Chapter 11 – It's not the end as of yet!

By: Klyukaizer

Okay, so I understand some reviewers who don't like to read M/M fics or Shounen-ai. And… I'm sorry. This story was meant to be that way… but somehow, I can just give out hints. I promise I won't put any unusual stuffs.

[5th day after the Saga]

T.K. ran to the halls of Odaiba Elementary followed by Kari behind him as a huge smile crept up to both of their faces. "Davis!!! Davis!!!" T.K. called. "Dai!!!" Kari called out as well, as they entered their own classroom.

"Davis!!!" T.K. smiled, "We've got a message from Wormmon! He's awake!"

"R-Really?" Davis smiled widely as he stood up from his seat.

"Sammy-chan was worried! Sammy-chan was worried indeed!" Sammy said as she pounced once again on Ken's bed of hay and leaves. "Then you don't have to be worried anymore…" Ken smiled as he nuzzled Sammy's head like he usually does. Sammy smiled widely as she nodded.

"The others will be coming soon." Sora said as she gave Ken a cup of tea. Ken looked at the cup of tea blankly and thankfully accepted it, "Arigatou…" Ken smiled as he gave a small nod. "I-I can't wait to see them…"

Sora smiled at the boy as she looked at Wormmon. "You mailed them, right?" Wormmon nodded.

Ken's smile was soon over the moment the Digital Gate opened and 5 Digidestines came out. All of them looked at the genius with excited expressions and heaves of heavy breathing as Ken looked at them blankly.

"Glad the team could come!" Sora smiled widely, taking the cup from Ken's trembling hand. "Hi, Ken." Kari greeted silently. "Hi, everyone…" Ken said silently as he smiled, receiving a smile back from all 5 DDs. Davis sat beside the indigo-haired boy's bed. "You feeling better?" Ken looked at his bandaged right arm and nodded.

"Yeah… feeling better already…" Ken looked over at Sora, "Thank you…"

Sora nodded.

"This call's for a celebration, you know!" T.K. grinned widely as he took a bag of food from Kari's backpack. "Tonight! We celebrate!"

"What are these?" Sammy asked as she fingered the boom box Yolei had brought. "If Ken couldn't go to the party. We'll let the party come to him!"

"Umm…I-I'm not really a party person, Yolei- Aaaah!" Ken said nervously as he was pulled roughly by Yolei to dance.

Everyone laughed as Davis smiled from the distance, he can't help but feel happy for the ex-Emperor. He felt Ken looking at him when he noticed Ken's nervous expression; he mouthed a "Help" to the goggle boy as Davis stepped in to the "dance floor".

"May I cut in? Cause I think you're about to break Ken's left arm too, Yolei!" Davis laughed as Yolei raised an eyebrow and chuckled, handing Ken over to the goggle-boy.

"I'm dancing with the all-mighty leader of the Digidestines…" Ken said as he looked at his bandaged arm on his chest, "…with one hand only." Davis laughed as Ken laughed with him.

"Hey! You guys aren't dancing alone!" Kari smiled as she pulled T.K. on the "dance floor" as well. Soon, Cody and Yolei joined in as both friends danced along in a happy tune.

"Ken? You okay?" Davis asked as he sat beside Ken who was sitting on a huge boulder. Ken nodded, looking at the stars above sadly. "Just thinking about someone…" Ken said silently, looking at the brightest star in the dark sky.

"Does that someone have to do with the name of Osamu Ichijouji?" Davis asked as Ken jumped in surprise. "H-how did you know about him?" Ken's eyes widened. "He's the someone you were talking about before, right?" Davis smiled and looked at his palms. "The reason why you became the Digimon Emperor is because you thought you killed him… right?"

Ken looked astonished and guilty, "You seem to know a lot…"

"NO!" Wormmon instantly said, "Of course he wouldn't! Ken wouldn't even hurt a fly! I-it was only the Dark Spore… controlling him…" Wormmon explained.

"Dark Spore?"

"Ken and I met in the Digital World when Ken was around 6 years old. Ken and I used to play around a lot and we made friends with a kid named Ryo." Wormmon explained, "But one time. When Black Gears startled flying around the Digital World, it lunged straight to Ryo and Ken was able to save Ryo from it. But in terms, he got the Dark Spore himself."

"…"

"The Dark Spore feeds off the darkness of a person and grows bigger and stronger if anger, sadness and guilt is present. Ever since Ken's brother, Osamu, died. He's been experiencing a lot of the 3 and thus, the Dark Spore on him grew powerful. He thought it was because of him Osamu died… since he wished for his brother to disappear."

"…So, that's… how he became the Digimon Emperor."

"I wanted to know a lot…" Davis said as Ken looked at him flatly. "Don't stick your nose to someone's business, Davis! Especially when you are not welcome!" Ken snarled as Davis instantly embraced him, leaving the genius with wide eyes and a dropped jaw.

"It was an accident. Nothing more… nothing less…" Davis said sadly, supporting the ex-Emperor by the back of his head. Ken's delicate form rested on Davis' as the goggle-boy allowed the child prodigy to lean unto him. "Y-you don't understand-" Ken started.

"-I do." Davis interrupted.

"No! You don't!" Ken said, breaking away from the Bearer of Courage's grip.

