Austin and I walked out of the movie theatre around six thirty that Saturday night. We had just finished watching The Amazing Spider Man 2. Austin went on about Harry being the green goblin and how could Harry betray his best friend like that even though Peter was trying to protect him. I being the sensitive girl that I am, couldn't stop talking about Gwen Stacy's death. Surprisingly I did not cry but I did hear some sniffles from the seat next to me.
''Just admit it! You were holding back tears.'' I said teasing Austin as we headed towards the parking lot.
Shaking his head he jiggled the keys in his hands. ''I was not! I simply had a runny nose.'' I scoffed at Austin's lame attempt to keep his pride.
''The bridge scene though!'' I giggled placing my hand on my heart. It was the most romantic scene in the movie. Peter finally confesses and basically fights for Gwen.
''But it went downhill very quickly.'' Austin reminded.
''Always the pessimist.'' I said shaking my head.
''Hey! If she didn't follow him, her death would have been prevented.'' It was true. If Gwen had not tried to help she wouldn't have died. But would Spider Man have? Once again a fictional characters death makes a huge impact in my life.
Austin continued. ''I'm more of a Mary Jane kind of guy.''
''Mary Jane is okay.'' I said as we got view of Austin's car. I walked over to the passenger seat and Austin on the opposite side.
''Hungry?'' Austin asked. A few kernels of popcorn from Austin isn't really all that filling.
''Starving.'' He put the keys into the ignition and put the car into reverse. The car ride to Miami Burger Shack (the hottest burger place in town. At least that's what Austin says) was uneventful.
Reaching the burger place Austin parked near the door and we headed into the building. The place was very retro, it had a Grease vibe to it. The place was filled but it wasn't packed. A waitress wearing a high pony tale and a pink ruffly skirt lead us to our table. And just like every girl that is near Austin she gave him a longer glance and a flirtatious smile. I have grown accustom to girls acting this way towards him now.
''Austin!'' The voice had not come from the waitress. Austin's gaze traveled up to a spot directly behind me. I turned in the booth following Austin's gaze. It was Kyle and he wasn't alone. Kyle was walking over to our both a blonde following closely behind.
''Kyle what are you doing here?'' Austin stood giving Kyle a hand shake I awkwardly shifted in my seat. The blonde finally came into view and it was Brit. Why aren't I surprise. Brit stood next to Kyle as soon as she gave Austin a quick kiss on the cheek.
''I could ask you the same thing. Brit was getting antsy at home.'' Austin nodded and I was still yet to be brought into the conversation. ''You on a date.'' Kyle said nudging Austin and I heard a small huff escape Brits mouth.
Annoyingly Kyle invited himself and Brit to join our dinner. I was now scooting down the booth making room for Brit. ''You look really familiar.'' She said taking my menu not even making eye contact.
''It's Kimmy right?'' What the heck! That's not even nowhere near close to my name.
''Ally. Her name is Ally.'' Austin corrected for me sounding slightly annoyed. Kyle nodded giving a smile.
''I met you at the party.'' I nodded fiddling with my phone in my hands hoping that Trish would text me. Austin and Kyle talked including Brit every now and then, I on the other hand was not even acknowledged once between the time they sat down to the time the waitress came over to take our orders.
I finally gave in texting Trish random messages anything to soothe the awkwardness I was feeling. Not once did Austin try to bring me into the conversation. These were his friends not mine. I didn't belong here.
''So Ally. Why has Austin not talked about you before?'' His guess was as good as mine. Sometimes I forget that Austin had more friends apart from Dez.
I shrugged taking a sip of my water. He didn't talk about me. I shouldn't be surprised, at school he acts like he doesn't even recognize me. The only times he will talk to me is if I instigate the conversation.
''I guess I'm not that interesting to talk about.'' I said half jokingly. I looked across from me to see Austin staring at my apologetically. The conversation swiftly switched topics by the time our food had arrived. Brit was talking about another party that was happening next weekend. Somehow I had a feeling it was going to end with her puking in someones bushes and Austin following her around making sure she's okay.
I tried to quickly finish my food the sooner I was done the faster I would be able to get out of here. For some reason I didn't enjoy having Brits innuendos thrown across the booth while I tried to have a descent meal.
''This was great but I should be taking Ally home now.'' Austin said wiping his face with a napkin, trying to get Kyle out of the booth. Brit quickly followed.
''We should do this again Austin.'' She said standing dangerously close to him. I grabbed my phone from my lap and stood up. We each paid for our meal and exited the building.
Austin and his friends said their good-bye as I waited for him at his car. ''Ally-''
''We should go. It's getting late.'' I said cutting him off, opening the door. The car ride was full of tension. A feeling that I had never experience with Austin before and I had thanked the house gods that I lived so close because I didn't know how much longer I could stand being alone in that car with him.
As Austin pulled into the driveway I was surprised to see my dads car parked with lights inside the house on. ''Your dads home?''
''Apparently.'' I said still not believing it myself. He called me a day ago letting me know that he wouldn't be home another three days. ''Thanks for the ride.'' Hoping out of the car making my way to the front porch. I waited a couple beats hoping that Austin would stop me and tell me that he was sorry but that was obviously not happening.
Opening the door to my house I heard his car turn on and drive out of the driveway. ''Ally. Your home early.'' My dad called from his laptop.
''So are you.'' Setting my keys in the container I walked into his office.
''My meeting got postponed till next week.'' I nodded telling him that I was going to head straight to bed.
Lying in bed that night I replayed everything that happened tonight. Over analyzing every detail. Austin didn't stop me, he didn't have to but I wanted him to. He had nothing to be sorry for, we weren't on a date and I shouldn't have cared that Brit was constantly making googly eyes at Austin but I did! God I was such a girl! It was clear as day to me now, Austin and I are from the same worlds. Totally different people that shouldn't have even crossed paths
We shouldn't have even become friends in the first place. Why is he still even hanging out with me? I'm probably the only girl in school that he hasn't tired to get with, he didn't see me the same way I see him. I understand that now, Austin didn't hold the same feelings I did.
OMG GUYS! This chapter *face palm* I tried so hard not to make it cliche and over done! I didn't want it to be predictable either but I wanted Ally to finally admit to herself internally the feelings she hold for Austin. It's not a direct 'I like Austin' but I hope you got the clue that she does.
Anyways! Again really sorry about this chapter but I promise I'll make it up my writing a kick ass new chapter when this one gets 10 reviews.
