Werewolf

Hello all! It's December 9, 2016 and I've edited this chapter! It took a while, but I was updating "Rebuilding Ourselves" and "You're Invited to the Potter Wedding!" so I decided to go ahead and update everything. It's 100% weird to read my old writing, the quality has just gotten so much better! Not sure the editing is doing much good, but it's worth a shot.

"Rude, but nice accent, I'll never STOP loving that accent." The pink haired American said at the Marauder's response to her entrance, "Do you ever just listen to yourself speak because I totally would, were I you."

Sirius looked at her in awe, he'd never seen a person quite like her before. She had shorter pink, bubblegum pink, hair and clear blue eyes. She wore a pair of bright yellow, high waisted, bell bottoms with a loose fitting white shirt. Unlike most other girls he saw, she wasn't wearing any makeup. She called his attention and he couldn't help but find her beautiful.

Beside and around him, the Marauder's weren't as smitten with her as Sirius was. They were shocked and confused, curious on top of that. Who was this girl?

Before she could continue talking (at an astounding speed) again and before Sirius got caught up in staring at her again, James interrupted her, "Err, who are you?"

She laughed, a bell sound that chimed uncontrollably. It was almost annoying to the rest, but Sirius closed his eyes for a moment to enjoy it. "Oh, yea, that! I am Alpha Omega, sixth year Gryffindor apparently, what about you four?" She looked at them expectantly, and tilted her head slightly to the side when she did. She didn't seem phased at all by the completely crazy situation she was in. That in and of itself sent warning bells ringing through Remus, as even the students they'd known for years reacted when they noticed the four doing crazy things.

"Well," Said Lily, stepping up and speaking, which none of the others seemed able to do (James was very confused, Remus was deep in thought, and Sirius appeared to be drooling). "My name is Lily Evans, this is James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Sirius Black, and we are all sixth years and Gryffindor. But, seriously, who are you? Where are you from?"

Alpha smiled, "My name you already know, I lived in America with my mom and dad, but I was adopted from Britain, apparently they did not get some paperwork done right because the U.S. of A. was gonna deport me, so mom and dad just moved here, enrolled me, and sent me off. Which is pretty astounding being as they are muggles and didn't really know anything but Britain or British magic before they moved, dad's a programmer and mom's a teacher. I'm supposed to find my dorm mate, I was told that was Lily Evans, so it seems that is with you." She said all of this very fast, and they had to struggle to keep up. She didn't seem to mind that she was overflowing them with unnecessary information and Lily got the impression that after an hour most people knew her life story.

"What I want to know is everything about this school, is there a debate team? Please tell me there isn't any gym class. OH! And where do I go on the full moon? Because back home there was a small cushioned room. But I feel as if they won't have that here." She looked around at the stone walls and frowned, apparently unhappy with the fact that she was in a castle.

Once they figured out what Alpha had said, Remus spoke up first, not sounding surprised but confirming. "You are a werewolf?"

"That I am," She said, then she noticed their faces, "What? Never meet one before? I'll let you know right now you have," She nodded at Remus with logic in her voice, "Remus there is one too."

Remus shook his head, amazed that she'd just said it out loud like that. Did she have a death wish? Did she want him dead? Was this all some elaborate prank?"They know, but most people don't." He spoke slowly, not sure what to say and looking at his friends for help. They, of course (especially Sirius, who still appeared to be drooling), were no help.

"Why?" Asked Alpha, confused. She twirled the end of her bubblegum hair and appeared to saying exactly what she thought, giving it no processing time. "I mean, it's like a girl on her period, once a month you act kind of bitchy, everyone gets over it and moves on."

"Alpha," Said James, looking at an amazed Remus with equal parts shock, amusement, and upset that Alpha clearly didn't know what she was in for. "European society does not accept werewolves; in fact, there's a lot of discrimination. Most of the time, werewolves aren't even allowed to attend school, unless of course the headmaster is Albus Dumbledore, if you are a werewolf it's taboo."

