resident President? Hehe..." Sayori giggles at my comment, as well as Monika.
"Oh. Well, okay. You could have just said that." She says and calms down. She walks away.
And we decided today was a free day, of sorts. Right.
I look around the room. Everyone seems to be doing their own thing again.
Now, who do I walk to? Yuri's over there reading...so I would do that...but I kinda want to go over to Monika. I don't speak to her too much...
Upon this thought, I walk over to Monika, who is at the teacher's desk. I notice that a chair is already pulled up to the desk on the side opposite her...as if she knew/wanted me to come over here. I don't dwell on it, and focus on her.
"Hi, Richard!" She notices me quickly, and says.
"Hey, Monika. How are you?"
"I'm doing pretty well, thanks for asking! And how about you?" She smiles warmly and replies.
"I'm doing alright. May I sit here?" I ask.
"Of course!" She responds. I can detect mild excitement in her voice. I sit down in the seat, finding myself a little close to her. I ball my hands together on the desk.
I think she did want me to sit here...
"So, how long have you been playing the piano?" I ask.
"At least a year now. I think I've gotten pretty good at it! Ahaha..." She replies. She turns her entire body towards me, and does exactly what I should have expected. She lowers her head a tiny bit, and bridges her hands underneath her chin.
Oh no...this is reminding me too much of Act 3...this looks EXACTLY like it...putting aside that we're actually in a classroom with others...but still...she looks just like she did in the void...
"Oh? You think so?" I ask.
"Mhm!"
"Well, maybe you could show me sometime." I say. Her eyes widen at this.
"You'd want me to play for you?" She asks.
"Yeah. I bet you're really good at it..." I reply. I feel like I've gotten even closer to her, even though I haven't moved. As I stare into her emerald eyes, I can feel my heart starting to speed up.
"Aww...well, I'd love to play for you sometime! Hehe...my card was right, you are a sweetheart..." She says the last part quietly. I laugh and look away for a bit. Everyone else is still off on their own, seemingly at ease.
Maybe I need to relax, too...
I turn back to Monika, and she boops my nose quickly.
"Ah-!" I flinch a little. She giggles and sighs happily.
"Thanks for suggesting this for today. I think all of us could use a relax day." She softly says.
"You're welcome. I figured that might be true, so I said it..." I respond. An odd silence falls over us, and she sighs happily again, not once looking away from my eyes. A light breeze from a nearby window catches her smooth chestnut hair, causing it to continuously move ever so slightly. I find myself half-enthralled by the beauty in front of me, as my face heats and my heart speeds up a little more.
This feeling...the same feeling I had when I was walking with Sayori yesterday...and under the tree...no...I couldn't possibly be falling for her, too...
"Hehe...why are you just staring at me, Richard?" She asks, effectively breaking the silence.
"Well...how about I ask you why you're staring at me?" I fire back. Her smile gets wider, and she taps her chin.
"Ahaha...I just like staring into your eyes. I get a funny feeling as I do...it's an odd cross of something I can't quite comprehend...and deja vu..."
DEJA VU?!
"Deja vu? From staring at me? Do you have any clue why?" I ask, trying to conceal my worry.
"Hmm...I'm really not sure. Maybe you just look like someone I knew...I'm not sure..." She replies.
Deja vu? I look like someone she used to know? That does not sound good. Not good at all...I hope she's not remembering...that...
"I'm not sure what the other half of it is, either. But it's a good feeling. Hehe...you never answered me, though..." She teasingly says.
"Well...I feel like people stare at you a lot. Who wouldn't?" I start. She blushes a tiny bit.
"Hehe...I guess people do look at me a lot...but I want to know why YOU do it!" She says, booping my nose when she emphasizes "you". I find an odd confidence come over me, one I hadn't felt before.
"I was staring at you because your pretty eyes compliment the rest of you..." I say.
No...I can't go down this road...
"I don't think there's much to it other than that you're absolutely beautiful..."
I have to stop myself before she gets a wrong idea...why can't I stop...
