"How do you think they're doing?", Poe whispered across to Jane from their seats in the car. Jane, Julian and herself had collected their supplies from the clothes store they had holed up in and loaded them into the car that was parked outside the front window. All they had to do now was wait.

Jane shrugged, gazing out the open backseat window at the mall entrance where their daughters and Kirby had gone to help other survivors.

"Beats me, but I can still hear the gunshots, so that's a good sign. All we have to do now is get ready to provide cover fire for them when they get back with the fuel".

"If they get back...", Julian mumbled angrily under his breath. He didn't care for Kirby or Paige, but he kind of hoped Ali didn't come back from this trip. She was the reason his father was dead, she deserved to suffer.

Jane sighed, rolling her window back up.

"We'll just have to wait and see."

"FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!", Ali screamed, tearing around a corner, Nick hot on her heels.

The witch screeched in response, rushing after them with her arms spread out, claws gleaming in the sunlight that streamed through the glass.

"SHOOT THE WITCH! SHOOT THE WITCH! SHOOT THE WITCH!", Nick cried out in panic as they barrelled down the centre of the atrium, Ali holding her cowboy hat to her head as they sprinted past Rochelle and Paige, who raised their weapons and opened fire at the raging infected.

The witch continued to charge them until a molotov flew over and shattered on the ground in front of her, engulfing the zombie in flames. She screamed and clawed at the air, stumbling around in pain before she finally fell dead.

"Holy fuck... Thanks Coach. Nice throw...", Ali wheezed, out of breath as she and Nick trudged over and leaned against the service kiosk.

Coach smiled triumphantly as he pocketed another molotov.

"Hah, I still got it."

"Speakin'a got it, while you were pissin' off the bitch, me and Ellis got the rest of the cans! We need to get back to the others, stat!", Kirby hollered as he and Ellis jogged over, arms loaded with gas canisters.

Ellis started off towards Jimmy Gibbs' car, Rochelle keeping pace alongside him to take some of the cans out of his arms.

Coach turned to Kirby and held out his hand.

"Alright, we'll gas up the stock car and bus' outta here while you get back to your folks. Meet us along the highway, we'll pull over and wait for y'all there, like we planned."

Kirby grinned, shifted the jerry cans in his arms and took the older man's hand, exchanging a firm handshake.

"Godspeed, Coach. Godspeed. We'll see y'all soon, ya hear?"

The men nodded and moved into their respective groups.

Kirby turned to the girls and clutched the cans closer to his chest.

"Alright, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna stand off to the side of the main entrance. The second they drive through those doors, we haul ass outta there and get across the street to our car. Paige, you're driving, so head for the front of the car. Ali, you're in the trunk seat, so I need you to cover me while I fill the tank, okay?"

Paige nodded, shouldering her gun and taking out the pipe bomb she had been saving as a distraction for their escape.

"Got it, get to the driver's seat and start the engine. Easy."

Ali pushed up her hat, flashing a quick grin at her friends.

"Stop your asses from becoming zombie kibble? No problem. Let's get the hell outta dodge."
