Hello! Well, it is official, I am THE worst updater on earth. It's not completely my fault. I'm currently writing another story that shall be published soon. Perspective, written by me and a few other fanfiction buds, if you're a Potterhead you should check it out (coming soon to theaters near you!). Also Detergent has been nominated for the Divergent Fanfiction Awards (Insert crowd cheering and screaming here)! It's not actually a real thing, but I like to think it is okay? Okay. TFIOS! Well, now I'm just procrastinating. So here's the story! -EmuFrost

"Hi Honey!" Mom said cheerfully. I closed my eyes quickly and opened them to make sure I wasn't dreaming. She smiled guiltily. My eyes widened as I noticed what was in her hand.

"A gun? Mom what happened? How did you get that?" I asked quickly. A swarm of questions was building up in my mind. Mom grabbed my elbow and dragged me behind the corner.

"Shh! Guards coming, they know I'm here," she said as she put her arm over me as if to protect me from the guards.

"Mom, no, let me handle it," I insisted. She looked back at me sharply.

"I can take care of myself, Detergent," She said. "You know, I always knew there was something different about you." The guards footprints were approaching faster. They had heard us. Her hands were trembling holding the gun she hadn't shot in years. There was no way after at least almost 30 years she still remembered how to handle the bubble gun. Bubble guns were not for the faint of heart. The model Mom was holding was a 52 Bubblekill with level 20 bleach powered bubbles.

"A bubble gun? Only soldiers get those!" I realized.

"I got this honey," she whispered and stepped out from the corner. "Go."

"No!" I yelled trying to stop her, but it was no use. The bubbles fired like explosives ripping through the air into the guard's chest. A perfect hit. The guard seemed to not even notice the bubbles exploding on his suit. A bubble proof vest. Mom had no chance.

"I said go honey!" she yelled. I turned on my heels and sprinted down the empty hallway. I was close the door. One more step and I would be free. I spun around to catch one last glance at Mom, but it was too late. The guard raised his bubble gun slowly. And with a vacant expression on his face he fired. Only one bubble shot out. One little circle. One iridescent sphere. One little bubble was all it took. It hit her square in the heart. She twisted sideways catching a moment of eye contact with me. I screamed, but no sound seemed to come. The echo of my scream shook the walls, but there was no sound. She hit the ground with a defining thud that shook the whole compound, or maybe it was just me. It was like bad TV reception. The image of her pale lifeless body seemed to flicker as if I was loosing contact. The whole scene was a blurred out image in the back of my mind.

The guard saw me and lifted his gun. In the last moments of consciousness that I had I turned and burst through the door. It slammed behind me with such a force that I lost balance and stumbled forward. I should've smacked flat on the ground, but I didn't. Someone caught me.

I woke suddenly and quickly surveyed my surroundings. The door above me was pounding. The guard must have been on the other side trying to knock the door down with his shoulder.

I remembered Tubias's words 'upstairs, first door on the left'. The serum, I had to find it. I searched around me for another exit or useful staircase. Of course nobody would be that lucky to have the right staircase conveniently located right next to them, but I was. I swung to door open and leaped up the stairs two at a time. Heart pounding I reached the second floor. The first door on the left seemed to be the same as any other door. Plain metal door with silver hinges and a straight metal handle. Yet this door was different. A monster was lurking inside. A monster all too well known as J'clean Matthews.

•••

I burst through the door and had Bubblekills pointed at my head within seconds. The control room, of course, I thought. Why didn't I think there would be guards?

"Leave us, to chat," J'clean said. The guards filed out of the room in a straight line. I was already at a disadvantage so she had no more need for the guards.

"Beatide Prior!" J'clean greeted as if we were old friends. "How nice to see you!" She came closer to me circling me like a shark circling its prey.

"You know dear, I thought it would be a little harder to capture you, I mean after all you did just walk right where I wanted you too," she took a moment to chuckle at the convenience I had provided her. "I mean seriously I didn't even plan it!"

"I try," I said.

"Really? Because so far, your Mom is dead, who knows where the rest of your family is, I hear that was your boyfriend's job, oh yeah we have him too. And let's see what else," she paused. "Oh right! We now have you too. You know, I was going to let them kill you, but since Tubias is so willingly under our control, I thought hey, why can't he just do it?"

While she was giving me this speech I took the time to locate the wire that I needed to cut to get to the serum. The third wire, Tubias had said. There were only three visible wires around a control table in the middle. The third one was bright green. I could easily snip the wire and stop the simulation.

"Tubias Eaton!" J'clean commanded. Like he was a trained pet, Tubias stepped forward to her side saluting her. I smiled, just seeing his face somehow seemed to bring a reassurance that I actually had a plan in this madness, but there was not signal. No tapping foot, no wink. J'clean easily could've injected him again with a working serum. I had a moment of panic. Was it the real Tubias?

"Kill her," J'clean said calmly. Tubias nodded. He raised his Bubblekill and aimed at J'clean's forehead.

"Not me, you idiot, her. Beatide Prior!" J'clean commanded.

"Its Tide," he said. I smiled. He kept the trigger resting on her forehead. "You can cut the wire now." J'clean's eyes widened.

"No," she said. "No, no, no, you're supposed to be a soldier!"

"Clearly you need to work on your serum," he said. "Now, cut the wire."

"Never," she spat. "Guards!" The door slammed open and immediately the army of Bubblekills were yet again pointing at my face.

"Then I will!" I said. In one swift move I pulled the knife from Tubias's pocket and ran it through the wire. In that one swift second the serum had been destroyed, I rolled under the counter to protect myself from the rain of bubbles that would come, but it wasn't enough.
