"Darn it Jake! Did you really have to grab my ear till we entered the Res? Feels like it's going to fall off." Embry whined rubbing the pain from his ear. Jake simply rolled his eyes and looked to Sam. Sam looked at Jacob with a stony expression before turning to me. His eyes stared into my soul with a disapproving feel behind them. 'Knew these idiots were too fooled by her. Now I'm going to get blamed again.' I thought to myself as I looked down to the floor not meeting his eyes.
"Raine, you know the seriousness of messing with the imprinting right? This could break both Melody and Seth. I know that both you and Edward believe that Melody is this 'Siren' thing but we don't see it like that. I love you, little sister but are you sure you are prepared for this?" Sam asked me, breaking my heart a little. 'He still doesn't see it. He doesn't believe me.' I shook the tears from my eyes and nodded. Embry put an arm on my shoulder and leaned his head against mine, trying to give me comfort. I sighed and pulled away from him before we broke through the trees guiding us to Sam-I mean our house. I could feel the emptiness of not having Seth's presence next to me, I lowered my gaze when we entered the house. It was completely silent, unlike every other time we entered. The living room was empty, and so was the kitchen. Sam pushed past me, entering the kitchen to find a note attached to the fridge.
Sam,
Since I know you are busy with some pack stuff, Melody thought it was a good idea to take the boys and I to the movies. Don't worry Quil and Collin are on patrol, while the rest of the gang are with me. We won't be home until later since the movie starts at 4:00pm, see you soon.
Love always,
Emily 3
I glanced at the clock hanging in the living room above the T.V. '4:45 the movie just started, guess we can start operation: fishy fishy. Hahahaha fishy fishy.' I thought to myself before chuckling. Embry and Jake gave me a weird look before continuing to plop themselves on the couch, turning on the T.V. to a high school football game. I rolled my eyes before going upstairs to my room and taking a nap. 'Meh might as well, they aren't going to be home for about another hour, and even when they do they'll still be pissed at me for "making Melody sad." pfft whatever.'
The beach was completely empty besides Seth and I. The moon was reflecting off the water, and it was silent besides the crashing of the waves beside us. It was one of those nights that didn't rain and the skies were clear for once. It was peaceful. No prying eyes to judge me, or disapproving glares from the rest of pack. Just me and my imprint. Why couldn't we just live in this moment? Seth stepped closer to me, with an inviting smile, reaching his hand out to grab mine.
I let out a startled gasp, as tingles ran up my hand and to my arm. He smiled softly, with just an expression of love covering his face. He pulled me forward and I landed in his comforting embrace, I buried my face into his chest, breathing in his familiar scent. I turned my head and listened to his heart beat, a content smile took over my face, nothing else could make this moment better. I let out a sigh and hugged Seth as close as I could to me, he hugged back with the same amount as strength and feeling. He pulled away slightly and looked into my eyes, still with his goofy smile on his face.
"Raine, when you disappeared all those years ago, a piece of me disappeared with you. When Melody came, she erased all the memories with you, the good and the bad. I'm sorry that I couldn't remember who you were when you came back, please forgive me. I love you more than you know and want this to be the start of forever." Seth said his eyes searching mine. I nodded and hugged him again. Raindrops started to fall on us and the beautiful scene around us, suddenly it became a storm. The smooth, clear waves became rough waters, pounding dangerously into the sand. The special moment ended as Melody rose from the waters, pointing a triton at my heart. She was transformed from the human form she took when she was on land. She gained a tale and hair like seaweed but her eyes remained the same, with the same hatred she had on land. She directed the triton at my heart and threw it, it spun in the air till it reached me. I was completely frozen, just waiting for my certain death. "Raine? Raine? RAINE!"
My eyes snapped open suddenly, I was drenched in sweat and hyperventilating. Sam and Emily were staring at me with wide eyes, mouths open, completely speechless. I caught my breath and looked around the room, to see what made them so speechless. Glowing red caught my eyes, it was coming from beneath my blanket. I ripped off the blanket to see markings covering my arms and legs, it was like I got tribal tattoos while I was sleeping.
"So umm..I don't know how these got here but I promise I didn't get it on purpose?" I told them puzzled. They looked at my face then back to my markings then to each other. Sam nodded to Emily and left the room. Emily took a deep breath and sat on my bed next to me. She grabbed my hands into hers and just patted them.
"Raine, have you heard the stories of wolves and their imprints? I'm sure you have heard some but I'm not sure that the elders have told you of the female wolf?" Emily asked me, not looking at my eyes but at the markings on my arms that have stopped glowing but still remained like a tattoo, much like the one I have on my shoulder, the mark of the Quileute wolf pack. I shook my head no, so she could tell me the legend. "Well as you know, female wolves were said to be myth. When Leah shifted Sam them tried as hard as they could to see if they could find anything that could help them with her, help them understand a little better. Since none of our legends we had to dig a little bit deeper. There's was a legend from a different tribe, of females who could also shapeshift into wolves. Basically their legends said that female wolves are the same as male, only smaller and faster. For their imprinting, it says that a female would imprints as well but sometimes their imprints would be males from the pack and after they have found each other and spent some time together, glowing markings, just like yours will form on their bodies. After the glowing ceases, the markings will remain. Each wolf pair has different tattoos but it is identical to their mates." Emily said staring off at a blank part of the wall, then turning to look at me at the end of the story.
"So, what you are trying to tell me is that since I have these markings, my mate will also have them on his body as well?" I asked her, she just smiled and nodded. "Do you know where Sam went?" She laughed a bit and shrugged.
"He probably went to go find whoever your mate is." She said laughing. Panic struck me hard. I got up suddenly and raced down the stairs, down the road and up to the Clearwater household. There Sam stood, in the front of the house with Seth, his arms slightly glowing a light blue, markings clear on his arms, identical to mine. They both turned to look at me as I walked towards the porch. Seth looked utterly confused, while Sam on the other hand was filled with surprise and disbelief.
"Believe me now?" I looked at my brother crossing my arms while his eyes scanned from me to Seth and back again.