"And I can't help but feel honored having the privilege to be in your presence, being able to just look at you..."
I HAVE TO STOP!
I force a cough, and look down, quickly regretting everything I just uttered. The feeling feels weaker. It's a little too late, though, as she blushes rather moderately.
"You...think I'm beautiful?" She excitedly asks me. I look back up at her face, and her smile has never been this bright. The feeling returns.
"I do, because you are." I reply, and smile myself.
"Aww...you're so sweet, Richard..."
"I bet you get told that a lot, though...what I said..."
"I really don't get told that much...and it means a lot more to me, coming from you." She softly says, and manages to get even closer to me, her face now well within a foot of mine. I stare into her eyes even more intently, and suddenly, I forget about everyone else. They all fade away, and so does everything around me. I can see only her. I can think only her. I even forget about Yuri. She is all there is.
Nothing else.
No one else.
Just Monika.
"HEY, RICHARD!" I hear Natsuki loudly shout from across the room, breaking me from my trance. I feel like I shouldn't keep her waiting, so I stand up. Monika appears sad.
Why did I fall into that trance? How? I felt like I almost lost control...like she had influence on me...but that's crazy talk. I'm just paranoid. I need to ease up and focus.
"Yes, Nat?" I ask from across the room.
"Come here! I wanna show you something!" She shouts. I turn back to Monika, who is now standing as well. I find myself immediately feeling sorry for her.
"I'd want to stay here and keep talking to you...but she needs me for who-knows-what." I say to her.
"It's okay. We hadn't gotten to talk too much, so...thank you for taking some time to chat with me!" She says, and regains her smile.
"Of course. I hope we can again soon." I say. She blushes a tiny bit as I nod and turn around, making my way to Natsuki. Sayori says something to me as I walk past her.
"Ehehe...sorry, Richard..." I stop.
"Huh? For what?" I ask. Before she can respond, Natsuki is already right next to me.
"So...Richard...come over here for a sec!" She says, and runs over to the closet. I sigh and follow her over. She wheels around to face me.
"So...Sayori told me you...enjoyed Parfait Girls!" She says, and gets a devilishly large smile.
Thanks, Sayori. Geez.
"Heh...erm...so let me guess..." I start.
"I've got an entire collection of Parfait Girls manga! Come read with me!" She excitedly finishes my thought.
"Haha..." I laugh. She takes offense to it.
"Why are you laughing? What's so funny?"
"I guess you did say on your card that you were going to make me do this." I reply.
"D-Don't talk about that! I only wrote that because I had to! Geez..." She snaps, and averts her hot pink eyes.
"Natsuki, I'm just teasing. I will gladly read with you." I sincerely say, and she looks back at me. That smile from day 1 comes back for a little, but quickly vanishes.
"Don't make it...weird or anything. But I'm glad." She says, and sits down against the wall, holding one of the books. I sit down by her, and she scooches midly close to me, sitting the book on her where I could still see it. Her smile returns wide.
Guess she's also glad to spend time with me. Who knows? Maybe I'll enjoy it.
"This is the earliest one in my collection of Parfait Girls. Don't wanna throw you into a spot that's too far into the story. You probably wouldn't understand anything." She puts a nasty emphasis on "you".
"You're right." I simply reply.
"I know I'm right! I don't need you to tell me!" She angrily remarks. I take a look around the room before responding, noticing that Yuri is quickly sneaking glances over at us intermittently.
Oh...I hope she doesn't feel like I forgot about her...I just don't want to be mean to the others...
"Ok. Fine. I just want to read with you. Shall we?" I impatiently ask. She nods, and I mentally strap myself in, as we start to read Parfait Girls...
AN: Don't think I'm driving away from Yuri, she's probably coming back next chapter as a more important force. I'll leave you to speculate your own theories about the Monika part. You all have had such great reviews! Such interesting theories, too! It's great to see what you all think about the uncertains of my story! And I could go on, but you all know what I mean. Ok, this chapter's already the longest yet, so without further ado, response time.
