I saw Thor The Dark World yesterday and it was AMAZING! I loved it so much! From this chapter on, these will be SPOILERS FOR THOR THE DARK WOLRD! READ ONLY IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE! Here's an extra long chapter for you to enjoy!
Frigga's POV, years ago
"Your grandfather, Borr, was a very honorable man." Frigga told her children as she tucked them in for bed.
"He was a great warrior and an even better King." She said with a smile. "That is how your father became such a great King."
She looked at her children with pride.
Thor, her oldest son, sat still, listening with gleaming eyes.
Loki, her middle child, nudged Thor excitedly, while Thor elbowed him to shut up.
Then there was Astrid, her youngest child, and only daughter. Astrid sat listening to her mother intently, but was not listening for the "greatest warrior" part. She just loved being told stories.
"There once creatures called Dark Elves. The world was dark when they were around, giving them the name, Dark Elves." Frigga went on.
"Their leader, Malekith, held a special weapon. It was called the Aether. The Aether was a fluid of dark matter that the Dark Elves wanted to use to put all the Nine Realms into darkness." She watched as her children's eyes widened.
"But your grandfather, Borr, led his army against the Dark Elves and Malekith. Their army was strong, and they overpowered the Dark Elves, but lost many people in the process."
"Malekith sacrificed his own people to try and destroy the Asgardians. All of his people died, including him. Your grandfather was victorious. He destroyed the Aether, and the Nine Realms were safe." She concluded, and smiled when her children cheered.
"He sounds awesome!" Thor cried.
"Did he use his own magic? Did he have magic?" Loki asked, waving his hands around to try and prove his point.
Astrid elbowed Loki. "He didn't have magic! Only you have magic!"
Loki puffed out his chest. "Because I'm the best!"
"No, I'm the best! I'm going to become King one day!" Thor boasted.
"No! I will become King!" Loki challenged.
Frigga hushed them. "Quiet now children. It is time for you to go to sleep."
A series of AWWWWWs sounded, and she smiled.
She tucked them each into their own beds and smiled. "Good night my children. See you in the morning."
Frigga turned the light off and left the room.
Astrid's POV, Present day
Astrid sat in her room as her mother came in.
"Hello Mother." Astrid greeted.
Frigga was silent.
"Mother?"
Frigga sighed. "Odin has banished Loki to the dungeons for the rest of his life. That was the best I could do for him."
Frigga had been the only one who fought for Loki. She fought for him to stay alive.
Astrid sighed. "That's not enough."
Frigga whipped her head to look at her. "You used to fight for him too. What happened?"
Astrid's eyes became hard. "He hurt me. That's what happened. He never loved me at all."
Astrid stood up and left the room.
Thor had returned with his prisoners that he had brought back from his conquests. That night, there was a celebration feast.
Astrid didn't feel like celebrating.
She hadn't felt like anything for the past two years.
She returned to her room and went to sleep early.
The next day, guards brought back another prisoner. She didn't know where this one came from, but it looked different.
It was some sort of monster with long husks like a big gray thing that she saw on Midgard. Both were strange creatures.
She shrugged it off. All the prisoners looked different.
Thor had left and she didn't know where he went. That was a while ago.
She was standing with her friends, when she saw Thor. With Jane Foster.
She said a quick goodbye and hurried after them.
"Thor!" She called out.
Thor stopped and turned around. So did Jane.
Astrid looked at Jane in shock.
Jane wore the same expression.
Thor cleared his throat. "Jane, this is my sister Astrid. Astrid this is Jane Foster."
"Yes, I know who you are." Astrid said quickly and Jane looked surprised.
"But you were with the Avengers too! You were injured! So wait! That makes you Loki's sister as well?" Jane asked quickly, with curiosity.
"No!" Astrid snapped quickly. "He is not my brother."
Jane fell silent.
Thor watched the exchange before speaking.
"I was talking Jane to the Medical Ward to get her checked out. There is something wrong."
Astrid nodded and followed.
She watched from the side as Jane lay on the table and the women looked over her. An image of Jane popped up above them and the women looked at it, examining a black dot that was in her chest.
"That is not Asgardian." A woman said quietly.
The doors burst open and Odin walked in.
"She should not be here! A mortal on Asgard?" Odin said loudly.
Jane looked up. "Who do you think you are?"
"I am Odin! King of Asgard." Odin replied with authority.
"Oh." Jane stopped. "Well I'm-"
"Jane Foster. Yes, I know who you are." He replied evenly.
Jane glanced at Thor. "You told your father about me?"
Odin interrupted. "She does not belong here."
"But there is something wrong with her father!" Thor said quickly.
"There are things on Midgard called Doctors. Let them handle it. Guards! Take her back to Midgard." Odin started to leave.
"That's not a-" Thor said as the guards grabbed Jane.
A pulse of something red shot out of Jane and pushed everyone back.
Astrid hit her back against the wall.
Odin stopped suddenly.
Jane fell back against the table.
Thor rushed to her side and Astrid did as well.
Odin followed. He reached out tentatively, and held his hand above her arm.
Astrid watched as she saw something running through the veins in her arm.
Odin stood back. "I think I know what this is."
Odin led them to a room full of books and pulled one off the shelf. He opened it and placed it on the table.