"He told me not to touch it! And I did! And when I got back, he scolded me for touching it! He said I was a scum of Earth because I touched other people's things without permission! I wished for him to disappear and he did!" Ken sobbed, screaming at every last ounce of energy left in him.

"I know this sounds crazy… but it's because I made that wish that he disappeared!" Ken said sadly, pulling his legs up and curling into a ball.

"You can't wish for someone's death, Ken… someone's life, yes. But death? I don't think so." Davis said. "Life? I can wish for someone's life?" Ken raised his voice, "If so, then why isn't my brother alive, Davis? If I can wish for someone's life, why hasn't he come back from the dead? Why, Davis? Tell me that!"

"…" Davis looked at Ken with sad eyes, "…maybe it was already his time… and the clocks of time can't be turned…"

Ken lowered his head as he tried his best to look away from the goggle boy.

"You have to accept the fact that it wasn't your fault, Ken." Davis advised, "Osamu's gone. But he'll always stay in your heart… I'm sure Osamu had already forgiven you for the things that you've done as the Emperor. I think it's only you that hasn't forgiven your own self…" Davis instantly stood and was about to leave the Child Prodigy alone, when…

"I- I understand…" Ken just simply nodded without stopping. Ken's nod soon turned to rocking as Ken rocked himself to calm down. Davis looked back at the Ex-Emperor as the boy broke into sobs and covered his eyes by his left hand. "Osamu-niisan…"

"…" Davis whispered, "…I'm sorry, Ken…" And with that, he left the boy alone.

"A-Am I a bad Digimon?"

"No. You're not." Ken smiled as he nuzzled Wormmon's head after his recent "chat" with Davis. Wormmon was left speechless. He didn't have a reason. He just felt like asking… feeling that his master was mad at him. "Are you mad at me?" Wormmon asked.

"No. I'm not."

"Th-then… wh-why are you sad?" Wormmon looked up to his master as Ken's face was filled with half-dried tears looking up at the dark sky. "I… I don't know…" Ken said softly, his voice breaking from the pain, "I don't know… anymore…"

"Ken… I don't want you to be in pain anymore." Wormmon said, "Please… can we go back home? I'm sure your parents are worried about you and I'm sure they want to see you ag-"

"—No, they don't want to see me again." Ken interrupted emotionlessly.

"B-but they do!" Wormmon tried to protest, even though he didn't knew if Ken's parents really did. "And how did you know that?" Ken argued with his soft and broken voice.

"B-because…" Wormmon trailed, "B-because…"

"…" Ken ignored his partner Digimon as he continued looking up at the stars. "Stop it, Ken! Just. Stop it!" Ken's attention was brought back to the Digimon on his lap. "Stop what, Wormmon?" Ken blinked. "That! Stop it!" Wormmon said as he felt tears starting to fill at the corner of his eyes.

"They love you, okay? They do! Even the Digidestines love you! Even Osamu! I love you too! Why can't you see that a lot of people love you?!" Wormmon yelled.

"They love me for what I can bring them… not for who I am." Ken answered.

"You sure about that?" The 2 best friends turned around to see Tai and Davis standing behind the huge tree they were leaning against. "What're you two doing here?" Ken asked, trying to keep his voice from being cold and stern. "We could ask the same thing, Ken. You're supposed to be in bed right now." Tai said as he sat at Ken's left side while Davis on the right.

"Don't strain yourself that much." Davis said with pure concern as he handed Ken a blanket.

"I want to be alone." Ken said.

"Alone? You sure about that?" Davis asked as Ken went silent. That's not what he meant… but still, it struck him in the heart like lightning. "Ken… you don't have to be alone. We're here now… and we want to be your friends." Davis said.

"That's not how it sounded the first time we talked in the jail cell." Ken frowned. "Okay, so maybe I was a little exaggerating!" Davis laughed nervously as Tai examined Ken's features closely. "You've changed." Tai said, ignoring the younger goggle-boy's laughs and rants.

Ken looked up at the DD leader. "You've changed a lot, Ken Ichijouji. Saving a lot of innocent Digimons. Your extreme care for your partner Digimon. And for saving us as well." Tai said, "You are a hero."

Ken wasn't able to react as he looked down to Wormmon in his arms as the 10-legged creature beamed at him with a huge smile. "I-I'm sorry…" Ken lowered his head deeper as both goggle-boy's before him saw droplets of tears falling to Wormmon's head.

"Don't worry about it, Ken…" Tai smiled as he patted Ken on the shoulders, deciding that maybe the boy really needs some time alone. "…We're here… and you're forgiven." With that, the older DD left.

Davis smiled a sad smile to the indigo haired genius as he too, stood up. "I'm sorry too, Ken. For everything… that had happened." Davis said as Ken looked up to him. "I'm a jerk! I know. I mean- yeah… I screw up sometimes. And I- well… I- I dunno. I- I'm sorry too. A-about your brother and all…" Davis stuttered.

"Thanks, Davis." Ken silently said as he gave a small sniff. "Thank you so much."

"H-hey! Don't mention it!" And with that, the maroon-haired boy ran awkwardly back at the cave. Ken felt smiling as he looked at the leaving boy.

"We're going home, right?" Wormmon broke off the silence. Ken looked at his partner Digimon and nodded.

"Yes, Wormmon. We're going home…"

The End.