TheRealDarm (You put the same review twice...): I'm glad you liked the little Sayori arc I went on there! Hard reality I dropped? Heh, you could word it like that. Yeah, hit like bricks. Right? Right?! You ask? Well, she's supposed to get professional help today with it, so I hope she isn't too depressed! But I don't know. It's all up to her. Yes, the new memory phenomenon! That has gone so well so far, so many theories, you know? Surprise you more? I'll try, man. I hope you never regret that follow. Thanks for staying caught up. At least as well as you can. Haha. And for the review, of course!
CrimsonA377: See the top, my friend, thank you for the review!
Guardian: You might be a terrible human being, but so am I so don't feel bad. Wow. Guardian keeping a review vanilla on a non-smut (so far) story? I've seen non-meme reviews from you on...less wholesome pieces. Hahaha. I digress. Chapters have been just too nice? I'm glad you think so! You wouldn't have ruined the chapter by putting one of your signature reviews, though! I love your reviews! But I get what you're saying. Glad you can understand the friendzoning. F. Much love.
DX91: An emotional clusterfuck? Sounds accurate. It's okay if you can't review on every chapter. Dude, you should bribe someone else to do that job, cuz it sounds super dumb. Thanks for the review.
Sturm-Ray: My friend, again. Saw a really long review from you and I was excited to read it! Your reviews are so good. Sorry you were busy testing. I will be soon, and now I have a job to go to, so all aboard the busy train. Ok, here I go.
Unsurprisingly Sayori? Yeah...and yes, it was pretty close. But he salvaged what could have been a major situation. Haha...glad you like the cuteness I went for there. I love reading this part of your review. A cute little sunny ball? Hehe...good assessment.
I guess I know who your waifu is now. Haha. Respect. Not saying that's bad. Don't worry, there was no way I was going to let her suffer.
Lol, that cut-off when saying usual. Well said. Yes, it is very confusing and troubling. What is happening to him? Could you be right? Who knows! Haha...anyway, glad you liked all the emotion that went into that chapter.
I did think you were done with chapter 9, but here we go again on my own!- sorry, got into a singing mood there. Ok, let's see. Revealed their old memories, and yeah it was just Sayori at first, but Richard started having memories, too. Oh hell yeah. Him wanting the kiss was off. Something is definitely wrong. But, he managed to hold it back and not do it until after he had told her how he really felt, effectively shutting down the attraction he had towards her. At least, as far as we know. C9 cliffhanger was the hardest one yet, and 100% necessary. Kind of. Haha.
Yeah, he felt an unwanted feeling inside him, that he might also love her, too. But he wasn't going to leave Yuri. He remembered her when he needed to most, and was able to reject her while keeping it in check. Couldn't have gone much better for him! Yeah, the wall of text. I needed a deep feelz moment. I actually teared up a little writing that wall of text, so I figured it must have been just right for the situation. Yeah...the hug...and then she finally got the kiss she wanted. He just didn't want to do it until she knew that he didn't see her as a lover, and then he could finally give her what she had wanted all day. Shooo cuuteeee? Haha, I'm glad you liked that part so much!
Definitely not a dense object. The memories coming back were unexpected? How did they come back? Dude, it's super weird to me, too. How does he remember things that he was never involved in? That he never saw? That he never even knew? Maybe an odd phenomenon is happening where Richard is not wholly defined as a different entity than the DDLC MC, and SOMEHOW MC's memories are being merged into becoming Richard's past. Could Monika have something to do with it? So many questions...
Yeah, I had to have a chapter without any kind of cliffhanger, this time. Glad you liked that. You think I'm superb at writing? Thank you so much! I'd better give Yuri and Monika some love? Well, you saw in this new chapter that he...kinda did. And he didn't entirely want to, but he still did. Is Monika influencing him? Maybeeee...
Your review was amazing. Thank you so much for dropping such a long and detailed review. I hope you do it again, and I'm glad my story benefits you during your "ease time"!