Alpha groaned, frustrated by the inconvenience. "Of course, and people wonder why I was so upset to leave the US! Right, so what do I do?" She looked at the group expectantly, clearly assuming that they knew because of Remus.

Lily was confused, why doesn't she know? "The headmaster didn't tell you?"

Alpha shrugged, wondering why they assumed she'd had a werewolves introduction when she hadn't even known that werewolves were 'bad'. Wouldn't something like that have come up in that conversation? "It never came up, it's not like I introduce myself as Alpha, Werewolf in Disguise."

"Then you need to speak to Dumbledore," Said Sirius, finally getting himself out of his trance. He couldn't believe that she'd gotten into the school without it ever coming up, but she did have a point. Come to think of it, if you don't bring it up a werewolf could absolutely get into the school without anyone knowing. Until their first full moon that was. "I'll take you."

"Thanks," Said Alpha, appreciating his gesture because the castle was large and impossible to keep up with. At one point she'd seen a door disappear and if there were many classrooms like the Gryffindor commons she'd have to check every painting. "I'll appreciate the company, but I could find it on my own if you don't wanna take me."

That, of course, was a bold faced lie, but she wasn't about to admit that.

They all laughed, but Sirius explained, grinning at the naivety. "Trust me, the staircases move, the school is massive, and most of the ghosts are no help."

Alpha looked up at the ceiling as if it was going to provide her emotional support through the crazy school of Hogwarts. "You've have freaking ghosts? Really?"

Sirius laughed, "Of course, Professor Binns is a ghost and he teaches History of Magic."

They headed out, Alpha amazed and critiquing the logic of having a ghost teaching any class, and the Marauders watched the two leave towards the Headmaster's office. It wasn't until they'd left, completely out of earshot, that they spoke to one another, not wanting to be overheard.

Remus looked at James, grinning despite himself. "So, not only is she a werewolf, but she is American?"

Lily smiled, working on getting the dorm put back together. "Of course I get the crazy roommate. Seriously though, did you see Sirius?"

James laughed, helping her out while Remus went to the bathroom to get a shower. "Yeah! It was like he was hit with a love potion, actually it was very close to that now that I think about it, remember when Fiona gave him one last year?"

"So how's it been," Said Sirius as he guided Alpha through the school with ease, smiling easily. "Moving from America to Britain?"

Alpha shrugged noncommittally, "Not bad, I guess, I miss my friends but then again, I'll probably never see them again so there is no point in worrying about it." She moved on quickly, and Sirius got the impression that he leave from America hadn't been as simple as she was making it seem. Still, he had his fair share of family secrets, so he wouldn't pressure her. "So, what type of name is Sirius? I mean, are your parents just sickeningly obsessed with puns?"

"Pun?" Asked Sirius, "What's that?" He asked, unfamiliar with the American slang, the fact that American English was different from British occurred to Alpha just then. She smiled, she was going to become kind of really, though, but enough to feel fancy.

"Like," She said, trying to determine how best to explain it. "So if I say 'I'm serious!' and you reply with 'no, I am', that's a pun."

Sirius nodded, "Ah, okay." The scenario she'd laid out actually happened quite frequently. "It's because of the star, Blacks are all about stars."

"Oh, okay," Said Alpha, "that's cool, my dad's a programmer, so Alpha, see I was the alpha tested child." She didn't seem to think that he wouldn't know a single thing about muggles, and just assumed that he would know.

"Hu?" Asked Sirius, not sure if it was a muggle or American term, either way he had no idea what she meant.

As they walked up the many stairs of Hogwarts, Alpha explained, "See, in the muggle world-" ahh, muggle thing, thought Sirius. "-there are these things called programs, and when they make one, they test it, there are two basic stages of testing, alpha which is the first test, and beta which is the second and last test. I have a little brother called beta, so it is kinda a muggle joke."