"My grandfather fought a race called the Dark Elves." He began, looking down at the pages.
"We've been told this story as children." Astrid interrupted.
Odin looked at her and nodded. "Yes. You remember the Aether?" He glanced at Thor.
Thor and Astrid nodded.
"But Borr destroyed it." Thor interjected.
"So you believed." Odin replied. "The Aether was very powerful and could not be destroyed. Asgard took it and buried it deep where no one would ever find it." He stopped to look at Jane. "But someone did."
"Does this book happen to tell you how to take it out of me?" Jane spoke up.
Odin frowned. "It does not."
Thor frowned as well. "So what do we do?"
The four of them stopped when they heard guard's feet pounding outside.
They all hurried out and Odin stopped one. "What is happening?"
"There is a commotion at the Prison!" He said quickly before rushing away.
Frigga came rushing towards them.
Thor glanced at Astrid and Odin. "Loki."
Frigga nodded towards Thor. "Go. I'll look after Jane. Go!"
Astrid raced off after Thor.
Loki's POV, a few minutes earlier.
Loki lay sprawled out on his bed and was throwing an object up in the air and catching it. He didn't even know what it was. He was that bored.
Suddenly, the lights flickered. He stopped and glanced around. He heard pounding on the barrier of cells near to him.
He stood and looked outside of his cell. He saw one of the new prisoners walking confidently out of its cell, the protective barrier destroyed.
It was destroyed the other barriers, and letting the prisoners out.
Then the warriors showed up.
The prisoners fought the people with a deep rage and vengeance.
The thing stopped outside of his cell and looked at him.
Loki smirked.
It stepped up to the barrier, but then stopped.
It looked at him again, before turning and walking away.
Loki tried to hide his disappointment.
As the thing was walking away, he called out. "You might want to take the stairs on the left."
It stopped and glanced back at him, before turning away and heeding his advice.
Astrid's POV
She soared through the air, beside Thor, heading for the Prisons.
When they landed and headed inside, they saw most of the prisoners out of their cells.
She hoped Loki was not among them.
Thor spoke first. "I accept your surrender. If you do so, then you will not be harmed. You have my word."
A prisoner punched Thor in the face.
Thor smiled. "I guess you don't have my word."
They both leaped into the fight, slaying as many as they could.
Finally, Astrid stopped and looked around her. There were bodies everywhere. Of prisoners and warriors.
Odin stepped in.
"Heimdal has informed me that there are ships heading towards the city. Dark Elf ships." He said gravely.
Astrid stopped. "But Dark elves are dead!"
"Apparently not." He said. "They are heading towards the city, we must hurry."
They raced outside, in time to see one of the ships crash into the Royal Citadel.
Where were the shields? When something like this happened, a large barrier was supposed to defend the center of the city. Why wasn't it activated? Someone must have deactivated it.
There was no time to dwell of what happened.
Odin gasped. "Frigga!"
Thor and Astrid glanced at each other before soaring towards the tower.
Frigga's POV
She watched as two figures came into view. She stood in front of Jane.
One was the prisoner that they had brought in yesterday. The other was an elf. A Dark Elf.
"Who are you?" Frigga asked, pulling out a short sword.
She hoped Jane was staying back.
"I am Malekith." He replied with a smile. "And you have something that I want." His eyes drifted towards Jane.
Malekith! How could that be?
"You will not touch her." Frigga said before lashing out with her sword.
He dodged and tried to hit her, but she blocked and punched him in the face.
He stumbled back, and she grabbed his sword, and threw it away from them.
The other monster came up behind her and wrapped its arms around her tightly, keeping her from moving.
Malekith recovered and smiled, before heading towards Jane.
Jane was backing away, while Malekith was advancing quickly.
"You have something that is mine child." He said. "I'd like it back."
He reached out to grab her, but his hand slipped through her and Jane faded away.
Frigga smiled.
Malekith turned towards her. "Where is the Aether?" He said, coming towards her again.
"I'll never tell you." Frigga spit out.
He smiled. "I believe you." The monster brought out a sword and plunged it up through her back.
Frigga grunted, before she was dropped to the ground. Everything faded away.
Astrid's POV
She burst into the room fast enough to see a sword thrust into her mother.
"No!" Thor screamed. Lightning shot out of his hammer, hitting an elf in the face.
It screamed and fell back from the force. The monster holding her mother dropped her and grabbed the elf before jumping off the balcony.
Thor raced in pursuit and threw the hammer off the balcony, hoping he would reach his target.
Astrid raced to her mother's side.
"No! No. No. No…. Please mother!" She wailed, tears blinding her vision.
She reached out to touch her mother's face.
It was still warm, but she didn't move.
Odin was at her side and cradled Frigga.
He wiped strands of her hair away from her face, and whispering something quietly to her.
Thor came back inside and watched his father, his own eyes glistening with tears.
Jane walked out from behind a column.
Astrid started sobbing.
"No! Please mother!" The tears streamed down her face.
Thor went to her side and hugged her. Astrid wrapped her arms around him and sobbed into his shoulder.
Frigga was dead.
DUN DUN DAH! This is not so shocking if you've seen the movie, but anyway! :) Thanks for reading and reviewing! I appreciate it!