Izaak85: He did stay faithful to the best Doki. I hope Richard doesn't lower his depression-alert, too. Yeah, apparently everything went well. She might be hiding her true feelings again, but I hope not. I thought she was happy, and I hope she is! Sí, eso sigue siendo tan relevante como antes. Venir a buscarlo no es algo de lo que avergonzarse, ya que es la fuerza impulsora de mi historia. ¡Espero que te quedes!
Szejdol: All those things are perfect to you? Even me? I'm flattered! Thank you so much!
YankeeBoi, or should I call you...Berna?: One hell of a save? I thought so too lol. A great route? Thanks, my friend! Everything will be okay? I hope so. Thanks for your kind words on the Sayori arc, my friend. An effing hero? Haha, yeah! Thanks for your review. I'll be seeing you on Discord!
ZombieSlayers: Understandable.
GertaNn: Okay yeah, that makes a lot more sense haha. You're most certainly welcome! I'd never do that to you! Hell, I'd never do that to myself! Thank you for the review.
sbg1218: *throws your review in the trashcan* Yeah yeah yeah I get it you want the dial to get broken, stuck on rawdog mode, shut up.
*rewinds time* Haha, I'm kidding! Mixed feelings, huh? Understandable. We ain't seen Yuri in so long? Dude, its been like one day. Lmao. But I get what you mean when you put it in terms of chapters. As I assumed, that's what you want. Well...put the brakes on that one. Not in the immediate near future, but maybe later. Who's to say drama won't spike sorrow or forgiveness...and who's to say said spike won't prompt...another moment...I mean, huh?! Wait, I can't be spilling any details! At least you understand that it was the point, and yes, I do know what you want. I figure you might be one to actually like the Monika bit that just happened, even if it was a little odd. Maybe more than a little. I don't know. Thanks for the review.
The foulest of bois: Be patient, my friend. We'll get back there soon enough. Haha. Thanks for reading.
Brutalight: It's okay, I knew what you meant to say. Thank you!
Jack54311 (Your response to my response up top): Yeah, it's a really good explanation for it! I love it! What was my original plan, you ask? Truth be told, I had a lot of different ideas, but I never finalized on one. And when I saw how so many people had their own ideas, I decided to maybe implement some of them into an explanation of why Richard is having the memories. Yours is really good! I plan on at least partly using it! So, technically, I didn't have a finalized "original plan". But I had ideas. Not gonna make a laundry list of what they were, sorry. It's irrelevant now, anyway. Thank you for the amazing thoughts and for your reviews! I really hope you stick around for more!
Aria Tavoosii, Review 1: Ah, a new theorist approaches! Like your A theory. Lmao. Let me analyze your B.
You're absolutely right. Monika is regaining her powers. But at this point, she is still powerless to really do anything. Seeming like normal to everyone else. When Yuri gained her powers, she surpassed Monika due to the full extent of the mod itself. She knew that Monika knew about her newfound powers, and so she tried to shut Monika down. She believed it had worked perfectly, and Monika would mean no worry to her again. Was she right? The card, and other things in this new chapter, prove otherwise. They just haven't caught on, yet.
That's an interesting explanation for why it didn't work. It really is. I can't say you're correct about the second part of this paragraph, though, about how Monika doesn't have the epiphany but remembers having powers and being stuck, watching code. I'm not shutting down your theory, though! It's a really interesting thought, and having an open mind about these things is good! (unless you go too far, like some people...)
This entire next paragraph, I can only classify as speculation. I cannot confirm any of this, nor can I say that any of it is true. But, again, it's a really interesting theory. You think that Monika knows that she once had some kind of power, and is trying to find it again, blaming Richard for her loss of it? Intriguing. But...you think that a gap in her memory happened the exact day he showed up? As I cannot confirm that there is a gap at all, I cannot say that you are correct. But you're putting a lot of thought into it, and so far you have not annoyed me with anything you have said. I like reading your thoughts. But let me keep going.