Sirius was grinning kind of silly, clearly enamored with Alpha, "Cool."

"Well," Said Sirius as they got outside the Headmaster's office, a statue of an eagle sitting there and waiting for the password. "Here we are, puff pastry." Sirius said the password and the stone moved.

"That is so cool!" Said Alpha, and it occurred to Sirius that she may have come in through the floo, and therefore hadn't used a password to get into the Headmaster's office. "I mean, damn that's rad." She walked up the stairs, and Sirius didn't follow, "Hey!" She said, getting his attention as he stood there. She wasn't aware, because she did not have eyes in the back of her head, but he was watching her butt as she went and he was happy with what he saw. "You coming?"

"Oh, me? Sure," Said Sirius, following her up the stairs. Why does she want me to come? She may get in trouble for me knowing!

"Ms. Omega, Mr. Black, I see you have already meet some friends Ms. Omega." Said the Headmaster as they walked into his office, his eyes were watching them through his half moon spectacles and Sirius got a feeling that the Headmaster knew before they had even entered the stairs that they had meet. Something about the Headmaster made Sirius sure he knew pretty much everything that went on in the castle.

"Yes sir," Said Alpha, nodding at Sirius. "He showed me the way here; really helpful this one is, but, Mr. Dumbledore." She trailed off, suddenly nervous about what he'd do with her when he knew she was a werewolf. Would he send her back to her father? She hoped not.

The headmaster smiled at the American child, not bothering to correct to Headmaster or Professor. He knew that in her vernacular she was speaking with him with respect and that was all he asked. "Yes?"

"Well, I didn't realize this would be a problem, it's not in America, of course we are a fairly accepting country in comparison to all of the others, the whole American way and everything, so sorry for not telling you, I really hope it isn't a prob-"

Sirius poked Alpha, stopping her rambling for a moment. Does she talk during every emotion? "Hey, just tell him."

Alpha took a deep breath, "Sorry for the rambling, nervous habit, anyway, I am a werewolf and apparently that is a problem here in the homeland, if you want me to go home, it's fine, I understand, what with politics and whatnot..." She tried to sound cool about it, but she really wanted to stay at Hogwarts. She wanted to get her education, because it was important to her parents and she wanted to make them proud more than anything else. Not to mention that she really didn't want to go home.

The headmaster's smile faltered, and it was clearly news to him. "Ahh, well Ms. Omega, I believe we can make this work, but you cannot make it common knowledge that you are a werewolf, anyone that doesn't already know should not be told and if they are, it needs to be the utmost secrecy that it is done, do you understand?"

Alpha nodded, "Yes, of course Mr. Dumbledore."

"Now," He said, absolutely aware that the Marauder's knew of Remus' lycanthropy. ('Mooney' wasn't a subtle nickname.) "On the full moon, you will go with Remus Lupin and Madam Pomfrey to the shrieking shack, they will show you the way. It is up to you and Mr. Lupin how you two will change."

Alpha nodded, "Thank You for your understanding."

The Headmaster sighed, "Also, before you graduate next year, I will hold a meeting with you about your future career and how being a werewolf might affect that. Now, I am sure you would like to spend some time with Mr. Potter, Lupin, Black and Ms. Evans before school starts, please, go make friends."

Alpha nodded, unable to keep slight sass as she asked. "Yes, Sir though, may I ask if there are any other prejudices I should be aware of?"

The headmaster nodded, aware that America was much different in that aspect than Britain. "I am sure that Sirius here will be able to explain them, his... background makes it so that he will understand them better than I, now I must say goodbye, I have a planned fire call with the Minister of Magic."

"Of course," Said Alpha, not noticing how Sirius' face had gotten almost somber, the headmaster was correct, but Sirius was not looking forward to giving the bad news to the good girl. Sirius looked at the girl's short pink hair, yes; this was not going to be fun.
