MTP: Time Slip arc

A spoilerific, time jumping, dimension hopping good time featuring Bromance, family ties, and love lost and found. There will be some bends in canon here and there, but not technically so considering this takes place after the events in the games.

Chapter 11: Arrival

Outside the Tower, Rei and Princess Nina could see people from the two mountain towns quickly approaching. Unsure of what to expect, Rei had drawn his daggers and the princess her wand. They stood ready to defend themselves if the need arose. By that point, the rabbit twins and the dragon brothers had made their way out of the labs and onto the Tower grounds, also ready to defend themselves. Ryu and Teepo drew their swords and Momo summoned her chrysm cannon.

Hana chose then to debut her new choice for self defense; a pair of dual powered pistols. One was smaller, lighter, and meant for rapid fire attacks. The other was bulkier, had a larger bore, and meant for more powerful shots. She had been practicing using each individually as well as both in tandem. Both were faster, easier to handle options than the cannon, and it was another thing to set her and her sister apart. And being dual powered, Hana had the option of either using chrysm rounds in a magazine, similar to the shells they used in the cannons, or have them tap directly into her body's mana via a small siphon apparatus on each pistol's grip. The idea for this came to Hana when she realized it would be wise to have a faster means to fend off attackers when she tripped over a shell she was trying to load and was almost raped.

The six of them stood there; ready to face whatever would come their way! With a large crowd of bodies heading straight for them on foot, they also noticed something streaking quickly through the sky toward them. With his hunter's eyes, Rei could see that someone or something had jumped off of whatever it was in the sky and was barreling top speed through the air at them. "It's show time, guys!" he called to his friends. In response, they all tensed in anticipation of battle.

The figure that had jumped from its ride so high up landed gracefully in front of them, kicking up a plume of dust when it landed it front of them. When the dust cleared, a Woren woman hissed at the group and pounded her long and heavy staff to the ground. Immediately after her, a beautiful blonde woman of the Wing Clan flew in with… black wings? She was followed by a winged woman of the Brood who carried with her the familiar sight of a woman with a snake's tail for her lower body. Then, arriving last was something that put Ryu and his friends somewhat at ease. Between the two groups, a dragon landed.

This dragon, seeing the group of unfamiliar faces brandishing weapons, breathed a bolt of lightning into the air with a roar, then powered down to his human form, sword in hand and at the ready. Ryu and Teepo immediately sensed a kindred spirit in this young dragon, and with but a single look into each other's eyes, sheathed their swords. The dragon brothers both walked forward and put themselves between their group and this new dragon. Ryu regarded him with a discerning eye, taking note that his face was eerily similar to his own. Also, he and the new dragon had very comparable builds physically, and most noticeably, the same color of striking light blue hair.

Both groups looked on as Ryu and the other blue haired dragon took each other in. Teepo was the first to act. He stepped forward and put a hand on Ryu's shoulder. With bold certainty, he put his other hand on the shoulder of this new dragon and said aloud proudly, "Brother!"

The other dragon's group tensed up, and they all made no effort to hide their confusion. Then, the winged woman of the Brood, who also had light blue hair, stepped forward. In as snide of a tone of voice as she could muster, she said, "Uh… no! Actually, he's my brother."

A small grin met Teepo's lips. "I did not mean it literally." Then he looked Ryu in the eye again and they both nodded and took a step backward. In an instant and with a quick flash of light, Ryu and Teepo each assumed a standard dragon form, fire and ice respectively. The other dragon youth looked on in awe and smiled. Then he too assumed a standard dragon form, his that of lightning. The three proud members of the Brood all raised their heads and roared triumphantly, each blowing a blast of their own element into the air.

At that point, a crowd of townspeople began to form near the two groups, close enough to observe, but far enough away not to get in the way if a fight had broken out.

The members of both groups put their weapons away and moved toward each other. Rei locked eyes with the Woren woman and after each sized the other up, they seemingly regarded each other with respect. "You take very good care of your tail," said the woman. "And your stripes are so vivid. Pure Tigren?"

Rei smiled and nodded. "You have a small frame and stripes, but by your build and the way you handle that heavy staff, I'd say half Leonar, no?" She allowed a proud look and grin to come over her face as she nodded in response.

Nina's gaze was met with that of the other woman of the Wing Clan. She was taken aback by this woman. She had never seen one of the Wing Clan with black wings, and they struck her as being exceedingly beautiful. Noticing the attention, the other winged woman looked down at her feet, purposely avoiding eye contact.

The rabbit twins traded looks with the Brood warrior's sister and the snake woman. Then it hit them both at the same time. "Deis?!" they both said in unison.

The serpentine sorceress perked up hearing her true name called out. "Whoa! Easy there, bunny brigade! I haven't been called by that name in a long LONG time. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I've never met any of you before. How do you even know my real name?"

Momo and Hana were dumbstruck. They turned to face each other, and with their own dominant hand (Momo's left, Hana's right), they simultaneously scratched their heads then adjusted their glasses. This little event, which essentially looked like a person standing in front of a mirror, certainly looked odd to those outside their group of friends. Momo spoke up. "Are you kidding, Deis? You never met us? You were the one that pointed us in the right direction so we could take down Myria!"

"I what?!" Deis exclaimed, shock and confusion laden in her voice. "That's impossible! I still feel Myria's presence, lying dormant somewhere in this world. Hers was the hand guiding the Deathevn cult we just brought down."

"Well don't that just beat all…" Rei said in a disappointed tone. "After all we did to get rid of her, she managed to survive somehow."

"Wait!" Hana jumped in right then. "Deis, you say you don't know us… Our dragons just met other young dragons when they were supposed to be the last two at that age… And you say Myria still exists."

Momo started to catch on. "That all means… IT WORKED!" Ryu's group caught on, but the other group was lost. "We don't yet know how to fully control the chronomorphic distortion field and it grew big enough to pull in the whole Tower, but it worked!"

A/N – BLAM! Time Slip all in your face! I've always wanted to see characters from different entries of a franchise interact. And Breath of Fire 2 and 3 are two of my favorite games of all time. Stay tuned! And as always, R/R and I still take suggestions for plot details over PM.