Woah, horsey. Let's stop galloping and slow to an amble. You think that after Monika saw Heavensent that she knew something was up? And that's why you think that Monika was somehow trying to influence Richard to love Sayori? And all of it was a test of her re-emerging powers? Wow. I'm the freaking author of the story, and you are almost blowing my mind. I can't say that is correct either, but good thoughts. So...I gotta ask, do you think that what happened between him and Monika in this chapter was "the confirmation"? Do you think that Monika will now pin him somewhere and try to coerce, or even force, him to give her answers about where she really is, and what happened? You think Monika will try to kill the others if he refuses to tell the truth? Wow. You have thought very far into the future. I got a grapple rope on you as you go into the abyss, but the line is at max length and may snap if you keep going, so I'm reeling you back in. You are thinking very far into the future. You have to remember that at this point, she isn't capable of any of this. If anything, she only has a slight sliver of anything relating to her past, and even then it's not enough for her to act unordinary, or do anything even if she wanted to. She's still powerless to Richard. However, it is possible that she was responsible for his sudden trance and the compliments he didn't really want to say. You've got more reviews, so no closing statement yet.
Aria Tavoosii, Review 2: Be my guest to explain more. I'm honestly very interested.
Your first thought here is really good, and is actually about what I had in mind. There certainly was a feeling there, and if Richard had, even for just another few moments, forgotten about Yuri, then he would have said the wrong thing. He might have requited her feelings, and fully fell in love with her. But he remembered Yuri at the last second. Did it just happen? Was it Yuri's fault? Another unknown for the list. You think that it was a test of Monika's returning powers, and that she was trying to make a choice for Richard, but he fought back and overrode her choice? Amazing thought! That might just become correct, if you are right about Monika in general. Can't say that you are right now, but you will know sooner or later. Haha.
Your second thought. You think she wanted to get answers out of Richard? If Richard somehow knew that Monika was behind him having feelings for Sayori, you think that he would confront her about it and that it would confirm that her memory gap is his fault? And you didn't need to reword the last sentence of this paragraph, I understood what you meant. All I can say is, another interesting thought.
Thinking ahead, I see? You think that once she got that confirmation, she would force him to tell her everything? What he did? What he erased? And why he felt the need to erase? You're forgetting something, though. Richard didn't do anything, really. All he did was download a mod for fun and it happened to give Yuri power. Yuri is the one who suppressed her. Richard wouldn't be able to answer any of those questions, really, considering he himself didn't really do much. It was all inadvertent to him until Yuri explained everything back in C6 and C7.
Ah, you're ahead of me this time! That's great! Your last line, there! You...basically already said what I just said...shoot. I'm dumb. *insert facepalm*. You're correct. If ANY of what you just said happens to be true, she doesn't appear to have any idea that it's actually all Yuri's fault. Appears. Does she really know, deep down? That it wasn't entirely Richard's fault? Hmmmm...maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't count on Monika being able to influence Yuri, though. No matter how much power she may or may not get back, this entire world is Yuri's creation, and she is all-powerful. So don't expect Monika being able to influence Yuri in any way, like that. Like, by coding or editing. Maybe forget about that one...
And I'll just throw in a small bit to your third review here, you can't edit reviews once they're up, so don't worry about it. It's okay, I got what you meant, but thanks for clarifying regardless.
Aria, wow. Just...wow. You must have put a lot of time into this review, so I'm putting in a lot of time to make this response to it. You have a LOT of ideas. And while I cannot confirm that any of them are correct, I can't say that they're incorrect either. You might be right about a few things...who knows? I just can't spoil details that become important in the near future. But your thoughts are amazing! All of them are really good! Thank you so much for such a lengthy review full of your thoughts and theories! I hope my response doesn't annoy you, and I don't mean to sound mean or be rude at any time. I'm incredibly thankful that you put this much effort into my story and its unknowns. Thank you. Thank you so much!
Okay. This chapter is slowly becoming a behemoth. Relatively. Longest one yet, but that might be thanks to what I already had for C11 before the actual chapter, still at the top. Thanks to everyone who reviewed, and thanks to anyone reading this right now! I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and do give me your two cents on it! See you in C12!
